"I was too busy training and studying to entertain myself," Lin protested, "And even when I was in the Borderlands I had lessons, how else did I manage to learn two languages in the span of roughly four years? Well... four if you included Japanese and Chinese..."
She tried to think, like really, really think.
"Or just being all around curious," she added remembering some of the things she had done as a child, "I mean... I played by myself when I was little, but I hadn't done that since I was a Surprise."
She paused and then amended.
"Or like I did for the first four months of my life and then began studying and training, and wanting to know how this or that worked... I mean I didn't always work... except when I visited you.. or visited Raven... or Quinton or anyone.... Well I stopped studying of course long before we first sailed, but I was working."
Yes, if Lin did not have friends, she would have no social life.

"You really need to find something to do," Earendil chuckled. "Anything. Writing, drawing, observing ... something! Maybe you should see if there's something in the city, some vocation you'd like to try your hand at. I don't know. But honestly ... something!"
He tried to stifle his laughter, but it was hard. With all that Lin liked to do, with how she ran in circles going from one thing to the next, from one world to the next, she had nothing she liked to do just to relax? Waste away a sunny afternoon?

Lin pouted at him, "You're laughing at me...."
She had just been too busy to spend time doing whatever, so of course she had never tried before. Especially not after she began to raise Miyuki.

Earendil chuckled, his eyes sparkling with laughter. "I'm sorry," he laughed, "I really don't mean to ... but when I think about the endless hours I had to myself ... no one to spend time with ... duties complete, education complete ... and how I filled those hours ... I suppose it just amuses me, to think that you, given the same opportunity, have nothing to do. I mean ... nothing?"
Somehow he just couldn't believe it.
"Maybe you could learn more about the rocs or something?" he suggested. "That's something I personally would love to do if I get free time."

"Maybe...." Lin mused.
The rocs were interesting, and she didn't know much about them. Which reminded her that she hadn't flown for a long time now, there hadn't ever been a need to.
Maybe... that's what she would do? Just for a short while.

Earendil smiled. "See? If you look around you and let your curiosity take over, there's always things for you to do."
He looked around them then, and looked back at Lin. "We should probably head to bed as well, soon," he murmured. "Tomorrow is going to be a long day for both of us."

It was getting late, even though Lin would have liked to remain out a bit longer she knew this to be true. It would be another full day, and even though she didn't have to work like Earendil did, she would still have her hands somewhat full.
"Yea... we better head back, Miyuki will be up early," she chuckled.

"Which means that so will we," Earendil grinned. "Though I suppose that's probably a good thing. The earlier we start, the sooner we're finished, yes?"
They turned back and headed once more towards their rooms.

"True," Lin couldn't disagree with that, "At least you won't have to worry about Miyuki getting into the hallway without anyone the doors are too heavy for her."
Like the ones in the Southland Palace, Miyuki couldn't open them as easily.

"Ah, so I don't have to worry so much about being awake before she comes," Earendil chuckled, his face growing slightly warm. Even now, a month after the incident, he still felt a bit awkward about that day when Miyuki had pulled his sheet off him while he'd been sleeping.

Lin nodded giggling, "In the Southland she was pouting up at the door when I woke up. It was obvious she tried really hard to get that door open."
Alas though, Miyuki was too small to do so, though Lin doubted that would be the case for very long.

"Well I'm sure she'll be growing before we're ready for it," Earendil murmured, smiling softly. "Then she'll be opening all the doors she wants to."
On the bright side, it wasn't as if he and Lin were married, or shared a room or anything, so at the moment she really couldn't do much harm even if she could open doors. Unless she went somewhere other than his room, but he had a feeling that wouldn't happen, not while she was this clingy to him.

It was already hard to imagine Miyuki was as old as she was now. At least that's what it felt like to Lin. Soon they were nearing their rooms
"Here we are..." Lin was admittedly tired, the day was finally catching up to her.

Earendil chuckled and led Lin to the door of her bedroom. "Shall I carry you in?" he teased her, tapping her lightly on the tip of her nose. "You seem very tired."
He wasn't quite ready for bed, but he knew he should at least try to sleep

"It's been a very long day," Lin replied twitching her nose, "So I think I'm ready for a good night now."
She had to admit, she didn't think she would be tired, but it seemed she was proven wrong.
"And you should too."
