Keeta's Little Girl (Guild PRP)

Parties involved in order of first appearance: keetabirdy, and Kawaii_Hime_Ceres.

----

Keeta rushed around tidying the house. Not that it was filthy, but the subconcious part of her brain was wanting this to go as smoothly as possible. This somehow, in her thinking, included the removal of anything that might tip Rhine off to Camille's presence before she was ready to introduce him to the little girl.

A great deal of this was for Camille's sake as much as Rhine's. The little girl had proven to be quite introverted and while it was clear that she could speak, and speak rather well, she chose to remain silent for the most part, just watching. If something frightened her or made her nervous, she would even hide behind Keeta, whom she had already begun to see as her parental figure and guardian. Keeta wasn't too sure how she felt about this, as the idea of being a parent of two made her nervous and she hadn't had the chance to go back to the shop yet and discuss her options with the owner. Not that she just wanted to rid the house of Camille, she just didn't want to let the little girl down if she wasn't ready for the resposibility. Camille deserved better.

And with a sigh, Keeta remembered one more thing. She had also promised Ceres that she would look after Natalia when she was gone. That made Keeta the potential mother of three...and it was a frightening prospect.

Keeta glanced into the livingroom, where Camille and Joel were watching a Blue's Clues cartoon on the television. Keeta didn't quite understand the appeal, but the children seemed to enjoy it, so she didn't mind. Joel was adjusting surprisingly well to having Camille around all the time. No he didn't get along with her to where he wanted to share his things, or play with her, but he was starting to tolerate Keeta giving Camille equal amount of attention.

Frowning, she pulled herself away and continued to clean, glancing at the clock...soon she would put them down for a nap (Camille was currently sleeping in the middle of Keeta's bed at bedtime), and wait for Rhine to arrive.

Rhine's hair was still dripping wet at the ends from his quick shower. The heat of the summer made him feel as if he didn't belong in his own skin because it tightened around him as all the moisture was sucked out of him. He had long ago gotten over the complaints he had about his body...

He couldn't place the reason but he felt unnerved as he reached up to knock on Keeta's door... He was trying to be 'formal' and not arrive in her bathroom for once. He tightened his grip on the rolled up plans for the new cafe that had just finished completion- soon they would be moving into the three story building. He was worried that the love of his life wouldn't like how it had turned out though he had tried his best to make sure both couples had their needed privacy by adding another floor all together to the business/home.

"Brother," Natalia said curiously as she felt her brothers tension that she didn't understand... Despite how much she was around all her siblings she felt that she might not ever figure any of them off. She gave her brothers hand a good squeeze as she waited just as impatiently as him for Keeta to open the door... She enjoyed her visits with the lady that was both her aunt and her sister.

Keeta had finally finished cleaning and seemed satisfied at her inspection of the house. For all intents and purposes it looked normal, but clean. As soon as she had finished, she had taken Joel and Camille to their respective rooms for their naps. She had taken Camille first, because she never fought against anything reasonable, and it was of more importance that she disappear first. Joel, however, was another story. Despite the fact that he was cranky and clearly tired, he wasn't going to go down without a fight. She finally just decided to leave him and let himself just cry himself to sleep, if she stayed it would just make it worse.

She had only just left the room when there was a knock on the door. She blinked, confused, wondering if someone else had decided to drop by, because it wasn't Rhine's normal way to come in the front door. The surprise was evident on her face as she opened the door, and Joel's cries could easily be heard through the opening. After the initial groan of frustration at Joel, she stepped forward, wrapping her arms around Rhine and giving him a quick kiss, trying to make herself act normal.

"Didn't expect you to come in this way....Sorry about the noise. I just put Joel down for a nap and he's none too happy about it." She looked down at Natalia, not wanting to ignore the girl, and lightly patted her head.

"Hi there hon. Decided to come with your big brother today?"

"Thought we'd be different and show up on your doorstep." He grinned and wrapped his arms around her. Being this close he could pick up the tenseness in her body and how the hug felt almost practiced- necessary. What he didn't know is if it was because he had startled her by knocking on the front door or if it was something else.

"You should know by now that the last thing that bothers me is noise." He caressed her cheek and smiled. "After all he is our son." He knew it wasn't by blood but it was by choice. Joel and Keeta was a package deal and he was more than happy to have them both in his life... And, he couldn't wait to know more about the little boy. Soon they would truly be a family living under one roof.

"Yes!" Natalia clapped her hands in delight. "Brother told me you are going to dress up in pretty dress and say I do..." She grinned. "I just hope it means you'll ride horses with me and have tea parties every now and then and that I get to play with Joel more." She put her hands on her tiny hips and stood there 'puffed up'.

Keeta chuckled at the little girl's enthusiasm. Well she certainly planned on doing all those kinds of things with Natalia. She not only wanted to build a good relationship with the girl, but it was practically her job, what with Ceres...no...she wouldn't think about that now. There were too many other things at the moment.

"Well that's the plan," she said kneeling down to Natalia's level. "We still need to buy the pretty dress and make lots of plans first though, so you might have to wait a little while. I think I can fit in some visits with Joel and tea parties and horses in the mean time though." And I'll even have another friend to play with... Keeta added in her head.

"Well I don't want to keep you two on the porch all day. Come in!" she said stepping inside and making way for them.

"Can I get you guys anything? Water? Juice? A snack?"

Natalia clapped in delight in the fact that Keeta would be doing all those things and more with her. She was over joyed to have her joining the family. Having been here enough times previous she had memorized enough of the home to navigate without to much assistance.

Rhine grinned as he stepped inside. "Perhaps I should arrive via the mirror in the bathroom more often so you won't have us on the front porch all day." He was merely playing and his demeanor showed this. He kissed her again on the cheek.

"How about you lend me your kitchen and I'll fix us lunch..." Even though he did it for a living he loved to cook... It had after all started out as a hobby which rolled into a passion and went from there.

"I suppose that works..." Keeta said, the thought of Rhine cooking in her kitchen never having occured to her.

"Everything you need should be in the cupboards. If you tell me what you're planning I can help you fidn your way around." She glanced at the papers he held.

"So what's this you've brought with you?" She knew she was stalling by providing conversation, but part of her was hoping a good moment for introducing Camille would present itself.

Rhine looked down at the rolled up parchment and then back at Keeta. He ran his hands through his hair- almost nervously as reaction to her question. "These... Well..." He laughed dryly. "They are the lay out for the cafe and living quarters... Nothing that cannot be looked at over lunch." He smiled as he headed to the kitchen. He really didn't want to get into it before they were sitting down because if changes needed to be made he wanted to have the ability to take notes.

"Not exactly sure what I'll fix..." He said with a grin as he disappeared into the kitchen. He was one of those that could mix a little this, little that and create a dish on the fly with little to nothing at all and it actually be considered a good meal.

"Ok....well if you want to know where something in particular is let me know. I'm sorry to say my kitchen is not as well stocked as yours. I hope it has everything you need." Keeta was very curious about the parchment, but resisted the impulse to roll it open and look at it while he was cooking.

The clanging of cabinets and pots was heard but for a short moment before it was fairly silent. He opened the refrigerator several times over and at points you could almost swear he wasn't even in the kitchen at all for how silent he was.

"Come and get it," he called out as he pulled out a casserole dish from the oven. The dish contained nice sized pieces of chicken that had simmered in tomato soup, rice, and green beans.

As Rhine had been preparing the food, Keeta set the table in the kitchen with plates, glasses and all the necessary utensils. She was ready by the time he announced that the meal was finished cooking.

"That was fast! And it smells wonderful!" she remarked as she headed to the fridge to get out beverages.

"What would you like to drink Rhine? Natalia?" As she waited for their responses she unconsciously glanced toward the clock. She probably had another 30-45 minutes before all hell broke loose and both the toddlers woke up. Keeta knew she needed to find a way to broach the subject before then.

"Anything natural- fresh squeezed is preferred" Natalia replied. "Mother doesn't allow pop... or some of them other drinks that you find in other realms." Her tone revealed her rolling eyes.

Rhine chuckled and said nothing about when you get older. He ruffled his sisters hair and helped her to the table. He held her hand and showed her the empty plate and silverware.

Keeta chuckled at Natalia's grown-up response before bringing two pitchers to the table. One with apple juice and one with water. She seated herself as well and started to seve herself a portion of the casserole and then served the others.

She watched as they began to eat and she waited until Rhine had just put a mouthful of casserole in his mouth before speaking. She didn't want to be interrupted and her 'confession' came tumbling out.

"Umm....Rhine. I have something to tell you...this past week I acquired a daughter. Her name is Camille and she came out of the Monet painting I bought."

Rhine continued to chew the already well chewed bite of food. He wasn't furious not in the least but he figured it was best to not say anything just yet. Finally he swallowed- silently enough before pouring himself some water and taking a swallow.

He grinned his goofy little smirk. "I believe my mother's saying applies to this situation," he finally said after a short period of time- which could have easy seemed longer than it was. "There is always room for one more. I just don't have the means to will a room into place so I'll have to hire the crew again to add a wall... Granted both rooms won't be as big as the one but they will still be more than big enough."

He ran his fingers through his hair and scratched behind his ear. "Though, in the future... As much as I like having more and more kids we might want to plan a bit better so I don't have to make accommodations on the fly," he said with a chuckle.

Keeta watched him nervously, waiting for his reaction. It seemed to take forever before that smile appeared. She listened quietly as he spoke, trying to make herself believe he was sincere about being ok with the situation (apart from the inconvenience of having to add another wall).

"You mean that? It's ok? And I know I would like to plan better too. I kind of freaked out when she showed up in my closet, but she's really sweet....And you don't have to build another wall, they're already sharing a room...." All this was said in a rush, an expression of her relief and gratitude.

Rhine couldn't help himself but to laugh when she mentioned the little girl showing up in the closet... It reminded him of a time when he ended up in a friends cabinet that had a mirror.

"Yes, I'm serious," he said as he tried his best to catch his breath. "They both need their own room... You don't expect the boy to have pink walls and flowers... And her to have blue walls and race cars... or a combination... do you?" He grinned. "Especially later on... I think he might be terrified of just how girly girls can be later on and vise versa."

"Well....I'm sure I could find something that would work, but if you insist. I just don't want to make things more difficult for you. You're already moving partly due to me..." Keeta frowned feeling like she was putting a lot on her fiancee. Just then Keeta heard a sleepy sounding grunt from behind her.

Camille was wandering from down the short hallway rubbing her eyes, her plant-like hair disheveled. Noticing the other people with Keeta at the table, she stopped where she was, not certain she wanted to come further.

"Camille, come here, it's ok. I want you to meet some special people. And I also want them to meet you." Keeta reached out to the girl encouragingly.

Rhine reached out and touched Keeta's face gently as he smiled. "Really it was time for an upgrade. When it was just me, my sister, and well..." He didn't say his wife because he didn't like to dwell on that. "It wasn't so terribly cramped. But when it came to her and her girl friend, me and you and our family... Well, let's face facts," he said with a chuckle, "it just wasn't going to work with us living all on one floor. So between that and the cafe needing more space... It was more than time for an upgrade."

Rhine's attention moved from Keeta to the little girl. His smile became warmer as if he was almost glowing. He carefully moved from the chair and knelt down in front of her. "Hello there pretty lady. My name's Rhine."

Between being half-asleep, and her overwhelming shyness, Camille took a step back to hide behind Keeta and watch this new man from a safe distance. It wasn't that Rhine was scary or moved too quickly, he was simply unfamiliar and thus she wasn't ready to be close him yet. Besides, he was really the only person she had met besides Keeta and Joel.

She silently looked past him and noticed a second new person. This person was smaller, so perhaps not as threateningand hadn't tried to put attention on her yet. Camille watched and waited seeing what might happen.

"She's very shy it seems," Keeta said as a bit an apology, putting a gentle hand on the toddler's head.

"She took to Joel and me rather easily, but maybe that's because she instincitvely knew I was her mommy, as kind of an imprinting...." She frowned not really happy with her explanation. It didn't seem right to put it in such "animalistic" terms, but she didn't know how else to explain it.

Natalia's curiosity was piqued when there was talk of another person in the room- and she heard this person as well... however, silent she was. She sat impatiently in her chair waiting for someone to show her this new person.

"Doesn't bother me a bit," Rhine said as he took a seat on the floor- dinner abandoned for the moment. "It takes time," he said patiently even if his sister was showing impatience. He wasn't about to introduce her yet to the newest member when she wasn't even ready yet to come from behind Keeta.

Natalia sighed and rolled her eyes in reaction. She muttered something that sound something like 'figures' before shoveling in a mouthful of chicken.

Camille didn't move, although the man didn't seem as unapproachable when he was more-or-less her level by sitting on the floor.

"You don't need to sit on the floor Rhine," Keeta said, her tone halfway between scolding and amusement.

"I'm sure she'll come out when she's ready..." She paused for a moment, pursing her lips thoughtfully.

"She seems to have taken on characteristics of the painting in her appearance. I wonder if it's my fault that's she's shy like this. You know, for leaving her in the closet alone for so long, when she was a painting. If I had known there was a girl inside of course I wouldn't have left the painting seculded in the dark...." The pursed lips turned into a frown the more she considered the matter.

"Keeta... Love... When not at the cafe I live on the floor," Rhine said with that ever lasting chuckle of his. "Mater of fact I know what it's like to be at a toddlers height for a good period of time. I spent most of my rearing years laying around and looking up at the world."

"Better in the closet than in a box..." Rhine said as he looked away from the little girl and towards Keeta. "Speaking of boxes... You do plan on moving in soon don't you?"

Natalia at the moment crossed her arms- she looked as if she was containing a considerable amount of anger.

"Errr..." Keeta said, not quite ready to answer his question. Truth be told, she rather privately hoped that they would wait to move in together after they were married. She wondered if the living together so soon had contributed to her and Kael's problems and she didn't want to mess it up with Rhine.

"I thought it wasn't ready yet? That things were still being built. Isn't that why you brought that with you?" she asked, glancing at the rolled up parchment her had brought in with him. Caught up in her discussion with Rhine, she didn't notice Natalia's growing frustration.

Camille noticed, however, and shrunk back further from the hostility emminating from the older girl.

"Well... It was done," Rhine said all his laughter coming to a halt. "But, now we'll need that extra wall." He glanced at the rolled up plans. "I always keep a spare of the blue prints for the just in case purposes of me needing to contract someone..."

Rhine couldn't help it. That was just the type person he was... The go get er. Once he knew what he wanted it was only a matter of time... He didn't really like to linger on things.

