Kit was soon bobbing his head in time with the faster tune that the others had picked up, the once lullaby sound had much more of a celebratory feel. His talon tapped along and he resisted the urge to clap in time as well. As other voices around the cave picked up the song he felt keenly aware of how much attention was focused to this once secluded part of the cave and didn't want to further bring that attention to himself. Claw-tapping would do for now.

Faria was adoring the feeling that she was getting from the other assembled harpies in the cavern. It reminded her back when she was growing up in the colony that her and Makani came from. When she and her colony sisters would do things together they'd sing to each other, and having a familar face from those days raising his voice too just made her feel warmer than what a mere fire could. She poured her heart into the song, her bright green eyes closed and a smile on her face, just soaking up the warmth of the gathering.

Hiding a smile, Yakira was pulled into the refreshing feeling of the song. She hummed quietly and sometimes even caught herself singing along softly in her own clear pure voice. It was like she'd heard the song...maybe from her mother a long time ago? Could she even remember that far back?
But Yakira pressed those thoughts aside as she was some what swept into the song. She looked around at all of the other harpies especially to those who were singing loudly and couldn't help but to allow a hint of her smile to show.

At least on the surface, tensions lifted for the remainder of the short evening and many went to sleep with the happy melody playing through their head, Kit included. He had hung back as others began to ready for sleep and waited until he knew where he was supposed to go, unsure if sleeping would be divided by gender or if it was more a huddle-together-regardless sort of thing. Mixed in with the melody in his dreams he thought of Azure and the coming meeting with the Matron. Through the night the wind howled intermittently until it finally subsided along with the falling snow. A thick coat of white covered the upper reaches of the mountains and many lower areas too. In the morning some of the snow had to be cleared from the mouth of the cave before anyone could leave and while that was being done the others broke camp and made ready for their journey.

Yakira stretched and looked around the deserted area she had decided to sleep in. If she had slept at all that is...mostly the harpy had been awake listening to the wind and at a loss of what to do. Yakira was torn between sneaking out and leaving the group, but she had wanted to talk to Kit more...
Sighing the harpy wondered why life had to be so difficult at times. Clawing tangles out of her red hair, Yakira as silently as possible moved about the cavern and finally approached the mouth of the cave. 'Cept for the pile of snow prevented Yakira from silently leaving. 'I guess that made things clearer....but how should I even approach? ' She thought and headed back around secretly looking for Kit.

It was Iris she would find instead, however, the colorful harpy rising early to prepare for the flight back to the colony, gathering maps and berries she'd plucked from a bush near the mouth of the cave. The rich blue color made for excellent paint, and frost berries were difficult to find, even in the winter when they so thrived. What she didn't use for paint would make for a good trade with one of the other girls for something else she needed.
Unfortunately for the white avian, the scarlet harpy had not taken any more of a liking to Yakira over night, and a frown slid across her tanned face. "And just what are you doing sneaking about so early?" Likely trying to wake Kitrio so she could whisper more poisonous lies to the poor male. As if he weren't confused enough already without some feather-brained malicious nit wit telling him things that weren't true.

It's too early in the morning to put up with this harpy! Was the only thought on Yakira's mind as she heard that all too hard to forget voice, "Oh I'm sorry, did you deem it that I can not even move about?" She muttered with a glare. Actually that's what she wanted to do, but instead Yakira tossed her a tight smile. "Sneaking about? I'm just up early and noticed the pile of snow blocking the exit. So I started to wander around, that's not doing any harm is it?"
Iris seemed to enjoy tormenting her and she wondered whether she should just let Iris pluck out her feathers this time instead of allowing the other harpy much room to talk. Might as well, better than most of her comments. Iris had not experienced what Kira's old life had been, and probably would never understand those feelings. Life wasn't a perfect world after all.

Koda glanced toward Iris and Yakira when she heard them speaking, "Your wandering is doing no harm to anyone but yourself, Yakira. If you cared to reverse the first impression you gave you should have started helping the girls clear when you saw the entrance was blocked, rather then wandering aimlessly!" She said shooting Iris a glare that suggestive of 'it's too early in the morning for this...'
The cave darkened momentarily as one of the girls clearing squeezed though the small gap to start clearing from the other side. Koda turned and headed toward the small hole herself, wanting to scout a bit before the others had finished breaking camp. She announced her intent to the group, and excused herself before turning back to Yarkira. Her voice was barely above a whisper, "The girls are busy now, they won't notice if you follow me out. And unless you're going to do something incredible before I return then I suggest you do. I don't intend to have my girls work harder over a self absorbed coward."

