*Enki looks back up at Vince with a slight glare, but a hint of a smirk*
Ya, that last one about covers it. My daughters are strong enough to take care of themselves, no matter how much the father in my like to tell me otherwise. I don't really care how he treats people, it's none of my concern. The GSF is often looks down upon because of it's lack of formal orginization, so that matters none to me as well.
*Enki then cocks an eyebrow*
If I may, how is it that you could possibly know that?

Enki Leviathan *Enki looks back up at Vince with a slight glare, but a hint of a smirk* Ya, that last one about covers it. My daughters are strong enough to take care of themselves, no matter how much the father in my like to tell me otherwise. I don't really care how he treats people, it's none of my concern. The GSF is often looks down upon because of it's lack of formal orginization, so that matters none to me as well. *Enki then cocks an eyebrow* If I may, how is it that you could possibly know that? Vincent's smile grew wider as he placed his pipe down on the table and spread his hands. "Mr. Leviathan, I'm from an aristocratic society. As well as my 'hobby' of studying famous modern day heros, it is in my best interest to gather as much gossip as possible. You never know what tit-bit of information might help later on down the track...organised crime uses it all the time. Blackmail is such a strong word for the term...extortion, however, is eloquent - but sinister. At the same time, such criminals can be put away by the slip of a tongue from the lowest henchman to the right ears - crime fighters are a dime a dozen these days. The vigilante element, too, has begun to run rampart over a lot of cities...as they say in this day and age, 'the new currency is information'."Taking up his pipe once more, he tapped the dead ash from the pit into the ashtray and wiped it off with a hankerchief before placing it into his breast coat pocket - and pulling out a small silver cigerette tray, the ornate and expensive item flicking open to reveal a stack of cigerettes within the soft red velvet interior. There were three kinds - ones that were normal white cigerettes with the little speckled filters on the end, what seemed to be normal rolled up ones - and strange looking ones, rolled with a certain type of paper with tiny writings inscribed on the - Then the case snapped shut as Mercy slipped it back into the pocket from whence it came, pulling out his ornate gold lighter and flicking it open, the green flame casting a pallid hue on his face as he lit the cigerette up before snapping the lighter shut with the flick of the wrist., thick smoke pouring out of his mouth as he took a long, slow drag and let it ooze out of his mouth. It hung around them, a stark contrast to the green-esque smoke of his pipe, as he began to speak once more. "There is a reason for my interest in Tomorrow, but that can stay for another time - right now i'd like to know more about your GSF. You have a operative in it with a codename of Nighthunter, correct?"

*Enki merely cocks an eyebrow. He wasn't sure who all knew of his thing with Tomorrow besides the two of them, Fae, and Tellus. But the questioning from this man was beginning to grow suspicious on Enki*
That information is not to be given to the public. If you know something about the GSF, then good for you, we let you know. But I don't answer ANY questions that ANYONE has about the Gaian Special Forces

Enki Leviathan *Enki merely cocks an eyebrow. He wasn't sure who all knew of his thing with Tomorrow besides the two of them, Fae, and Tellus. But the questioning from this man was beginning to grow suspicious on Enki* That information is not to be given to the public. If you know something about the GSF, then good for you, we let you know. But I don't answer ANY questions that ANYONE has about the Gaian Special Forces Vincent smiled slightly. He seemed nonplussed that Enki blatantly shot down his question - perhaps even a little amused. "It appears I've lost your trust, Mr. Leviathan..." He said with a small sigh, pausing breifly to take a drag from the cigerette in his hand. "Perhaps we could try again some other day."The mis-matching smoke from the pipe and the cigerette seemed more evident now, as the thick clouds slowly flowed from Mercy's mouth into the air like dye clouding water. The off-green smoke was slowly being mixed in with the normal grey smoke, flowing around them in a slow cloud that hung for a moment before being lazily sucked into the air conditioning system to be blown out into the sky. No doubt they both breathed it. As did anybody else that might have wandered around them. It's extremely hard to avoid second-hand smoke. And even if you did, there was always your skin. Gas affects your dermis as much as water did, albiet at a very, very slow rate compared to water. "I can recall Kasuga being defeated in one-on-one combat by Tomorrow too...the man does get around." Vincent said quietly. By now Enki's vision would begin to swim a little, perhaps even hard, depending on how much he'd breathed in or absorbed. "I beleive he had killed over two thousand people in Durem a while back - not to mention destroying a lot of property owned by my company. That kind of thing makes me...nauseous."It was strange. It was like the room was swirling now. People's faces were peeling off to reveal their true skins beneath - muscle and sinew, endlessly running veins, bones, internal organs pumping viciously. Their eyes pitted out to emptiness, their teeth growing hard and grey as they aged, their nails chipping and growing as the rigor mortis set in, their tongues shriveling in their jaws as Mercy opened his mouth and let out a sudden blast of green smoke which filled Enki's eyes and ears and nose and mouth and - Vincent frowned, cocking his head to the side as he snapped his fingers in front of Enki's eyes to draw his attention. "Mr. Leviathan? I asked you about this Tomorrow character?"His pipe lay in his other hands, his fingers curled slightly around the edge of the cup. Everybody was going about their lives as if nothing had happened. "Mr. Leviathan? The reasons why Tomorrow has failed to defeat Maximos?" The young man in the business suit sitting before Enki sighed visibly, looking a little dissapointed as he sat back in his chair, puffing his unique pipe and awaiting an answer that was several minutes overdue. ...Or was it?