Natalia, no longer able to control herself, let out a whicker of frustration- in that moment she sounded almost like her father. But in the next moment she was very much like her mother as her hands found the material of what she wore and she began to straighten it out... As if also ironing out her anger as well.

"Oh...I didn't realize things had been completed. How long do you think it will take them to put in the extra wall? And..." Keeta was about to add something to her statement when Natalia's whicker cut her off. She blinked and looked up at the girl startled.

"Natalia?" she asked, not certain what was bothering the girl.

"Once I contract them about a week- two at the most..." Rhine didn't have time to say much else as the rooms attention had fallen on Natalia.

Natalia could sense that everyone had become focused on her. She really had tried to control herself. "You really are self centered brother," she said with a equine like snort. "Really, really you are." She was past the point of trying to control herself... She looked Rhine dead on which was an indicator she had control of herself and her will power... And at that moment she could see EVERYTHING in clarity.

"Natalia...wha-?" Keeta sputtered. She had never seen the girl act like this, and if Keeta knew anything about Natalia's mother, she knew Ceres would not have raised her to speak to her brother like that.

"Natalia, you shouldn't speak to your brother like that," Keeta said, scolding her somewhat. She was her godmother after all. She frowned at the girl and crossed her arms.

"And if something is bothering you, you need to tell us exactly what it is, instead of making us guess and then calling people names." Keeta hoped she wasn't stepping over some kind of boundry line by trying to parent Natalia, but she wouldn't stand for the girl speaking like that in her home.

Camille whimpered slightly at the increased tension in the room and crawled under Keeta's chair. With her shiness, she seemed to pick up on emotions of others more readily and the hostility in the room scared her.

"He knows good and well what he has done even if he did it unintentionally," Natalia said with a huff as she looked away from Rhine. Just looking at him made her that much more angrier.

"Now, now Natalia I didn't go and spoil what you wanted..." he said trying to appease her. She wasn't a 'brat' often but she had her moments. At this point in time he really just needed to focus on getting her calmed down before she exhausted herself to the point of passing out.

Natalia rolled her eyes before settling her gaze on Camille who had come to hide under the chair. "One would think I was the island reincarnated." She snorted. This side of her was more of an influence her sisters had on her... There personalities having accidentally rubbed off on her.

"Well I don't know what the problem is," Keeta said, her tone becoming angry in reaction.

"So please don't make the rest of us wonder what is going on!"

Camille whimpered again when her mother's voice got louder. Keeta realizing what was happening, calmed herself and got down, pulling Camille gently out from under the chair and into her arms. She clung to Keeta, peeking an eye over at Natalia.

"That's not funny Natalia," Keeta said evenly at the girl's last comment.

"She frightens easily and your tempertantrum isn't helping things." Her voice grew quiet and a little sad.

"I had rather hoped you two would become friends...."

Natalia's head 'flickered in a very equine fashion... "I haven't even begun," she said shortly but before anything else could be said Rhine was up off the floor with his hand over her mouth.

"Hush," he growled commandingly low in his throat. "Before you hurt yourself... Don't let it control you." He moved his hand and ran his fingers through her hair.

It took everything in her to get a hold of herself. Sometimes one thing just lead to another and then another. "I'm sorry," she said as she looked away and closed her eyes.

Keeta remained on the floor, visibly confused by what had just transpired. She was rubbing Camille's back trying to calm her, although the girl seemed to relax somewhat as soon as Natalia seemd to calm down. Her hands still held tight to keeta, however, as though she feared a repeat of the past few moments.

"What just happened....?" Keeta asked, her tone thick with uncertainty.

Rhine bit his lip hard enough that it bled. These were things that were generally not spoke of around Natalia- but at the same time Keeta deserved to know. Heck he was rather surprised she hadn't been told sooner by their mother Ceres.

After a moment he let out a sigh. He'd try his best. "It has to do a lot with what is in her blood, body, spirit, soul... you know all that." He said trying to keep it vague. "The island has always made sure that a good bulk of himself remains in the maidens offspring... She's no different. Unfortunately, that means that they act a lot like him until they can control themselves... Maidens have to shape themselves... They just don't wake up one day and say okay it's my turn to take over the island... It takes a lot of time, skill, and patience. She could actually end up turning e-v-i-l..." He actually spelled evil instead of saying it. "It is just all up to her and her level of control..."

"Seriously, brother... I didn't fall off the cherry tree yesterday. I've got ears you know and occasionally a set of working eyes. I really wish you all would let me grow up." She snorted. She couldn't help it. She was sick of being treated like a child. And, now that mother wasn't around she could express this. "Besides, I'm sure Camillie doesn't want to hear any of this... And, that is what this moment is about..."

"Oh...." It was a lame excuse for a response to all that, but it was all Keeta could manage for the moment. Natalia turn evil? The thought was almost to much to process when she thought of Ceres. Keeta didn't know if she was ready to parent an additional normal child, let alone an additional evil one. She hoped the fear that had materialized didn't show in her face or her eyes. Just in case, she looked down and kissed Camille on the head, smoothing her green hair, so she wouldn't have to look at them.

"Camille probably doesn't understand half of our discussion, so I wouldn't worry about what you say so much as what you do. I figure she's somewhere around four. When I get a chance I plan to take her to the clinic to get a basic check-up and see if they can't tell me where she is developmentally."

"She would make an adorable flower girl at your wedding," Natalia said with a grin. Her absent stare was an indicator that she could no longer see the world around her. "Speaking of which... That brings up my birthday. I want to ask you something Keeta..."

Rhine rolled his eyes knowing exactly what was coming... He didn't really like it one bit but what could he do- Natalia was his sister after all and didn't really have a say when it came to her requests.

"Perhaps," Keeta said, smiling a little at the thought of Camille preceeding her down the aisle in a cute little dress. Although...that might be overwhelming for the introverted little girl. Her mind started traveling along the line of the wedding and she almost didn't hear Natalia's last statement.

"Ask me something?" she said absentmindedly, completely missing Rhine's reaction.

"Marry my brother for my birthday," Natalia said with a wide grin. "I know it has already passed, but that's what I want as a birthday present." She played with the ends of her hair much the same way her mother did.

Rhine covered his face clearly too embarrassed to respond. It didn't matter if he already knew what was coming... It was just still to much. Maybe it was because he hadn't even set a date before his sister asking.

Keeta's head snapped up in surprise and she looked at Rhine, her face slightly pale. Get married right now? But what about inviting their friends and family and such?

"Natalia..." Keeta started gently, not wanting to rile her up again.

"I'm not sure that your brother and I are ready just yet..." were they?

"It isn't like I meant right now... But I meant shortly. Mother can take care of it... All you need to do is give her the guest list." She smiled innocently enough as if this wasn't just her doing.

"Kids ask some of the darnedest things..." Rhine said barely above a whisper.

"Rhine...." Keeta said suspiciously, but she wasn't really upset.

"Did you put Natalia up to this?"

"Seriously I didn't," Rhine said still unable to look at either Keeta or Natalia with a straight face. He really couldn't believe his sister had actually gone through with her plans of asking Keeta.

"Would you rather I ask for a bike?" Natalia questioned with a folding of her arms. "It isn't like I could ride it... And, there really isn't anything else I want... What I want, what I need is all provided for me with little to no effort."

Keeta didn't want to let the little girl down (or bring on her wrath!) but this wasn't something she could just give an easy answer to.

"I don't know Natalia. I'll have to think about it..." Not to mention that she needed to think about Joel's birthday as well. She could kick herself for not having celebrated it when it came around.

"How would you like it if I hosted a birthday party for you and Joel together? You could invite any of your friends..." Keeta trailed off hoping this idea would appeal to Natalia.

"I have no friends," Natalia said dropping the strands of hair that she had been playing with. "Unless you count you, Joel, and my siblings..." she sighed softly and began to fidget. "But I suppose a party would be fun non the less..." she said this even if she wasn't sure just what she could do. It was moments like this (when she realized how her sightless state effected her) that it hurt her the most...

Rhine came out of his embarrassed state with a sigh. He couldn't help this aspect of Keeta's life... There was only so much he and his siblings could do in helping their mother and father to raise Natalia...

"Well I can invite some of the other kids that live around here and maybe you can make some new friends?" Keeta suggested. Maybe she would even hang an invitation in the clinic for any of the children there to come. Noting Natalia's expression, she set Camille down and came over to the older girl. She placed a soft hand on one of Natalia's.

"I promise I'll make it fun for you."

"It does sound a little fun... At least there would be other kids there..." Natalia smiled softly and instinctively put her other hand on top of Keeta's. "What do you do on birthday parties?" Having never had one she didn't know what to expect...

Rhine was thankful for Keeta's motherly instincts...

It felt a little strange, having to tell Natalia the substance of a birthday party, but then she remembered that the little girl was part equine and thus matured more rapidly than some other children. She offered Rhine a smile before giving her attention back to Natalia.

"Well...at a birthday party, you invite other people over and you play games, laugh, sing songs, have cake a ice cream, open presents....You can even choose a theme for a birthday party, like a favorite show, or book. So what kinds of things would you like at your birthday party? We'll celebrate Joel too, but he's not really old enough to make a lot of those choices, so I'll let you help me with a lot of the planning."

Natalia snorted when her mind raced over the various things at a part. She couldn't ever recall her mother doing anything like that for her or for any of her siblings... Or for her father or herself for that mater. She half wondered if there was a reason.

She sat there for a good moment as she tried to think of things that she liked. "We have a TV but it is so fuzzy no one ever turns it on. They all tease mother about it because it has a huge pair of rabbit ears..." She sighed softly. "I've never actually looked at a book, but they do read to me... It is mostly fairy tails. Do you have a book you like Keeta?" This whole picking a theme was becoming tougher than she thought. She was about to get depressed again when Rhine spoke up.

"Music... Natalia you love your violin. We could make a party that involves a lot of noise..." As soon as he said it he knew he would regret it later.

Keeta cringed at Rhine's suggestion, grateful that Natalia couldn't see her. A lot of noise...She wasn't sure about that....but music? Music she could do.

"We could do a music themed party, absolutely," she said, glancing at Rhine again. "Joel just happens to really like music too, so that would work nicely if it's what you want."

Natalia clapped in delight- every bell on her jingled. "Yes, yes!" Suddenly she was excited again about the thought of having a party. "I love music! A birthday party with that theme would be awesome." She giggled.

Rhine caught Keeta's look. He grinned sheepishly. He was going to have to invest in some ear plugs... and some massage oil (for the after its over) to say thank you.

"Well sounds like we have some planning to do then," trying to maintain the level of enthusiasm. She was about to ask another question, when Joel could be heard crying from the other room. He had woken from his nap. Keeta sighed and made a face.

"But maybe we can plan in the next couple of days? I can come over to your house next time."

Rhine nodded and pointed down the hall. "I got that," he grinned and hurried out of the room.

"Is she any better?" Natalia asked. She was speaking of the little girl who she had frightened earlier. She hadn't meant to let things escalate- and now felt bad that it had

Keeta smiled at Rhine as he departed. She was grateful to him for stepping up, but at the same time, she would have been glad of an excuse to get away for a minute. There was a lot going on in her head. At Natalia's question, she looked behind her to see how Camille was doing.

The small girl was standing next to the chair, one hand gripping the side of it. Her other hand was near her mouth, as if she had recently broken the habit of sucking her thumb for comfort and so her hand automatically went there. She didn't look afraid now. Just cautious. It was quiet again except for Joel's crying, which she was used to. The older girl was calm now and not as intimidating. She stepped forward as Keeta reached out a hand to her.

"Who dat mommy?" she asked quietly, watching Nataila carefully.

"This is Natalia. She is a little girl of a friend of mine, like you are my little girl. She won't hurt you." Keeta tucked a stray lock of green hair behind Camille's ear.

"Natalia can't see the same way we do. She sees with her hands and not her eyes," Keeta continued, modeling the body parts she was describing.

"She wants to touch you, so she can see you. Is that ok? Mommy will be right here with you."

Camille looked from Natalia to Keeta with indecision plain on her face. Someone she didn't know touching her? She frowned....well if Mommy was going to be there. She paused in thought before giving a single silent nod and then clinging to Keeta for reassurance that she had made the right choice.

"It should be ok now Natalia," Keeta said. "But if I see her getting upset I'm going to ask you to stop, ok?"

"I didn't get to see much of her earlier in my moment of..." Natalia fidgeted for a moment and smiled apologetically. "So, I appreciate this opportunity." She held out her hand and waited for Keeta to take it and put it on Camille. "I understand and will stop if told. I also promise to be gentle."

Keeta seated Camille in her lap to provide further reassurance. She smiled at the little girl and nodded, trying to show how pleased she was with her cooperation, before gently taking Natalia's hand and guiding it to where she could touch Camille's hair. She figured that would be a 'safe' place to start.

Natalia smiled as her fingers curled into the little girls hair. She took a moment to rub it between her thumb and index enjoying just how soft it was... However, she did take note that it was a delicate soft like a texture you would find in the garden. "Do you just use water? or do you actually wash it?" She asked out of curiosity.

"Ummm....well I've only used water so far. When I get her to the doctor eventually, I would like to see what thet say about how to take care of her properly. You noticed it's a bit like plants then?" Keeta said, the smirk on her face could be heard in her voice. She took Natalia's hand and positioned it over one of the flowers that grew in Camille's hair.

"She also has white flowers that grow..."

Camille titled her head so she was looking up. She blinked just watching Natalia silently. Well, it seemed to be ok so far....

"Putting shampoo on flowers seems rather silly..." Natalia said with a light giggle. Only using her fingertips she traced around the flower. "It is rather amazing isn't it... How things grow.."

"It does seem a little silly," Keeta agreed. "But who knows the best way to take care of plant hair? I know there has to be some grown up people here in Gaia that have been through this and can tell me their experiences."

Keeta watched Natalia, how she gently used her hands to feel and "see." Growing things weren't the only amazing things. It seemed hard to believe that this same girl had a frightening temper-tantrum only moments before.

"Yes growing things are amazing."

"Like my mom says... A little TLC can take care of anything..." Rhine said having over heard the last bits of their conversation. Joel was securely riding his hip at the moment.

Natalia looked in the direction from which her brothers voice had come.

"Yes indeed. Thanks for getting him out of the crib." Keeta smiled and waved at Joel, who was still a little cranky from having just woken up.

He frowned and grunted before burying his face in Rhine's shoulder as if to get away from the brightness of the light. It seemed his three eyes made him more sensitive to dramatic changes in the intensity of light.

Camille shrank back ever so slighty from the big man, when he entered the room again. But....he was holding Joel and Joel seemed to be ok.

