What goes up as they say, must come down. The stalled missiles start to come down. That said there would be enough time to get the shield up and people out though, just a little more reaction time before.

BOOM. Filled with shrapnel.

When the dust settled though the hull would still be somewhat in tact. And then there was a scratching sound. Then the back hatch started to pulse as something began to bang on it. Heavy pounding. That hatch wouldn't last long.

“I donno” Mozz said to Aiolos as he turned back to the Robot “ But we might wanna step back just in case that robot does the same.” With that Mozz ran past the piles of mold that dotted the ground. “Because if that robot explodes with all this mold everywhere, we’re gonna have a serious case of hot foot.

Just then the robot finally exploded and Mozz's eyes grew wide. "RUUUUN!"

The street became a wave of fire as the mold burnt down it like a giant fuse. He hoped behind Ai Leen, who had constructed some sort of barrier. If That couldn't protect him, he was going to become a miniature burning man in a few seconds.

Lah watched the rockets go up, or had earlier. But then, they were going to come down at some point. He was out in the middle of the street, guarding Sam and Kael, or looking like he was doing something important at least.

Buuut, observation time was over. Lah turned around and nonchalantly walked back into the alley or wherever Kael was, if it was a place that was protected from missiles, and plug his ears after sitting down.

Otherwise, back into the nearest not-scheduled-for-destruction building, for another round of hide from the explosions.
PostPosted: Sat May 31, 2008 5:02 pm

Long, drawn out breaths- perfect for a dramatic moment when bodies tensed up and people where stunned to silence from an excitement.

Except of course all Kael's excitement and drama had been more about 'I have a hole in my leg and it doesn't belong there'.

He blinked at the comment, and all of the sudden his eyes narrowed and his mouth stretched, taking up a slow chuckle turning quickly into a hearty laugh. He reached up with a hand- unfortunately the one with more blood on the glove, and touched the second knuckles of his two fore fingers to her forehead, degrading into outright roaring laughter.

Kael put a hand on either of her shoulders, rolling onto his current good, left side, and lifting her up and away, effectively trying to sit both of them up next to each other at once instead of just sitting waiting until she got up on her own. After all, he had a girl friend who could look into other people's heads, who knew when she might decide to take a look through someone's eyes.

"Tell you what. Ask me again when answering wouldn't mean having m' lovely little lady after my head and I'll let ya' know."

He moved back away from her and effectively just scooted himself backward, sitting up but not using his legs at all, until he got his back against something.

The whole time continuing to alternate between chuckling and fits of heavier laughter, letting out all the tension the whole scene had put up in him. Of course, the liquor didn't hurt his humor.

A snort came through the darkness as Ebris managed to catch Shouyin's words toward Ryke. Of course, he didn't see the wink, but he got the general gist of it.

"Haw haw, don't even bother - Throne-damned woman's the biggest dyke I've seen this side of the Sol System. I mean, rath, her last name is Ryke!" Ebris barely contained his rough laughter, knowing he'd have an even more pissed off woman on his a**.

After a bit of walking, they reached an exit point that Spooky was graciously scouting. At least for a moment, before he stated in a very oddly-calm voice about missiles.

Missiles?

"Oh rath."

Ebris got down and braced himself against the side of a slimy wall, waiting for an impact that could bring the whole damn street above down on their skulls.

Then there was an explosion behind Gambion, and the blast coming out of the gap in the wall threw him forward, sending shrapnel after him.

A bit of metal took a slice out of his upper arm. Another bit took a bite out of his side, and a third piece lodged firmly in the back of his shoulder, about two inches to the left of his spine and just a bit beneath his shoulder blade.

Burning pain wracked him, but he had to pull himself up to his feet and get back to the team. He shoved his shotgun into the holster as he crawled forward.

Then, banging came from the robot.

"s**t... That thing isn't dead yet?"

He was going to have trouble moving his left arm until that shrapnel was taken out. Even after that it would suck quite a bit to move it around.

"Don't need to tell me twice!" Aiolos yelled, and he ran after Mozz, going behind the shield of safeness.

The explosion would launch Allen forward, with Athan, just from the shock wave. His wings would be singed, though not badly, but some shrapnel would slice a few gashes into the scales. The solution? Desummon the wings so he wouldn't bleed too much, and stand up in a wobbly fashion. After doing a quick check to make sure that Athan wasn't hurt too badly, even if he seemed to be knocked out, Allen would grip his sword and start walking towards Jacknife.

She grinned, even if she was being handled a bit like a baby. "Don't forget, I might take you up on that, cowboy." Why the cowboy? Mostly it was thinking of her grandfather and how bourbon cured everything for him, or so he'd said about living on a ranch when he was younger.

