">HOLD IT!<" ">Halt!<" ">Er...uh...Please stop.<"
Three voices called out to the young girl, sand flying about as three small forms popped forth from the earth. When the dust cleared, Riku would find herself faced with three Diglett, each one identical save for the look in their eye.
">We've seen what you've been up to around!<" The Diglett on the left practically barked, his eyes cast in a stern glare.
">Toying with a Sandshrew, desecration of the Temple, picking on the Colonel, not to mention the fright you gave one of our own!<" This Diglett seemed to have a more intellectual look in his eyes, as if he were analysing everything about him.
">...and...uh...we won't...you know...er...stand for it....<" The last Diglett, standing on the right, sounded nervous; constantly attempting to avoid direct eye contact with the girl or her Pokemon.
">We are the Diglett brothers! We won't stand for your wave of terror!<" The Stern Diglett called out, already appearing as if he were going to attack.
">Now now brother Taro, there's a good chance that there's a reasonable explanation for all this...<" The intellectual one spoke up, turning to his brother.
">No Jiro! Whenever we let them talk it's either lies or they run away! I won't give them the chance any longer!<" The stern Diglett barked back, proceeding forward.
">Um...uh....guys...oh my...eh...nevermind...<" The last brother muttered meekly off to the side. Obviously he didn't deal with confrontation well.
">This ends here!<" The stern Diglett called out, marching a little further from his brothers. An odd sight considering he was a Diglett.
It would seem Riku, and more importantly Ryuu, had been challenged. Considering they were outnumbered, it didn't seem fleeing was an option.

The girl sighed. They were so close to the end of this island and yet another distraction popped up. This would be a much worse challenge then usual. It seemed that they would have Ryuu would have three enemies, not just one. But at least it seemed they were fighting fairly and only one at a time. The girl hoped that her pokemon had the strength to defeat them all.
The Larvitar looked wistfully at the ferry in the distance. They had been so close. Immediately he reverted his attention back to the three Diglett particularly the one that was challenging him. If it was a fight they wanted, it was a fight they could have. He went on the defensive, ready for whatever the pokemon was going to throw at him.

">Your journey ends here!<" Taro called out strictly, eyes narrowed fiercely at Ryuu. Now that the Diglett was standing closer, it was clear his body was somewhat harder then most of his kind, covered in thin scars and scratches. Of the three brothers he was clearly the warrior, and likely the most powerful when it came to combat.
Quicker then the eye could completely followed, the hardened Diglett slipped beneath the earth. A moment later he popped free from the ground, not closer to Ryuu, but rather farther away. He wasn't the type to use such cowardly tactics as sneak attacks. No, he'd attack this Larvitar head on.
Twisting about in his hole, the Diglett moved to catch something that had popped out of the hole with him. It was a large, flat rock...his weapon of choice. Holding the Rock tightly in his mouth, Taro charged forward, sand flying about him. He'd start this fight off simple, with Scratch!

(16-4) + (8- cool = 12/2 = 6 DMG The Larvitar was struck hard enough by the Scratch attack that blood flowed freely down his back. He had hoped his armor was strong enough to take the hit, but this time it simply hadn't been enough. Gathering some of the anger and frustration from this island, he lunged forward aiming to Bite his opponent!

Pulling back, the Diglett narrowed his eyes even further before hunkering down. ">Your will is too weak to defeat me. Such an attack will never pierce my Diglett Spirit!<" Taro declared loudly, an fire burning within his eyes. A small vein appeared in the Ground-Types then, the stand stirring faintly around him. It was slight at first, easily passed off as a trick of the light; but with each passing second it grew. By the time Ryuu reached his opponent, the Diglett would be encased in a flickering brown-white aura. Taro hadn't simply been acting dramatic, Ryuu would have to pierce through the spirit of his conviction!

The Larvitar seemed to be pushed back from the aura when he charged. Annoyed, he glared at his opponent. This Diglett was a lot stronger then he had assumed. He debated heavily on the ups and downs of attacking once more. If he failed, the damage would be great. If he succeeded the rewards could be great. Now was not the time to take risks however. The Larvitar would have to bide his time and wait for the right moment to strike. Instead he began to spin, with his tail grazing the ground and trying to loosen the sand. When the sand was sufficiently loose, he began grabbing fistfuls of the stuff and tossing it at the Diglett trying to keep the pokemon's vision clouded so he could hide within the sand!

