Belwen smiled glancing over as they walked, "I do love the company, I am finding it is rather enjoyable. So if you would be so gracious I shall have to steal it away at least for the trip to the rest of the class." She chuckled faintly and gave a small wink showing that at least some of the over spoken pleasantries weren't actually just banter.
Inching over some as he reached out to rest a hand against her back she walked somewhat closer as she responded, "hmm, if you are really concerned about your talents I'm sure we could do some research into what they are." She continued to smile the corners of her mouth twitching slightly as if she was well aware of the suggestiveness of that statement.
"Sadly as for music I have no idea, I might. So I'm hoping this class will tell me. But even if I sound like a dying cat it is worth trying at least once. Though if I do really sound like a dying cat I'm sure others will not agree with me on that." Moving her arm slightly she nudges Khamsyn, "but you must tell me if I am really that horrible. So I can save myself from embarrassment later on." She moved along looking ahead, "I think the door to the class isn't much further, would you like to sit next to me during class?"

Khamsyn raised an eyebrow at Belwen's offer to help hims research where his talents may lie. His mind was suddenly flooded with images ranging from the mundane to the scandalous. His mind lingered a little longer on the scandalous ones. Perhaps too long because he started to feel that ever so familiar warmth to his cheeks, the nye-perpetual blush Belwen inflicts upon him regularly. He turned his head slightly in a vain attempt to hide the redness of face. "Well, if my memory of the class schedule is at all correct, we do have a free period coming up." he remarked shyly, just letting the comment hang there between them without further explaination. At least not yet.
"Alright, I'll promise to tell you if you sound like a dying cat as long as you promise not to laugh should I try to sing or play something. Or at least try not to laugh." Pausing, he held his hand out as if to shake on the agreement. "And yes, I'd love to sit beside you in class." is what he said when he was really thinking "Or you could sit on my lap instead."

Cypress was on her way to class when she noticed Cyphr also in the same hall. Slinging her satchel across her body from shoulder to hip, she trotted happily until she had just about caught up to him. She hadn't really spoken to him much since the Sushi Party, but she was excited to finally have a friend in class. Of course, she really should make more friends, and she hoped to do that, and Music class seemed a great opportunity, as it would me more hands-on than science.
Heya Cyphr! she beamed happily, her only actual friend so far. She radiated energy, and was super excited about Music class. Betcha Phraine will have a blast with this class huh? she asked, wondering if Hybrids were actually able to be released in class. Well, it didn't really matter, as Cyphr was so good at mimicking them that Phraine could mimick Cyphr mimicking the instruments. Cypress blinked; that was too much mimicking! She couldn't wait until she got her own Hybrid; someone to hang out with and have fun with. Oh, it would be such fun!
((figured we could RP Cyphr giving her the hybrid instead of it just randomly appearing somewhere . . . if you'd like, that is ^-^ ))

Nehna floated into the room, literally. She wore her hoverpack on her back and it hummed away happily as it propelled her along. For those that have never seen Nehna, they might be distracted by the shimmering and graceful mertail trailing from underneath her billowing chiffon skirt. She propelled herself towards the front of the class and gazed appreciatively at the tall stainedglass windows that looked into a small garden area in the neighbouring hallway. She folded her hands in front of her and addressed the class in an equally flowing and soft voice. There was a magical quality when Nehna spoke, as though each word filled the air with a fragrant perfume, a beam of sunshine, a breath of fresh air. After only a sentance or two, the room's atmosphere felt light and relaxed. "Greetings class, I am Professora Nehna. In this lesson you will be learning Music, and the way if can be applied to Empyrean Life. Many of the other classes address the senses of sight or touch, smell or taste... Here you will learn to hear, and to feel what you hear. Music is not just about entertainment, it is a form of healing, a powerful ability to affect emotions and thoughts, and above all to express. It is because of this soul-connecting quality of music that it can be a powerful tool in the casting of magic." Nehna paused and smiled over the class. "Now then... what sorts of sounds are you drawn to? Instruments or notes? Genres of music or lyrics? Different types of musics affect us differently and can tell us a lot about how we relate to the world and what we need from sound. Who wants to go first?" And she gazed expectantly around at the young faces with a kindly smile on her cherub-like face.

