nuetral as well.
jaistlin, that is probably why i wouldn't play in your games. lol. i love psionics, i like the power point system rather then the spells per day system. i like being able to choose between which powers to use at any time.

That's why I love spells per day, you have to actually plan in advance what you're going to use, it adds alot more strategy into the game, like am I going to need to blow up some enemies or fly up to a high place But I'm a huge strategist, so I guess I feel that psionics take away form the game.

i like it cause you still have to decide how much PP you spend and when you think you need to use it.

I agree with Calimdoras the Massacre sorry Jaistlin I believe that planning on what you cast sucks because you never know what you may need and that can endanger the party. personally I wish that the wizards were more like the mages from final fantasy. no planning involved and you have access to to all your spells when you need them.

I go with a little bit of both ways. Personally, I don't like having to prepare a list of spells every single day from a spellbook, like a wizards does, but I find that I can bear using Cleric and Druid spell lists because tbey have automatic access to everything on their spell list.
Personally, my favorite class is the sorcerer, because if you build a sorcerer correctly, he can be almost as utilitarian as a wizard, but with more spells per day (plus access to all those draconic and dragon-related feats and spells biggrin )
I find psionics to be an acceptable and (now) balanced alternative to a typical spell user. In fact, in Unearthed Arcana Wizards of the Coast introduced a "Spell Points" system that works exactly as power points do for psionic charecters.

Sure it's easy being prepared but where's the fun if you always have something for every situation? Where's the fun in never being endangered? I'm just adamant in my opinion though, as I saw older psionics and they were ridiculous. But I can see why people like them, they're all around really good characters.

they are kinda still ridiculous, not as much as they used to though, i mean, i played a thri kreen psy warr in 3.0, and i used the acid thing for 3 PP that gave a +4d6 to all my natural atks, which there was 5(4 claws and a bite) and slautered everything basically. but now its better cause you only get one touch attack that doesnt deal the base damage for 4d6. so now its better at least.

can i choose not to be gestalt? i dont like all the multiclass stuff, i just want one straight forward class, i promise i wont be underpowered for you campaign because of it, i just like having the one class and not messing everything up with my character design and such. im just not so big on the whole multiclassing area, it messes me up, a lot.

Ya, some of the old psionics stuff was pretty rediculous; i'm personally afraid of the day when someone re-invents the psionic combat system (edit: or the metaconcert power...unlimited power points per day is definately not balanced). However, some of it was also drastically underpowered, because almost all of the 3.0 direct damae spells (like whitefire or concussion) do a set number of damage that doesn't grow with your level (5d4 or 11d6 or etc.)
Then again, it only takes a quick trip to the wizards.com charecter customization threads to prove that there are still much worse problems. For example, with a level 6 dragonfire adept (and access to the epic-level handbook) you can continually transform yourself into a humanoid race with a racial sneak attack of +13d6 eek
Personally, i'd say no one set build (save pun-pun) could be powerful enough to be without endangerment. Anyone who's ever been to RPGA Mark of Heros of Xen'drik Expeditions games can verify this; some of those missions are just plain brutal, hero-killing machines.
And to finally wrap up this overly-long, rambling post of mine: Calimdoras, are sure you don't want to take him up on that multi-classing? If nothing else, you could take a class like barbarian or monk for movespeed, or just rogue for a couple extra skill points, nothing too fancy to it.