Rhine used his hand to shield Joel's face from the lights when he noticed the little boy trying his best to escape them. "You know we should go to the park."

"I suppose we could do that," Keeta said, lifiting Camille from her lap and getting up off the floor.

"It'd give us a chance to talk party ideas!" She said to Natalia.

"Just let me grab the stroller...." Keeta headed down the hall and returned a moment later with the double stroller and her "mom bag."

Rhine smiled as he took a hold of Natalia's hand. He still had a firm grip on Joel. He secretly wondered what they looked like to other. Did they look like a band of merry 'men' or a family. He hoped a family because that is what he wanted.

"You can put Joel in the stroller if you want," Keeta said as she lifted Camille and placed her in the front seat. She pulled the shading piece open, so that Camille wouldn't be in the bright afternoon sun when they got outside.

"If he's content- I'm content," Rhine said with a smile. "I'm use to carrying an lifting three or four times his weight." He kissed her cheek since the kids all seemed to be watching him earlier.

"Ok..." Keeta said shrugging, and returning the kiss on the cheek. She pushed the stroller towards the door and headed outside.

"Off we go then!"

Silence is Golden (Guild PRP)

Parties involved in order of first appearance: Imbri, and Kawaii_Hime_Ceres.

----

Imbri sat on a park bench in Barton town, bouncing Nyoka on her knee. His little snake tail wrapped around her leg, helping him balance on her knee. He made garbled noises and she ruffled his hair, taking care not to hit his tiny horns on the top of his head. She cooed at him a little, but mostly sat staring at the tree in front of her. Selona was at an appointment for a routine checkup and Imbri had left the office when her son started getting funny. She figured she'd get back to the office soon, hopefully before Selona got out of the exam room and discovered she had disappeared.

"The crazy cat lady wouldn't like that very much, would she?" Imbri said to Nyoka, in a baby voice.

He replied by making a gargling noise and drooling a little on the teething toy he held.

A tingle of a near by door singled the door closing from a local cafe (that looked anything by ordinary by outside appearance). Ceres was being led by Sky since she only had his eyes. Natalia was being lead by Ceres since she couldn't see at all.

"I'm really full- could we please have a sit." Ceres sighed wishing she could rub her full stomach to prove a point. "Our son cooks 'so' good." She added with a grin.

Imbri wiggled her finger in front of her son and watched the strange procession of people come out of the shop near where she was sitting.

Nyoka grabbed her finger with his tiny hands and pulled it to his mouth and bit down with his sharp little fangs.

"Ouch!" Imbri cried out loudly, phasing her finger through his hands to pull it away.

Of course, this caused him to start wailing. "Ohhh, no, no, no, don't do that." she said, trying to bounce him up and down to calm him.

Sky first, then Ceres turned their heads to the sound of the crying child. Ceres headed towards them with a chuckle. She reached inside her bag of 'tricks'.

"Here," Ceres said with a calm almost distant voice as she held out a shiny, noisy toy she hoped would help the woman distract the child.

"Oh, no, that's really alr-" Imbri started, but Nyoka's shout of happiness drowned out her refusal of the toy.

"Ayyeeaaa!" he said, dropping his boring teething toy (which was almost useless anyway, as his sharp teeth easily punctured every new one Imbri bought and the liquid had long since drained out) He held his little hands out for the noisy toy.

Imbri sighed and tried to readjust him on her knee, only to fail, as his snake tail tightened around her leg. At least he wasn't crying now.

Ceres chuckled as she handed the child the toy. "After raising eight you learn to carry around a bit of everything and then some."

"Name's Ceres," Ceres took a moment to extend her hand after Sky focused on Imbri. "And, this is my companion, Sky..." she motioned to the blue haired male whose eyes kept flickering around though Ceres' never moved in any direction.

Natalia clapped her hands and giggled. Not a clue to who or anything other than her parents but she was excited to meet someone knew. "I'm Natalia!" She said before Ceres could introduce her.

"Our daughter," the two mumbled, but it was quickly followed by a low chuckle.

Nights spent awake keeping Selona company had made Imbri far beyond exausted, and rather than getting offended at the woman implying she knew more about raising children than Imbri did, she just ignored the comment.

She lowered her head and started to dip her shoulders in a sort of sitting curtsy, before she realized that the other woman hand stuck out her hand.

"Oh." How she hated modern sensibilities. She reached her hand forward and grasped Ceres' briefly. "My name is Imbri," she replied and indicated to the naga holding onto her leg. "And this is my son, Nyoka. It's...um, nice to meet you," she finished.

Nyoka grasped the toy awkwardly in his hand and shook it around. When Natalia spoke up, he lowered his hands and looked at her curiously. He had never seen someone close to his size before! Everyone he knew was Imbri-sized. "Dat! Dat!" he said, trying to repeat her name.

Natalia stopped her noise and her 'dance' at the mention of another child. Her interest and curiosity was spiked. "I want to see! I want to see!" She chanted as she stretched out her arms and patted the air.

"May she?" Ceres asked as she took Natalia's hands in hopes of calming her down just a tad... The last thing she needed was for the other child to get skittish from her being hyper.

Sky shook his head inconspicuously as he chuckled. His eyes still constantly scanning the area since his eyes were Ceres only eyes at the moment.

Imbri wasn't sure why Ceres was asking if the little girl could see her son, and the confusion reflected a little on her face. Wasn't he sitting right in front of her?

She set Nyoka on the ground, and a little unsteadly, he slithered over to Natalia. He was already quite big, even though he wasn't that old yet. Imbri had always wondered if it came from the naga DNA or just the fact that dna had been spliced in while she was pregnant with him that made him larger than a child should be.

"Dat-a!" he said again, getting another sylleble this time and clapping his hands together.

Ceres gave half a smile at the silence and wondered if she had not been clear enough. "Natalia is blind," she finally said. "I don't let her put her hands on others without their permission... And, that is the way she see's."

Natalia was patient enough as she waited to 'see' the boy. She clapped her hands when she heard the little boy do it. She grinned and laughed as if happiness was contagious.

"Oh, I see..." Imbri said. She nodded slightly, agreeing. She supposed that was alright. After all, after raising her other children she was pretty used to little fingers grabbing hold of her.

She wondered, though, if either's powers would mess with the others. Apparently it was just a risk she'd have to take.

Nyoka slithered over to Imbri. "Ball?" he asked. The one word he knew quite well. Imbri sighed and rolled her eyes, and pulled it out of the bag she had beside her and handed it off to her son, and streched out her arm for Natalia to 'see'.

Ceres took her daughters hand and put it in Imbri's. She figured seeing the mother first would be best. "Natalia- this is Imbri." Her voice was even but warm.

Natalia took a moment to count the ladies fingers- not that she expected to find one missing. "Your skin doesn't feel like he sounds," she said having heard the boy slither just moments ago.

Imbri was confused about what she meant for a moment, until she realized that snake skin would make a funny noise when he moved (Imbri, not having to rely on sound as much as she imagined Natalia did, never noticed how her son really sounded when he moved).

"Oh, I guess he would. He's part snake."

She could have explained. But Imbri thought it might be a little more complicated than Natalia would understand.

"My sisters part horse," Natalia said matter-of-factly as her hands wondered up to the ladies shoulders and then her face. She was slow and extremely gentle as she mapped out the person before her. "You don't feel old..." She said bluntly but she wasn't trying to intentionally sound 'harsh'... It was more an observation.

"Natalia!" Ceres exclaimed trying her best not to laugh. Kids could really say some of the darnedest things.

The Strength To Carry On (AIM PRP)

Parties involved in order of first appearance: Surion Rakamash and Kawaii_Hime_Ceres.

----

The mail Surion had sent his friend may have been odd compared to other mail, a sealed scroll that would persistently tap the shoulder of the person it was sent to no matter their location, and be invisible to all but the one it was addressed to until it was taken hold of, once opened though anyone could read it. It was short, simple, didn't need much in details, just a request for a visit and the address to his home so she could find it. It was the selfsame address she'd given him when she helped him dig into he unexplained memories several months before.

Ceres fingers tapped idly on the rolled parchment. The other hand pressed against her chest as she took a deep breath. Though she willingly and longingly prepared for aging she had never expected what came with it. She pulled out her mirror and as the seconds passed by she thought of the destination... She doubted she would be able to travel much longer. Sky having had previous plans and Natalia having a baby sitter would not be traveling with her today. She thought of taking one of her other children but decided against it since this mater seemed personal... She hoped Surion wouldn't mind her using his site... Only problem was that she couldn't actually look at him.

Surion sat on his couch gazing out one of the large windows that took up 90% of hte wall looking out into the forest, he was waiting for her, he didnt know if she'd come out in one of hte several rooms inside the house or actually be outside and knocking on the door.

Despite the fact of not having sight she did have centuries of practice and without problem arrived safely in the bathroom sitting on the sink as usual. She dangled her long legs for a moment as she felt for the floor. Standing there and feeling vulnerable she felt around for the door knob... Finally. She exhaled a breath she didn't know she had been holding.

Surion's keen hearing picked up movement and he turns his head looking towards his bathroom on the second floor, he knew none of his companions was ever in the bathroom so he could only assume. He stood and walked up the stairs to the landing before calling out "Ceres, is that you?"

"Yes," she said in a soft voice that only came with age. She stood there unmoving- her stillness would be nearly unnerving to those who didn't know her. She at the moment was not willing to move. "Just me..." She added hoping that he would offer his site and she wouldn't have to ask... It felt a bit embarsing at times to have to reply on people.

"Only you?" he says nothing more for a moment but walks along the walkway stopping at the bathroom door glancing over her shoulder and then looking at her. He remembered what she had once mentioned about not using others sight without their ok and after a moment spoke "Kinda hard for you to navigate a place you've never been before without sight... if you need to see .... by all means do it."

A smile quickly came to place on Ceres' face. She felt a hundred percent better that moment she could see around her... For that moment she got to feel how Natalia must feel when she was dragged out the door and into a world she couldn't see. "Thank you!" It took her a moment to gauge but shortly via assumption and sound she placed where Surion was and turned to face him.

His vision would reveal his home, very much open with a LOT of windows, they were on a landing that overlooked the first floor at that point. "Not a problem, come, lets go to the living room" He turned and headed back to the landing glancing back at her.

"You've got a nice place," she said as she observed what she saw of his place through his eyes. "And, if you keep looking at me like that I'll have enough time to freshen up from travel." She chuckled.

Surion bursts out laughing and heads down the stairs and into the living room dropping onto one of the comfortable couches.

Having gotten a quick glance of the living room she picked what looked to be a decent and comfortable chair. She crossed her legs at the ankles and made sure what she wore covered what it was suppose to. She couldn't remember a time she'd been so self conscious- and didn't know if it came with age or with the recent growing affections she had for Sky... Or if it was just the fact that she was alone. She knew though that no harm could come to her because Surion wouldn't allow it and also that she could get through the mirror quicker than you could snap your fingers.

"How have you been?" She finally asked after a moment of silence.

"Overall ok I suppose, I haven't talked to Nani since the day she gave me back my memories, I can only guess it means she wants to move on. It's a lil harder for me to move on, I finally got in touch with my aunt again, haven't seen her since before the accident..." he pushes his hair out of his face as it had been obscuring part of his vision.

Ceres' smile falters after a moment of feeling his tension. "Well it's good to know that you've got your memories back but I cannot help but feel that somethings bothering you... Want to talk about it?"

"Ceres, I never considered moving on in my own life from Nani, I think the one time I talked about what would happen without her in my life when I had my memories... I talked about leaving here, going to the cliffs, to my father's homeland... but thats not an option, I dont really get along with dad after the last time we'd seen each other, and both my grandparents passed away... Not to mention I run Aetermus with Aurora Dawn now too" he sighs after blurting this all out.

"You know if this isn't a life you want or you think you need a break my home is always open. We've briefly discussed your beliefs and I'm not telling you to deter from them... But let me ask this... If Nani was dead would your race require you to never love again- to never live again?" She twirled her finger idly in her hair. "More importantly would Nani want your life to cease?"

Surion was silent for a time "During the wars when Nani was missing a few females from the cliffs felt I should move on, and somehow I doubt she'd want my life to cease...." he pauses "I just don't know if my heart is ready to move on, she owns it, even if she doesn't want it."

"Not today, not even tomorrow... but eventually the time will come." She sighed softly and uncharacteristically drew out a 'blink'. "I mean it- our home is open to you. Maybe a bit of a get away where it is just you and nature would be a good thing... And, Aurora Dawn is talented enough to manage the club in your absence."

He nods, "we'll see, for now I just have to figure out if I'm ready to move on, she'd been my whole life... well the part of it I knew my life in at least" he looks to Ceres "Does that make sense?"

"Makes perfect sense," she said softly. "Remember I have a son who just recently divorced and amazingly found love. So, life's out there." She rubbed her arm idly. "It all just takes time... Like I said no one expects tomorrow."

"Did he feel he could ever move on or love someone again after the divorce, and better yet, was the divorce his decision or something he just had to go along with" he fidgets with a lock of his long hair.

"I never really pressed him for details of his divorce, but I believe it was mutual and that they just grew apart. I do know though that she is the one that up and left and with little to no warning unless of course you just looked at the signs of where things were going." She paused for a moment as her fingers found their way back to the ends of her hair that was puddled in her lap. "Rhine is well Rhine... He's a hopeless romantic so he has the ability to find love... But, I am pretty sure at one point he did feel hopeless... He just doesn't let people in on it."

Surion nods "I see, my aunt wasn't of much help in this topic, she's extremely set in her Kersallian ways, being a Wisen doesn't help in that though... Sorry to dump all this on you Ceres... I just need a friendly ear. That's all."

"I don't mind at all... You are like my son." She grinned. "And, trust me your problems are a breath of fresh air compared to what I normally deal with..." She chuckled as she thought of all her daughters. "Remember you have to do what's best for you."

"Are they really that simplistic in comparison.... they don't feel as such." He quirks a single brow at that thought, he felt they were a lot more complicated.

"With seven girls you wouldn't believe the drama," she chuckled. "Especially when each has their own direction in life. I'd say about the only thing six of them have in common is womanly troubles... Natalia's a bit to young for that." She leaned back into the cousins and looked to the ceiling even if that wasn't what she was looking at all since she was using Surion's eyes. "I hate to press but Surion just how many of your 'traditions' do you actually practice?"

"What do you mean, how many traditions?" he leans forward his elbows resting on his knees.