Cyphr started and turned as he heard Cypress' voice. Immediately a happy grin lit up his chubby face and he scuffed his toe into the floor. "Heya Cypree..." Cyphr greeted her bashfully, blushing a little at the ears. "Yah, Music should be neat... I dunno if I'mma 'llowed to let Phraine out, but maybe if I hide him under the table and he listens real quiet it might be okay?" Cyphr held out a chair for Cypress with an awkward boy-charm and then sat himself. It was then that their professora entered. Cyphr grinned watching her float and nudged Cypress in the elbow. "Hey, hey, imagine having to float everyplace? It'd be like in a dream, eh?" But when Nehna started talking, Cyphr grew less fidgetty, and finally he leaned back calmly in his chair, head held high, eyes bright and smiling still. He felt...really good. Just, content. Maybe this class wasn't going to be boring afterall... And the teacher was asking a question about what sounds they liked... Cyphr stuck his hand up immediately, always a volunteer. Normally he'd be bouncing in his seat, shooting his hand into the sky, but he felt...not lethargic, but calm, and simply raising it seemed sufficient somehow. "I really like rhythm." Cyphr offered grinning. And then he beatboxed a couple of beats, ending with a well-simulated 'ting' of a triangle. "Whassat say about me?"

Eve had been certain the class would hold no interest to her. Music seemed too deep and...well, deep for her to maintain concentration, or at least, anything more than an appreciative listen in passing. Taking a seat near the front of the class (as she truly enjoyed being up close and personal with just about everything she did), she leaned her weight back and gazed skybound at nothing in particular for a while. She had found that if she stared at nothing and just thought, sometimes she wouldn't be as anxious or busy.
In fact, it was working too well. She found herself languishing in her seated position, only rousing herself from a blanket-warm comfort when she realized that it wasn't the staring calming her wild mind: it was someone's voice. Eve sat upright quickly, nearly knocking herself over in the process, candy tangerine eyes wide and thoughtful as they poured over the soft and glamorous looking Professora. "Nehna," she repeated to herself, thinking it sounded musical in its own right.
Lacing her dark fingers through her creme hair, she leaned forward to listen and consider the question posed. What drew her? Eve decided she preferred music over words, because music was something she could move and give herself too, where as lyrics could be a bit of a bore. Instruments could be interesting if they weren't too difficult, but notes? And what was this about rhythm? She genuinely wasn't sure, retaining her silence for the time being, curious eyes flitting around the class.

Belwen held Khamsyn's hand and moved over to pair of seats that were set in the middle. She liked being in the middle and having possible contact with everyone around her. She took her notebook out and a pen before leaning over to rest against Khamsyn she decided she would move if she needed to during the class.
Nehna entered the room and Belwen's eyes opened somewhat wide, smiling she watched her head to the head of the class room. Speaking softly to Khamsyn as she watched the professor, "she's very pretty...and she sounds pretty." Belwen added the latter as she was pulled into what the teacher was saying, smiling softly and glancing around at the others in the room.
Belwen chuckled slightly glancing over at Cyphr and then looked up at the teacher adding in after he had finished, "I really like dancing so I suppose I like rhythm as well but I also love some of the more complicated melodies I've heard some of the musicians play." As was very true to her nature Belwen just liked music all aspects that she could experiance. Nadyrr had moved along quietly to the class, glancing around he found a comfortable seat close to the back that he could sit in but also get a good look at the teacher. Looking around he caught sight of Yalitza and motioned her over to sit by him. It'd be nice to have her company if she wanted to offer it.
Nadyrr watched Nehna enter the class as well somewhat curiously his eyes shifting more to the pack on her back then the professor. Once he studied her he decided she was just as lovely as the other professors he had met. Her voice caused him to pause and almost sooth him as well, resting back in his chair he listened to the others respond before piping up himself, "I prefer softer sounds...more calming music."

