The barely visible creases on Orika's brow darkened when Karite told her how he'd almost been murdered by Tanu in cold blood. His vendetta seemed earth shaking in comparison to her simple school girls' argument. Orika flushed with shame that she said she 'hated' Tanu... One didn't hate somebody unless he had a real reason, like Karite did. The girl shakingly knelt in the water, unusually silent for a moment as she gazed at Karite's now lighter skinned chest. Was that scar Tanu's doing? No, surely not. If she had really slashed open Karite's chest like that, Orika would think that Tanu'd be kicked out of the academy or even off the island. But... the girl could imagine that monster doing something so brutal. "I'm Orika," she replied softly, "So what did Tanu do to you?" Karite seemed determined to pay Tanu back for the harm he suffered at her hands, but as the russet-eyed girl looked over the wild boy's body, she shook her head. "Yeah, she definitely needs to be taught a lesson, but... well, your muscles are smaller than hers," the farm girl pointed out meekly, "I don't want to sound mean, but do you really want to take the risk of losing to her again? You might be risking all you have in one fight." If Tanu really did beat Karite up as badly as he claimed, Orika didn't want to lose the boy so soon. She didn't become a ninja in training to see her classmates get killed. Clearing her throat, the girl said, "I've got a plan if you want to hear me out. Tanu's everyone's enemy so I think you should include others in your revenge. Isn't it better to ensure that she pays for what she did? So, what if I caught her in one of my traps before your fight starts? It'd give you the advantage for the first strike, but the rest of the battle's all yours."
PostPosted: Tue Jul 29, 2008 11:28 pm

Karite looked her and realized he might have over done his story. "She tried to cut me down from the dorm rooms with a Kunai." Remembering his first night in Shima. As he looked at Orika he noticed her eyes were running over his now showing scars. Smiling he comforted her, "These are not from Tanu. This was from the night Shimada attacked. While I had only been here a couple of hours who could resist a fight to protect others." As Orika's words played over in his head he couldn't help but smile even bigger. "I know this myself. Kore is always by my side, and since the black smith is making me a staff I think the advantage is mine. She cant hit what she cant get near. I am lacking in strength it seems from all the students I have seen, but I am fast and agile. I fight with honor as well so i will fight her on my terms. I do appreciate the offer though. But you can watch. weather I win or lose it is good for everyone to see that she is nothing more then a bully and not a demon like some have labeled her." Karite got out the water and sat next to Kore. "Winning and losing more then likely wont make a difference. Tanu seems to be that way for personal reasons. this fight is more for my own insight into what a shinobi is. Until a month ago I never knew what a shinobi was. I am still a little lost on it. Fighting in itself as well I am new to. Running was a lot easier for me being so fast. You Orika? what is it that makes you hate Tanu?"

"I don't really hate her," Orika answered, scratching at some dirt underneath her nails while her eyes lifted from Karite. He'd been brave enough to take on Samehada, even sustaining wounds, while she had fled the island. She started to wonder whether she had the courage to take on Tanu herself or if that was just her mouth going off. "Doesn't mean I won't do anything to her, though. On my first day of class, she came in and bragged about how she could take on the whole class of girls by herself. Then, she made snide insults for the rest of the day without getting any work done. I was the only one in the class who knocked her down from her pedestal and Tanu gave me an evil look as if nobody had ever said anything mean to her. So like you, I want to show people that she's all talk and not much else. She might be skilled enough to beat down some people, but she doesn't work hard so it's only a matter of time before the rest of us can smack her around." As soon as Tanu's veil of invincibility was pulled off, Letting Karite take on Tanu while she sat in the sidelines didn't seem like a problem to the roughneck. It was the ninja way, that she hid in the shadows learning of her opponent's techniques while being on call in case the fight went out of hand. Perhaps she would learn what a shinobi really was too! Orika smirked as she tromped onto the sands, rivers of water sliding off her pants. She got on all fours and shook the drops off, doggy style, then plopped down next to Karite. No sooner had a few seconds passed before the girl grew restless and bounded back to her feet. She staggered a bit from getting up too quickly, letting the black dancing onigiri fade. "I heard we have a study hall at the academy today. Let's get there early so we can train more than anyone else!" Orika danced towards the sandy dirt path that led up the hill to the rest of the village, beckoning Karite and Kore to join her.