"Do your people not have certain practices they follow... I believe you mentioned to me once about if you had sex that was marriage... those types of things. How many do you practice?" She was again looking at him even if she wasn't.

"Oh, well choosing a mate in that manner and such is part of the dragonic side of me, it's been a long time since I practiced such, really long... To be honest the only part of a relationship dragonic or kersallian I've practiced in like two years, is staying faithful to one mate alone" he sighs.

"Then what are you holding onto?" She stood up and stretched. Lately she found herself restless and hardly stilled- it frustrated her but there wasn't much she could do but give into it. "And, don't tell me hope... or that one chance in a million that she'll come back to you."

Surion opened his mouth to reply and then shut it when she said the second part of her words, he looks at his hands, two fingers playing with the gold band around his one middle finger.

"In a way we have something in common... a fear of that unknown variable where we clutch to what exists in the now or then that was comforting." She sighed and sat back down. "She is no more likely to come back than I am to have sex..."

"Would have been easier in my life right now, to not have all my memories" he says rather quietly, still not looking up from his hands, his eyes fixated on the golden color between his fingers.

"Moving on isn't an easy thing but then again nether is scaling a mountain." She tangled her fingers around the end of her braid. "You know what... Let's assume this 'mess' is a mountain... are you going to be man enough to climb it- over come it or not?"

He stiffens for a mere second her words touching an instinctive male nerve... pride. He looks at her in silence for a long time before saying even one word "Could you... in my shoes do it?"

"I cannot answer that one because I myself am to scared to love in its entirety... It is one of the many walls my mother instilled in me to keep me alive and to break the cycle of our people." She sighed and stood up again this time pacing a bit to the right. She was counting of course in her head how many steps she had taken. "But, Rhine can tell you it is possible to move on- to love again."

Surion says nothing, he looks at his hands again, his vision somewhat blurry, he holds the ring between two fingers before slowly pulling it off

"It's never easy but it can be done." She says as she turns back around to return to her seat. She kept what she saw a silent- private moment between them... A moment that didn't need words. "I'll make you a deal."

Surion lifts his hand that was now wrapped around the golden item and uses the back of it to wipe his eyes a bit as he looked towards her "Whats... whats that" he asks.

"You promise me to make an honest effort in moving on and I'll aid you in such task. There isn't anything monetary I cannot offer." Her head tilted till it appeared that she was looking at the floor.

Surion takes a deep breath "I can try" he says after a moment of silence.

"Try is all I ask and all you can do," she says with a smile. She stretched again as she stands- never had she felt so human, so miserable. If only she had aged the natural way. She sighed softly and after a moment replied, "You'll see... In the end that you will be in a better place."

Surion nods still clutching the ring "There's no way to saying it'll be easy, I already know it wont be" he pauses "Kinda like when I was a kid... but different at the same time."

"There isn't any challenge that's a piece of cake," she chuckled. "If there were then it wouldn't be a challenge." She shifted again and stretched. "Perhaps you should put that ring up for safe keeping... Some place where you won't be tempted for a peek every chance you get."

"Yeah...." he looks at his hand again "I will, with some other things that need to be put away as well" he takes a breath, and wipes his eyes once more.

Ceres closes the distance between them and after wiping the rest of the tears from his face hugs him like she would one of her children.

Surion gives her a weak smile and returns her hug "Thanks Ceres, I'm glad I have someone I can talk to who knows something about whats happening here".

"I told you I would be here for you anytime..." she says as she gives him one of those motherly smiles. She traces along her arm until she comes across one of her upper arm bands. It takes her only a couple of seconds to remove it. "Here," she says as she holds it out for him to take. "Use this as a reminder of what you've promised... and what is to be gained by that promise."

Surion looks at what she held out then reached out with his empty hand and takes it with a nod.

"It isn't anything like normal jewelry," she says more as an after thought. "Once on your arm the open ends will come together and the band itself will adjust to the size of your arm." She grinned.

Surion nods listening to the words his friend spoke before slipping it over his right hand and onto his upper arm marveling silently about it's change "Ceres I have a question for you" he speaks up after a moment.

"Yes," she says as she heads back to the chair to sit down again. Having already memorized the chair from previous 'ups and downs' it only takes her a moment to get comfortable.

"Would you consider accepting if I asked you to be like a second family for me, I don't really have family in Gaia anymore 'cept my aunt, I haven't seen my sisters or brother or anyone else in a long time" He looks towards her letting his hands rest in his lap.

"I already consider you a son," she smiles. "That in itself should tell you that I consider you family... And, if I consider it then so does Sky and our eight children." She sighs softly but contently. "And, I really wish you wouldn't look at me... It doesn't do this old woman any good." She chuckled.

Surion laughs and shakes his head "You aren't that old" he looks at the clock "Damn almost time to go into the office".

"I am 450 years old... That makes me an old hen and you the spring chicken." She chuckles as she nods her head. "Have a good evening," she says as she pulls out her mirror. "Oh, before I go," she said with a laugh as she pulled out a container of sandwich meat. "Almost forgot..."

Surion quirks a bro and takes the container opening it and for the first time since she arrived cracked a genuine smile and cracked up laughing

"Wouldn't want them to think that I forget." She chuckled. "And, now I'll take my leave." And with she was gone."

Surion smiles and sets down the container for the anxious dragonettes and heads to get ready for work

Something For You (AIM PRP)

Parties involved in order of first appearance: Kawaii_Hime_Ceres and Surion Rakamash.

----

It was well before the club doors would be opening for the nightly crowd that Tinker appeared in her sisters 'housing unit'. She hadn't come in a way normal to any other but her family and those close to the family. She wasn't here to see her sister although she'd make it a point to... She was here to give Surion something. She wondered out into the hall to find the elevator. She was smart and had memorized her mothers directions quickly.

Surion was standing behind the bar with the fin-eared barkeep Silvia, immersed in a conversation about stock and possible new types of drinks that could be ordered. The bar didnt have the same visual effect as it did when the nightclub was open as the lighting was just the day-lights and not the black lights.

Tinker cleared her throat as she sat down on one of the bar stools. She wasn't going to shout hey you or something else to get attention because she didn't want to come off as rude. She could wait if she had to so long as she eventually got to speak to Surion. While she waited she continued to take the place in while it was fully lit... She still didn't think she could ever come here when it was busting at the seems with people and the music was going full force.

Surion's pointy ears caught the clearing of the throat and looks over, the light of the overhead lighting catching the ring on his lower lip. He motions a one sec and then turns back to Sylvia. He speaks with her for a couple more minutes and then she took her clipboard heading for the store-room to prepare her order. Surion turns his attention back to Tinker and wanders over "Hi" he wasn't sure he recognized her "What can I do for ya."

Tinker gave a wicker that held slight disappointment. However, she didn't expect more from him since after all she herself had only caught glimpses of him when he came to visit their island home. "This is for you," she said as she sat the package containing his mirror on the counter.

Surion's brow visibly lifted a bit as he took the package she was passing him "For me?" he looks at her then the package starting to open it up.

"Would I give it to you if it wasn't for you?" Tinker snorted as she rolled her eyes. She was beginning to wonder what her mother saw in this boy that she would 'claim' him as family.

"Well I suppose that's true now isn't it" he lifts a hand pushing his long bangs out of his face, both blue eyes now visible as he returned to pulling the package apart, he'd missed the sarcasm in the words.

Inside the package was the mirror that Ceres had promised him at their last meeting. "It's really simple," Tinker said as she folder her arms and propped herself up on the bar. She wasn't intentionally flaunting a nearly naked chest. "You just picture the mirror in the place you wish you go and you go..."

Surion drops the wrapping into a nearby trash while turning the mirror over in his other hand looking it over "Do you have to know what the place looks like..." he questions, looking up from the mirror towards her quickly diverting his eyes upward away from her chest.

"It helps," Tinker said with a chuckle. "When you haven't got that much of clue you take a chance of ending up in an awkward position... Like for instance... You know want to go to my bathroom but you don't know what it looks like... Which in turn means you don't know what the mirror looks like. Your more than likely to end up tumbling into the tub rather than standing pretty like in the center of the bathroom."

Surion chuckles "Guess I better hope if I ever try and go to a bathroom I dunno what looks like.... the tub better be empty" he grins.

Tinker chuckled and sat up to take a moment to stretch. "We've all ended up in one situation or another that could be described as scandalous or crazy... Especially when we show up announced."

Surion laughs "I heard your mom took a bit of a tumble coming out a mirror in Faerun when my mother called upon her" he sets the mirror down and leans on the counter.

"Until you get the hang of it expect to take more than a few tumbles," Tinker looked at Surion for a moment before spinning around in her chair. "By the way Ceres expects you at the house tomorrow at noon sharp," she said matter of factly as she slid off of the bar stool.

"Noon tomorrow?" he tips his head slightly his long bangs falling back into his face as he questioned her.

"Yes," she said as she looked over her shoulder. "Although she said sharp if you are a minute or two late I don't think she'll get all that fussy... She is on the slow side these days."

"Sounds good then, hopefully I'll get this thing right on the first try" he smirks slightly and picks the mirror up looking at it again, and even then wondering why on earth Ceres would be looking for him to show up at her home... he guessed he'd find out soon enough though.

"Farewell until next time," Tinker said as she headed back across the dance floor to the elevator. She was more than happy that this meeting had not taken all that long and that the place was still more than empty as she was making her exit.

"Likewise" Surion nods and waves as she leaves before turning and heading upstairs to his office, mirror in hand.

Surion's Birthday Surprise (AIM PRP)

Parties involved in order of first appearance: Surion Rakamash and Kawaii_Hime_Ceres.

----

Surion's alarm sounded the morning after the delivery of the mirror to the club, he stretched and rolled from his bed. He showered and used said shower to wake up, for it was nearly 10:30 by the time he had gotten up, oh the joys of running the club. By five minutes to noon he was ready, and gathering up Kuyl and Senti and the mirror, the only real place he could recall of her home at that moment was that squishy front entry.... which he did his best to picture considering it had been jam packed full of people last time he was there.

Ceres was busy drying her hands off on the kitchens dish towel when she looked up. Even if she was slowing down and was not as 'strong' as she use to be she never missed a beat about her island... Especially when it came to her home. With the lift of her head there was only the briefest of scrambling bodies. She smiled and headed down the hall to the very last room. Stepping out of the way of the opening she opened the door.

Surion had managed the location he wanted........ sorta, but when the door opened they wouldn't see him... till they looked down, he could master plane shifting he had been sure he could do this too...... apparently not as easy as it had been let on, for he was tumbled on the floor, both dragonettes atop of his head.

Ceres smiled and clapped her hands together in delight once she caught site of Surion. "Bravo!" She chuckled and extended her hand. "Up we go..."

"Okay that wasn't what I intended" Surion says looking up at Ceres and then taking her hand as the dragonettes took the liberty of hopping off of his head and scampering past Ceres, seems they had decided to explore.

Ceres cleared her throat and smiled most pleasantly. "It happens to even the best of us." She took a moment to brush Surion off and then motioned him down the hall. "Come, come..."

The male ran his fingers through his long bangs as Ceres fussed with the rest of his appearance. "To you as well?" he inquires as he follows her motioning hand.

"Yes, even me," she said with a laugh. "Remember I wasn't always as old as this... I had to learn as well." She sighed softly. "My first time through a mirror was actually accidental... So you can imagine my landing. And, that was during the time I had not yet learned to harness my willpower to give me site and run the island."

"Oh dear, sounds like quite an adventure, I didn't think I would have a problem with it since i plane shift all the time... But anyways, I was told you wanted me to come visit around noon, so here I am" he nods.

"Yes, here you are..." she said as she came to a stop at the end of the hall. "Right through here," she motioned him to the kitchen/dining area.

The entire house even this room appeared to be empty which was a rarity. There was always at least one person other than Ceres around and being busy or noisy to make themselves known.

Surion enters the room, he'd noticed the quietness, a stark difference then his last visit when all had crowded the entry moments after they arrived "I"m glad you didn't pick much earlier... only got up a couple hours ago, with the late nights at the club and all I'm not exactly an early bird."

"I have no choice but to be an early bird," Ceres said as she seated him at the front of the table. At the moment she had him seated everyone began to pile into the kitchen with Aurora Dawn in the lead holding a birth cake with a random amount of candles. They all began to sing happy birthday the moment the lights went out.

Surion had been about to reply, he could imagine she was an early bird, after all she had a young child to raise. He hadn't expected the wave of people entering the room, let alone what happened next, he sat in stunned silence, a slow grin spreading across his lips as the surprise wore off.

As the song died down the sound of chairs scraping against the floor could be heard. Everyone was taking their seats. The lights still had not been turned on.

"Forgive the small forest fire... We weren't sure how many to put on the cake... So everyone put a candle on," Aurora Dawn said as she sat the cake down in front of him.

Surion laughs at the proclamation of the 'forest fire' being a part of his cake, he'd completely lost track of the date and didn't even realize until that moment it even WAS his birthday. With a grin he informs Aurora Dawn he was four years before pushing his bangs over his ear and out of his face to blow out the fire.

"Maybe you'll manage to get an extra wish since your blowing out twice as many candles," Aurora Dawn said with a wink.

Surion laughs as all the candles wink out save one, which he blew out quickly. "Maybe ... maybe... not that I have any idea what to wish for, least for myself anyways" he looks at them with a smile.

Everyone clapped and cheered as all the candles where blown out. Once the excitement had died down just tinge the lights came back on- not that it was entirely dark to begin with.

"It's more rewarding when you wish for something for someone else other than yourself," Ceres said with a smile as she motioned to the cabinets- plates and silverware flew towards them eagerly.

"I'll have to think on that one" Surion sits up a lil more allowing for all the plates and silverware to land on the table. "Aurora Dawn did you tell your mum, or someone else tell."

"Tell my mom what?" Aurora Dawn asked innocently enough as her mom motioned for the knife to begin cutting the cake.

"When my birthday was" he grins. He didn't believe her innocence, especially with the answer she'd just given him, not in the least.

"I might have let a little something slip," Aurora Dawn chuckled. She picked up the fork next to her plate and took a bite of the cake.

"Hush up now and eat up..." Ceres said with a chuckle.

"Okay okay" he looks a lil sheepishly towards Ceres before plucking up his own fork and moving to eat, both his pendant and the orb hanging from the chains around his neck swinging against the black tank top he wore. The whole thing reminded him he needed to also go visit his mother, but he'd do that later.

Ceres took a couple bites of cake but didn't even come close to finishing her piece. She sighed contently but tiredly. "I'm not as peppy as I use to be," she said with a yawn. "So, you'll have to excuse me..." Before she left the room she left a small, well wrapped package on the table.

