Alex approached two of the group, a woman in a blue dress, and a woman with blue skin, and a very prominent nose. He nodded lightly, looking between them both with his slightly narrow eyes, "Good afternoon ladies. Would either of you know where I could find the Captain of this ship?"

~ hold ~

Myles hears the conversation and calls over the nearest common clank. It steps right over and says in its tinkly music box voice, "Yes, sir?"

"See that group of people there? Show them to the captain's cabin."

"Yes sir."

It steps over to the gathering, a clank that is just over six feet tall. It's much less sophisticated than the golden clank nearby. It is made of a dusky metal such as bronze or copper, and its limbs are thin. Its torso is detailed with designs that make it resemble a stylized suit vest.

It leans a bit to the handful of people and states, "The captain's chambers are this way." It then begins walking down the corridor, at an easily followable pace.

Alex stared momentarily at the large clockwork robot as it spoke, apparently knowing exactly what was going on. And then without question it had turned and continued down the corridor, expecting him to follow without question. He looked back at the two women, looking between the two of them for an answer before mouthing a silent 'thank you' even though they hadn't really done anything. He then turned and followed the clank, wearily, a few paces behind, down the corridor.

((I need to make a habit of posting more than once a day it seems! I've been left in the dust! haha
and sorry, "crispy" was my fault. It seemed appropriate, what with the explosion and all. I have a tendancy to use odd adjectives...))

[hold]

"I may be small, but I'm capable of handling myself." She responded to the man she was now looking up at. She didn't seem intimidated with his sudden hight. Everyone had always been taller than her in her previous jobs. She'd just have to show them what she was capable of.
She looked up mildly suprised when Alexandria rushed off, but didn't comment. She was glad she had only brough minimal possesions, and they all fit in her leather sidebag. Then again she only had minimal possesions, so it hadn't really been a choice.

When the clank came over to offer it's assistance to the captians cabin she waved to the interesting tall man and said,
"I'm Ava Gearwright. It was nice meeting you, but I better follow that clank now if I want a job. I'm sure I'll see you around!" She waved as she turned to follow at a brisk pace to catch up with the others.

(( actually, there is a girl in my bio class I call Chrispy...))

Alezandria looked at the newest clank to arrive. Who knew there were so many? She nodded to it as started to walk away, and gathered her things. Bag slung over her shoulder, and wooden box under her arm she followed the clank down the hall, behind the man who had just silently said something to them. (she's hopeless at lip reading).
"Ava?" Alexandria looked behind her for the smaller girl and almost tripped on a cable stretching across the floor, "How did you get into this buisness?"

"Gearwright.." yousha quietly spoke in a rhetorical tone. He raised an eyebrow as the young girl hurried past him to follow the clank. Her appearance, slightly similar to his as it was more 'practice over fashionable', which intrigued him.
The name, 'Gearwright' also stuck out in his head.. but he can't remember from what or where...
in a daze he almost forgot to respond
"huh, uh, aye, nae bother!" he called back to her.
he then turned his attention back to finagle
"am gonnae check me mess, a'll catch ye.." he turned and gave a hand signal which could be read as "bye" as he wandered off in his usual fashion back up to his now partially destroyed cabin..

[leaving the hold?]

Ava didn't notice the quiet bit of Yousha's parting words, as she was already too far away to hear them, and then she was distracted by Alexandria's question, for it was a troubling one.
She walked in silence studying the floor for a bit, it almost seemed she had forgotten to answer the question, but then she opened her mouth and spoke.
"My house burned down when I was ten." She began her voice quiet and calm. She seemed controlled and emotionaly well protected about it now, but her eyes were somewhere else, watching flames destroy her home, security, family, and everything she had ever known. "I was out on an errand, picking up parts for my father. He was a mechanic. I was never much good at fixing things, I broke them more often than not." She smiled reminescently, but her face swiftly shifted back into grim blankness as she continued. "That day I was out picking up a replacement engine for the long distance vapor plane I had crashed during a test run, and when I got back it was too late. I don't know what happened but I never saw my family again." She paused struggling to maintane her composure and then seemed to lock away all the memories again. "I needed to earn a living somehow, so I just did what I was good at, flying things, fast. I became a mail carrier and a competition racer. After a while I decided I was good enough that I could do more with myself, so here I am now." And I couldn't remain in that town anymore... she added silently to herself, but it sounded too ominous and depressing so she kept it to herself.

Alexandria looked at the girl quietly as they walked.
'perhaps it wasnt the best thing to ask..." she thought, trying to keep a look of pity from growing on her face. In the end it won.
"I'm sorry, Ava." she said quietly, shifting her weight to keep the box from digging into her hip again. She wasn't sure if she was supposed to keep talking or not.
"I....my father is an Engineer," she said softly, with a small smile, "If he knew I was here he would probably lock me up."

{hold//corridor}
Alex listened silently to the two behind him, being a bit farther up the corridor. He had to resist the urge to turn around and join in on a conversation that wasn't his to join in on. Though he could relate in some way to the feelings of having one's home destroyed. He straightened himself and ran a hand through his hair, readjusting his goggles once more with a faint dry sniffle as he clasped to the shoulder strap of his bag, glancing just briefly over his shoulder without even the slightest movement of his head.

[hold, following Ava and Alexandria]

Unlike Alex, Martha could not resist to take part of Ava and Alexandria's conservation.

"My parents always told me and my older sister Alice that we were the best", she claimed with an even more conceitful tone. "In fact, I actually have many talents, but music is my forte."

Tris had followed behind the little entourage at a distance with curiosity, far enough away to avoid notice. And then the conversation turns to music.

"Music?"

She runs up and joins the group.

"Music!" And then the lovely harp-like voice runs a short basic scale.

[Aft Gunnery]

"Of course. Go fore back to the hold, there you sill find stairs up to the passenger and cabins deck, going nearer the prow of the ship you will find another set of stairs, were you go aft past the galley and bar area to a ladder up, after which the Captain's study will be immediately ahead of you, right at the aft of the ship."
Elliot then immediately departed without another word, trusting his newest Gunner should have no trouble, or at least certainly more than he should be able to handle, getting to the Captain's. Meanwhile, Elliot needed to return to his own cabin, and make up on lost time. He was begin to feel somewhat weaker than he would like, and decided he needed nourishment for the time being.

(I've lost most of my files crying but my com is up and running again. any ideas how to rip the data off my old hard drive?)

[captains cabin]

Daniel shuffled through his papers. noting the descriptions so he might recognize his passengers when they showed. but he suspected a few that hadn't bought tickets through the station master would pop up.

and if the voices coming through the speaker tubes were an indication it had already happened. Hearing on of the clanks tromping down the hall, Daniel quickly tidied up what he could. unfortunate his spare limb chest (can never tell when you might get 'disarmed' in this world*) would not shut properly and he had to pull one out to get the blasted thing shut. this one in particular was a rather large weapon, a death ray type device, he had swiped from some loose wing nut that had tried to capture him once.

laying the big gun on the desk, Daniel steps to the door to greet the newcomers.

*: in Dungeons and Dragons, i noticed some people would carry one big sword or axe only and not bring another weapon with them on the adventure. then they would get 'disarmed' by something and be stuck with no weapons.
