The blond pressed her palms together and tipped her head, shifting her weight from foot to foot; they were going numb from the snow. "Well... It's getting colder, I think. I, personally, am going to go head to my dorm." She smiled and began to take a step away before pausing.
"Fern, would you like to come with?" She cocked her head and turned towards the footpath that would lead to the Keystone dorms. "We'll probably see you around campus, Scarlett. It's been wonderful chatting with you, though! You too, Verdi, Gerald." She smiled, acknowledging them despite their former silence.

((*shakes self out of stupor* Um, I still wouldn't mind doing this RP, even if you guys want to wait until the ball is over... Gerald has to explore the school ground sometime, after all. Anyone else still in?))

((Okay, I PMed Arondis, and she said she'll pop back in with Verdi after January 1st, so I'm going to make a post to get the ball rolling too!))

Gerald felt the chill in the air as the day fell past its peak. If he was going to see any of the campus before the sun started setting, he would have to get going. He was trying to come up with a politic way of saying he really did have to be going when MaryAnne's departure gave him just the right excuse to push his own agenda.

"Hmm, we should get going too if we plan to find our way around campus before dark," he observed quietly to Verdi.

Verdi nodded and replied just as quietly. "Agreed." It had been nice in a way, but being with a bunch of people at one time wasn't her thing. The most interesting part had been to observe.

There was an angel, fae, and a fallen angel attending the school. Who knew what other types of people they would find here? That was a question in the green-haired girl's mind. She would be determined to find out later. Right now, exploring the rest of the campus before nightfall would be helpful.

"It was nice to meet you all." There. That was polite. Taking a step back from the group that turned her slightly away, she waited for Gerald to take his leave as well.

((I finally got a post up! ^_^))

((Yay! ^_^ Erm, I think I'll pop something in the Winter Ball thread on the main forum, just so folks realize we're moving on...))

Gerald, not bothering to break his silence now, inclined his head toward Fern and Scarlett and then toward MaryAnne. In the end, no one had paid him any mind. Someday, he would have to make formal introductions; people should at least learn his name. Realizing he had been facing MaryAnne a moment too long, he followed up with a step back toward Verdi, making it clear he was going to leave with her.

((Good idea mrgreen ))

Seeing that Gerald would follow, Verdi led the way down one of the paths. Perhaps it connected with another outdoor section of the school? These grounds seem to be fairly large, but well kept as far as she could tell.

It took a moment, both students were walking at a moderately slow pace, but soon they were out of earshot of the rest of the dispersing group.

"That was...interesting. And what about you Mr.Silence?" Playfully poking her walking buddy on the shoulder, she continued. "What did you think?" Though she didn't know him well, she had a good enough sense of him to figure that had been a more odd situation for him than he had bargained for. Heck, it had been more than she had bargained for and she talked with spirits most days!

The angel paused, casting a glance at Verdi and Gerald as they left; her hand was raised in a slight wave. She found her eyes lingering on Gerald's back, a curisoity for him growing, before MaryAnne dropped her hand to her side, turned away and headed towards her dorms at a fair but purposeful pace.
She found herself singing softly as she walked, "Heart, don't fail me now, courage, don't desert me! Don't turn back now that we're here. People always say life is full of choices... No one ever mentions fear! Or how a road can seem so long, how the world can seem so vast. Courage see me through, heart I'm trusting you..!" She closed her eyes, a smile gracing her features.

Fern looked after the three with a rather forlorn expression. Why had everyone suddenly left? She thought they were really hitting it off...

"Well... guess I'm off like the wind." Fern glanced about her before turning into a small, glittering orb of light in the dimming sun, and going off to her own place for the night.

Gerald exhaled softly. 'Interesting' didn't even begin to cover it. Maybe Verdi, who seemed more used to dealing with daily doses of insanity, wasn't as taken aback by all this as he was. What he was thinking was that 1) he had totally lost it or 2) this was going to be a lot harder than he thought. 'This' being his entire career at Grove Academy. Although he was still haven't trouble accepting reality as it presented itself, his mind was already working overtime. If there were many special students such as the ones they had just encountered, then it would completely alter the normal social structure. Not exactly within groups of 'normal' and 'not-normal' but on the larger whole. In fact, despite the strangeness (and possible danger?), knowing as many of these strange students as he could might well be the best course of action. Or, at least, knowing as much about them as possible. That sort of knowledge went beyond just knowing who was dating whom and whose family had the most money. That, Gerald thought, would be a worthy challenge for his skills.

Provided he hadn't totally lost it.

The silence had dragged on for too long. So... how much should he reveal of his thoughts to Verdi? Working outside the normal realm as she did, she might prove to be more useful than he had first guessed. He decided to shoot straight with her and see what she had to add.

"A fairy... an angel... a fallen angel..." He spoke so quietly he was almost muttering to himself, but he glanced at Verdi to make sure she was listening. "Scarlett seemed normal."

If he'd been able to think more clearly at the time, he might have invited Scarlett to walk with them. More feedback from a 'normal' person would have helped him figure out how others were going to react to all this.

"Think so?" Verdi thought about the girl that had joined their little gathering last. "Yeah, I suppose you'd be right on that one." As for the spirit-seer, she knew that she wasn't included in that normal group, but that was ok with her. She was used to being grouped with the 'freaks'. Though she doubted she'd be called that here.

"And I think you mean...oh, what was it!?" Stomping, she stopped dead in her tracks trying to think. In a sense, she was almost as lost as Gerald, but now that they were on the subject snippets of information were coming to her. Plenty of books had been read in her spare time, not to mention listening to ancient spirits. Magic or magical creatures hadn't been so foriegn at one point in history. At first, these stories were only interesting for their unique qualities, but now...if there was any truth in those tales..."A fae!" Ignoring any reaction of Gerald's to her sudden stop, Verdi continued like nothing had happened. "That's the correct term you're looking for, I'm pretty sure." She glanced at him. This was going to take him some time, that much was apparent.

"Ok, take a deep breath and wrap your head around what you've seen. It's all real."

Gerald tripped a bit trying to stop when the odd girl next to him did. Fairy? Fae? What's the difference? Gerald blinked at Verdi for a moment. Despite her unpredictable and unstable nature, the young man was getting the strange feeling she knew what she was talking about. He was obviously going to have to start doing some research... perhaps he could get his computer set up this evening. For now, back to the original plan.

"Onward then." He ignored Verdi's reassurance and started ambling down the path again. Not that he had been paying attention to the direction they were heading, but ahead, there was a large building. Through the windows, he could see shelves. The library then. That was as good a place to start as any with their tour. Not needing to glance back to hear that Verdi was following, he led the way up the side path toward the impressive structure.

------

An elf and a fae walked into the gazebo. The air was chilled, but it didn't seem to affect them at all. At least, not Fern. She was all aglow with happiness, not minding if her wings were a bit frosted.

They had spent the walk hand-in-hand, something that made Fern's heart flit like a swallow. Gavin to her was handsome and wonderful, but she couldn't help but wonder if she was just as nice to him.
They were still holding hands when she thought this, though Fern wasn't about to be that bold.

"It's nice out, with the snow fallin' just a bit," she said with her cheeks pink from the chill and her blushing.

Gavin smiled and squeezed her hand, surprised that she had consented to share that whole walk with their hands and fingers entwined. They looked like a couple to the rest of the world, smiling at each other, laughing, and generally being close. The elven boy looked down at her and smiled.
" It's beautiful." What he thought was beautiful, however, was up for grabs..
