Something to read before the next issue comes out

A young girl of 15 walked down the platforms of the London Train Station with her trunk and coat on since it was raining but not in her uniform yet, she was fingering a small badge in shape of a P between her pointer finger and middle finger on her right hand. She muttered something incoherently to herself as she then stopped right under the sign that said platform 9, she looked up to the sign that said Ten then looked around to see if anyone was watching her. The 15 year old then turned her trunk around and charged for the brickwall that seperated the two platforms. Once she hit the wall she passed right through straight into the other side which was crowded by other people of her kind with weird hats on or just cloaks with hoods.

This young girl's name was Ami White and she stood at the entrance to the place for the Hogwarts express. She was now entering her fifth year here at school and 3rd to last. Ami looked around her dark brown hair blowing into her face then shivered. That September 1st was always either cold or just cold. Ami took a few steps forward and then stopped again when she saw a familiar face, it was the famous now Headboy and Quidditch Captain for Gryffindor, James Potter. She knew this only because of how she was made prefect and all. Ami smiled and begun to walk yet again but this time she headed straight for the train because she wanted a good place with her friends and all.

James Potter rubbed a hand vigorously over his messy black hair. Usually this would have been an attempt to achieve that bed-head look he was known for, but today it was simply to dry off his head. That September first was a rainy one, and looking around the platform, one could see that James was not the only one that had gotten caught on his way to King?s Cross Station. The lanky boy sat on his trunk, mindlessly twirling a snitch in his right hand, as he waited for the Hogwarts Express to take him off to his 7th year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Though he was headboy he erally didn't want to be all that strict about everything around him, he just yawned and sat where he was.

The platform did look slightly crowded now with all the parents, first years and up. James was glad that he was now in his last year for one reason, he was the ruler of this castle practically and no one would really be able to stop him and his friends. Though there were some little kids that acted just like them when they were young he knew that the name Marauders would stand forever at the famous school. Rubbing a hand through his hair again he felt the wetness of it fall onto the ground below him. Where was Lily when he would need her, no wait, he was over her, yes that was it, he had given up on the girl he had loved for the past 6 years and he really knew there was a life beyond Lily Evans and he was waiting for it.

Lily shivered slightly as the rain fell down on her. She drew her cloak tighter to her body and her emerald orbs glanced down at the shining silver pin that indicated she was the Head Girl. She?d always wanted the title, ever since her first year, just so she?d be able to inflict wrath on her stalker James Potter. She?d tied her hair back in a ponty tail that morning, but didn?t like the crease let in her hair after the hair got wet so she expertly pulled the band free and shook her flaming red hir out. The first thing people noticed about Lily?s appearance was her hair. It was an exotic deep red that fell down to her shoulders. The second thing was her eyes, they always shone like brightly polished emeralds even in the darkest of nights.

Lily closed her eyes letting the precipitation fall down on her face. It felt cool and refreshing on her skin, she?d been cooped up in her rom all summer in order to evade Petunia and her boyfriend. She despised the gorilla like man with a burning passion. "Oh well at least I can be away form them at school."

Putting the snitch away James sighed and then stood up to stretch out his legs because they were cramping up now since he was sitting on the ground. He stuck a hand in his pocket and his fingers found themselves around the head's badge that he was given. Taking it out he tinkered with it then put it back into his pocket. Once he looked up he saw her in the distance. No you are over her James, remember that James shook his head and just watched from the distance he was at before then he let one of the train workers take his trunk except for his robes and wand.

"Ok so maybe I should get onto the train, I'm headboy and all so I have to stick to my responsibilities" He said then turned around getting ready to climb onto the train his glasses askew he pushed them back and ran a hand through his hair, that bad habit he had would never go away.

Lily handed her trunk off an headed towards the front of the train. What, or rather who she saw made her stop dead in her tracks.
'Not Potter!' She thought eyes glancing around the slowly thinning crowd.
She sighed. You can deal with him Lily. He's just another obstacle put in your way.
She strode over toards the doors and boarded the train completely ignoring the boy as she passed.

Narcissa kissed her parents on their cheeks and bade them goodbye in the dignified way expected. She scowled as a group of first years got into her way and she used magic to get her trunk on board - she certainly would not be carrying the blasted thing around! She could now use magic out of school, so she would use it to get it on the train!

She scowled as she noticed the Potter boy and mudblood Evans, she couldn't believe a pure-blood family such as the Potters could be such a pile of blood traitors, but then she'd never have expected a fellow Black to be one either! She scowled angrily at the thought of her cousin Sirius and found herself a compartment that was empty. She sat down in one of the seats and crossed one of her slender legs over the other gazing out of the window.