A self absorbed coward? Yakira’s eyes slightly narrowed and she shook her head. She didn’t want to leave that impression behind! Actually the harpy had noticed the others starting to work on the pile of snow and was about to help…her gaze met Koda’s and it was not anger in her eyes but a small hint of regret and maybe even embarrassment. “I was actually about to go give some help, but was slowed down by the possibility that I could just be in the way rather than a help.” Stupid of me, I know...
Yakira nodded to Koda, “If it’s okay, this 'self absorbed coward' wants to see if she can actually help clear some snow. I was allowed shelter here last night and didn‘t intend to be useless in return.” She gave a slight bow and walked to another side where the snow was still the highest. There she started to help push away the snow that blocked the entrance.

Iris hmphed dissapprovingly at Yakira, but subsided at Koda's glare, leaving the rogue for the future matriarch to deal with as she so chose. There was, after all, work to be done, and as much as the other irritated her, there wasn't enough time to sit around and watch Koda lecture her. So once she had finished gathering her berries, Iris would move to help supervise and organize the clearing of the cave in Koda's absence, even digging into the cold snow with her own claws to break loose some of the ice.

"Tell whatever stories you want you want. Unless I hear a song being sung in your honor when I return such obvious lies are akin to hunting clouds," it wasn't Koda's words but her calm demeanour as she left that made Liadan wince. She understood Koda was only trying to look out for her colony, but did she really have to be so harsh?
With the daughter gone, the group turned to Iris as the leader. Technically, both males held higher rank then even Koda... but no male would lead if he could avoid it. Leadership was too feminine.

Faria had slept pretty well that night and had woken up early to help break camp. She didn't mind the briskness of working in the snow. It made her feel awake and refreshed. The entrance was getting cleared fairly quickly with several females working together. The black and green harpy had picked up on bits of the conversation, but chose to put it from her mind and concentrate of the task at hand.

And true to the idea of avoiding leadership, Makani kept himself well out of the way of the females and their arguments. Whatever this newcomer had done to warrant the scorn of both Koda and Iris was not something he wanted a part of. That pair was too much trouble to be on the wrong side of, and Iris still owed him a necklace or two. Besides, they probably had good reason. Neither of them was particularly scornful. They'd been perfectly pleasant to Faria. It was best just to stand back and let things work themselves out. If Kitrio was smart, he'd do well to do the same.

Closing her eyes, Yakira ignored the bitter sting of the snow and with all of her strength continued to push the snow back and clear the side of the entrance that she was working on. After a while the white harpy had helped clear over half of the entrance. ‘Not…that…hard.’ She silently breathed to keep herself from collapsing. But really she felt somewhat more energized from the hard work. It’d been a long time since she’d worked with others for the same goal.
Yakira knew that it wouldn’t be much longer until the whole entrance was cleared and with a slight grumble coming from her stomach, the harpy suddenly thought of the other harpies who had worked on the entrance as well. Wouldn’t they be somewhat hungry after this task? Her talons clicked against the cavern floor, I haven’t hunted in a couple of days…this would be the best time to fix that? Hopefully…
Her mind finally made up, Yakira slowly approached Iris since it seemed that she was the one in charge when Koda left. Her heart thudded against her chest, but the harpy kept a steady gaze, “Iris…” She swallowed and looked to the bright harpy, “Is there anything else I could do? I could go out and hunt for something for the others to eat…small prey or such? Just let me do something that would be of help!” For the first time her eyes pleaded with Iris, ‘give me a chance.’ “I could continue to finish clearing the snow out and then go hunt or something…but all of the snow is about cleared away, so I could go hunt and bring back prey for someone or I could even try…to cook so everyone can have something to eat when this is over with.”

"You're welcome to go out and find food for yourself," Iris remarked cooly, continuing with her own digging. "But the rest of us have already eaten, and will be doing so again when we reach the colony. You might want to, in fact, as that Koda has already said you won't be coming with us." Iris did not have the authority nor the desire to override Koda's command in that particular matter. She had already suffered her fair share of insults from the other female, and was not inclined to let them pass.
The brightly plumed harpy did not even turn her gaze towards those pleading eyes. She was busy, and Yakira was more an annoyance than a cause for concern. If she wanted to stay so badly, perhaps she should not have insulted those with whom she wished to shelter. Trying to lure a male away was not a good way to engraciate oneself to a colony. Insulting the colony while doing so was even worse. Add on to that an insult to one of the higher ranking females, and, well, there wasn't much chance the rogue avian was going to find sympathy here.
