Good luck with everything, RaiRai!
I had a doctor's appointment yesterday. We heard the heartbeat which was nice. I talked to the doctor about all of the headaches I've been getting which there's really not a whole lot I can do about them. The best part was that I am scheduled for my big ultrasound at my next appointment-August 28.

crying
Had my membranes 'sweeped' today. I didn't know what was going on until AFTER he'd stuck his fingers there and then pulled his hand back out covered in blood. If labor doesn't come along by next week, I'm scheduled for Pitocin on the 10th.

Only thing I will say bad about my doctor is that no matter how much I trust his decisions and judgments for my treatment, he's not very good at explaining what he's doing and why.
sweatdrop
I was a little emotional in the doctors office, so I just wanted to get out of there. But I had to get my husband to help me with the clean-up. I mean, he squirms at the very thought of period blood, so to have him kneeling down to mop me up was a little embarrassing for me, although he was so sweet about it that it actually made me tearful.
Read up about it online, apparently:
A membrane sweep increases the likelihood that labour will start within 48 hours.
Has anyone else had this done before? Did you start labor within 48 hours?

Has anyone else had this done before? Did you start labor within 48 hours? I had that done with my oldest. My doctor didnt tell me what she was doing. She said she needed to check me then i felt alotta pain and saw her hand full of blood and freaked. Only then did she tell me what she did. IF shed asked i would have said no stressed But anywho i had it done on friday morning and had HORRID cramps then saturday at like midnight my water broke, but my contractions stopped so i ended up having to be induced at the hospital that night anyways xd From what ive seen and heard from my friends that have had it done honestly sometimes it just doesnt work. But again this is just my experience not medical fact it can take as much as 4 days. Hope it helps some and good luck!

I would make it a point to ask him a lot of questions as he's doing whatever he is and make it clear you want and need to know. I had midwives with Ethan, and they were very good about making sure I understood what they were doing and why. I don't recall their ever doing something without making sure I understood first. They still do membrane stripping? eek Eep.

Had an appointment today. They did the gestational diabetes test. They gave me a lemon lime flavored drink instead of the orange and it went down a lot easier. The baby's heartbeat was a bit erratic, between 136 and 151. My CNM didn't seem concerned so I guess everything is okay! We'll see when the bloodwork comes back how that turns out! I start going every two weeks now. Man this pregnancy is going fast. I have almost nothing ready!
Hope all is well with all the other pregnant ladies here!! Good luck with evrything RaiRai! heart
