Mai-lin laughed as Himi jumped at her. "And Himi-chan too." She quickly stood up. "Are you ok? Do you need anything?" She asked, wanting to help as much as she could, still feeling like it was her fault he was like this. Despite Konohamaru's words that it wasn't.

The medicine he was given started kicking in and he was growing drowsy. "No thank you. I'm set for now." He drank more of his soda and ate one of the cake things that was on the tray. "These are good. Have you tried them yet?"

Mai-lin shook her head as she sat down on the bed so she was facing him. She pulled her legs up and wrapped her arms around them, reasting her chin on her knees. "I'm sorry, Kei...." She muttered outloud at the moment she thought it. She cast her eyes down and sighed.

He had been about to start on his second cake but stopped when Mai-lin spoke. "Sorry for what?" Kei asked with a frown, then set the cake aside and sighed. "Will you stop blaming yourself for what happened? Neither one of us could have done anything to stop that guy. As you said yourself, he's an S-Ranked criminal who's far stronger and smarter than either of us. If I have to stop worrying about it, then so do you."

Mai-lin frowned. "But, Kei...If I hadn't been stupid enough to be there alone then it wouldn't have happened. You almost died cause I was being stupid." SHe looked at him stubronly. Her eyes saying. 'You can't say anything cause I'm right.

Kei sighed and shook his head. "I don't think where you were made a difference. I think he was after you so he would have attacked had you been elsewhere. If you weren't waiting for me at my house, I wouldn't have been able to save you."

"But that's just it! If I had been somewhere else then you'd be okay! It's cause you saved me that you got hurt." She crossed her arms, "And since I'm older then you I should be watching out for you. Making sure you don't get hurt."

"I give up." Kei said and flopped back against his pillows. "As soon as I'm able to, I'm getting out of here then we're both going to train hard. I thought I already was training to my fullest, but after fighting that guy, I guess I was wrong."

Mai-lin moved so she was laying down next to him, facing him. "You know, you could be training to your fullest. Each little bit of hard training makes you stronger so...." She just trailed off, trying her best to ignore the closeness between them.

"I promise." The Inuzuka said before noticing Kei's pink tint. She giggled and reached over to pet his hair quickly. "You're so cute, Pei-kun!" She said, smiling, a small tint to her cheeks also.

That caused his cheeks to turn a shade brighter. "You're lucky I'm not like my bother..." was the only thing that he could say. He felt something against his legs and looked down to see Himi trying to squeeze between the two of them.

Himi managed to squeeze herself into the are between them and barked, no longer wanting to see the two of them together without her somewhere in there. She barked again and gave them each a lick n the lace, making Mai-lin laugh.
Mai-lin shook her head at Himi who just blinked big puppy eyes at her trainer, not seeing what made the girl laugh. "Thank you Himi-chan." She said as she laughed again, petting her dog.
