They aren't running out of character variations. It's just that
they are running out of character personalities. It's basically
the same storyline with every anime/game.
Hyper character goes on adventure.
Turns out a friend is actually an enemy.
Lot's of pointless naming skills are used.
Tons of fights.
It all ends in a rather idiotic way.
[Insert ditzy character love interest wherever it fits]
Points of reference: Kingdom Hearts, Naruto, DragonBall Z,
Sailor Moon
OR this could happen:
Emo/Boring character has something tragic happen [to a friend
or love interest]
Tries to avenge.
PLOT TWIST.
Ends in a satisfying, yet predictable manner.
See: Kingdom Hearts, .hack//IMOQ, .hack//Reb-Red.
The characters seem similar because they have similar faults
and personalities.

Kitkumi I know that Haseo is said to be Sora, but is there any proof of this? (if there is something in Vol. 3, then I'll get there, so don't tell me ^^. I just beat Vol. 2 today). But what my real question is... if Haseo is Sora, why is he so against PKing? Wasn't Sora a PKer himself? Lol.
I've noticed that the Terminal Disk also (even thought not directly) explains this.

Sora was comatose, therefore he has no memory of PKing.
However, indirectly, he is PKing by PKing PKers. He gets the
same amusing thrill, but in effect, helps people.
