When people recall the days of the Clone Wars, no warship is more memorable than the Venator-class. The first true Destroyer, the Venator was an 1,137m vessel that could do it all: troop transport, starfighter carrier, escort, one-ship fleet, and as it's name implies, a Destroyer.

The ship was designed by Lira Blissex, the mastermind behind the Imperial-class and Executor-class. Made by KDY, the Venator was designed as an all-purpose multi-role ship that could do it all.

Standard, each vessel came with these weapons:

8 Heavy Dual Turbolasers
2 Medium Dual Turbolasers
52 Point-Defense Lasers
6 Tractor Beam Projectors
4 Heavy Proton Torpedo Tubes
8 Turbolaser Cannons

As can be seen, by default these vessels were far more heavily armed than either version of the Acclamator-class. When the warship premiered in 22 BBY, it was the most powerful mass-produced military warship in the history of the galaxy.

In addition to this, the ship also carried:

192 Alpha-3 Nimbus V-Wing Fighters
36 ARC-170 Heavy Starfighters
192 Eta-2 Actis-class Light Interceptors
40 LAAT/i Gunships
24 AT-TEs, AT-RTs, and AT-ATs
Various Shuttles
2,000 Clonetroopers
20,000 Tons of Cargo

By and by, if this ship was anything, it was a Starfighter Carrier. Even though the Imperial-class was nearly 500m longer, the Venator-class carried as much as nine wings of craft, plus its walkers and troopers. Crew count was 7,400. There was only two years worth of consumables.

What set this ship apart was the three hangar doors the ship had, two on each side of the ship like other vessels, plus a massive door on top of the ship that could unload entire squadrons of starfighters out at the same time, a feat no ship then or now can replicate.

Also, note the dual bridges. The ship has two of them, one for commanding the ship itself, like with most other vessels. The second, however was starfighter command, controlling the hundreds of fighters the Venator deployed during battle.

Despite the success of this ship, especially on planets like Utapau, Mygeeto, and Coruscant, the ship was eventually phased out of service and replaced by the Imperial-class. What ships remained were relagated to backworlds.

When the Kaminoans were building an army for the Republic, one of the first things they did was contract various companies to produce arms and vehicles for that army to use.

One such company was Slayn & Korpil, the company who eventually produced the B-Wing. This is the starfighter they rpdocuded for that army: The V-19 Torrent.

Premiering as a prototype vessel in the Battle of Geonosis, each Acclamator in service had a single squadron of these. After seeing how well they faired against the Geonosian and Droid starfighters, production skyrocketd on this baby.

The vessel itself is impressive in itself. The wings allow it excellant maneurvability, especially in atmosphere. Speed and shields are good too. For armament, the ship has two blaster cannons and two concussion missile tubes.

Despite it's success, it was soon replaced by the cheaper and more powerful Nimbus-3 V-Wing.

Kuat Systems Engineering, the starfighter production branch of Kuat Drive Yards, churned out lots of ships up to and during the Clone Wars. This is one of them.

The Alpha-3 was a tiny, light Interceptor. Shielded, armed with a pair of blaster cannons, and capable of carrying an intergrated astromech, these were some of the smallest ships available to the Republic. So small, in fact, that it had no hyperdrive, and relied entirely on a base or carrier. They also lacked life support, meaning pilots had to have a fully sealed vac-suit.

While their exact date of release is unknown, they were in service and used as the most common starfighter on most vessels by the Battle of Coruscant in 19 BBY.

When the Imperial-class superceded the Venator-class as the premier ship of the line in the Imperial Navy, so was the V-Wing replaced by the TIE Fighter. Gradually, both the Venator and V-Wing were pushed back to policing the worlds along the outer rim, or in the security forces of various planets and private sectors,

The ARC-170 was produced by the Subpro Company and Incom, as part of a program to produce starfighters for the Republic Navy. Though the two companies eventually parted ways, this vessel found a nice niche for itself.

Despite looking like the popular Z-95 Headhunter (and it's descendant, the T-65 X-Wing), the ARC-170 is a heavy starfighter.

