Yeh, this is a great idea.

Just finshed the dvd box set of The Critic, a great show, that was cancled way before it's time.

Just saw Justice League: The New Frontier. I loved it! It was great to see Barry and Hal animated again. I really like Wonder Woman's attitude. Perfect for an amazon. Batman: Gotham Knight looks promising.. I can't wait to see it. I just wish I knew when the animated version of Teen Titans: Judas Contract is coming out.

I'm going to have to be the voice of dissent. I watched New Frontier and in fact didn't care for it overmuch. My problems can be summed up thusly:

Pacing.

The story was incredibly compressed and I think the bits they cut out and the things they moved around only served to hurt the movie. First of all, I understand they're trying ton convey at atmosphere of hopelessness and government Big Brother watchdogism. I know they're trying to make us feel for these hopeful superheroes who are now being treated as criminals. Except we never get to see anyone like them, ever. The closest you get is with Superman, where Flagg calls for him on the phone. This change in attitude towards the heroes is never shown, only the effects of the change, and they handled it poorly. Second, there was so much switching around that it was hard to care about the characters. There was no focus. Wonder Woman is your best friend, eh Superman? Too bad we only see one scene with the two of you, and you're fighting. If you hadn't told me you actually liked her, I wouldn't have believed it. You could have fixed this by keeping the scene where Supes visits her on the island, but instead we got the sword fight on the beach. Bad editing call.
You couldn't have had just the tiniest prologue, to show that at one point people actually LIKED superheroes? What about the one line you cut out of the government's confrontation with the Flash, the one that showed the people liked him even if the government didn't? I realize it would have been impossible to keep the story of Dinosaur Island in, but Wonder Woman getting pushed aside by the government would have done a LOT to help explain her character. It would make her more likable and three-dimensional, and it would have made the Government v. Superheroes angle better (instead of the 2-dimentional Flagg v. Superheroes that we got).

The animation was very nice. Not spectacular nice, but very nice indeed. I do think it suffered a little from trying to take panels that worked really well in the comics and making them go into the film (mostly because they'd pause on them just a little too long, as if they really wanted you to realize it came right form the comic). Honestly, this should have been a miniseries. They would have been able to push for it so easily, and animation in a series is huge right now. Cartoon Network would have bought a 6-8 episode mini aimed directly at a slightly older teen audience. Hell, Sci-Fi probably would have gone for it. It's booming business if you know what you're doing, and the Warner animation department isn't full of the same idiots as DC editorial.
I give it 3 out of 5 stars. It's worth seeing if superheroes are your thing, but I wouldn't nominate it for any awards.

On New Frontier: I never read it but I enjoyed the movie very much.

On Iron Man: Not a hug fan of the character but the trailers have me very interested.

Ahh, a Young Justice animated series would be amazing.
I want to see New Frontier, but I guess I'll have to wait...