Surion watched her leave, a look of concern in his eyes as she disappeared around the corner "She going to be ok?" he asks none in particular out of the group.

"She's slowing up," Rhine said as he covered Natalia's ears. When she didn't make a move to protest it was made aware that this was something common. "The older Natalia gets the less of our mother there is. By the time she is a teenager she'll be able to take on her own mirror and form her own network- which means all of ours... yours included will have to be redone. Shortly after that Natalia will have to learn to focus all of her will power to control and maintain this island. When that is achieved then our mother's job is done and she can finally rest..."

"Sky's the same way because he's bonded to Ceres," Aurora Dawn said with a sigh as she ate the last bite of her cake. "But, they are happy and ready for this."

"Oh...." he bites his lower lip with one of his sharp incisors lightly, he felt like he had just stirred up something that was dreaded when he asked about Ceres.

"She wasn't meant to live this long," Sky said with soft sigh. He leaned on the wall just inside the kitchen. "She was meant to be born, to grow up, to have a child, to raise the child, and then die... It's harsh, but it's what Maidens are born for." He gave a gentle whicker- no matter how human he may have come to look he still had a lot of Equine in him. "It is just under special circumstances that she has come to live this long..." He smiled. "Do not be sad for us... Everything fades when its time has come."

Surion nods "Just one of those things I guess... most of my family is very young, even my mother has a long long time before she'll even come close, I met a wisen once from the hidden city, he was nearing a hundred, didn't look any older then mom" he sighs.

"We are 450 years old, and way past prime," he said with a chuckle that turned into another whicker. "By the way... Happy birthday," he said as he turned to make his leave. "I'll leave this party to the young."

"Thanks Sky, and say thanks to Ceres for me, she didn't really give me time to say anything" he turns to the others once Sky too had left.

"Well open it!" Natalia said as she finally decided to pry her brothers hands from her ears. It was bad enough that she couldn't see most of the time...

Surion turns open the gift a couple times in his hands, eyeing the young Nat and then with a grin on his face he pulled the corner of it, tearing the wrapping with a 'playful' flourish.

Natalia clapped in delight at the opening of the paper. She couldn't help herself but to help in the opening of the gift.

Everyone in the room laughed at the delight of the youngest in the family rather than scold... Being use to everything being a family evening they'd wait until they saw how Surion reacted.

Surion just chuckled as Nat helped in the opening, he didnt mind, not in the least. He could remember opening things as a child and in his mind it was certainly more fun for the kid then for an adult.

Natalia was still trying to rip into the package despite the fact that the wrapping paper was already gone. Realizing that they were done she giggled and started to giggle again. "Open it!"

Surion kept his eyes on Nat as he pulled open the lid and then looked into the box once it was fully open.

"Mom thought you'd like a second so you had a pair... Something about they function better that way." Aurora Dawn said as she motioned to the bracelet in the box.

"Function better as a pair? Do they do something specific?" He asks curiously as he turns the box over letting the bracelet drop lightly in his hand and then set the box aside.

"They make designs," Natalia said having felt hers a thousand times and how they always felt different. "Like everything else it just takes a little thought."

He nods turning the band of metal over in his hands a few times. He smiles, hell it felt good to have someone think about him and involve him in something like this... Not to mention take the time to plan a surprise for him. He'd not really noticed change in the one he already had, but then he didn't really think that it would.

"I've got one for you," Aurora Dawn chuckled. She pulled the narrow, slightly heavy package from under the table. "It really isn't much considering our business."

Surion sets the band down for the moment and looks to her "Never the value that counts, it's the thought behind it" he smiles.

Natalia clapped in delight at the prospect of getting to help to open another package.

Aurora Dawn nodded her head and grinned. "Hope you enjoy it!"

"Help me out Nat" Surion grins putting it between them, he could tell the pleasure she was taking in the whole thing

"Fun, Fun!" Natalia squealed as she put her hands on the package. She however waited to start tearing until she heard him make the first move... This was his gift after all.

Surion grins and pulls the edge of it along the length. Knowing she'd help in her own way.

With that Natalia was all over the gift and helping to unwrap it. It wasn't the contents of the package that she was excited about it was just the fact of getting to unwrap it. She loved how the packaging made so much noise.

Natalia
I am Natalia and it has been a while since I even thought about recording my thoughts onto paper. Partly the reason I'm doing this again is because my mother told me it is part of my new list of 'chores'. Yes, chores... We had a sit down- a mother, daughter talk. She told me it is time that I learned responsibility and that the day shouldn't be filled with play.

Really, truth be told, it more or less has to do with the fact of Mother slowing up. I'm smart and was born with. They don't want to admit it but my hearing is overly amazing... I guess it makes up for my lack of site. They cover my ears a lot when they discuss this topic around me. I just deal with it and act as if I don't mind. Really I don't mind... What I do mind though is they think me 'dumb'.

Anyways, about those chores. I'm actually excited. I got a gift the other day- a horse. I've caught of glimpse of him a couple times and he's beautiful. He's so blue he's almost black, and his blue hair is almost electric. My favorite part is that he is soft to the touch and gentle. He wasn't just gifted to teach me responsibility but also to give me a friend that could travel the island with me.

I am looking forward to exploring more of the world around me.

The sun's setting and dinners about on the table so I'll write some more later... I have an entire mouth full to say about my brother and his fiancee Keeta!

Unnamed (Thread PRP)

Parties involved in order of first appearance: Jiaolan Banku, and Kawaii_Hime_Ceres.

Jiao'lan waddled out of the exam room, an ultrasound photo held in her hand. She glanced up to the clock on the wall of the waiting room to check the time. The bus wouldn't be around for quite some time yet. she didn't really mind the down time, though, since her mate was away.

The chairs were fairly tall so it took a bit of effort for the four foot one inch woman to clamber into it. She opened the hempen, worn, old bag that was slung about her shoulder, in search of the bottled juice she had stashed away. Once she found it she pulled the lid lock up and took a drink. The young Keikancho-Jin rested a hand on her greatly swollen abdomen as she looked at the picture. She was due any day now, and the picture was a welcome reprieve from the worrying and fretting.

Ceres hadn't had a whole lot of energy as of late to be traveling to any extent. Thus Natalia was accompanied by her brother Rhine (who was engaged to Keeta mother of Joel). Regardless, it still had been a good while since Natalia had been to the GMFC and it was upon her request that they had come.

The moment the door had been opened the sound of bells indicated her arrival. Every step she took she jingled. But, two steps in the door she came to a halt... She use to know this place like the back of her hand when visits where frequent... Having been a while she didn't know if anything had been rearranged and if it had she would have to memorize the layout of the shop again.

Rhine took his sisters hands and led her slowly over to the sitting/play area. He was slow because he knew his sister was counting her steps and making a map of things. "Good afternoon," he said with a polite smile when he saw the woman who was expecting.

"Rhine how many people are there?" Natalia finally spoke... It was rare that she was this silent unless she was focused. Normally she was very noisy and made her presence well known. She loved to have a good time regardless of where she was at.

The masculine timbre that reached her ears took her out of her thoughts. She offered a soft smile. "Hello." Jiao'lan replied.

Her accent was still there, but it wasn't anywhere near as thick as it had been a year ago. It was amazing what enough time away could do. She still, occasionally, had problems with her English though.

Her gaze drifted to Natalia for a moment or two. The little girl's slow, deliberate moments interested her. She did her best not to stare, but each new species on Gaia, it seemed, had their own modes of locomotion. She'd never forget when she saw a pair of nagas at the Grocer's! They were quite nice, really and seemed tickled to death to meet another with an animistic bottom half, who wasn't a centaur.

"One lady who is expecting," Rhine said in response to Natalia's question. Once he had helped Natalia map out what was in direct reach of her he took a seat for himself.

Somewhere in the back of Natalia's mind she recalled a woman having that accent. However, she was unsure if that was the same woman as it had been a very long time ago. "Hello," she said politely. "Are you far along? Does the baby kick?" She asked curiously.

Jiao'lan smiled at the little girl. "I'm probably going to have my baby any time now." She said. "And, yes...it kicks non stop." She paused. "I'd say 'she' or 'he' but we aren't going to know wether we're having a boy or a girl until we meet it." The Keikancho-Jin explained. She assumed she had seen the little girl before but she wouldn't quite remember when.

She had been so forgetful lately!

"You've gotten bigger since I saw you last." She said warmly before looking to Rhine. "Would it be too forward of me to ask what brings you two in today?" She asked, curiously.

"I thought I remembered your voice," Natalia said with a grin. She couldn't remember if she had ever officially seen her... But, she just knew now that they had met before. "With your accent you voice isn't one that you forget."

"Never to forward," Rhine said with a chuckle. "We came because Natalia wanted to get out of the house and it had been a while since she'd been here." He took his mother's bag from his shoulder and dug around for snacks and something to occupy Natalia.

Jiao'lan chuckled lightly. "Yes, I suppose it is quite different from what you'd usually hear around here. " She agreed. The children she ran into since coming to Gaia always interested her. The saying, 'it takes all types', most certainly held true in Gaia.

She nodded. "S'very good of you to take her out and about." The woman said. "And it's a lovely day to do so."

"There are eight of us total," Rhine said with a chuckle. "Since our mother isn't as lively as she use to be we take turns taking care of Natalia... Actually, it's probably a good thing that it happens that way as it makes her diverse."

Natalia wasn't really interested with food or toys... She wanted to meet people- to touch them- to see them. She sighed contently as she turned the toy in her hands.

Unease

----

Natalia found herself wide awake at what she assumed was before waking hours (imaginable ones at that). She made this assumption because the house was still with the exception of her parents and siblings gentle breathing.

She rolled onto her side- tail tangling up in her legs. She let out a whicker of displeasure and reached behind her. She loved her tail- loved her hair... Didn't mean it didn't get in the way and get annoying from time to time.

The more she fussed the more awake she became. The more awake she became the more she began to think... In a couple of days she would be standing in front of a very large group of people. Sure she couldn't see them but she would know they where there.

Her mother felt she was ready for a solo performance... She on the other hand was feeling other wise and was still wondering how she had gotten herself coaxed into such things. Sure it was one thing to play for family or solo.

She sighed and rolled to her other side. The sheets where now becoming as tangled as her tail. Not that she could see it, but she could feel it. In frustration she sat upright and completely broke herself from any possibility of sleep.

She kicked her feet outwards until she felt the edge of the bed- then she scooted that direction. It had been a lot easier to deal with being blind when you couldn't see at all... It had become harder once she had gotten glimpses... She was realizing what she was missing out on.

She sighed softly as she took a couple steps forward. The sheet tangled around her leg acting like a person reaching out to keep her. She threw her arms up and bit her tongue to stop herself from swearing (something she had picked up from Cassara).

She hopped and circled till she was free. Oh but she wasn't getting away that easily... She spun- she fell. Thankfully, luckily, nothing had been directly in her path. Maybe her will had something to do with it. She drummed her hands on the floor as she whickered again.

Despite being all out of sorts she stood up and took a couple steps forward. She wasn't about to wait for help just to make it out of her room. That is when everything got the better of her... She collided with her desk (a few more make shift swears). At least though she knew where she was at.

She counted her way to the living room then to the door that led outside then to the stables then to the stall where her horse was... That she had not yet named. She had promised that soon she would give him a name.

She reached out. Her fingers touched the soft unmistakable muzzle. It tickled her fingers and caused her to smile. This small bond caused the horse to nibble at her fingers. This made her giggle- finally something was going right about her morning.

They stood like this for a good while. Her fingers carefully exploring as she paid attention to his every noise and movement. They curled into his mane as she leaned her face into his side. She inhaled deeply.

Horseplay (Guild PRP)

Parties involved in order of first appearance: keetabirdy, and Kawaii_Hime_Ceres.

----

Keeta stepped through the mirror into the "front door closet" of Ceres and Sky's house. She had arranged to come over today on the pretext that she would go over some wedding things with Ceres while the kids played together. The actual reason for the visit, however, was to surprise Joel with his belated birthday present. She hadn't come over sooner do to Joel having been "ill."

Fortunately Joel was back to his regular eating habits, but she had been so scared! In fact she was rather apprehensive about the whole horse thing at all, and to add him being sick on top of it. She knew having a pet would be a good learning experience as he grew, which is why she had gotten both the children a Bunkichi fluff, but...horses were a much bigger responsibility, and she wondered whether Camille might feel left out.

She looked at the little girl with the green hair that was standing next to her. Keeta felt like she had been somewhat inattentive this past week, as she was caring for Joel. She planned to make it up to her soon. Maybe they would go see a movie together or something.

Camille smiled back at Keeta. She didn't seem to have been terribly bothered by the decrease in attention this past week. The young girl had busied herself with coloring books and the few dolls Keeta had bought her. She was happy right now just to be included in the goings on. Ceres' house was no longer frightening and unfamiliar as she had been here many times now. She still had her bouts of shyness, but they weren't as severe as they had been initially.

Joel wiggled in Keeta's arms. He had had enough of being coddled day in and day out and now he wanted down. He really hadn't understood why his mommy had been upset and hadn't let him play and do the things he normally did. Now that they had left the house, the desire to be "free" reared it's head.

"Down. Down. Down," Joel repeated as he wiggled.

"Ok, Joel! Ok!" Keeta said with exasperation as she set him on the floor.

Ceres hardly realized that Keeta, Joel, and Camille had arrived until she heard the demands of Joel. She looked down and her eyes went wide. She quickly headed back to her room to grab a house coat.

Since she had woken she had not been at ease. Natalia had been gone- when she left or for how long she didn't know. And, what made matters worse was that Natalia had not left a note. She knew she had to be somewhere on the island but it was a very large place.

Coming back out of the bed room she drew in a deep breath- she was trying her best to keep calm... She remembered why exactly Keeta was here and didn't want to disrupt those plans.

She came down the hall and clapped her hands. Suddenly the halls, kitchen, and living room where well lit. The kitchen also came alive with the sound of clanking pots and pans... breakfast was in order.

Once that was taken care of she went to properly greet Keeta, Joel, and Camille.

Keeta frowned. It was unusually quiet and no one came to greet them right away. She wasn't upset, farm from it, Keeta was actually more concerned because the house was normally brimming with activity. Had she gotten the wrong day? She was about to call out, when Ceres appeared. Keeta offered her a warm smile.

"There you are. I was beginning to worry! How are you?"

Ceres tried not to think to long or to hard on how she was doing. "Great," she said trying to make it sound as if she meant it. "Coffee, tea, juice, soda?" She asked trying to avoid the whole 'what's wrong'.