Karite listened to Orika and found what she spoke just to be Tanu's nature. Not saying much else at the moment he heard study hall and instantly thought of school in the wave country. It was more of a form of torture there. As Orika shot up from her sitting position though Kore and Karite looked at each other with confused eyes. Standing Karite patted Kore on the head and clicked his jaws as he followed the girl to the academy for whatever reason drove her.

Kore found this other human to be quite strange. Nothing like Shuga or Maya. She was more energetic and seemed to be bubbly instead of intense. Standing near Maya and Shuga you could almost feel the fight in them but with this one it was a warmer feeling. Kore did not ponder the thought long though. Hearing a click he snapped to a straight pose before trotting along after Karite and orika.

[Enter from Tenmoki House.]

Glad that she hadn't bumped into anyone on her way down to the shoreline, Aya had made it to the docks. She wished that it was later in the evening so the dark would be able to hide her actions of bringing down to large packs, but she would just have to be careful. There were fisherman down at the docks, but not very many since it was the winter time. Fish were scarce around this time, so they didn't go out on the boats very often. Aya tried to find a spot where her packs wouldn't look suspicious. There were crates and the such lying about the docks and Aya was sure that if she put down the bags there they wouldn't be looked into. There weren't any boats being loaded up, so Aya was sure that they would be safe there.

On her way back to the village, Aya double thought about getting food. It might be suspicious if she were buying lots of food. Then again, Yuki and the family had been away from the house for some time, so she could use the excuse that they needed to restock. Aya sighed and thought that she should wait here..

[Enter from Uchiha Estate]

Sukotto arrived at the shoreline of Shimagakure to a somewhat unpleasant scene. Sine he had been absent on the mission into the Orochi village, the seasons hadn't waited for him to return and shifted from Autumn to Winter. Having been tired and disoriented on his way from the Clinic to the Estate, he hadn't noticed just how cold it was outside. After expelling a deep breath and seeing the smoke-like vapor escape his mouth, he began to wish that he had dressed warmer. He could have simply stepped back into his residence after experiencing the cold, but his mind had been to concentrated to even notice; he made a mental note that he would have to better pay attention to his surroundings.

The genin had decided to continue with his regular agility training, figuring that his muscles would be rather tight after being bed-ridden for most of the day and on the trip back from the Rice Country. In addition, some running would warm up his body, even in the face of brisk temperatures. Without anymore hesitation, Sukotto took off on a dash, keeping his pace at about eighty-percent in an attempt to lessen the chance of straining any muscles.

He felt like he could run forever, run until his feet touched Fire Country soil and then past whatever lie beyond those borders. He would go find Ichi himself and murder without an iota of hesitation whomever stood in his way! Principles were for samurai blind to a war without laws! Shinichi saw himself burning the entire Rice Country until even the ashes didn't resemble ashes. Mountains of the grey, smoldering material would fill the air until he could reach out and grab a fistful to crush beneath a boot. Shinichi roared like a wounded beast upon spotting a train of wriggling maggots, lashing out with hooked claws to slash away the mist that had built up to distort his vision. But, there was no mist. His eyes stung, a sunburn where no moisture would reach, something the ANBU quickly attributed to sea salt and nothing more. He pinched the bridge of his nose while a choke sounded from deep within his throat. Damn salt...