*Enki shakes his head a bit and looks at Vincent. The urge to pull out his seldomly used gun was very strong at this point, but he decides not to and stands up*
I'm sorry, Mister Mercy, but I am a very busy man and must be on my way...
*With that Enki stands and exits the second floor of the cafe, going back into the lobby, looking around for someone he thought he felt down there*
((Ya, that'd be you, Lu-Lu))

Enki Leviathan *Enki shakes his head a bit and looks at Vincent. The urge to pull out his seldomly used gun was very strong at this point, but he decides not to and stands up* I'm sorry, Mister Mercy, but I am a very busy man and must be on my way... *With that Enki stands and exits the second floor of the cafe, going back into the lobby, looking around for someone he thought he felt down there* ((Ya, that'd be you, Lu-Lu)) ((Jeez, i was expecting a bit more of a reaction then that... rolleyes )) Mercy didn't get up. He didn't even seem very surprised. He simply stared at the seat that Enki had occupied not moments before and whispered, almost to himself... "Was it something I said?"**** In the lobby, Enki would feel his gun stirring in it's holster, moving and squirming like a madman trying to escape it's straightjacket. It's hungry barrel moaned to release it's present buried neatly within into the nearest piece of meat, Enki's fingers curling and uncurling as the thought leapt up in his mind again and again... Before he would blink. The gun still a lifeless hunk of metal, his hands still. Was this happening within his head, all within a split second, or was he actually moving and reacting with these...bizarre and macarbe visions that continually haunted him? Up above, Vincent had gotten up and pulled a book from a shelf before moving down to the lobby to stand beside Enki, taking the book out at the counter as he turned to look at his companion, a mysterious look on his handsome face as his mouth opened to pour that green smoke out, thick and oiley and consuming Enki as a whole, filling his body with it's green ooze to pump in his veins and flow out of his eyes like rich emerald blood - "Perhaps a nice glass of water for you, Mr. Leviathan." Vincent said with a touch of concern in his voice as he slipped a business card with his details into Enki's coat pocket. "You really do look a bit ill."Thanking the young woman behind the counter kindly, Vincent then turned and walked slowly out of the building, still puffing his pipe as if he didn't have a care in the world, pausing at the entrance to blow smoke into a boy's face as he entered through the door - and dissapeared as easily as he had shown up.

*The moment Enki felt the pistol that he rarely ever used wriggling inside it's holster, Enki knew something was wrong. There was a poison in his system that must be rid of... and there was only one way to be sure that this poison wouldn't affect him in the future... he needed to flush it out, and now. Down in the lobby, Enki's skin begins to ripple, as if someone had dropped a penny into a still pond. Shortly after, his clothes mold into his skin as his facial features seem to whipe themselves off of his face. His bones crack for a moment as his skin become translucient, then turns a clear blue colour as his body contorts and grows. His long hair raises and recieds, turning into "fins" of sorts as his arms elongate and his face grows into a snout of sorts. His hands mold together to form three large claws as a long, blue tail grows out from behind him. Finally, his knees, fold in on themselves and bend backwards as his whole body shakes slightly, finishing the form that is Leviathan.
Leviathan turns to the man as he walks down the stairs as his eyes pulsate a light blue hue*
What is that green smoke, Vincent Mercy, and what did it do to my human form?