"Mother!" Perian exclaimed as she come into the kitchen in a near full out trot. "Someone left the stable doors open!" She crossed her arms as she whickered. "Irresponsible!"

Ceres tried to sigh her sigh of relief as quietly as possible. She avoided everyone's eyes. "Would you be a dear and close them?" She smiled most motherly.

"Jooth, jooth!" Joel said with a grin as he hurried into the kitchen. Juice was always a magic word with him. He did his best to climb up on one of the kitchen chairs, but struggled with the height. Looking to be 'rescued' he turned to Keeta.

"Mommy up!" he said bouncing around, finding more ways in which to release his pent up energy.

"Up, please," Keeta emphasised, trying to get him to learn the words please and thank you at an early age.

"Pees," he repeated as Keeta hoisted him onto the chair.

Camille followed and walked up to Ceres, before speaking in a very small voice.

"Can I have juice too....please?" she added as an afterthought, after hearing Keeta remind Joel.

Keeta turned away from the table and watched the interaction between Ceres and Perian, her eyes slightly narrowed. Ceres was acting almost....evasive. It wasn't like her. Something wasn't right.....Keeta decided to wait a few moments to see if she could pick up anything else before bringing it up. The stable incident did surprise her though.

"Who would have done that?" she asked, clearly surprised. She had always known Ceres' children to be responsible, at least while they were on the island.

Perian saw that look in her eyes and simply nodded her head. "Certainly," she said turning and trotting this time more gently from the kitchen. The flicking of her tail almost sounded like an angry smack against the wall... Who was she to argue with her mother.

"Certainly dears," Ceres said helping both Joel and Camille. She got them seated (boosters included) and pushed in. "And, here we go," she said as she sat a couple glasses of milk on the table.

Being a mother of eight made her a pro- not that she would openly boast.

Once they were settled she looked to Keeta. She knew exactly who had left it open. She chewed on her lip for a moment and pulled on her robe (as if it wasn't already closed enough). "It's really nothing..." she said with a smile. "So... Milk, Coffee, Juice, Tea, Pop?" She asked again.

Joel looked at the glass of milk with confusion. He wanted juice! Not milk. And he wasn't used to big boy cups yet. Particularly not ones made of glass. He looked from the milk to Keeta.

"Jooth?"

The corners of Keeta's mouth turned down a few degrees, causing her to frown. Something was definitely not right. She shushed Joel with a wave of her hand while she watched Ceres. Was she starting to age enough to become senile? Keeta certainly hoped not.

"No Ceres, I'm fine...." Keeta said slowly. "But since you asked again...the kids asked for juice, and I don't think they're ready for adult glasses yet. Are you sure you're ok?" Her eyes squinched slightly as she scrutinized Ceres.

Suddenly there was the sound of breaking glass behind her. Keeta whirrled to look and saw Camille covered in milk, with broken pieces of glass littering the floor around her feet.

Camille sat there in stunned silence for a moment before starting to cry. She was both scared and sad. She didn't mean to break it! Ceres had given her a big girl cup and she wanted to try it. She didn't mind having milk instead. Unfortunatly her small fingers couldn't properly grip it and it slipped from her hands.

"I...I...sorry mommy!" she sobbed. "I didn'... didn' mean to!"

Keeta immediately went to retrive Camille, ignoring the fact that she was getting milk on herself. She carried the girl over to the sink and started to clean her up with water and a nearby dish towel.

"Shhhh....shhhhh, you're ok," Keeta said, trying to calm the girl. She didn't blame her and she hoped neither would Ceres. Camille had only been using what she had been given.

"Dear, dear, dear..." Ceres said more than a few times over. She rubbed her temples. "This certainly won't do will it..." she chuckled something similar to Rhine (no doubt where he picked it up from). "Keeta... I'll have this mess fixed in a second..."

Ceres felt awful for the mess she had made. It was more than apparent how little she was paying attention and how far away she must have been. She gave a high pitched whistle and everything in the kitchen (within her power) came to a sudden stop.

Ceres waved her hand and Joel's cup turned from glass to plastic and from milk to juice. Two problems down. She snapped her fingers and the shattered glass and split milk disappeared. "Really we don't need to stain clothes or cut toes."

"Now then," Ceres said with a grin as a plastic cup with juice appeared in her hand. "This is for you," she said as she handed it to Camile. "And, I can clearly see it is a pancake morning with extra syrup."

She wasn't worried about the extra energy the sugar might cause because there was plenty of space to use it up in. And, she also had plenty of children to help keep up with the younger ones.

Ceres pulled out a chair and took a seat (more like plopped). It had taken more out of her than she realized. She really missed those days... She continued to wave her hand and reanimate the kitchen.

Keeta watched gratefully as things returned to 'normal' leaving no trace of what had just happened aside from Camille's tear streaked face. Joel had already grabbed his juice, and started to drink, not questioning nor caring how it had come to be there.

Camille sniffled and looked at Ceres, as if waiting for her to get mad. When Ceres offered her the cup of juice though, a tenative smile appeared on her face as she reached for the cup.

"I sorry...." she said quietly.

Keeta leaned over and kissed Camille on the cheek before picking her up and placing her back in the booster seat. Once the girl was settled, Keeta took a seat next to Ceres. She was not normally one to be so direct, but clearly it was needed.

"OK...what's going on? This isn't like you. And please don't tell me you're fine."

Ceres winked at Camille before smiling at them both. She was thankful that it had been fairly easy to fix what had just happened. She watched them for a moment enjoy their juice- but staid vigilant on the making of the pancakes (she didn't need another mishap).

"Everything really is fine now," Ceres said with a smile as she glanced out the window for a split second. "I know exactly where Natalia is." She hadn't even realized she had said it. It had just slipped out when she glanced out the window.

Keeta frowned and looked away, feeling insulted that Ceres continued playing this charade. Weren't they close enough that Ceres could tell her what was wrong? She was about to say something expressing her frustration when Ceres said the second part of her sentence. Keeta turned back to Ceres, an eyebrow arched in surprise.

"You didn't know where she was earlier?"

"All I knew was that her bed was a wreck as if she had struggled," Ceres said with sigh. "No note or anything... Makes one worry," she paused for a moment and looked out the window again. "Especially since this island is suppose to be relatively exclusive." She wasn't going to openly express her fears of the island and what it was capable of. Abstinent minded, she swirled her hand.

"So...why did you feel you had to keep that from me?" Keeta asked coming behind Ceres and placing a gentle hand on her shoulder.

"Maybe I can help. Do you want to try and look for her?" Keeta wanted to find the girl, as she was worried now too. If it had been Joel or Camille...and it had been bad enough when Joel was sick. Keeta felt her stomach twinge slightly at the thought of him being lost. She had to consiously make an effort to stay looking attentively at Ceres insetad of looking behind to her check that her children were there.

"Because I kept hoping that she would come waltzing through that door and that all my worries would have been for nothing. There is no point in worrying you if there is nothing to worry about... Wait and see," Ceres said so gently it was almost frail.

"Lifes lessons can not all be taught by parents. Some have to be learned on there own..." Ceres without second thought put her hand on top of Keeta's when she felt it. She wasn't paying attention to the fact that she had used her cooking hand. And in a split second the spoon in the pancake batter acted as a catapult device.

"Oh dear..." she said with a worried laugh.

Keeta dodged the flying batter, glad it had flown away from the children. She wasn't sure Camille could handle having something else flung at her this morning.

"I'm confused...." Keeta said, speaking carefully. "Why are you worried if there's nothing to worry about? And if there is something to worry about why am I not allowed to be concerned....And I understand that parents can't teach their children everything but...."

After snapping her fingers to get the mess cleaned up Ceres waved her other hand to get things going again. The sooner breakfast was put together the better.

"I meant," Ceres chuckled at the confusion. What a morning it had been. "That there was no sense in worrying you before I even knew that there was reason to worry. I just worry to worry... My children can tell you that."

Perians heavy steps could be heard in the living room as could the slamming of the door.

"Oh..." was Keeta's intelligent reply. She looked a bit sheepish, now understanding Ceres' reasoning. What she still wasn't certain about, however, was whether there was a reason to worry. Was Natalia missing? She glanced sideways at Ceres. but decided to push the matter. Instead her head turned towards the sound of Perian's approach.

For a solid five minutes silent bickering between Perian and Natalia could be heard in the living room. Apparently each person had valid points and neither was going to budge.

Finally they into the kitchen- both red in the face and their arms crossed over their chests. Natalia was covered in flecks of mud from head to toe. They stared each other down.

"CHILDREN!" Ceres said feeling her strings of patience about to snap.

Keeta felt herself withdraw at the tension in the room. Yes...she was Natalia's godmother, but she was not about to interfere when Natalia's real mother was there. She silently made her way to the kitchen table, seating herself by Camille and Joel, avoiding eye contact with the two girls. Whatever was going on, she didn't need to make it more complicated by getting involved.

Ceres took several deep breaths. She was intentionally calming herself down as she made her decision about what to do.

With the pancakes flipping themselves on the stove she finally decided to speak. "Natalia we have company go and wash up," she said looking her directly in the eyes. She knew that Natalia was able to see.

"We'll discuss this later," Ceres said firmly the second she heard Perian snort.

Keeta kept her head down and concentrated on making sure Joel and Camille didn't spill their juice. She would just stay out of it, until circumstances dictated otherwise.

Camille looked at the pair of girls nervously. She didn't care for it when people were angry with one another. It put her on edge and only made her shyness more prominent, especially after having milk spilled on her this morning.

Joel simply watched curiously. He loved his juice, but it wasn't nearly as interesting as this!

"Come on," Perian said with a rise and a fall of her hoof. She held out her hand for Natalia. As angry as she was at this not being settled she wasn't going to linger on it considering their mother had already made their ruling.

Natalia looked from her mother to Perian and then to Keeta. She then glanced at Camille and Joel. This certainly had turn out not to be a good morning. Her head was throbbing as she rubbed her temples. Finally, she held out her hand for Perian to take it.

"That's better," Ceres said with a smile. Once they were out the room she focused on putting the pancakes on the table as well as bacon, eggs, syrup, and a few other breakfast items.

Keeta watched them depart with rising curiosity. Something was going on. Normally she wasn't the type to pry, but Natalia was her goddaughter after all. That gave her the right to know....right?

"I don't suppose it's any of my business, but what just happened?" Keeta said as nonchalantly as she could manage.

"I'd say that falls under sibling rivalry or sisterly dispute..." Ceres said with a sigh as she shoved pancakes onto Natalia's plate. "But, if you mean previous to the kitchen I haven't the slightest." She was being truthful- she really didn't know what was going on.

"I see...." Keeta mused, trying to make a connection between Ceres' previous concern, Natalia's muddy appearance and Perian's frustraition. As she thought, she put a pancake on Joel's and Camille's plates, cutting them into small pieces so the toddlers could pick them up and chew them easily. Keeta did try end encourage Camille to try and use the fork. She was slightly older and it was time to start training her to use silverware.

The two children chewed contently, not even concerned about the row moments earlier. It was no longer happening and so no longer bothered them. Joel was even behaving himself, choosing not to throw any pancake pieces at his sister, and eating the whole thing, which was a far cry better from the last time he had been offered pancakes. Keeta was glad the worrisome time when he wasn't eating had passed. She just hoped it would be avoided in the future.

Ceres really didn't know what to say or what to feel at the moment. Each of her children had their 'quarks' but Natalia's were proving to be strenuous on everyone.

Natalia returned looking far more suitable for the breakfast table. Her hair though not contained was no longer unruly. Mud, twigs, and outside in general had all been washed away. She sat in her normal spot. The way her eyes wondered was good indication she could no longer see. Frustration was still all over her face.

"Good morning Natalia," Keeta started tentatively, taking a pancake and some bacon for herself. She reached for the jam and began to spread it over the top of the pancake, how she liked it best.

"How're you?"

"Nata!"

Joel waved at Natalia, too young still to comprehend that he couldn't see like he could. He grinned in her general direction.

Camille, however, knew better by now and offered a quiet greeting.

"Hello."

"Morning," Natalia said glumly though she tried her best to make it sound as cheerful as her normal self. She sighed as she felt around for her fork... Some things got old quick and she could hardly wait to grow up. Probably later she would be in better spirits and ready to play.

Ceres could hardly say anything about Natalia's attitude because she was hardly the first to bring an unexceptionable one to the table. She smiled as she focused on 'company'. "Wedding plans first or..." She glanced out the window.

"Well we can talk wedding until breakfast is over," she said, following Cere's example and ignoring Natalia's attitude.

"I want to make sure he eats, and if he gets too excited I don't think food will be on his mind," Keeta continued, looking significantly at Joel, who seemed to be oblivious to the fact she was speaking about him. She would be watching his appitite like a hawk for a good month at least.

"I know I want it relatively small...like no more than 50 people on the invitation list. And I know that still sounds like a lot, but I think between the two of us, we can fill that number pretty quickly...."

Camille quietly followed the conversation as best she could, while trying to manage the fork akwardly. She looked at Keeta embarassed, when a piece fell from the fork into her lap. It was still edible so she picked it up with her fingers and but it in her mouth, but it didn't seem Camille was destined to remain clean today.

"Let me help you," Cassara said as she slid her arms around Camille and to the front of the little girl. "Like this," she said softly as she helped the girl curl her fingers around the fork and hold it straight.

"Morning Cassara," Ceres said glancing over at her daughter but kept her focus on Keeta. "Rhine coming?" She asked as she started a side conversation. "What ever number you think is proper. If we count close family I'd say we already have between 15 and 20. We cannot count the restaurant crew because well they will be working hard behind the scenes."

Camille smiled at Ceres. She was still learning, but she would get it soon enough. She set about finishing her pancake.

Keeta started doing mental calculations, thinking outloud as she went. She nodded a silent greeting towards Cassara as she entered the room.

"Well let's see, you, Sky, Natalia, Perian, Cas-...um... Vlad and Kaida, Aurora, Aurora Dawn, Tinker, Ayisha and Masika...and if they don't bring the twins, that's 11 right there...." Keeta's eyes wandered toward Cassara wondering if the young woman had noticed the slip. Either way, she continued with her thoughts.

"Surion, 12....and I would want to invite Luna from the clinic, Jiao'lan and Ke'rehl, Amena and her husband Silver, even though I haven't actually met him yet. Then there's my Evin "family": Annata, Kyo and Momi, Tess, Brat and her son Woodz. That's...." she counted on her fingers adding the new people.

