Terrie wrinkled her nose. "Cabbage? I hope the fresh stuff is better than the soup. I found a bowl of it once. Yuck!" She shook her head, remembering that thin bowl of soup from back then. "Fruits are a much better idea."
She smiled slightly at the forest comment, then it brightened. "A cliff? How high is it? Is it far?" She asked eagerly as she accepted his hand in her own, feeling a soft happiness at the return of his warm touch.

Laughing at Terrie's reaction, Emris used his free hand to playfully poke the other foxtaur's shoulder. "Now cabbage is said to be good for you." He tried to sound stern but lost his serious attitude as he whispered, "But truthfully, cabbage soup really is nasty."

With that said Emris started walking and couldn't help but to squeeze at Terrie's hand. "Now about the cliff....you'll know when you see it." He teasingly said before gently pulling her along after him through the trees. Soon the trees would start to thin out and a they would start walking upwards towards the cliff's edge.

Terrie covered her mouth with her free hand in a soft giggle. At least she wasn't the only one disliking cabbage soup, whether or not it was good for you.
"So you're just going to keep me waiting?" She asked with a heavy dramatic sigh, though a small delight in her eyes shown from the anticipation. He tail started twitching in addition when the ground turned into an uphill slope.

"Basically." Replied Emris with a grin. He resisted the urge to laugh at Terrie's sigh and instead kept moving up the hill. Soon they arrived at the cliff and came to towards the edge. Looking around Emris looked at the hundreds of trees that surrounded them and seemed to stretch on past the horizon.

All the trees were different sizes, but all showed their age with their tall limbs. Leaves of gold, orange, and reddish colors flared against the darkening area. Still it matched perfectly with the sunset above which was now fading softly from the sky. "Welcome to the forest..." He whispered softly to Terrie still holding onto her hand.

When they reached the top of the cliff, Terrie gasped and clung to Emris' arm fearfully. It was so high up! She looked on in a mix of fear and awe at the landscape spread before her. It was amazing, but her breath had already been taken away by the long drop she was looking at.
"It's beautiful." She managed to whisper as she stood grasping the male's arm. And it seemed to be endless! Was this island really that big? She had to remind herself that her exploring of the island had been "interupted" by the offer of a home, so she didn't know how big it was yet.

Feeling Terrie's grip on his arm and her gasp almost made Emris jump. But his surprise died and he just looked back at the scenary before allowing himself to worry about anything.

Yet then he chuckled softly at Terrie's comment and looked back at her. "It really is." He whispered softly, "I'm glad that you think so too." Already though the display of colors across the sky was quickly dying out to a dark night sky.

"But we better head back, right? Unless you plan for us to camp out here on this cliff?" He asked with a playfull grin.

Terrie watched the trees fade into the darkness until Emris asked about heading back. She snorted and gave her head an exaggerated shake. "I think I'd rather sleep indoors. Thanks for offering though." She returned a playful smirk and turned back, tugging his hand gently for him to follow. It was getting a bit too cold for her now, and she looked forward to the warmth Emris' house had to offer.
"There's something else I want. My house should be warm in the winter. Oh, and cool in the summer I suppose." She said as she walked. "Can I have both?"

Laughing at Terrie's reaction, Emris allowed the foxtaur to lead him back. "I think it's possible...." He replied thoughtfully, "We just have to figure it out. Of course fireplaces and non-drafty walls would help with warmth....it's the cool in summer part that takes most thought."

Just thinking about the house plans made Emris wonder about who to ask to help with it. He already had some taurs in mind, but he wouldn't worry about that just yet. 'First things first, Emris.' He reminded himself with a small sigh. Thinking about so much work...made him tired yet it was truly exciting at the same time.

Terrie smiled slightly. "I think I'd worry most about warm in the winter. If I can't have cool in the summer, I'll just have to open windows and hang out outside." She nodded to herself.
"A fireplace sounds nice. A great big one! Can I have a mantle for it? One of those nice wide ones that you can put pretty things like flowers onto." She seemed to start to ramble slightly as she walked on, starting to talk more about visual things than structural. She bit her lip when she realized it and looked down at the ground silently with a slight flush on her face.

Listening to Terrie with interest, Emris about forgot that they were heading back inside until the back of his home came into view. 'Amazing...' He thought looking back to Terrie with some surprise. After all it'd been a while since someone had taken his full attention.

Squeezing her hand, Emris chuckled. "Sure, Terrie." His tail brushed against hers and the foxtaur smiled kindly. "We'll get you what ever type of mantle for the fireplace that you want for your home."

The squeeze on her hand and brush on her tail made Terrie firm her grip nervously, lest the small wave of warm feeling she recieved was sensed by Emris' hand. She still gave him a thankful grin at his assurances.
The sight of Emris' still candle-lit home made her smile. "It looks so inviting. Chilly and dark out here, but warm and light in there. It's lovely. All it needs is someone inside it." She gave his hand another tug as a crisp breeze ruffled her hair and gave her a chill.

Laughing Emris followed Terrie's tug, "I guess we can fix that then." He whispered in a warm reply. His eyes sparkled warmly and the foxtaur bounced along happily. Feeling the chill in the air, Emris took his turn at tugging Terrie along. "It's getting a bit chilly. So we should hurry!" Yelling the last part freely into the crisp night air Emris took off into a run and gently pulled Terrie along with him.

Terrie was a bit confused when Emris started yelling, then she quickly found the fun in it and laughed loudly, running with small leaps to keep up with him.
She was breathing heavily by the time they reached the house. While waiting for Emris to get the door, it was his house after all, she looked up at the sky. "Stars may be night fliers, but even they have early risers." She said in a rare state of fancy, admiring the faint stars that were already bidding goodnight to the lingering coral glow from the sun.

After opening the door that led back into the kitchen, Emris looked up at the early stars with Terrie. "That's true..." He replied looking back at Terrie with a small smile. Looking at the twinkling lights that sparkled in the vast night sky, the foxtaur sighed softly. "They really are beautiful aren't they?"

"Yes. They are." Terrie blinked and shook her head. What odd wimsy had that been? Though Emris seemed to be in the same one she had, so she felt a little better about it.
A stiff wind made her gasp and slip quickly passed the male and into the house, and she sighed in contentment at the instant warmth and comfort she recieved. "Ah. You're home sweet home." She said with a chuckle, rubbing her arms to chase away the last chill.
