.[.pink.spider.]. soadshuyin Regarding that paragraph though, the entire scene, including Clouds return after two years are all because Cloud would do anything for Tifas affection. He would do anything to keep her safe. He couldnt care less about the other kids in town, it was her that kept him going. She was the reason for everything Cloud had done and would do. And you say it was never reciprocated, but it was never given a chance to be reciprocated. Cloud never pulled together enough guts to tell her anything until he called her out to the well randomly. After that and after Cloud left, Tifa began to develop feelings for Cloud which grew with time, even in his absence. To your final paragraph, its a yes and no situation. Cloud only wanted to be with TIFA. He didnt care at all for the other children in town, only for Tifa. He eventually fought everyone in town after he was ridiculed for trying to save the person he cared for most in the town. He couldnt give two shits about anyone in town but his mother and Tifa. To prove he only cared about Tifa, here is a line from Cloud himself in reference to the other children Tifa hung around: FFVII Kid Cloud: I used to think...they were all stupid. In closing, I find it sad that we have to read between the lines and trust fan-art for your pairing and then you write everything we say off as crap afterwards. Mind you that I used to be a ClAeris fan back in the day around when the game came out. I was damn fond of that pairing for several years. But then as I was playing through again, I was turned by a friend who pointed out the more subtle CloTi references that made a shitload more sense than the massive assumptions necessary for ClAeris. "She was the reason for everything Cloud had done and would do."
[hah he surely doesnt act that way. I see Cloud's concern for her but I dont see her as the motivating force in Cloud's life. I will compare this back to Aerith's death and when Tifa battles Loz. Again I will expand on that if you wish.]
Ok this would be your opinion wouldn't you say. Not once does cloud even show anything along these lines. If as you say he would do anything for tifa then why didnt he vow a promise or atleast accept it in a better fashion. He doesnt even remember the promise. He even thinks that tifa has been dead for five years. Now dont you think that if he loved her that would affect him more? wouldn't he care a whoole alot if his 'truue lurve' died. Yes he was sad but no where near as affectionate as you would be to someone you love. And you can see that major difference between aerith and tifa, in matters of where there lifes are on the line cloud reacts differently. if you'd like to go into that specifically I'd be glad to.
Ooookay......not much evidence to support this one. Cloud, when Tifa found him was in a mental wreck, carrying on the memories of Zack and later mixed in with the memories of Tifa. I really see no reason to say that Cloud forgot the promise when it wasn't his fault to begin with. Just to throw that out. Quote: And just how do we know that Cloud joined SOLDIER just to impress Tifa? "Hey, I barely know you, and you always ignored me, and I was blamed for you falling off Mt. Nibelheim, but I am leaving home to become a SOLDIER just to impress you!" Yeah, makes a lot of sense. *Sarcasm* Cloud says that he wants to be stronger so that he would be noticed. It is no secret that Cloud wanted Tifa to notice him. However, was she the only one? I highly doubt that. Cloud was blamed for her fall from the bridge. He was ashamed of his weakness, then, that he was unable to do anything to help Tifa. Don't you think that Cloud wanted to prove to everyone in town that he was strong? Don't you think he wanted to show all of them that he was no weakling, that he could be powerful and famous, and not just some loser who was ignored by Tifa as a child? The town's view of Cloud was damaged when he was blamed for Tifa's fall from the bridge. I think that Cloud wanted to show everyone, including Tifa, that he was strong-- to redeem himself, or prove himself, to them all. [very much like a naruto complex no?] You are missing the important part of the past. If Cloud only wanted Tifa to notice him, why would he put his own self in danger by following Tifa while all the boys chickened out? Cloud obviously had strong feelings for the little girl, enough to put himself in danger. Sure, he wanted to impress everyone, but Tifa was the one he wanted to impress primarily. -Lifestream event- "I wanted to be noticed." "But who, you, that's who!" He does not say, "Everyone in town". He said, only Tifa. *Sighs* Quote: As for Cloud joining AVALANCHE... Tifa asked Cloud to join AVALANCHE. He coldly refused. Tifa asked Cloud if he remembered the promise. He did not. In fact, she had to remind him of it.Tifa asked him to redeem his promise by helping AVALANCHE. He refused. In fact, Cloud only joined AVALANCHE when Barret agreed to pay him 2000 gil (more than the 1500 they initially agreed upon). Barret had to dip into Marlene's school money to pay Cloud. IF Cloud was so into Tifa, like you CloTis would have me believe, then he would have joined AVALANCHE when Tifa asked him to. IF Cloud was so into Tifa, he would have agreed to fulfill the promise when she asked him to. IF Cloud was so into Tifa, he would not have demanded 3000 gil, double what was initially agreed upon, to join AVALANCHE. IF Cloud was so into Tifa, he would not have forced Barret to take money away from Marlene's school funds to help out. When dealing with Tifa, Cloud became a cold mercenary, only interested in money. He demanded 3000 gil, but bargained with Barret, and finally accepted 2000. If Cloud was truly interested in helping Tifa, he would not have demanded to be paid for his services. Compare this with how Cloud behaves with Aerith. He readily agreed to be her bodyguard for one date. Not once did he asked to be paid. Cloud was cold to everyone in the beginning. Also, he wasn't himself to begin with. Cloud demanded the money from Barret, not Tifa. rolleyes Cloud agreed to stay BECAUSE of the promise. Please replay the game or read the script. Quote: So, not only does Cloud not remember the promise, he refuses to redeem it. Not only does Cloud refuse to help Tifa when she asks, he demands more money than he initially agreed upon. Not only does Cloud demand his money before aiding any of them, but he bluntly tells them that he cares nothing for their cause or the planet. Not only all of that, but Cloud is also very rude and cold toward Tifa, regardless of what optional dialogue you try to throw in. Cloud took off from the playground in Sector 6 to go to Elmyra's house and didn't say a word to Tifa or Barret about where he was going. He started to leave Elmyra's house to rescue Aerith without Tifa. In fact, Tifa had to ask to be included. Tifa: "Scary... huh." Cloud: "Too late to be saying that now. Why'd you come along anyway?" Sounds to me like Cloud didn't even care to have Tifa around. So, I don't really understand what CloTis see in these scenes that equals OMG TRU LURVE! rolleyes Good grief! "Cloud, the knight in shining armor comes to rescue his princess Aeris!" Seriously....Aeris is captured, and Cloud was assigned as her bodyguard, so he is basically bonded to her. Interpreting it right away as love is jumping to conclusions. (And this is right at the beginning of the game too. rolleyes ) He feels obligated to save Aeris. Tifa didn't have to get involved, but she did because Aeris had become a friend to her. Quote: and I'm sorry I posted fan art sheesh it just gets kinda dull posting words and words and its nice to look at things in different perspectives and art perspective is yet another way of looking at it and please tell me what doesnt make sense about cleris? I'd love to hear you saying that cloud did absoultely everything for tifa is what I would call an assumption so dont even start if you knew anything about cleris to even have called yourself a fan then how could you say its all assumptions if it was such not leginment couple then why do so many people like it huh? Tifa.
Hands down.
I really liked the couple after Tifa helped Cloud sort out his head in the Lifestream. Cloud admits to her a prime reason for trying to join SOLDIER is his inability to help her when she fell from Mt. Nibel. He was fond of her, and was ashamed that he couldn't help.
In AC, she's trying to give him a stable life after all the chaos. Not that Cleris isn't beautifully tragic, but tragedy can only take the lover who lived so far.
Tifa might be strong, but we all need someone to pick us up now and then.