As Shinichi bent to splash some cold water and sense onto himself, he lost his footing. The man saw ocean rushing to painfully greet his face before reaching out with both hands. He rebounded, skimming the water with a somersault and landed back on his feet. Shinichi blinked, frowning when his blurred vision cleared, only to be clouded by numerous black shapes, elongated and constantly flickering. He clenched his eyes shut and reopened them only to be greeted by the same glowing images. A hand flew to his neck and two fingers expertly found a vein to determine whether he was still alive. Good. Shinichi turned his head to stare at the receding shoreline, noting two figures, one sprinting towards the other at a ninja's pace. Apparently he wasn't as far out as he thought. The black tongues that burned itself into his vision prevented him from discerning anymore so the man turned towards the blue horizon. He hadn't taken one step before the black flames suddenly merged into an abyss of darkness as powerful arms wrapped themselves around his neck. Shinichi cursed, loud enough for anyone in the general vicinity to hear, and his hands reached up to grab hold of the strangling arms, his body poised to flip his assailer onto his back. But, the ANBU froze when the arms, gentle yet firm, switched position to slide down his shoulders, coming to rest protectively around his chest. Shinichi slowed his breathing to match the darker man's breath on his neck, bowing his head so that his back rested comfortably against his partner's warm chest. He reached his unwounded hand to stroke Ichi's soft, curly hair, wishing the illusion that felt so real to never cease. Within his lover's embrace, he could do anything; there were no limits whatsoever. The fire between them would light a new flame into each villagers' heart. He could lead this village, could easily portray the great and kind traits that turned shinobi into loyal dogs.

And just like that, Shinichi found himself alone again just as he was about to say something. A particularly strong wave crashed into his slouched figure, sending the man reeling into the waters. He spat out a mouthful of vile seawater and clamored back on his feet, though this time in a kneeling position, too weary to stand. Shinichi gazed at his crystal-clear reflection, tracing the dark bags that already had underscored his bloodshot eyes. The ANBU lightly traced a line down his cheek, watching the ripples wash away his haggard reflection. How could this be? He had actually seen and touched Ichi; The shorter man's porcelain skin was unmistakable. And yet Shinichi knew that the terrible, terrible ache in his chest that grew exponentially worse when the image faded away dissuaded any notion of this being a dream. He shut his eyes, trying to will back the bliss, but came up drastically short. "Ichi-kun..." Shinichi half-growled, half-moaned, "I love you...."

It was when air bubbles erupted from his nose that Shinichi realized that he had been gradually sinking and was now completely submerged under the waves, having been too preoccupied to really care. He allowed himself to bathe in the icy water for a few moments more, the bone-chilling temperature serving a dual purpose. It would refresh and numb him for the day ahead, but alas, the bitter-salty liquid also eroded away a layer of Shinichi's stony interior, getting one step closer to the teensy pink heart trapped somewhere at the core. When he couldn't stand it any longer, Shinichi surfaced. His hair plastered against the tip of his shoulder blade as the man mechanically swam the distance to shore. As he shook the water off doggy-style, Shinichi reached into his mouth and pulled out a crush of grey rock that had somehow gotten into his system. He ran the bit of gravel in his fingers, rough-hewed features furrowed in deep thought, then flung the pebble far out into the ocean. That same far-off, contemplative expression remained as he slowly made his way back to town.

Even though Shimakagure's most powerful ANBU was creating quite the startling scene atop the water near the shoreline, Sukotto paid him no mind. He could have easily witnessed the instance with his Sharingan, but the Uchiha had only one purpose in mind: getting his body back up to speed so that he could successfully research and learn the new technique that appeared to him in his visions. It wasn't simply about becoming more powerful anymore, for he knew that he was still a long way away from considering himself even remotely fearsome and would have taken a break to check on the shinobi that would have seemed to have been attempting to drown himself, upon closer observation. Discovering the new taijutsu was the only way that he could think of to suppress the new monster that he felt take hold of his heart after witnessing the climax of Ichi's battle. As he continued to run, he decided that he wasn't just doing it for himself anymore, but to protect Shimagakure from what he could become.

It didn't take long for Sukotto to realize how arrogant his thought process would have seemed to anyone else. He didn't necessarily believe that he alone would be a threat to Shimagakure, he was, after all, only a mere genin who had never actually won a fight. Instead, he believed that whatever negative emotions lied within himself could potentially be contagious. He had always wanted to be in a leadership position, but if he didn't understand himself or knew that this sorrow and rage within himself was unstoppable, he couldn't lead without rubbing some of that off onto whoever followed him. The genin figured that the new taijutsu style would help him control himself, but couldn't be certain that it would be enough to completely contain whatever it was that wanted so badly for him to let it loose. The taijutsu would only be a temporary fix while he searched for any chance of healing himself. Unfortunately, he had a hunch that that task would take him out of Shimagakure. It was a wonder that Sukotto managed to think so deeply and still run on a straight course. If anything stepped in front of him while he was so distracted, he would have been lucky to avoid it.

