Kaien looked gratefully at the two women. "Unfortunately the opening of the dorms has left me with little chance to interview perspective candidates from this realm. I would like to include a human teacher, but I'm not certain any would come at this time."
"I'm looking forward to seeing how well you teach, Anna. Arondis, I look for your guidance as to who has the most potential in the Other Realms. For now, we must attempt to hold the school together until the solution to our Gateway problem can be found."

It was a very intimidating idea. Anna, teaching in front of a class of students. Then again, if her teaching was part-time, then perhaps her class would be exclusive to only those who were truly dedicated. She would have to present the idea to Kaien when he wasn't so flustered. Her response was a mere nod and another sip of the tea. She knew little of the Gateway, so couldn't really comment.

Arondis would be able to find someone, she was sure of that much. She'd contact several people once the gate was secure. That was of the highest priority. No doubt Kaien hopped for it to be fixed by the time of the uncoming event. She certainly hoped for it to be so. "I plan to work on the issue when I return to the gate. You'll be notified as soon as the work is done."

"Very well." Kaien said, standing and smiling. "I think our first Staff meeting has gone well, even though Arondis really isn't a member of my staff." He strode over to where the pile of books that Anna had recently knocked over lay.
He clicked his tongue and shook his head, "What a shame, we almost had this place cleaned up!." He winked at Anna to let her know he was simply joking, and bent to gather a few in his arms. He carefully stacked them on the edge of her desk for better access, and turned to the two women.
"I think I'll take my leave now, for right now, the best course of action is to simply monitor the fluctuations in the gateway and not to directly confront the problem. However, if you could research some possible solutions from your personal libraries, I'd be very grateful."

Anna laughed softly at his jest. Kaien was proving to be a good friend in this new place of secrets and adventure, which was just what she needed to feel at ease, especially after that escapade. "If I find anything, I'll be sure to let you know," she said, caressing one of the volumes she had landed on. Her ribcage sure felt the impact of the large tome, yet all Anna could think of was the slightly rumpled pages cowering beneath the cover.

Arondis nodded in understanding. "Will do." Smiling, she walked towards the office door and then turned to bow her head to both people in the room. "A pleasure to see you again Annabelle. You as well Kaien, you'll hear from me soon." Already she knew that she would contact her son to be a teacher here. The headmaster would have his teachers in no time. This thought was accompanied by a warm smile as the guardian made her way down the hall, always moving in silence.

Anna bid Arondis good-bye, smiling all the same. To Kaien, she also extended the same warmth. "I'm sure everyone will be more than happy to help," she said quietly, as her head was still a bit woozy. "But right now, I think we all need some rest." She walked him to the door, wished him a good night, and shut the door quietly behind him when he was half way down the hall.

-40 min. later- A young looking white-bluish haired man walked casually down the hallway, seemingly in no hurry to be anywhere. He was suppose to be looking for the headmaster and instead, the door he happened to knock on was that of Anna's office. Pyralis casually rocked back on his heels and then stood straight again as he waited for the door to open.

"Oh, goodness." Anna was still groggy from her faint, but still put on a chipper attitude. She tucked her little novel under her arm as she rose from her chair and over to the door. "Hello, and welcome to--" But her words caught in her throat as she noticed that who she was greeting seemed far older than anyone attending class there. This gentleman had a sense of time about him that could not be mistaken. Elves often possessed the same feeling. "Oh, I'm sorry. You're not a new student, are you?" Anna laughed.

His warm laughed acompanied hers. This beautiful woman was not what he had been expecting. "No, and I don't suppose you're the headmaster as he's suppose to be a man." Chuckling slight, he introduced himself properly. "Pyralis Aquila Flameweaver at your service madam." Taking her hand, he kissed the top of it in the old fashioned way. "May I inquire as to what name goes with such an angelic face?" Pyralis smiled warm and friendly.

Her fair cheeks flared up immediately. It was a terrible side effect that came with any attention from a man. "Annabelle Souris," she replied, bringing her free hand to her cheek. Her grasp on her novel became so weak that she dropped the book, one written by Gaston Leroux, a french writer of the nineteenth century. The hardcover, leather-bound edition of The Phantom of the Opera came dangerously close to landing on his foot. "Oh, I'm so sorry about that," Anna said before making a move to pick it up.

Pyralis chucked again. What a darling blush. "Please allow me Miss Souris." Kneeling, he picked up the book and then stood again. "Ah, Gaston Leroux. What an interesting man he was. Brilliant writer, but terrible taste in woman I must say. Only with the ficticous woman did he have any talent." Still smiling warmly, he handed to book back to Anna. "Hold tightly to that one. It's a classic."

Why was she so terribly flustered? Of course he was handsome and charming, but she wouldn't allow herself to fantasize about someone who very well could be another colleague. Yet, once he made comments about Leroux, her doubts subsided into intense curiosity. "Did you know him?" she asked, before realizing with much embarrassment that they were still standing in the doorway. "Come in, come in. Would you like some tea?" Anna asked, by then marveling at her ability to even string words together.

"I would indeed, thankyou." Following Anna into the office, Pyralis closed the door behind him and, carefully navigating through the piles of books, took a seat on the couch. "And to answer your previous question, yes, I did as a matter fact. It was only briefly though, and just for a few drinks now and then. He liked to run his ideas by me when we both got the chance." Taking in the state of the office, covered in books, he had to smile. "What a collection you have here."

Anna grasped her copy of The Phantom close to her, gazing with wonder at this man who spoke so casually of the author of just one of her favorite books. "Did he ever speak to you about this work? It's one close to my heart." Eventually she pulled herself from her reverie to get him a masculine mug filled with hot water, and presented him with the tea chest. Once that was settled, she began peppering him with questions, brown eyes glistening with excitement. "What was he like? People criticize his work terribly, but it's the principles behind his work..." Goodness, stop talking and defending it before he's said anything, she chided.
