if you're out of practice, you shouldnt' be charging by the hour, since you will more or less be experimenting to get a feel for the technique again since you've not been able to do that for a while. i'd think that for this case, you'd charge less. (or maybe that's just me confused )
personally i've never charged per hour because the complexity, skill varies from area to area and piece to piece. asking gaians to price your art is really putting people in the spot. (they don't want to under/overprice your art)
for anyone who seriously asks me how much to charge their art, i say 1g. and i'm being totally serious.

actually, i prefer art that's well done and usually more stylistic/characterized than mainstream. and i'm choosy about what i draw more. the good thing, i get more artistic freedom. i hate drawing for people who give me a pg of details. i'm like, whattheshit, no. >_>;

Me, sometimes I buy like, those popular styles, but I mean... what I go for is the artist that can get my character best. I do like funky styles, but if it's not going to match my characters, I won't do it. Like, there are a ton of awesome chibi styles out there, but I'll only offer Kai as a chibi model because I can't see my other guys ever going that cutesy, really. Popular as b/w inc is, and how great her art is... her style just doesn't fit my chars.
I mean, Rivek's... not gonna stand there looking sexy, teasing, and shirtless. He's just not. He's also not going ot look like a prepubescent boy with saucer-sized eyes. And i mean, I'm more than willing ot forkover and wait almost forever for that perfect comission.
Lol. I give artists a shitload to read and then tell them that can read it or not, lol. Your own pose, your own clothing, your own setting if you wish. Just keep him in character.
But as for that, it's where I get my pay - those details. I try to do every friggin' thing specified, which most artists won't. You show me that corset, I'll do that corset. You show me this scene, I'll do that scene. I have a 10-page cap, but 10 pages is a lot, considering. XD
Then again, I've also taken those kinds of commissions where it's like "here, have a refpic. Now, go play." However, I usually do want confirmation over whether I can alter costumes and such because some people get a**l about that.

I was experimenting with that piece and I've done a few others after it that I won't be scanning or showing here because they're both too large and for class. Getting the result of that piece offered here is not hard and I know how to do it without having to experiment. And yes, if I do decide to offer it I would charge less. The above price is more a base for me to use should I offer it anywhere out of here, which isn't too likely anyway. In here for the special offer (special in this is the only place I'm offering and the price) I'd probably nail it down to 50-75k. As for pricing by hour, it has its pros and its cons. However, as a beginning illustrator in school, I'm using that method inside it and out, not a Gaian standard. I feel anyone can charge what they want. Others may not agree with your prices, that's fine - they don't have to buy. Every artist has their own personal feelings on how much their art is worth, it's still a very subjective topic. I never asked anyone here to charge for me so much as thoughts on how to as I haven't done it for a long time and this is quite different from anything I've ever offered. Would've gone for an auction, but I really have no interest in it anymore nor do I poston Gaia outside of here. It's just too much of a damn hassle. I've always preferred one on one commissions. As for detail.. well, I will still harge by the hour on how much time I think I'll need. Most ofthe time it's more, so I get shorted. *Shrugs* No big, it's my mistake anyway and I still feel the price'd be fair, y'know?

for the small amount of watercolor pieces i did on gaia i charged 100-300k (only did 3 for gold and the ones i'll be doing in this last auction/as gifts)
the supplies are just worth too much for me to spend a lot of them on stuff for gold - and i am a po', no mommy and daddy paying for my expenses :~(
it's hard to say what to charge for watercolor. if you're offerring watercolor i'm assuming its because you're enjoying it and you'll be benefiting from the practice, so i guess it all depends on the accessibility to supplies and such.
charging per hour won't work here, i'm sure a lot of people have tried. of course that's how things work as an illustrator, but you also draw up contracts as an illustrator and that wouldn't work here either. since it's more for learning and less for benefiting from the gold, then i think you should charge a fixed price. it'll be easier to deal with in the end.

I've always charged by the hour for what I do on Gaia and it worked well enough for me because I do have a generally good estimate of what time it'll take once I'm told the complexity level of the piece. I work around a lot of time constraints and I've pulled enough all-nighters to hunch over something for 10+ hours at a time to figure it out X-x *wishes she had a voodoo doll of a certain professor she has for 3 classes a week about that for switching deadlines and not giving enough info*
But this is turning into a needless debate on fake payment that's kinda discouraging my want to do a painting. After thinking on it, I'm just going to withdraw it for now until such time I am actually more comfortable with it, sorry for inconvenience andany let down, Chemie and Little Dream. If you want, you can approach me via PM sometime or something and see what's up on it, just not right now. sweatdrop

they're classic dolls with dresses/clothing that's latched onto the doll with a series of foldable extension like this: someone else's sample
though for my dolls, everything is already cutt out
it's my usuall stuff - only cut out and in watercolor. i might be working with marker too, depends on my mood and the subject matter i suppose.
the dolls are about 5-8" tall. they can be mailed if the person pays for shipping + a little extra for my 40 min drive to the post office and if they pay for the original pieces
i'd like to have a couple of options as i'll only be doing one free doll
the number of outfits i make depends on the oc/avatar/photo i choose. if the person lets me design the outfits than i might make several, if there are defined outfits then i might just make one aside from the underwear the doll will be in.
i'll be choosing someone soon if i get a lot of responces.
i highly prefer females, though if your oc is a young boy, then i like those too.
