I remember my 6th grade band teacher told us to choose our instruments, and we had to write our top three down. I wrote 1. Percussion 2. Clarinet, and 3. Flute. I remember being dissapointed when I got flute, but now I LUV it!!!!!

I chose flute, because of how very few people in my school band play it sweatdrop I used to think it was hard, But it was pretty easy, once I learned how to play it xD

I play trumpet (like my father) I wanted to be in purcution, but then he was like "nooooo! Play brass," so I was like blaugh French horn & he was like "noooo! Start on trumpet and we'll see from there" Then the next year he spent liek $600 on a trumoet for me. It's not like i could say no to that. But I do like it, my section's always fun blaugh

I went with flute because I had been a band groupie for about a year, and I desperately wanted to be part of the group. I found my mom's old flute in the basement, and I was all "I'm going to learn to play this." so I did :3
Now I've fallen in love with the trumpet, so I'm trying to learn how to play it. Not quite sure what I'm doing, but I kinda got Taps out of it the other day and I was so ecstatic <3
I'm not quite sure which I love more yet, but we'll see? biggrin

why I chose horn...
my mom plays horn, and when I was younger she would always let me buzz into it sometimes, and I liked playing it. I also loved the sound. In 4th grade when they had us choose our instruments, they didn't offer horn, and I was really sad. My mom was thrilled that I wanted to play horn so she got me this crummy yamaha horn for like 300 bucks (I loved it at the time). My mom told me that if she was going to buy the horn, then I wasn't allowed to quit till 8th grade. 6 years later I'm still playing and love it and want to be a music major when I go to college.

We did this big long selection process, and then it ended up that the trumpet just felt right in my hands. And besides, it sounded the coolest biggrin

I wanted to play Alto or Tenor Saxophone, but after going over some of my personal strengths and weaknesses; i decided to play Horn. Everything was history after that...lol. After getting the hang of Horn, i branched out to other brass instruments, some percussion, and someday i will work my way back to Alto and Tenor one of these days...lol

From the first day, I had chosen the tuba because I thought it would be cool to play the largest instrument in the band; but later on, I realized that the tuba player is, if not the, one of the most important players in the band and that made me love it even more. Moreover, I just fell in love with the gorgeous low tones that it produces, as well as how everyone else seems to think so. (just like this one time during wind ensemble, there was this lady sitting off to the side and when we stopped playing, she pointed at me and said "I love that instrument." It makes me proud to have put so much effort into doing what I do best)

I remember that I wanted to play the trombone. So, on the day that we chose our intsruments, the local music store came by and let us try out the instruments. I tried the trombone and got quite a decent sound out on it, but then my friend was nervous about trying the clarinet, and wanted me to try it with her. So I did. AND I FELL IN LOVE, lol. My friend ended up dropping out of band after a day. But that was nearly 10 years ago, and I still love meh clarinet!

I wanted, at first, to play flute, then I wanted to play sax, then I wanted to play percussion, but in the end, my dad had his old trumpet from when he was a kid, and I didn't want to make my parents buy a new instrument or anything for me, so I just played the trumpet.
I never wanted to play the trumpet, but after the first year playing it, I loved it so much, that I've just kept playing it, for about 4 years now. I don't think I'd be happy with any other instrument. blaugh

So I play the clarinet..
And I'm pretty sure I was playing it before my school let us start playing. My older sister had one and she taught me how to play.
I also play the trumpet.. I think it was just odd obsession that made me want to learn..
I play the bass clarinet too.. turns out that thing is bigger than me sad I played it because we needed one for an amazing song that we played that will remain nameless (:
And I tried to play basoon.. but my hands are too small :'( I wish I could have kept trying to learn.. but my band teacher got accepted in duluth to help teach.. so he left. =[

When it was time to decide, it was between the clarinet and the saxophone. I picked the sax becuz the clarinet wasnt bold enough for me. I started with alto, but the BD needed a TEnor. I switched for both JAzz band and concert band. I now play both better because of it. I heart saxophones!!!!