Reina Hart's parents hadn't even bothered to see her off, they'd literally kicked her out off the car and sped off. Sighing she didn't waste time getting onto the train, she just heaved her baggage otno the train and went in search for an empty cart, luckily there were quite a few around since everyone else was still saying goodbye to their parents. Blinking back tears she slumped in a chair and curled up as she looked out the window, at seventeen she was in her final year at Hogwarts and she suspected she wouldn't have a home to return too at the end of the year. Her parents hated her being a witch, it was ironic how she was hated for what she was by pure-blood and some half-blood fanatics while at the same time hated for what she was by her parents. There's no pleasing some people, she thought sadly.

Kassa Dearness hugged her mother goodbye, although it was a rather frosty hug. She'd had yet another arguement about her priorities - they accused her of being a blood traitor, something she couldn't care less about. She didn't care about bloodlines, but her parents did. She had hoped been made captain for the Ravenclaw Quidditch team would make them happy, but apparently not.

"Goodbye mother, father," she said waving at them and once again giving them a frosty hug. She hurried onto the train and found a carriage, she dug through her trunk and looked around for her captains badge looking at it feeling a sense of pride.

James watched as gryffindors clambered onto the train he pulled his badge out but quickly hid it when Lily passed by, what caught his attention and also caused him to practically fall on top of her was the badge she had. "She's headgirl!? Oh this is real nice" he thought straightening himself out then started watching the children again that were climbing aboard, it was only minutes until the train would take off and he had to do his duties. James ran a hand through his hair to make it the way he wanted it to be and then fixed his glasses looking around, where were his friend when he needed to see them? Pausing for a minute James watched Narcissa get on board and stalk off. "God that girl needs to get a fricken life" he muttered under his breathe.

Narcissa was growing impatient as the train made stationary, she really didn't like being on it. If she was surrounded by her fellow Slytherins then it wouldn't be so bad, but they weren't anywhere in sight. And she really didn't want to end up mixing with mudbloods, with first years you never knew for a while who was worth talking too and who was just worthless. Scowling she looked out the window again, her impatience growing.

Reina sighed as people trampled past her compartment, yet no one came in. She tried to tell herself that this year would be different but she knew it wouldn't. She was too shy, she tended to avoid large crowds as much as she hated herself for it. She stood up and walked over to the door leaning against it as she looked up and down the corridors for a familiar face she could at least smile at.

Kassa was already in her school robes, the captain badge pinned proudly to her chest. She quickly put her hair into her braided pigtails, she wore them like this since her second year when she'd made the quidditch team as Seeker. It kept the hair out of her eyes, not only that but she liked her hair that way. It stayed neat and she didn't have to constantly worry about her appearance.

A young teen of only seventeen had just crossed the barrior onto the platform, he was dressed in normal sized robes with yellow rim on them indicating he was in Hufflepuff. "Riku! There you are, I heard that you made Captain this year for the hufflepuff Quidditch team, am I right?" Looking to his side Riku Maeko smirked and nodded. "Yes its true" he said pointing to the badge he had with him. "Well anyway see you later whoever you are" He thought walking on heading towards the train, he spotted James at the door to the train and saw that he had the headboy badge on. "Well thats a surprise" Riku muttered to himself then walked over to drop a few things off then get on once he got on he looked to James again and called to him. "I see your headboy, did you make Captain for the Quidditch team?"

James looked over when he felt the feeling someone was talking to him he spotted Riku and smirked right back at him. "yes I did and it seems you have to, I guess that means we're more of enemies just in Quidditch" He said walking over to him. "Lily just passed saying nothing, does that mean she's still the same old one that hates my guts?" He added looking at Riku. They started to talk for awhile and also waited for their friends.

----As I sit here with my mug of Jasmine Tea (yes Elfies, I do like to drink it in real life) I?m thinking about what you guys, the readers, must be thinking. Yea, I know what you?re all thinking, ?finally!? As I sit here with my Valentine?s Day decorated mug of Jasmine Tea, I remember and I can?t believe that a year ago I posted the first issue of this thing and I can believe less that I haven?t posted the last five issues! sweatdrop As I sit here with my pink and red mug of Jasmine tea with SweetHearts painted onto it, I think about this guild and what it?s been through and I think about how this paper has seen it all. Its first issue may have been posted two months after the guild?s creation, but it started in the works before the official guild was ever made. So, I suppose this is an Issue full of memory and an Issue full of hopes for the future. Well, here it is, at last. A few notes: I had to cut some articles because they were ?current event?-type articles, but those were all written by me. No guild literary genius has been wasted, I promise. Now, I?ve continued with the Scorgufy ads, because they hold sentimental value to me and because a lot of the newbies haven?t really had a chance to see them. You?ll also notice my new personal article called ?Mafalda?s Finds? I want you all to know that I?ve been working on that one since before issue seven. It?s my pride and joy. Finally, new members, you?ll notice a lot of works written by people who are no longer members of our guild. I want you all to read their articles in this issue and previous ones. This paper used to be a constant thing, without fail and our most active members wrote for me in return for wages and having the satisfaction of helping to create a paper that is unique to any other Harry Potter guild through-out Gaia and possibly other posting forums. Anyone can write for the Hogwarts Monthly. With the help of new members, maybe we can get this baby back to its old brilliance and maybe even send it off to greater heights.