As Nehna floated into the room, Morrow blinked, staring for a minute or two at the shifting colors and shades beneath that skirt. Oh ... wow. That was very pretty... he wondered for a moment why he had never seen Nehna before, then dismissed the question in favor of simply watching her. Eyes flicking around the room just for a moment, he frowned slightly... where was Dariyn? Hm... well, maybe he was just late. Morrow hoped he got here soon, though. So he could see this too.
So absorbed was he in watching Nehna that Morrow very nearly missed that first question. Frowning slightly, he thought for a minute or two. He hadn't heard much music, to be honest. Except for ... "I'm not sure if it counts, but when I'm painting I listen to things that easily fade into the background, but they're still soothing." Scurrying back toward the classroom, Emrys squeaked softly as he nearly tripped over his own feet - catching himself just in time and leaning against the wall for a minute, panting. He didn't want to miss the first of class! As it was, he caught sight of Nehna gliding along the hall from the opposite direction and managed to slip in the door just behind her and take a seat near Arron.
He'd brought along his flute and lyre, tucked carefully under an arm and now set them down beside his desk to pull out notebook and pen. Hearing the question, he glanced up and thought for a moment, head tilted. "I ... it's so difficult to choose any one type of music," he murmured finally. "From what I have heard so far, there is something to enjoy in everything."

Khamsyn blushed a little as Belwen took his hand, it was warm and soft. In short, it was great, and that is also how he felt. His blush intensitfied as she leaned on him. He opened his satchel and put out his few school supplies with one hand, placing his open notebook and quill at the ready, while he gentle caressed Belwen's hair and the back of her neck with the other. He barely realized he was doing it, it was just instinct. A contentness settled over him, and he embraced it.
As their Professora entered, Khamsyn was spellbound. He hadn't really been looking forward to this class, not dreading it either, but now with the appearance on their teacher, he felt more calm and accepting of it. He nodded as Belwen commented upon Nehna's beauty. "Yes, she is." he replied before hearing her melodious voice for the first time, "And yes, she does." As Nehna spoke, Khamsyn listened intently, learned what they were all to expect from the class.
"Well, I never really thought about what types of music I enjoy most. I suppose it's mainly wind and string instruments." he responded in answer to thier Professora's querry. "As for pace of music, it really depends on my mood I guess."

Cypress giggled quietly as Cyphr pulled a chair out for her and she sat down rather gracefully in it, skirt swaying around her legs as she moved. In a fluid motion, her satchel slipped off her shoulder and landed with a soft thud on the floor. However, she didn't pull out a quill or any parchment. She figured this class would be more about listening than writing.
As Professora Nehna floated in, Cypress' attention was caught as was the rest of her class. Her gown was beautiful and the shifting colors of her tail was like the inside of a shell; iridescent, almost. Yes . . . a dream indeed she whispered back to Cyphr, a bit distracted. Cypress closed her eyes and leaned back into her chair, listening not to just what the professora said, but how she said it; how she could command the attention of the entire class without even raising her lyrical voice. A slight smile found its way on to her face and her eyes remained closed until Nehna mentioned music being used when casting magic. That was possible? Cursing her lack of education thus far, Cypress sat up a bit straighter in her seat, glancing over at Cyphr to see if he was bored. Instead, he was volunteering, and not bouncing as she had expected he would. Not sure whether this was a good thing or not, she waited a while before adding her own opinion.
I like complex music she said with a pause, trying to figure out how to word it. Like, stuff with different layers. Not necessarily harmony, but stuff that you can hear something new, some new layer, every time you listen to the song. But it doesn't sound complex when you listen to it; it sounds really simple she said, not sure she was expressing herself well at all. She glanced around the class, eyes resting on Professora Nehna once again, waiting for the next bit of information or question while listening to everyone else's responses.