Luckily, they weren't in the direct line of the explosion, still a block or two away, and around a corner. So the most they felt was a huge heat wave rush past them as the buildings broke it up.

"Fudgesickles!" And ducked again, this time tucking her head between her legs.

Bryant got away for the same reason Sam and Kael did, but again, in a different area. It was much hotter where he was, and he wrapped his coat around him. He couldn't afford difficulties at a time like this. They'd barely gotten started.

"Sorry to disappoint, ma'am,"

EH? Ma'am? Well s**t, that was certainly new. The female bounty hunter sure as could be had never been referred to as anything but "Ryke" or Zandra, hell even the term Miss felt foreign on the tongues of other folk when it came to her. So it was particularly creepy to hear it come from a total stranger who clearly knew nothing about her.

She furrowed a brow, confused and passed the new guy a questioning glance. When he winked, she snickered, snorted and grimaced somewhat. "You're a right odd one. Keep it short and sweet. You just call me Ryke and things don't have to get weird."

Everything would have been dandy until the bounty brute opened his massive jaws to spew his usual insults, calling her a dyke as always and pissing her off with as little effort as possible. "Would you drop that s**t, I'm not a god-damned les' already. ********>

It was pointless to continue, really. Especially once Spooky said something about missles.

Wait, missles?

Ohfux.

As her bounty hunter counterpart did, Ryke took immediate cover and grumbled under her breath.

Shouyin wouldn't have any chance to respond even with a laugh at Ebris' comment (although that guy's vernacular was messed), before one explosion rocked his feet and he was up throwing his back against another wall perpendicular to Ebris as Spooky came down the ladder, chatting off about some missiles.

And then the other explosion came a'rumbling overhead. Pipes rattled and creaked against the pressure, and dust showered against his shoulders as the second blast settled.

"The ******** going on upstairs!?"

The text typed out over HoshiTe's targeting visor, and the AI's Best Likely Scenario schematic popped up in wireframe while the girl kept running. She altered course slightly, following the diagram, and brought both cylindered arms down with a heavy thud upon the ground, setting the now fully formed half-dome shield in place over the unburnt moss Mozz was trailing around. Aiolos soon joined them, and the girl formerly known as Eileen grated out metallically, "Brace for impact and cover yourselves. Estimated shield deterioration in 5 seconds from time of impact."

The shield certainly looked sturdy enough. It seemed to be made of the same red metal that enclosed her forearms and shins, and extended upwards four feet into the air. The half dome was perfect for protecting the three within it as long as they crouched or sat.

"Yeah, I took some shrapnel and I think there's a piece somewhere in my back." He said, pulling himself into a sort of crawling position and leaning back a bit to talk. He couldn't tell exactly where the shrapnel was, it was just a mass of pain in his back, but he could sure as hell tell it was there.

"Got a nick in the arm and the side too, but as long as we can get those stopped bleeding they won't be too bad." Shrapnel wasn't too bad unless it got lodged inside you. Someone would have to pull out the bit in his back.

"Other than that I'm peachy-keen though, how are you?"

He was going to wait a moment before standing up, he wasn't sure he wanted to take that effort just yet.

As the second explosion (or was it the third?) rocked the entire city block, Spooky cursed out loud for once. Sufficiently tired of being unable to act in the face s**t going upstairs. He snarled and grabbed onto his rifle and began to climb back up the ladder. The dust and small amounts of rubble that had fallen from the ceiling onto him a coupe seconds ago drifted off his body and into the lower half of the sewer.

"I don't know Sally, so why don't we go find out?"

By the terseness in his voice, it was obvious that Spooky had lost his patience, and just wanted to go shoot everything upstairs. Which given their objects; was just fine. Four out of six of their team was currently in the sewer and the other two had yet to even land to his knowledge. Friendlies weren't going to be an issue, so in his mind he was weapons free

Using the barrel of his rifle he pushed up on the manhole cover and slid it off before climbing out and assuming a prone position. Covering the others as they got out of the underground and sighting down his EOTech before beginning to fire on anyone who got too close. They were currently located a bit outside of the ******** range, but well within attacking. And as he hadn't actually stood up or even crouched when getting out; the odds of him being spotted right away were considerably more diminished.

Akechi just sighed.

JB was right. People just never listened.

Especially these damn metas. Disregarding the fact that Akechi was something of a meta himself, although he didn't really consider himself one.

As for Bryant's upbeat confidence? Akechi cracked a grim smile. He was being paid more then generously of course.

Although he'd liked to live to spend the money, ya'know?

"By the way, Bryant?" he asked casually.

"You know some of us may ask for more hazard pay later" he added and went for whatever cover he could find.

"Get down people"

Lots of boom.

"... damn, my head hurts" he found himself thinkin' moments later.