Oh geez, my friend and I argue about this so much (my friend right above me actually lol).
I can't see how people claim they see absolutely nothing of a CloudxTifa pairing, as well as how people can see nothing of a CloudxAeris pairing. My personal choice, being a fan of the game, would be the CloudxAeris pairing.
I'm not a psycho CloudxAeris fan that completely puts down any reason for a CloudxTifa, I just like that pairing more.
Opposites can attract. Aeris likes the mystery that is Cloud, and Cloud admires her optomism, her kindness and her love of life. She's feminine (that's a lot of pink, even for me, and she just loves those flowers), and I'm not saying Tifa isn't any of these, but Tifa tends to be a little more sadder than Aeris, due to what she knows of Cloud.
Aeris is reminded of Zack a lot through Cloud; at first I think she sees more of Zack in Cloud than she sees of Cloud himself, but she knows that Cloud has a lot more depth in him than he lets to be known, and she grows to love him.
I also think this pairing makes the story all the more tragic with her death, and the reason I like this pairing is because it seems to follow through the whole Final Fantasy VII story...it gives Cloud a reason to continue his journey to save the planet, it gives him a reason to be afraid and hesitant and angsty in Advent Children.
I can definately see Coud admiring Tifa when they were children, but people change as they grow up, and they weren't close-knit friends to begin with. Throughout the course of the story, though, they finally gain their friendship, and I can see it developing into a romance, but I see that happening after the events of Advent Children, when Cloud accepts Aeris's death but knows she's never completely gone, that he's "not alone". Also, seeing Zack waiting for Aeris at the end of the movie, it shows the the two have moved on from each others romance, but they'll never forget one another.
As for CoudxYuffie...I find it funny that they're the least likely couple, yet she's the only one that can ever be seeing kissing him, ironic, no? After stealing the materia, I can see Cloud using that against her for the rest of their friendship, as well as having to rescue her afterwards. I see no basis for a romance between the two; I see them squabbling like brother and sister.
Okayyy, I did not expect to go on such a long rant lmao...sorry about that. But this is what I interpret from the game and the movie.

I think Cloud loves Tifa, but Zack loves Aeris- it's the part of him that's "Zack" that still loves Aeris. All the girls are cool characters, by the way. ^_^ I'm such a Yuffie fan.

Damn, people just gotta learn to chillax, man... Sh*t, this drink's making me chill, man... Coconut juice and Mixed Fruit cocktail... It's all good....
I'm way too lazy to read both very long paragraphs, and small assed print... And as of now, I'm sorta too lazy to even want to type this. But, I will....
You can say how you love a couple, why you think it works, but keep other pairings out of it. Don't say that a couple works just because the opposite couple can't... Like saying Cleris is the way to go because CloTi can't, or the other way around, 'cause it just brings out some hate...
If need be, I'll re-edit this, but, I'm just so lazy and chill right now, man...

the only thing that matters is, cloud and tifa DID get together. There's an "Unknown" scene between him and her before they all decide to go finish off Sephiroth, but we all know what really happened wink

Fayted Eclipse the only thing that matters is, cloud and tifa DID get together. There's an "Unknown" scene between him and her before they all decide to go finish off Sephiroth, but we all know what really happened wink I've actually read an article on rpgamer (long ago...) and they claim to have a screenshot of what "really" happened between Cloud and Tifa before the final battle. Apparently they did the "beast with two backs" if you know what I mean. I saw the screenshot...but don't know if it's actually legitimate. They seem to believe so. rpgamer said that it was a secret anime sequence in the third disc or something, but eh....