As he began to consider the idea of leaving Shimagakure, Sukotto realized that it would be far too dangerous to attempt any sort of rouge-mission on his own. However, he didn't think that any genin in the village would be crazy enough to leave the village without the guidance of their precious sensei or a jounin to babysit them. The Uchiha noticed that the sorrow within his heart was getting the best of him again. He would never normally think about his fellow shinobi like that. After shaking the negativity out of his mind with a faster running pace, he started planning his leave of the village once again, taking note of what he had already discovered on his own. Asking a genin to go along with him risked the chance of getting the offer reported to a higher ranking shinobi. Jonin and chuunin were out of the question, of course. They were just as likely to betray the village as they were to help out a mere genin with a personal problem that required more than a lecture.

Academy students. As he sprinted along the near-frozen shoreline, Sukotto found the answer to his problem. They wouldn't be as powerful as genin, of course, but Sukotto felt that he could bring down a chuunin on his own, given the right circumstances. And soon enough, the Uchiha wouldn't have to rely on his Sharingan to lead him into victory. With the taijutsu style and the technique that he dreamed of, he would be quite the force to reckon with. Finally figuring out that he had lost his original train of thought, Sukotto backtracked and came up with more reasoning for his decision regarding the students. Weak as they were, he could protect them and train them better than the misguided "cutesy" curriculum of the academy could ever hope to do. Feeling something angry swell within his heart, he continued to think poorly of Shimagakure's system. He figured that the teachers were either half-hearted volunteers or reluctant veterans sharing what was easy to learn. If the students really wanted to meet their potential, they would also need to realize this.

While the institution focused its training on a broad range of skills, Sukotto would test the academy students and strengthen their weaknesses and expand upon what they were already proficient at. Rather than making a taijutsu tank learn anything about chakra control, he would have them focus on detecting a stealthy enemy that would destroy them over an extended period of time. Instead of wasting a ninjutsu wizard's time with a weapon that they would never use, he would show them how to finish an opponent before they even thought about wielding theirs. Additionally, he would teach them the value of fighting in a squad rather then arrogantly trying to take on an opponent by themselves, as Sukotto had been forced to do time and time again. He was actually confident that he had a slight chance to create a team that would best any other in the history of the village.

The thought of having his very own squad to command sent a chill down the Uchiha's spine that nearly took him off course. He was still only a genin, but that didn't completely dampen his spirits. The most important thing that he would have to remember was to not push the group too near to or past their limitations. The team that he would be working with would be very young. His original thoughts about training them to work together would be the best way to overcome their inexperience and lack of developed strength. It would also be key to have them specialize in a few skills, as he had done with his ninjutsu training in his youth. However, they would need to be focused a little better, since they wouldn't have the Sharingan to back up any weaknesses that their skills didn't cover.

Deep down in the furthest reaches of his heart, the entire ploy about training his own squad of academy students was Sukotto's way of dealing with the loss of Ichi. The terrible feeling within his body wasn't an illusion, but he had no idea how to stop it from hurting so much and coming up with a crazy plan was just one of the two ways that he had come up with to do so. As he ran, he refused to believe that the feeling would stay with him and that an adventure with a few new friends would be plenty to take away what had been building up within himself. Since the village lacked a strong sense of leadership, and he knew that that would be the case even after the next Kage was selected, Sukotto figured that it would be easy to take advantage of the weakness to accomplish his goal. He excused his actions by simply dubbing it: His ninja way.

Indeed it was his ninja way; to observe and exploit anything with a visible weakness, using it to his own advantage. At least, his philosophy had become changed that after the negative feelings within himself woke and began to take control. He would simply have to stick to that way of thinking until he was able to heal himself. It wasn't as if he would be 'using' the academy students, per say. After all, he would be giving them specialized training that would ultimately make them stronger than they would have been, having simply followed the academy's teaching. Even though his ambitions were primarily selfish in nature, Sukotto felt as if he needed to justify himself so that he wouldn't start believing that the negativity inside of him hadn't already taken over.
