I'm sincerely hoping that it's someone from the inside that we just haven't 'seen' before in this capacity. If this new guy isn't familiar with the culture and inner workings of this website, they're going to make some VERY poor decisions. Gaia is only a business in the sense that it needs to keep running, and it needs money for that.

I went through his post history too. Maybe he just does not have time to post. Although I'm wondering why his name is still under 'Gaia staff'...Isn't it supposed to be Admin or something?

I certainly hope they have time to lurk then. Gaia is a constantly moving/changing/mutating culture, and if they don't keep up with it, bad s**t's gonna go down.
CEO=/=Admin, IMO
Admin implies them having a hand in monitoring the site itself, CEO implies 'backstage' work. (ie Disney animator vs. someone in a Goofy Suit)
I could very well be wrong, but if that theory is correct, my worries about them being disconnected with the users could be all too real. I don't want this place to become some soul-less corporate entity (like Disney...however, I'm a big Disney fan, so that might make me a hypocrite. In my defense, Disney became soul-less long LONG before I got here. Walt was a staunch capitalist before anything else. But I digress.)

I'm a little confused in all this now. So where does Lanzer fit into this? Has he sold it, to these guys, and now he's gone? Or is he still around, but keeping low key? What does he do now, while others are looking after Gaia?
A lot of people are worried that it may turn something like facebook. I've never been to facebook, and probably won't, but it appears that many people do dislike it, and worry in case Gaia sells to them. That would be devastating for the Gaian community. gonk

I have no idea what role Lanzer fills right now. Figurehead? Mascot? blah
I'm alright with facebook. I can keep in contact with family and friends, and plan parties. facebook and Gaia are two COMPLETELY different things, though. (ie fb=social network, gaia=forums) Although both have content that crosses over, they will never be the same thing. Attempting to replicate what facebook has done would not be a good idea.

I don't know either. Although if Lanzer ever does decide to no longer have anything to do with Gaia, that too would probably devastate most of Gaia, because as you can plainly see, it's him they want at the AtA, and they're so used to him being in charge, that they probably wouldn't let go of that idea.
I don't know much about Facebook, so I can't comment on what the difference is, between Gaia at it. But I do know that many people over here, talk about it quite a lot.

Pistolera: This is a rapid evolver, so it'll add a pose each Tuesday and Friday. It started with two poses: A low-slung Inventory Bag and a C-Class gun you can hold. Today's update adds a Quest Available icon above your avatar's head. I like the way this story is going so far; unfortunately, I think I'll still be hungry for more poses and more plot when it is finished (which has been the case with all of the Rapids so far).
Secret Retreat: The mirror's image reflects red and black instead of blue and gold! This explains the appearance of the second color of pillows in the previous evolution. The new poses are Hair de Morte, Possessed Eyes, Fallen Wine, Red Babydoll, Red Babydoll Panties, Secret Essence, and the aforementioned Mirror. I really like the mirror. The rest of the poses don't interest me much this time. I don't enjoy skimpily-clad avatars. However, Gaia's new trick seems to be making pants that don't cover up our underwear gonk , so I foresee that I'll have to use this item's underwear poses a lot. stare

muumuupie replaces fin as CEO. Lanzer is still at Gaia; I am not sure he was ever CEO. Lanzer was previously in charge of creative direction of Gaia; however, I am not sure that is the case any longer. Lanzer, L0cke, VO, and Ling will always be beloved, as they are the originators of Gaia. heart
I hope muumuupie will be a bit more open with Gaians about proposed changes than fin has been lately. I also hope he updates his avatar. Dude, it's an avatar website! People in starter clothes don't get taken that seriously. xd

I'm pretty sure Lanzer is like what Bill Gates is to Microsoft. As long as the new CEO isn't a corporate monkey like Steve Ballmer, Gaia will do fine.
What gets to me is that Craig Sherman will be part of the Gaia board. Not sure why he's still hanging around. It didn't seem like he had much to offer for Gaia.