Nehna nodded, calmly and kindly as the various students piped up with as many different tastes in music as there were students. "This illustrates it perfectly," Nehna beamed gently at them. "Different people are attracted to different types of music because of the effect they wish to get out of it - even subconsciously. An upbeat tempo, with lots of rhythm or harsh sounds is stimulating, maknig the blood pump faster, awakening more primal emotions and instincts and quieting more complex thought. More mathematically complex music, with more layers, as you put it," here she paused and indicated Cypress with a soft hand, "like orchestral pieces that utilize measured time and harmonies invoke more cerebral thought, heightening learning curve and stimulating a claming, introspective air." Nehna paused here and smiled warmly towards everyone in the room. Then she adjusted the level at which she was hovering to be at a less neck-craning angle and waved her little scepter to summon some magics and release a few instruments. Rather than falling to the floor, however, they floated gracefully in the air alongside her and prepped themselves to be played, a few warm up notes and tuning all on their own as if they were played by invisible musicians. "Now then, different instruments themselves have very specific applications. Here we have a Violin, to represent the Strings, An Oboe to represent the Woodwinds, An african skin drum to represent the rhythm, and a trumpet to represent the Brass. There are other types as well, of course, like voice and llamophones, but we'll start with these more familiar types. Which would you like to hear first?" The Violin turns itself about primly, as if rotating on display, the oboe sank a little, as though it was too shy to go first, the skin drum remained motionless, as though it was not concerned either way, and the trumpet let off a shrill note of excitement. Nehna smiled and then glanced towards the class expectantly.

Abacus wished he didn't pick a seat in the front. Of course it gave him a good view, but right now he wished he had instead chosen a seat in the back, or at least towards the back with no one in front of him. This was all new territory for him. He didn't think much of music, and in fact it never occurred to him to pay attention to it before. Why stop and listen when the answers were held in speech and action? He pair more attention to his eyes than his ears, and now he was beginning to regret it.
The photographer held his silence, studying the professor and the instruments she summoned with keen interest. Perhaps if he looked attentive, he could avoid being called on and made to talk about an area he knew little about.

Yalitza glances around just as class began, deciding that she would take a seat next to Nadyrr. With a smile to him, she pulls out her notebook then quill before she gets comfortable. Her eyes glancing over the different instruments before she looks back down at her notes quickly noting what each does.
*Violin represent the Strings *Oboe represent the Woodwinds *African skin drum represent the rhythm *Trumpet represent the Brass
Looking back up, Yalitza pauses before she lifts her hand into the air "Professora, could we hear the Oboe please?" leaning slightly forward, she glances out of the corner of her eye towards Nadyrr. She wanted to make sure she took good notes just in case he might need to borrow them later. Not that she would mind at all, it would give them a good reason to study together.

Cypress was hardly sitting in her seat, so excited she was. This was her first real experience with magic; oh the things it could do! She couldn't wait until she could pull instruments out of thin air, and other things! Still neglecting her notes, she looked at each instrument in turn. The buttons and valves on the oboe fascinated her, yet the violin glistened and seemed to hold so many secrets inside those patterned sides. The trumpet was a little loud, and the drum looked rather exotic. As the oboe had already been asked for, she voiced her opinion. And then the violin, Professora? she asked, finally noticing Yalitza taking notes. Maybe she should too . . . Reluctantly, she pulled her notebook, ink, and quill out, and started sketching the instruments, penning their names next to them.

Daggart, not surprisingly, was late. Not too terribly late, but late nonetheless. Sliding into the room with an attempt at minimal noise only to stumble as his big boots caught on the flooring, the choleric accidentally hip checked a seat. Feeling foolish, he immediately righted the chair and sat in it, glancing around in the hopes that he hadn't made a spectacle of himself.
Up at the front, Nehna was saying something about instruments... and floating! He blinked and peered again, spotting the jet pack with some amusement. It seemed liked a particularly interesting way to get around. What would he like to hear...? Thinking back to his tutoring lesson with Lelaus, he smiled and waved his hand, "The drums please! I'd like to hear the drums." Nodding, he sat back as others voiced their preferences. Seemed like they'd hear all four at this rate!