Thank you,
Mafalda Prewett

Hogwarts Express Vandalized!*

By Peeves the Poltergeist

User Image----- Just a little over a week before the Hogwarts Winter term started, the school's train was found vandalized. The train's whereabouts are not aloud to be displayed to the public, but a maintenance crew cleans and inspects the train at the end of every summer so that it may be clean inside and out, quite literally. But when they opened the doors to the train's holding container, they found it covered in graffiti.
----- "The door usually stays locked, and it still was when I got there. But when I opened the door, there it was. I have no idea how anyone could have gotten in, I hold the only key." Said the train's driver when interviewed, "We'll have it cleaned up in a jiffy and the train will leave as always, but it's still discomforting to know someone can get to the train and write all over it."
----- The damage included every inch of the outer walls covered with spray paint, rude remarks written all over each and every window, glue in all the locks, and, somehow, whopping-cushions inside all of the seats.

*Note from the editor: I cannot confirm or deny that Peeves wrote this piece, that he did or did not enact the vandalism mentioned, or if it is indeed true at all-Mafalda Prewett

Headmistress Having Difficulties Keeping Leadership: Changes in Faculty

By Figgy Prewett
-----As many of the readers know, the Headmistress, Pinkie, has had a lot of difficulty the past few terms keeping teachers and Heads of Houses. Since Operation Scourgify, the school has had two Head of House replacements. There has also been some trouble with keeping teachers. But one of the biggest troubles has been finding and keeping a Head Elf. KatKePin and EamaneLinwe were pointed joint Head Elves at the end of December and both have resigned since then. One can only hope that this term the teachers and Heads stay at the school and stay active in their duties.

School Dayz

By Reese_Roper
-----As you might have noticed, it?s time for a new term. Along with the new term comes new classes and teachers!
-----A familiar face with a new class, Professor Lizzie Curzon has started a cooking class for House Elves. Professor Curzon already taught Arithmancy to students, but decided this term to teach the cooking class as well. ?I love numbers and cooking so they seemed the obvious choices,? she says when asked why she chose these classes. Cooking was formerly taught by Professor Alasse Anwamane. Professor Reese Coasté ®ow teaches the other half of Anwamane?s house elf class, cleaning. Coasté ³ays she chose cooking because, ?I believe that with cleanliness comes efficiency, and with efficiency comes progress.?
-----Professor Anwamane is muggle-born witch who is the new Ancient Runes teacher. She has traveled around the world, and says she will enjoy sharing her experience with her pupils. She also says it will ?benefit those who are also taking Divination, since ancient runes are often used in divination.?
-----Divination is taught by Professor Malfada Prewett. Professor Prewett is a long-time teacher here at Hogwarts, and many students benefit from her teaching. ?I feel it is my duty to show Hogwarts students that Divination is not just for the clairvoyant,? says the professor. ?Honestly, I just want them to understand the theory. I know that there are those who, despite their hardest efforts, are unable to see beyond what is written in the stars, cards, or numbers.?
-----Also teaching at Hogwarts this term are Professors Hope Maxime Hagrid, the part giant in charge of Care of Magical Creatures, Igor Elentier, instructing Astronomy, and Jon, who is schooling in Defense Against the Dark Arts.
-----Where the students are enjoying their classes, so are their teachers. Says Professor Demarest Bourbon-Philippe on her class, History of Magic, ??Wizard history is my field of study. I love it more than anything else.? Others have rather interesting reasons. Muggle Studies teacher Professor Teneviel explains, ?I know a lot of my students don't like Muggles. I'm not very fond of them myself. That is why it is important to understand them.?
-----So join some classes today! Pop in for Professor Curzon?s pop quiz, or gaze at the stars through Professor Elentier?s telescope. I hear from Professor Prewett that a winning house is in your future, and completing homework will fulfill your fortune!