What's a heavy starfighter? Well, let's put it this way. This baby, on top of having a pilot and astromech, also has a co-pilot and gunner, making for a total of four beings on board. That's more than twice as many people as on the V-Wing or V-19 Torrent.

Also, this ship had a heavy payload of weapons: two medium laser cannons, two rear-mounted laser cannons, two wingtip laser cannons, and a proton torpedo launcher.

Thus, she was by far, the largest starfighter in the Republic arsenal, leading up to the New Order. Because of their expensive shields and hyperdrive, plus the crew cost, they were replaced by the smaller and cheaper Eta-2s and V-Wings, which were then replaced by TIE Fighters.

The legacy of the ARC-170 was that a good bit of its design was passed on to the T-65 X-Wing.

Want something that's fast as a bullet, fits in a shoebox, and has minimal features?

Meet the Eta-2 the Smart Car of the Star wars universe.

When I say these things are tiny, these things are tiny. Aside from a bare minimum of consumables, targeting systems, and life support, these things are little more than a pair of lasers, with wings, strapped to an engine.

Armament was pretty heavy, despite it's diminuitive size: two laser cannons and two ion cannons. Despite this, the ship lacked the power to fire continuously for long periods, even with the radiator-panel/wings opened up.

As it's name implies, this vessel is a light interceptor, specializing in speed and hunting down enemy fighters. It was also the vehicle of choice for Jedi, who often piloted variants of the ship sans navigational and sensor equipment, making them even faster. Two such vessels were piloted by Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker during the Battle of Coruscant. Anakin later also piloted as green one to Mustafar, and as Darth Vader, used a black one around the time of the Subjugation of Kashyyk.

This vessel was eventually phased out by the TIE Fighter, and was truly replaced by the TIE Interceptor nineteen years after the end of the Clone Wars.

Founded by an Atzerri criminal and Academy dropout Tyber Zann, the Consortium is a small but growing underworld criminal organization, operating in the backwater worlds.

Their goal is simply to make profit: making credits, stealing ships and weapons, kidnapping, whatever, they do it.

While they are relatively small, compared to the much larger Black Sun and the Hutt Cartel, the Consortium is a major player. Their forces consist primarily of various mercenaries, smugglers, and pirates, paid and employed by Zann to run his criminal organization on various worlds.

Their leaders are Tyber Zann and his lieutenant, the Talortai Urai Fenn. Zann, as noted above, his a human native of Atzerri. After being caught stealing from his father, he enrolled into the Imperial Academy, and was only kicked out after fellow classmate Mitth'raw'nuroudo exposed his underground gambling ring and had him kicked out. Fenn, on the other hand, met up and was hired by Zann to be his body guard and associated, jobs he gladly accepted.

Today, in 2 BBY, Zann is an associate business partner of Jabba the Hutt. He doesn't control much territory right now, and as of yet he maintains only a small number of vessels, mostly old Z-95s and Interceptor Frigates. There is, however, the potential for him to expand his operations and become a more formidable faction.

The Dark Reaper was created by the Sith during the Great Hyperspace War as a weapon against the Galactic Republic, but no one knows who exactly had built it or how much damage it had caused during the war.

It was rediscovered by the Krath later on during the Great Sith War, which suggests it was never destroyed by the Rebulic only buried or hidden.

The immense weapon required massive amounts of energy to function which the Krath provided by having the Dark Reaper target the Living Force as it's source of power. After fallen Jedi Ulic Qel-Droma's return from the Krath he shared his knowledge on how to defeat the Reaper with the Jedi.

After the war, the Jedi Order had each piece of the Dark Repear scattered to the far reaches of the galaxy, no one knows the exact planets each piece had been sent but it's believed it was mostly Outer Rim worlds.

Four Thousand Years after it's first two appearances, Count Dooku and the mercenary Cydon Prax went searching for each piece, finding the Force Harvester, one of the key components to the Dark Reaper on the junkyard world of Raxus Prime. After testing the Force Harvester on one of the moons of Kashyyyk, half of the moons forest life had been obliterated in the test. After the successful test Dooku had the Harvester drain energy from other worlds Mon Calamari, Agamar and Bakura to be precise.