Was Vincent at the stairs? Perhaps not. In fact, he was nowhere to be seen. "Thats an interesting little transformation..." Mercy said quietly from the top floor as Enki's view of the initial Vincent melted away into green smoke, the world still tinged in a sickly hue even in that form. The well-pressed man was leaning on the railing looking down at the creature by the counter, a look of smug interest on his face. "I always meant you no harm." A voice suddenly said as a hand was placed onto Enki's - before something grazed that fin on the ground - before something whispered into his ear. "And i mean it."Whirling around would reveal nothing but himself, standing there, alone and confused. Was the man toying with him? Was this green smoke enchanted in some way, unshakeable even by tranforming your entire form? Then everything cleared. Like someone had snapped their fingers and freed the hypnotised victim, the green tinge to Enki's sight was gone with a simple blink of an eye. As was Vincent. His book paid for, the change placed neatly on the counter. The coins were even stacked neatly - the man had time to arrange the money in a prim and orderly way, before walking straight past Enki and out into freedom. And to top it off, beside the change sat the business card...this time with a note. No hard feelings. Take care of your daughter. We will talk again later.

After taking a rest at her room, Lucind had walked down the spiral staircase in her room, through the office and into the kitchen where she made herself a sandwhich.
Walking behind the counter she directly saw Enki, smiled and wanted to talk to him when she noticed that he was obviously put out for an unknown reason - and that something else was going on. The blue haired man seemed to be confused as if...being hypnotized.
And then it happened. Lucind's eyes widened when Enki went through his transformation but quickly pulled herself together and walked over to the other guests to calm them down, pretending to be sure everything was fine, that he knew this man and that he wasn't up to harm.
Lucind shot a suspicious look at the leaving man to whom Enki had talked up in the library section. She then approached the Leviathan, frowning. "Enki...? Let's better get out of here. The customers start to get nervous..."

*The creature looks around frantically before turning and looking down at Lucind. Upon seeing her form, the blue glow in his eyes dim as his body "relaxes." He simply looks down at her, then nods in agreement*

Lucind smiled and led him out of the store and around the building to its backside: a small garden with some rose bushes, fruit trees, an iron bench, a lantern and a small, marble fountain was to be found there.
"Now, this is what I call a surprise." The woman turned around to look fascinated at the blue, "liquid" form of Enki. Extending a hand to touch his arm she inquired: "What happened? What did this man want from you?"

((+++ The following action takes place almost three weeks after opening the cafe++)) ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
*** Monster: 1. 'monstrum' (lat.) 'sign of admonition from the gods in form of unnatural phenomenon; changed into verb 2. 'monere' (lat.) 'to remind, to admonish'; later generalized
***
It was early in the morning, streets and buildings of Latent bathed in mist and dawn. Fishers and merchants were already up doing their work or preparing for business. Seagulls fluttered crying around a cutter sailing into the port, all trying to sneak some fresh shrimps or mussles. A tri-coloured cat hurried down the street towards the port, loving the promising smell of sea food. Yet she jumped into a lane and hissed when two persons walked past her: A blue haired woman who appeared to be in her mid-twenties, carrying a backpack. Next to her a tall man - at least the frame indicated it was a man - fully dressed in black. A cowl shadowed the area where one would have expected to find his face, but instead there was a plain black mask with two slits to look through and a single red tear under each of them. Together they really made a strange pair and in fact reaped some curious or suspicious looks which mostly seemed to go for the dark stranger and followed him until they turned right at the next crossroads. * * * "There we are: this is my store," Lucind said nodding towards the large, friendly looking building and rummaged in her bag for the bunch of keys to open the front door. "We'll only open in about three hours therefore I have enough time to show you everything." Lucind locked the door after letting Kraun through. She explained what the first floor was used for, then led on behind the counter into the kitchen. There she made herself a baguette and jasmine tea. The next room to show him was her own where she left backpack and scarf and went on into the library section, giving some explanatory comments, then walking up the spiral staircase onto the third floor with its many seating accomodations where they could watch down onto the book shelves. Finally they used one of the elevators to get onto the roof. "And here's my favourite place." The Half-Siren smiled and took the last steps to the small platform, the highest point of the house. "Usually come here to enjoy the silence....the wind or the moon...," she shrugged and let her look wander around, down into the town. "You can stay here for now," she added after a moment, turning her head to look at the monk. "Think I'll prepare a room for you down in the cellar. Unfortunately, there won't be much sunlight - there're only to small windows under the ceiling....but I'll let some nice lamps be installed later on." She made some steps forward to lean on the railing. "So, think you'll like it here?" With this, she didn't only mean the store but also Latent itself.