"23. So you were estimating pretty well. Can you think of any names I've forgotten, particularly on your side that I should add to my mental checklist?" Keeta looked in her bag for a piece of paper.

"I really should learn to keep a pad of paper and a pen in here...."

"Imbri and I believe she brings two guests with her as well. Natalia is fond of the little boy," Ceres chuckled as she snapped her fingers and paper and pen appeared. "All you have to do is ask."

"Doubt Rhine's coming... This being a 'woman' thing and all," Cassara couldn't help but to grumble.

Cassara straightened up and then ruffled the little girls hair. "Did you mention Kaida... It would only be fitting that I show up with my fiancee." She walked around the table to take a seat at her place. The kitchen had grown as had the table in the past view months to accommodate the 'new comers'.

"I really doubt Ayisha or Masika would be able to separate themselves from the twins. There is Fauste and Lexi... They are my sisters." Ceres sighed and again looked out the window. "Though I doubt they'll show... It has been a while. Terrible isn't it considering we all live on this island."

"Thanks Ceres. Imbri plus two, and the twins...Fauste and Lexi..." Keeta murmured as she wrote down the names, although she cringed somewhat internally. She hoped that the number of small children that were getting put on the list wouldn't be disruptive. She turned to Cassara.

"I said Kaida, I guess you just didn't hear me. I wouldn't forget your mate," she said politely. "And I don't know if the guest list is necessarily a 'woman' thing. He may want some imput on who gets invited." She turned back to Ceres.

"I know it'll be disappointing if they don't show. I don't expect even half of my Evin family will be there either..." her eyes glazed over for a moment as she thought of Tess. The owner of the bar had been almost nonexistant in recent times, since she had eloped with her new husband. Shaking her head, she brought herself back to the present.

"Those names bring us to 30. Now that we're adding children on there though, do you think I should include Jiao'lan's daughter and Luna's daughter? I'm also thinking about the fairy who attended the birthday party. He seemed very nice."

"Good thing Rhine has plenty of room at the cafe," Ceres chuckled as the number of people on the guest list quickly rose. She took one last bite of pancakes and pushed the plate forward- she would grab it later.

"Rhine doesn't see today as guest list day he sees it as wedding day planning day... And that to him is for the woman folk to do," Cassara mumbled again as she wrapped her tail around the syrup. "And, I was a bit preoccupied," she said in response to Kaida already being on the list.

"Include all the little ones..." Perian said as she came into the kitchen. "We're great with kids... Almost to good," she said with a slight cringe knowing full well how many would want 'pony rides'. "It really is the least we can do considering you really don't need wedding gifts unless you count the skimpy kind..." She shot a look at Cassara already knowing what her sibling could come up with.

Keeta nodded, thinking, wondering if there were more to add. Perhaps they wouldn't have a hard time staying within the limit like she thought they would.

"Well if we keep the numbers down below 50, which we seem do be doing ok, at least the kitchen staff won't be overwhelmed. That shouldn't be more than they would get on a normal business night. I sure hope it's not a bother for Rhine to ask them to cater it...." Keeta frowned slightly as she thought. She never liked asking things of people, even if it was for a good reason. She glanced at Cassara when she spoke about Rhine's interpretation of the day's events.

"Perhaps I should call him. I would like his input. Doesn't seem right to me that he wouldn't have a say in who gets invited..." she started digging in her bag for her cell phone when Perian made her 'wedding gifts' comment. Keeta froze and turned her head so she could see the centaur out of the corner of her eyes. She blushed all the way to the tips of her ears, before turning back to her bag and trying to occupy herself with finding the phone.

"I really doubt Rhine will answer the phone considering he's gearing up for the breakfast rush," Cassara said as she sat the syrup down. "Besides... between our mother and myself we know everyone he'd invite."

Ceres was occupied elsewhere again thought wise.

Perian snorted at Keeta's blush. She was glad that she would never have to worry about those things. "I'm sure he's seen you in less and is a pro at taking it off in seconds... So why blush?"

Keeta mumbled a response to Perian under her breath, that sounded something like, "Doesn't mean I want everyone talking or thinking about it." She cast a glance towards Camille, who just smiled at her innocently as she managed to use the fork to get another piece of pancake in her mouth. Well at least all of this adultish talk was going over the toddler's head. But what about Natalia? Keeta frowned slightly and considered the girl before looking back at Cassara.

"I suppose you're right...I just don't want to leave anyone out that should be there. I guess we can always add to the list later." Keeta turned her gaze towards Ceres, who seemed to be out of it.

"Ceres?" she said, pausing a moment so the older woman's attention could refocus.

"Is there any other wedding issue you wanted to address right now? It seems we have a place for the wedding and reception, a tentative guest list, I have a dress...." she trailed off waiting for input.

"Just the more specific things," Ceres said as she turned her attention back to Keeta. "Flower girl, brides maids- and their dresses... Men's tuxes and such. Nit picky things," she was still acting a bit absentminded as she waved her hands to dismiss the dirty dishes.

Perian gave a side ways look at Cassara before winking. Her mind was already racing at the possibilities especially the ones that would prove most embarrassing.

"Well...I have been considering those things. Haven't made any final determinations yet. It's hard to pick sometimes...." she glanced between Natalia and Camille. Camille was of the right age to be a 'cute' flower girl (and quite literally with the lilies in her hair!) but Keeta wasn't convinced that she could be persuaded to walk down the asile in a realitively large group of people. Natalia was her other choice, but would she consider herself to be too old? She could be a Jr. Bridesmaid but....Keeta sighed and twisted a blue lock of hair around her finger.

"I've actually played with the idea of having an extremely small wedding party with just the best man and the maid or matron of honor...Makes things less complicated. I haven't really discussed that part with Rhine yet. I don't know who he might be considering for his best man, or other groomsmen for that matter."

"Yes, those are things that you have to consider... Not really much I can do to help you out." Ceres smiled as she weaved her fingers. The pen was fast at work scribbling across the paper with random thoughts and such about the wedding.

"I'm going to take these and head over to see Ayisha," Perian said as she grabbed the remainder of the pancakes and headed out the kitchen. She left the syrup and such...

Natalia huffed entirely to uptight to care about eating. She had tried- the evidence was there in the picked over pancakes. Everything, and then some was racing through her mind. "Can we hurry up and play all ready..."

"Do think anyone would get upset if I chose to have only one person up there with me, instead of several?" Keeta looked at Ceres, waiting for an answer, when Natalia spoke. The blue-haired woman raised an eyebrow and looked at the girl.

"Is something bothering you Natalia?" she asked, trying to be gentle.

"I thought you were excited about the wedding..."

"Why would anyone have reason to be upset? It is your wedding," Ceres chuckled. Just as Keeta's attention was turned to Natalia so was hers. She pursed her lips- her patience was wearing thin, really thin.

Natalia entwined her fingers in the ends of her hair. She sighed more in frustration than anything else. She had thought taking a ride earlier would have helped her clear her mind but it hadn't even begun to settle maters. "No, no not your wedding... I just... suck," with that said she stood up and headed out of the kitchen.

Cassara quickly stood up. She had a feeling what this was about. It was turning out that Natalia was a lot like her brother (even if they weren't blood related).

Keeta's eyebrows shot up in surprise. That was certainly not the response she had expected. And to make matters more complicated, she had no idea what might have prompted such a statement from her goddaughter. Blinking, she turned to Ceres, wondering if she might straighten things out, speaking only when Natalia was out of earshot.

"Do you know why Natalia think she 'sucks?' And perhaps what it is she thinks she is poorly qualified for?" This negativity and stubbornness was becoming more and more common in Natalia's personality. Keeta hoped she would be able to keep up when she was the girl's guardian.

"Violin," Ceres mumbled. She wanted to crawl under the table or at least be able to hide her face behind something. She sighed softly and looked from where Natalia once sat to Keeta.

"Natalia is brilliant in her own rights doesn't mean she has the confidence," with that said Cassara left the room. Her tail accidentally hitting the door frame in her quickness.

"Ok.....so she needs to develop confidence in playing her violin. That will come with time. After all, she's still relatively young...but why is she all upset about it? Did someone give her bad marks on performance or something?" Keeta understood how people could be shy about their abilities, such as Rhine being shy about his violin performance. But that didn't mean they stressed about them and made themselves disaggreable. Keeta felt like she was missing some vital piece of information that would make all of this make more sense. She had no idea what that might be, however.

Rhine was hoping we could all play together at the Cafes grand opening... Natalia having her own solo. Like Vlad said she's brilliant in her own rights it is just the glam is holding onto her pearl." Ceres stretched and suddenly realized how under dressed she was- and with it how scatterbrained she had been all morning. "As for the tude you can blame Vald for that... Probably Aurora Dawn to." She shook her head absently.

"Oh....Rhine didn't mention that to me...." Keeta frowned slightly at having not been informed of the family concert. Maybe he just hadn't gotten around to telling her yet.

"Well if she's not ready, emotionally, wouldn't it be better to let her wait? Some people just aren't the type that like to do solos." Keeta pictured what it would be like standing in front of a whole group of people, being expected to play a song all by herself; or at the very least where she was the focus of the song. She shuddered involuntarily. Being the center of attention was not her thing. Her eyes grew slightly wide and she got a few butterflies in her stomach realizing that that is exactly what her wedding day was going to be.

Ceres gave an odd look at Keeta, almost one of those eye brow raising moments that clearly defined 'oh'. "Well I am sure it is because we are finalizing bits and pieces like this..." she motioned towards the door.

"That is where Vlad comes in... She has a knack for getting clams to give up there pearls... Amazing isn't it considering how..." she was afraid to think let alone say the work. She gave a nervous chuckle.

"Interesting.....well I hope it all works out for everyone's sake. I'd hate to see Natalia have a bad experience..." Keeta pursed her lips as she thought.

Seconds later, however, the sound of a sippy cup hitting the floor could be heard. Joel looked over at his mother grinning proudly. Uh-oh....Keeta knew that look. He was in the mood to play slam dunk. Fortunatly, from the look of things, he had finished his pancake, so there really wasn't much for him to toss on the ground. A cursory inspection of Camille's place revealed the same thing.

"Perhaps we should continue this discussion outside," she said significatly, glancing in the direction of the stables.

Ceres tapped her lips for a moment as she looked over at the kitchen mess... She really didn't mind it. It had seen plenty of messes as well as herself and the rest of the family. Seconds later dishes were washing and rags were scrubbing. "Yes, to the stables. But, first let me collect Natalia."

"I have my own collecting to do," Keeta said with a chuckle. "Take your time." She set about getting Joel and Camille ready to go outside, getting them out of their chairs and such. Keeta was grateful for Ceres' magic, otherwise the three of them never would have made it through the meal as clean as they did. Not that it mattered much. They were going to a stable after all. Keeta leaned over to re-fasten the velcro on Joel's shoes, when Camille approached her from behind.

"Where we going mommy?" she asked quietly, having not been outside the house on the island very often.

"Well....we're going somewhere special. You'll see when we get there."

It took Ceres a good eight minutes to figure out which room Natalia and Cassara had hidden themselves in. To her surprise and happiness Natalia seemed to have calmed down a good bit and it didn't take much convincing to her to be sociable again or give out apologies.

Natalia's bare feet smacked heavily against the tile flooring as she came into the kitchen. "Sorry about earlier," it sounded sincere enough at least for a passing apology. With that sad she looked in the direction of her mother (she knew by the swishing of her tail). "Can we go now...?"

"It's ok Natalia," Keeta said nodding out of habit, despite knowing it was unlikely the girl could see it. She looked up and caught Ceres' gaze nodding again.

"And yes, I think we're ready to go." She had Joel firmly balanced on one hip and Camille's hand in hers.

Ceres chuckled as she noticed Keeta's 'load'. She kicked a few stray toys out of their way- she really had to pick things up. Next she held open the door for them. "I hope you don't mind Keeta but I made sure that this could also benefit Camille."

Natalia chuckled. Suddenly she was full of excitement about having 'playmates'. Doubly excited about having 'riding partners'. With a bounce in her step she began to jingle as they headed towards the stables.

Keeta stopped midstride at Cere's "confession," causing Joel to lurch slightly and cling on to Keeta's shirt, to regain his balance. Camille looked up at her with confusion, wondering why she had stopped.

"Oh Ceres....you didn't..." she protested in the tone of those who are appreciative, but overwhelmed. Keeta felt like Ceres was giving her too much. There was no way she would ever be able to return the generosity and she hated the feeling of being in one's debt, even though she knew Ceres wouldn't view it that way.

"I did," Ceres said approvingly enough as if it made things alright. She wiggled her toes the moment they touched the grass- it was one of her favorite things. Once at the stable she motioned her hand so that it would unlock and opened.

"Mines so pretty. Electric blue mane and dark blue coat." Natalia was only dropping a few hints about what was waiting inside for the other two. Then again it probably wasn't that much of a hint considering theirs would be different in color from hers.

"But..." Keeta started to protest again, but stopped when she heard Natalia's excitement. Apparently this was going to give the little girl as much pleasure as her mother, if not more.

"I guess I just feel like it's too much..." she said resignedly.

Joel wasn't old enough to really follow the conversation, but Camille looked from Keeta to Natalia to Ceres and back again. She could tell that something was afoot, but she had no idea as to what. Even though it was many a little girl's dream to have a pony of their very own, very few actually believed it would happen. And even fewer had that wish come true, so the thought didn't even cross her mind, even though she could smell the sweet scent of hay and horses from the stable.

"I hardly see how it can be considered to much when the island is plentiful in them and they are more than willing to offer their services to me and my family," Ceres chuckled. "They are a cross between a Clydesdale and a Shetland. Thick and sturdy- short and portable."

Natalia clapped in pure delight... Every bell jingled and told of her presence. The pony she spoke of looked up and snorted the moment he saw her. He was happy to see her there was no doubting that. What was questionable was if he was happy about all the recent bells that had been added to his mane.

"I guess it's just because I know I'll never be able to respond in kind. I have nothing like this to offer, from natural sources or otherwise, and though I know you would never expect it of me, I wish that I could return the kindness in some manner," she sighed, but smiled when she saw the blue pony and how he responded to Natalia. The two clearly cared for each other, with a bond between humanoid and animal as it was intended to be.

"Pony!" Camille squealed in hushed excitement as she jerked her mother's hand and wiggled, her joy in seeing the animal up close evident in every inch of her small frame.

Joel was equally excited at getting to see the pony up close. He clapped his hands and grinned.

"Horsie!"

"Your time will come Keeta when you will pay me back without realizing it. Let me just enjoy myself while I can... And, part of that enjoyment comes from giving to others and sharing what I have to offer." Ceres snapped her fingers and the other two ponies came from their stables.