Dooku later brought the pieces of the Dark Reaper together and re-activated it on the planet of Thule, it was then destroyed once and for all by Anikin Skywalker using the training he recieved from Ulic Qel-Droma's specter.

The AT-XT was an experimental walker mech designed for use by the Republic during the Clone Wars, and serving as the test bed for other models.

The AT-XT was equipped with twin laser cannons mounted under its chin, two long-range proton mortar launchers that were placed above the cockpit, it also had the capability to outrun both it's AT-TE and AT-RT counterparts. In some cases the AT-XT came with a plasma shield generator for extra defense and was even piloted by some jedi such as Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker.

Unfortunately the AT-XT for unknown reasons was never mass produced but still had enough numbers to see action in every year of the Clone Wars.

The AT-PT and AT-ST would later continue the AT-XT's design legacy. In addition to it's legacy, various models of the AT-XT were kept in use by the Galactic Empire for research and development purposes.

By comparison, the AT-ST wasn't as powerful as the AT-XT on the battlefield for Galactic Empire.

The BX-series droid commando's bore similarities to their B-1 Battle Droid counterparts in the way there chassis was built, although the BX seemed to carry more intelligence than that of the B-1 or B-2 which would be an obvious factor for stealth commando operations.

Carrying over many of the same operating abilities as the regular battle droids, one thing in particular would be the usage of the droid phrase "Roger roger", with there humanish shape and additions of infiltration software, the BX's were able to fight in side the armours used by the clones troopers and so also the Senate Guard's armour as well. They also came with a voice modulator; they were able to mimic voices but couldn't copy a subjects vocabulary or mannerisms. Like the B-1's they weren't very adaptable to unexpected situations inside or out of combat.

With harder armour the BX's were able to withstand at least more than a few shots from a DC-15 rifle, along with the standard weapon of the B-1 droid the E-5 blaster rifle they also carried stun batons and fusion cutters, it was also seen that the commanding droid of each BX unit carried a vibrosword for close combat.

Identity: Royal Guard TIE Interceptor
Capsule:

Unlike the original TIE Interceptor, the Royal Guard TIE Interceptor was equipped with a built-in hyperdrive and shield generator. Armament was the same as the standard Interceptor.

Sometimes known as the "Guard Interceptor" the pilots of these fighters were even said to rival the ace pilots of Rogue Squadron.

These fighters were said to have been commissioned by Emperor Palpatine himself and under Darth Vader's watchful eye these TIE Interceptors spent major periods of time being worked on and modified by Imperial engineers. On some rare occasions the Royal Guard TIE Interceptor was sometimes given to highly skilled Imperial pilots after completing highly dangerous missions that put the pilot at risk for a good amount of Imperial gain.

These fighters saw strict service during the time of the Galactic Empire. Emperor Palpatine's shuttle was always escorted by at least a squadron of these vessels, in much the same way that he was always flanked by two or more Imperial Royal Guards wherever he went.

The exact number of these vessels is disputed. Initially, of the original wing of TIE Interceptors acquired by the Empire in 2 BBY, only a single squadron became Royal Guard Interceptors. By 4 ABY, however, at least a full wing was in service.

Also known as the "Jedi Starfighter", the Delta-7 was a precursor to the numerous ships that saw service during the Clone Wars.

Developped by Walex Blissex (the same brain behind the Alpha-3 V-Wing and RZ-1 A-Wing), this ship was known for it's small size and speed. So small in fact, that it lacked an internal hyperdrive, and required either a carrier ship or hyperdrive ring. Weapons consisted of two pairs of laser cannons.

Because of it's shape and sub-par targeting systems, most pilots ended up blowing their nose cones off. To compensate with this, the Delta-7 was often produced with a Astromech droid built into the hull, to prevent this from happening.

This vessel saw most action with Jedi in the cockpits. Because of their Jedi senses, the Jedi pilots didn't need an Astromech for targeting systems, like the R3-D series. Instead, Jedi usually used the Navigation-orientated R4-P.