">Such underhanded tactics won't work on me! Together my brother's, lend me your strength!<" Taro roared these words, and all at once the three brothers disappeared; but not for long.
The sand began to swirl on Ryuu's right, quickly forming into a spiralling pit. At it's center was the youngest of the three brother's, spinning like a top as the loose sand slowly began to suck the Larvitar inward.
Suddenly the ground would give way beneath the Larvitar, sending him skyward and away from his element. While the youngest of the brother's had dragged Ryuu into position, Jiro had come up beneath him, sending the Rock-Type into the air.
As the Larvitar began to plummet earthward like a stone, Taro began charging forward from a distance farther off. Moments before Ryuu hit the ground, Taro intended to hit him.
This was the infamous Beat Up, an attack that required perfect teamwork, and grew stronger for each Pokemon that joined in on the assault!

The Larvitar was falling and as he watched, predicted what the Diglett were planning. Just as he was about to fall right into the trap, he managed to swerve sideways, narrowly missing being hit by the Diglett. Instead he bounced slightly on the sand, hitting it with a thud and managing to land on his rump. Luckily he was perfectly fine and rose to his feet once more. Grabbing some of the loose sand once more, he began to toss it into the air in all directions making it hard to see for the Diglett. This time, he was going to race into the sand making it hard for his opponent to see where he was coming from and then hit him with a Bite attack!

Not being able to see might help prevent an opponent from dodging, but how would it hold against Taro's defensive prowess? His body had grown stronger, harder then most over the years as he fought to defend his siblings. Would the Larvitar really be able to break through his muscular form!? Taro's eyes narrowed, a vein appearing in his head as he focused his spirit. One could almost image him flexing, as he released the full power of his Diglett Conviction!

(19-11) + (9-7)= 10 DMG This time the Larvitar managed to break through the Diglett's conviction. There seemed to be a moment when the pokemon looked almost possessed but it was really his own determination leading him through. This was accompanied by the heavy responsibility that weighed on his shoulders of protecting his trainer. His opponent seemed to freeze and this was it! Opening his jaws once more, he tried to crunch down with a Bite attack to finish his opponent once and for all!

Taro gritted his teeth, his conviction had wavered for a moment. It hadn't been the doing of the Larvitar, rather the focus on his convictions had turned into thoughts of his siblings...and that brought with it a stunning, painful, if recent, memory. In that exact moment his opponents had sunk into his hardened body and done their damage.
The Diglett slumped forward...he was beginning to feel tired...
An abrupt spark came into his eye. No! This wasn't the end! He was Taro of the famous Diglett Brothers! He couldn't lose here! The Diglett's spirit flared with the power of his renewed conviction. He'd repel his opponent with shear force of will!

The Larvitar was really starting to get frustrated. This battle was definitely not going well and he still had two opponents after this one! Irritated, he didn't play any more tricks. The pokemon watched his opponent, preparing to dodge at any moment's given notice! He must protect his trainer and he could not afford to lose!

Once again the Diglett's spirit prevailed; but even as Ryuu went on the defensive, Taro didn't attack. Rather he closed his eyes, focusing his spirit further around him, tightening it about him like a shroud. His body gleamed and hardened with the energy of his conviction. He hadn't fallen...wouldn't fall...but he'd come close. He couldn't let that happen. He had those he needed to protect.
Focusing harder, Taro gathered his energy. His was the power to survive anything. To Endure all and come back fighting!

Ryuu looked a little puzzled when he saw his opponent didn't attack. He thought for sure he was a goner. Lucky for him it gave him another chance to attack. Gathering all his energy and remaining strength, he prepared to settle this with one final attack! Running forward once again, he began to circle his opponent carefully. Judging when to attack, he suddenly lunged in from the left with a Bite attack!

Taro held his stance, strengthening his spirit ever more. The Larvitar had failed twice to pierce the physical manifestation of the Diglett's conviction, why would this time be any different!~?