Nothing was wild about them at all. Even their stride was gentle almost overly so. Their thick, shaggy manes fell into their eyes- but, there was no evidence they had a hard time seeing.

"I've waited on naming mine so that we could all name them together!" Natalia squealed and clapped. Every bell continued to sing and as her sang so did her ponies.

Camille brightened even more when she saw the approach of the other two ponies, but she didn't put two and two together. She saw how excited Natalia was, but also the expectation on her face. The green haired girl looked from Natalia, to the pair of ponies to Keeta with confusion.

"Camille, Natalia and Ceres are giving you one of the ponies here...and the other one is for Joel. You get to pick a pony and it will be yours to name and ride and take care of. I'm letting you pick first because I think you will know better which pony would be good for you and which one would be good for Joel." Camille just looked back and forth between Keeta and the ponies in wide-eyed silence. After a long moment, she finally spoke in her tiny voice.

"I get a pony?"

"Yes," Natalia began as she took Camille's hands in hers, "ponies!!" She danced in step merrily not sure if the other would follow her lead or not. Her bells only got noisier but none of the ponies seemed bothered by this.

"She's had the hardest time keeping this a secret," Ceres said with a slightly goofy grin that was similar to Rhine's. She clapped in delight and gave a light laugh. "Must admit so have I."

"Indeed...even I didn't know all the secret," Keeta remarked.

Joel was infected by Natalia's mirth and started clapping and laughing again.

"Yay ponies!" he said repeatedly, although Keeta didn't believe that he had grasped the concept that one of these ponies was to be his. He'd figure it out sooner or later though.

Camille didn't seem to know how to process this information. She just stood there, her face a mix between shock and indecision, unmoving despite Natalia's enthusiasm. This was the biggest decision of her very young life! She stared at the two ponies. One was a very light brown with a dark brown mane and tail; the other was a medium, almost bluish grey, with a darker shade of the same color for his mane and tail. Then Camille's expression relaxed some, as a thought came to her.

"Are they boys or girls?" she asked, as if that would help her make a decision.

"I'm pretty sure the bluish one is a girl and the brown is a boy..." Ceres said as she tried her best to recollect. She really didn't know why though she had to think so hard when all she had to do was ask.

Natalia let go of Camille's one hand so she could take hold of Joel's. She didn't want him to feel left out in all the excitement. Her 'bouncing' was becoming a little less erratic.

Tentatively, Camille walked up to the blue-grey pony and gently reached to touch the soft fur of her muzzle. The equine stepped forward, meeting her halfway, nudging her hand and giving a soft whicker, as if realizing this little person in front of her startled easily. Her ears flicked forward curiously as she looked at the little person. Camille smiled and looked at Ceres.

"I can keep her?" She asked, trying to confirm for certain whether she understood. Her eyes twinkled with child-like hope.

"Yes, they are for you and your brother and you get to keep them as well as name them and take care of them. However, since I doubt you'll have room to house them they'll stay here in the stables. Your mommy will help teach you how to properly take care of them." Ceres chuckled as she confirmed for the little girl.

"I finally have a name for mine," Natalia said as she dropped both her friends hands and reached out to stroke her pony. Knowing her disability he stretched out his neck so that his muzzle could touch her hand. He then proceeded to lick her fingers. "I want to call him Lir," she managed to say in between giggles as the pony licked her fingers.

"Thank you!" she squeaked, not quite having the vocabulary to express how happy and excited she was. Camille grinned and turned back to her little pony. She continued to stroke the grey-blue muzzle as she considered names. As was typical of a little girl as young as she was, the names she considered were things like "Princess," "Cinderella," "Ariel." Keeta had been letting her watch too many Disney princess films.

While Camille considered, Keeta held Joel lower so he could pet the other pony. This pony was equally as gentle, but he flicked his tail with the excitement of getting to meet this little boy.

"Joel, this pony is for you. Ceres is giving him to you for your birthday. You get to give him a name, if you want. Or mommy can help you give him a name."

Joel for the moment ignored his mother. He was too absorbed in feeling the pony's soft muzzle and mane.

Keeta turned to Natalia, realizing that she didn't have Joel's attention.

"Why did you choose to name him Lir?" she asked.

Natalia turned her head to the direction from which Keeta's voice was coming. "He reminds me a lot of the glowing sea critters and Lir was the name of a God of the sea of one of those earth countries. Since I cannot call him sea critter I'll call him Lir since they come from the sea. That and he does look godly enough and if not then at least princely enough."

"Well Natalia it certainly is a fine name... Very fitting," Ceres chuckled. She walked over to Joel and knelt down. With her kneeling so did Joel's pony. "Is this easier?" She had chosen to give most of her attention to Joel since the two girls were older and could handle themselves.

Keeta gratefully set Joel on the ground when the pony knelt. Now he could reach it, without her having to hold him up. He giggled and wrapped his arms around the pony's neck. He held up a piece of the pony's mane.

"Brown!" he declared. Keeta had been working on teaching him his colors and brown was one of his more recent aquisitions. Joel grinned with pride at being able to identify something that was brown. Keeta chuckled.

Camille was still considering her pony. She had gotten closer to her, realizing that the pony was going to remain still and not pull any surprises. Stroking the pony's back she spoke.

"Can I call her Daisy?"

"Yes, it is brown," Ceres said with a chuckle as she mimicked Joel and for the moment played with the ponies mane. "Because of his color would you like to call him Mr. Brown- Brown for short?" She was trying to be of help in giving him a name.

Ceres glanced over at Camille and grinned. She was still keeping her focus on Joel and their conversation. "Daisy is a beautiful name!"

"Hurry up already in naming them so we can go riding! It is lots of fun!" Natalia cheered in delight.

"Or perhaps Brownie, or something like that," Keeta said, agreeing with Ceres' line of thinking. A color oriented name would definitely be easier for Joel to deal with then something arbitrary.

The small boy frowned, seeming to think about the suggestions. He hadn't been trying to think of a name. He had just been stating something he knew.

"Brownie?" he said after a moment, as though he wasn't sure of his choice.

"Daisy!" Camille grinned and wrapped her arms around the pony's neck. The small horse seemed to smile and whickered, nibbling on Camille's shirt. She seemed to approve of the name.

Keeta glanced at Natalia at the mention of riding, hesitation crossing her features.

"Um...Natalia I don't know that they can go riding today. They're both very young and neither one of them have even been on a horse before. They need to learn how to sit on and hold on to the horse to be safe before they can think about going riding on their own. I know you're not much older than Joel, as far as when you came into this world, but physically and mentally you are much older than he is." She tried to speak gently, hoping not to hurt Natalia's feelings.

Ceres chuckled when she saw the look on the boys face over the name they had chosen. "I see," she said as she ruffled his hair just a bit. She sat on the floor and crossed her knees. She pulled Joel into her lap gently enough so she didn't startle him. With her motions the pony followed suit. "Do you have a favorite something... You know something you really, really love. He could be named after that."

Natalia just stood there a second before crossing her arms... Clearly Keeta didn't understand. She sighed just a little and for just a second. "My mothers whim... for that matter my mothers anything is law... If she wants it, it happens. So... I don't see why they couldn't ride... And if them riding alone is the problem then let them ride with an adult... I just want them to be able to join me..."

"Airpwanes!" Joel said bouncing up and down. He loved airplanes! The wooden one he had at home was one of his favorite toys. He grinned at Ceres, watching her with two eyes, the third studying the pony.

Keeta looked over at Ceres and Joel, chuckling, before turning back to Natalia. A frown crossed her face and she raised an eyebrow. She didn't much appreciate Natalia's tone. If she was going to be a surrogate mother to this child eventually she needed to establish some manner of authority. She just hoped Ceres would be ok with her reprimending Natalia.

"Natalia, I don't like the way you're speaking to me. It's not respectful. I understand that you're excited and you want to share your excitement, but that doesn't mean you automatically get what you want. It's true, I don't know the extent of your mother's power, but that also doesn't mean that you can ignore my wishes, when it comes to my children. Perhaps I might consider riding with them, if the ponies can support the weight of an adult and a child, but if you are going to suggest something like that, it shouldn't be demanding." Keeta grew silent and just looked at Natalia for a moment, before glancing at Ceres, hoping she hadn't overstepped a boundry of some kind.

Ceres was absorbed with Joel and the naming of the pony that she hadn't really heard much of what was going on between Natalia and Keeta.

Ceres sat there for a good moment trying to think of names of airplanes... However, being one that very rarely visited Gaia and Earth even less she was having a hard time... Then it struck her. "How about Boeing," it didn't sound bad to her...

Natalia's world was a blur compared to the darkness she normally saw. She put her hands on her hips as if about to challenge before folding them over her chest as if defending herself. She sucked in a breath, bit her lip, and just held that breath. She occasionally glanced at Keeta but not for an extended period of time... She was unsure what to say.

Camille shrank next to her horse when she saw Natalia get her 'hackles up.' She had seen her angry before and she didn't want to be in ther middle of anything. The small girl just stood, quietly petting her pony.

Keeta watched Natalia as she worked to control her emotions. While Keeta didn't agree with Natalia's attitude, she had to admit the girl had a surprising amount of self control. If she had been reprimended like that at that age, Keeta knew she probably would have cried or gotten angry, and both of those were ok. She wondered if it was a good thing that Natalia semed to be surpressing or controlling her emotions.

"It's ok to be angry. Or to cry," she said gently, watching Natalia, trying to gauge the girl's feelings by her expression. "You don't have to like what I'm telling you. I know it's not fun to hear, but its what needed to be said. Respect of other people and creatures I think is the most important thing anyone can learn and I'm just trying to help you get there."

Joel shook his head. That wasn't a word he knew. He didn't want to call his pony something he didn't know. He started thinking of all the words he knew dealing with airplanes; wings, air, fly, crash, rocket, space, jet. Jet? He smiled and looked up, finally saying the word aloud.

"Jet?"

"Jet it is then?" Ceres asked as she reached out to touch the pony's muzzle- it meeting her in the middle. "I think it is a very good name... Very fast." She chuckled.

Natalia shook her head- almost fiercely. She wasn't going to cry- to let things get the better of her. Finally her body relaxed but she still seemed to be refusing to look at Keeta. "Giving in means defeat," she finally said, and simply enough.

Natalia held out her hand just as a breeze picked up. Lir came to touch her finger tips. He tossed his head and rolled his head about until her fingers touched his mane.

"Natalia," Ceres said softly enough yet still firm. She didn't want to disturb the toddler in her lap, but she knew she really couldn't let this go on. She had only just caught the last bits of the conversation.

"Someday you'll understand... Until then all I can do is tell you how sorry I am," for ten she sounded and was acting older. It was just another wave of what was inside of her. She tangled her fingers in Lir's mane. Their eyes almost expressing the same thing... A wild, untamed hunger for the world around them... A world where they didn't want to be controlled- Freedom.

It was well after Keeta, Joel, and Camille had left and good bit after supper when Ceres had settled herself and Natalia onto the sofa in the living room. She'd been contemplating discussing the mornings events off and on all day. Finally she had arrived that it did warrant a good talking to even if it ripped open a new wound and caused some confrontation... She was the mother after all and she didn't deserve to be kept in the dark or have to practically beg to get an answer... Though she hadn't really tried all that hard to get information this morning due to company.

"I don't appreciate your actions this morning," Ceres said feeling that that was a proper beginning to this conversation. "I'm sure no one else did either," she added.

Natalia instinctively looked down as she began to fidget with the lower part of her dress. She hadn't realized how 'nasty' she had been... Lately it came so easily. She really wasn't sure if she was suppose to apologize again since she had already apologized this morning.

"Haven't you anything to say?" Ceres didn't care about an apology really or for that mater a ton of excuses... What she had hopped to get was a reason behind it all.

Natalia shook her head. She wasn't about to say anything when she wasn't sure what exactly she could say.

"Natalia if something is wrong you can talk to me... If not me then at least someone. It really isn't fair to me or anyone else when you lash out in frustration." Ceres put her hand on Natalia's leg and sighed softly. She really wished Natalia would just open up even if a little bit.

She fisted her dress and bit into her bottom lip. She had thought it was all over with this morning when nothing else had been said. She couldn't believe that her mother had thought it would be over more than just what Cassara had assumed...

"Just the violin then?" Ceres asked hoping that that was indeed all it was and that Cassara had struck home with her guess. "Would Vlad's suggestion help you out? You know a couple trips to the park before hand."

Natalia nodded her head just a little and eased up on her nervous actions. Anything at this point was worth a shot... Especially if it got her mother off of her case. It was hard enough to sit here and take it when all she wanted to do was continue to ignore this problem and any others... She wanted to take comfort in the stables and sit with Lir.

Ceres was trying to think back when she had been young. She had never grown this quick- but the island had been 'dumped in her lap' this quick. Everything about this island was different and half the time it was hard to know what was what- up and down, left to right, young to old...

"Alright then," Ceres smiled. "You may go and play." Though matters had been settled in a round about way Ceres still was not
completely pleased with Natalia's responses and reactions.

Natalia swallowed a guilty lump from her throat as she scooted to the end of the sofa and then bolted out the front door. She could see but everything was fuzzy as if the world had been smeared by water and paint had run amuck...

Ceres
An accomplishment is what? An instance carried into effect. Fulfillment. Something creditable. A deed, a measurement. A grace, a skill, or some variation that has been recognized by society as greatness...?

How about a legacy- a child? A well raised child?

I just want to make sure that I accomplished something. Raising seven previous to Natalia you would think I considered myself as having accomplished something...

I use to but then the eighth child came into the picture- or should I say world. My own flesh and blood and tears.

And, everything inside of her threatens to swallow all that is good and with it end my chance of accomplishment. I can only teach her, guide her- hope for the best. But in the end it is all up to her.

I cannot compare any other child to Natalia.

A dozen or so by blood but each of them with only one purpose... To carry on what was left before them.

Half a dozen adopted which I hardly had a hoof in raising as it was only recently that I gained this form. But, they each have the ability to go out and seize life and embrace it to the fullest...

Natalia herself though like my other children by blood is to carry on what was left before... She is different. To have the weight of an island on her shoulders.

A weight no one should be burdened with especially when you consider the intricate balance. It is no longer her life, but everyone's.

Growing up together with her mother I watched how this can affect a person. I just hope for the sake of herself and everyone she can handle everything and then some...

I don't care that she is just a child at this moment... I want to see her grow up, grow old, and have a family. I want her to be free of this mess even if it means an end.

An end I know that has been predicted for some time...