This vessel saw one upgrade, in the Delta-7B. The sole difference in the two vessels, the 7B being released around 20 BBY, was that the droid socket was located in the middle of the ship, and could be fitted with full-size astromechs. One of these vessels was piloted by Plo Koon.

Eventually, the Delta-7 was outdated and replaced by the smaller, more powerful and refined Eta-2 Actis, by 19 BBY. Shortly after the Clone Wars, Kuat sold its designs to SantheSienar, who quickly cancelled and phased out both starfighters.

Today, the Delta-7 lives on as the inspiration for the newer R-22 Spearhead, the precursor to the RZ-1 A-Wing.

Ask a Clonetrooper what he most fears on the battlefield, and he'll give you one answer every time: The Pisoteka Droideka.

Surely, this was one of the most renown, and infamous model of battledroids ever known. Shaped after their Colicoid makers, the droid sat on three legs, and could curl up into a ball for fast transport.

Defenses included a pair of heavy blasters in place of hands, as well as a powerful deflector shield. The droid was so well-armed, in fact, it sent even Jedi running.

The droid saw three models in it's lifetime. The original, model-P debuted prior to, and saw action in the Battle of Naboo. The second, W-model was in use by the Battle of Geonosis, a decade later. Finally, the Q-model was in use as of 19 BBY, the end of the Clone Wars. Each model was relatively the same, featuring only minor upgrades to shielding and weapons, with the same overall package.

Eventually, the droideka was fully replaced by the Mark II. Released many years later during the Galactic Civil War, it was updated in many ways, featuring four stubby legs, better shielding, and the addition of ion blasters.

Still, the point remains, that if you want a droid that can terrify pretty much anything capable of feeling fear, get one of these suckers. Though most of them were de-activated following the end of the Clone Wars, rumors are abound of caches and warehouses full of these.

The result: a droid of unmatched power. These things were rumored to take on a dozen AT-TEs and walk away without so much as a scratch, and mow down platoons of infantry. There's no sugarcoating it: if you see one of these things, run the hell away.

Following Order 66 and the assasination of the Separtist leaders, Emperor Palpatine made sure to grab as many of these deactivated droids, and stashed them away at the Imperial Department of Military Research. rumor has it that he plans on incorporating them into the Army, and that some units are already used as guards at his throneworld of Byss.

Astromechs are a series of small droids, often with wheels, that serve as mechanics, and mobile computers in the service to starships.

Astromechs provide a variety of service, including maintenance, navigation, security, logistics, and even self-defense.

The most prominent producer of astromech droids is Industrial Automaton, the company behind the prestigious R-series astromech droid, of which the famous droid R2-D2 is a member. The R-series is known for setting the modern standard of astromech droids, such as being able to fit in starfighter cockpits, or be upgradable with aftermarket parts.

The astromech is oftentimes best known as the co-pilot in most starfighters. Many starfighter models either feature a built in astromech droid (usually an R4 unit), or has a slot that an astromech can fit into, such as an R2 can fit into an X-Wing.

Notable astromechs include, T3-M4, R4-P, and R2-D2.

Protocal droids are a series of droids built to resemble humanoids, and designed to interact with them.

Protocal droids' primary functions are to serve as diplomatic and language interpretors and translators. They feature vast storage banks filled with data on the language and cultures of thousands of species. Some droids, such as C-3PO, claimed to be able to speak over 3,000,000 languages and dialects.

But, as noted, protocal droids also provide cultural knowledge. Much like State advisors, a protocal droid is usually programmed with the customs and ways of life of various creatures, so if you ever need their services, you can avoid offending potentially hostile aliens.

Because of their close interactions with sentients, protocal droids are equipped with audio and visual sensors that allow them to decipher information similar to most humanoids.

Protocal droids also come with fairly advanced personality packages. More than any other droid, not only can they speak and interact like a sentient, but they actually can think like one, even if from an objective point of view.

Though they can be handmade, most Protocal Droids are made by Cybot Galactica.

Notable protocal droids include C-3PO, 4-LOM, TC-14, and C-3PX
