"Well, I can help you, if you'd like. If you can drag the real Reaper out, I can take him away so he can't bother anyone on Earth again. Or, I can help protect you if anyone does try to seperate you. And, I can also seperate you when you feel you've had enough of it." X said. "It's all up to you."

Kara looked at him with wary eyes. "Why? Why are you being so... helpful? Not that I don't appreciate it, but I don't even know who you are."

((Enter Superman from New York))
"What's going on here?" Superman demanded, but the words caught in his throat. The Tower...who would have done this? Once again he found himself unable to prevent his eyes from glowing.

Kara, who had at some point started cradling one of the bodies without even realizing it-- probably Beast Boy, although it was difficult to be sure-- looked away from the stranger and toward her cousin, and for the first time, there was real hate in her eyes. Not cousinly annoyance, not dislike, not anger, not fear, and not guilt. Complete distrust and hate. "Well, well, well. Look who it is. Got any kryptonite with you, Kal? No, of course you don't; you're not wearing the special suit. Is Diana bringing it, or is that task left to Brucie? Am I going to be allowed to clean up what's left of my friends, or am I getting nuked with the green stuff ASAP? Just wondering, you know; don't want to be a hassle."

Briefly stunned out of being...well stunned. The red glow faded from Clark's eyes. "Umm... what?" Superman said in a very un-supermanish, surprised mannner. "Kara, what are you talking about?" He asked "And who are you?" Superman demanded of the stranger, the edge returning to his voice.

No meeting of tension was something the Commissar would miss, but something of this power was something he also didn't want to actually attend, so he sent a remote double of his robotic shell connected to his own mind back at his base; as long as there wasn't any lag, everything would be fine. The destruction of the Titan Tower left the sensors there to be destroyed, so the Commissar needed to technically attend this event to place it in his archives, but kept himself as hidden as best as he could and trying to not make a single sound. The Commissar's controlled double was in the kitchen behind some counters or what was left of some counters. A power of great magnitude was located here based on Dr. Doom's own reports and the Commissar was tasked to investigate; the other agent was busy. The Commissar wanted to step in and make the conversation between Superman and Supergirl tenser, but Superman would probably just demolish the drone if he started to barge in. The Commissar was analyzing the new person more than Supergirl or Superman; his power was quite extreme. No doubt Dr. Doom was suspecting this man was one of the causes of this universal clash and the Commissar was beginning to think so too.

"You're not dealing with him," Kara hissed, carefully lowering the body back down, "You're dealing with me." The centers of her eyes were glowing an ominous red. "You want the goop off so badly, Clark? Afraid I'll embarrass you? Screw up? Tarnish your oh-so-shiny image by association? More than I already have, I mean. Fine. Come and get it."

"What did he tell you? Kara, that suit is dangerous! Just ask Spider-man! I want it off because I'm worried about you, Because I care about you!"

Chris will love this; I just know it...Maybe I can send it to her cell phone? Didn't get her number...I'm sure she'll get a laugh out of this...Doom doesn't have much of a sense of humor unless it involves stroking his ego...Who will pull the first punch? I bet it will be Comrade Superman, no...The enraged Supergirl! Excellent...Maybe I should collect some sample from the bodies and maybe one of what's left of Superman after.
The Commissar's drone went into possum mode just in case, shutting down, but maintaining sensory viewing; this meant he didn't need to have the optics see, but like the sensors, just be close. No one would think to deal with a deactivated robot.

She laughed, but there was absolutely nothing amused about it. It was completely hollow. "Right. You care about me so much that you don't give a second thought to all the lives I've saved because I've had this thing on. You care so much that you're stockpiling the kryptonite you've collected instead of destroying it." She was shaking again-- rage, grief... everything was sort of blurring, until she didn't know what she was grieving for. "Let's stop pretending. The Kal-El I loved was a two year old kid who lived on a planet that was subsequently blown to smithereens. You have basically nothing in common with him. I'm just some girl that you took in because you felt obligated to do so, and you've regretted it ever since. I saw it in your eyes, even back then; I was just a little nuisance who you constantly had to keep in line. So, yeah. Tell yourself that you care about me, that you're doing this to help me, that this is just the suit talking. Except it isn't just the suit talking, and you aren't just doing this to help me. You think I'm a threat. And guess what? Now I guess I am!"

Superman's voice became very quiet. "I took you in, because I miss a family I never even new. You were never a nuisance to me, Kara, because I went through exactly the same things when I was your age. Struggling to control my powers. Not knowing if I was going to crush Ma the next time I hugged her, or if my X-ray vision was giving people cancer, or if I'd trip, fall, and shatter the earth itself. I love you, Kara, and because I love you, I can't let you hurt anyone, suit or no suit. Now I don't know what you've heard about the Kryptonite, but we haven't even recovered most of it from what I know, and NO ONE is carrying any around except for Batman, as usual."

She hesitated, the red glow fading slightly. The words felt so honest... Of course they do, snapped a small voice in her mind. It sounded so much like her own thoughts that she didn't even think twice about it. With all the public speaking he's done? All the shaking hands with the president and smiling for the camera? He's an expert. His words mean nothing. Less than nothing. He's going to hurt you as soon as you turn your back. And she couldn't trust her reading of his heartbeat; he had pretty precise control over normally involuntary body functions, like breathing. He could make his heartbeat stay even. "Just stay the hell away from us," she said coldly. The pronoun change slipped out without her even being aware of it. The next instant, she was just... gone-- like she'd vanished into thin air.

X watched the girl go. He kept a straight face, but had the man not been there, he would have been smiling. He hadn't expected a confrontation so soon...or such a strong outcome. He had to say he was starting to feel much better now. At least something was giving him the results he was looking for. Casually he turned his attention back to the man. "On what? What happened here, or the girl?"
