Kaien waited until Gladys left before going outside his office to find Shadow sleeping. He shook her shoulder gently. "Wake up, this is not a good place for a nap, and I have some things to discuss with you."

His voice was gentle, but stern. He had resolved to let her know his displeasure without seeming to be angry.

Kaien sat, rubbing the area between his eyes. He was still a little exhausted from being drained of blood so quickly, but the feeling would soon pass. He sighed a little and folded his hands, looking directly at Shadow.

"Listen, I am not going to formally punish you for this, but I do think that you need to take some responsibility for your actions. The chief aim of this academy is to protect the Mortals in this realm - that means to protect them from what happened between you and Muse."

"I understand your position as a Vampire among so many mortals must be difficult. There must be times when your resolve slips and you desire a taste of real blood rather than that which we provide for you. However, your position as a Noble vampire lends itself to some completely different sets of responsibilities."

"Shadow, you must set an example for others by being strong-willed and by ignoring your instinct. You have this unique ability, that when used against mortals, makes them into one of your own."

"Muse will have great trials facing her. She will be thirsty for blood, but can not drink any but that which we provide. As a punishment for your actions, you will guide her through these changes and take responsibility for her care until such time as she can be trusted alone. Do you understand?"

Kaien raised an eyebrow. "Animal blood over human blood? That's odd, but I'll take your word for it."

He sighed again, rifling through his desk. "You've already been on campus for some time, I'm aware, so you're already acquainted with the majority of our rules. The biggest responsibility you have - other than looking after your own powers - is keeping the secret of Grove Academy. Human students are to know nothing of the Gateway itself. They may know of your origins and your powers, but not that you arrived in this realm through the Grove gateway. Consequently, it would seem as if you have the opportunity to educated Muse of her own new culture. She is the only exception I have ever made."

Kaien pulled out a shiny metal key with the numbers 303 etched on it. "You'll already know where your room is, 303 right next to Muse's. Do you have any other questions?"

Walking swiftly, but quietly down the hallway, the white-haird woman stopped in front of the headmaster's door and knocked firmly. She carried a small bag of leather. Kaien had called her here to discuss the gateway and the ripples that were radiating from it. It was a matter that deeply worried them both, she hoped he had some information of his own; and yet, there was another reason for her presence, something that made her smile more warmly than normal.

Following Kaien into his office, she handed him the leather bag. "I brought a replinishing tea mix. I find in this line of work, it helps a great deal." Smiling as she took her seat, she crossed her ankles and took in the headmaster's tired appearance. "Rough day?" A normal human probably wouldn't have noticed so much, he carried himself well, but she her trained eyes could see it. Running a school like this was hard work for anyone.

"Very often." Kaien was already aware of her bad sleeping habits, which consisted of her sleeping every once in awhile. She had made the blend herself and perfected it a long time ago. It was what she most commonly drank. "That should help. I remember what it was like to run a place such as this." Such a long time ago, she thought as she took her own cup and took a drink. Setting the cup back down, she had to continue now with business. It came before personal matters, though she hoped they would speak later. Perhaps over dinner...

"Kaien, the gateway is a high concern right now, as you know. Gabe and I have been on vigilient watch ever since we took up our posts. Neither of us know how, but something has slipped through."

Lacing her fingers together, Arondis rested her hands on her lap and shook her head. "It hasn't been pinpointed. Best case senario, whatever came through was powerful enough to cause the ripples. Worst case," She sighed. So far the best case senario really wasn't a relief at all, so the headmaster would know the worst case senario was terrible even before she spoke. "some force has caused a rip in the gateway, unstabilizing it, eventually resulting in a dangerous portal that would allow anyone and anything, through it. The secret of the gateway and the Realms would unravel." It was something all of them knew they could not let happen. It was dangerous to dwellers of the Realms and the human realm as well. Chaos would reign both.
