Awww, Happy Anniversary smile
Try Sparkling Grape Juice, that's what my hubby always gets me, I'm not such a big fan of alcohol. However, I'll be pregnant for my 21st birthday. Doesn't really bother me too much, since, like I said, I don't really like alcohol anyway, but it would be nice to have that one drink!

Thanks everyone! heart I've never been a big drinker, but I do like to have a drink on certain occasions. And sangrias in the summertime are so nice. Oh, well. Sparkling grape juice sounds like a good idea.
I have another appointment this afternoon to try and find the baby's heartbeat. I'm at 11 weeks and 4 days. I hope they find it.

Happy Anniversary!
I waited till about 20 weeks i think then began to have about half a pint a week, i asked around and read up about it and all i saw was people recommending it! I enjoyed going out and drinking quite a lot before i got preggers it was really hard for me to stop all together now its not too bad... sometimes for special occasions I'll have a whole can/bottle of larger... ooh adventurous me!
A glass a wine, half a pint or like a 1/4 shot of spirits is apparently safe enough to be enjoyed a week during pregnancy. Although personally I'm not willing to risk any spirits, I missed my 18th... but i figure I'll just have a massive party for my 19th to make up for it [:

Really? Absolutely everything I've ever read says that there is no safe amount of alcohol to drink during pregnancy. The only safe amount is none. If I was one to drink at all, I wouldn't do it during pregnancy, just to be on the safe side. I'd be too afraid of fetal alcohol syndrome to even touch the stuff.
I'm 21, but I still don't drink anyway. Actually, I've never had any alcohol ever. Used to be for myself, just to see how long I could go without ever drinking, but now it's more for my husband. His mom is a chronic alcoholic, and he's sworn off alcohol because of it.

-cough- Not the sources I've read, Tinn. They usually say they don't know at what point it goes from being safe to unsafe so it's best to err on the side of caution and not drink at all. One drink in a pregnancy does not cause FAS, there's no need to sensationalize here. Keep to facts, please.
I've had to research this in the past as well as for breast feeding and that's what I've most commonly seen said. In some cases light alcohol consumption has been suggested to help with problems during pregnancy including water retention.
Now because when this comes up someone gets a big burr up their behind I'm going to be clear: I am NOT advocating drinking during pregnancy. I don't even drink often myself. I can count my drinks over the course of the year on two hands with fingers left over. However, my morals and personal beliefs have nothing to do with the information needed.
Now, as you were ladies. whee

Sorry, wasn't trying to sensationalize. I probably just haven't personally seen anything in my readings that say anything like that. Then I merely gave my own thoughts on it.

I have a glass of wine infrequently. As long as the consumption isn't excessive, I'm pretty sure that a sip here and there can't harm you or your baby, but then again, I'm no doctor. Just do what you feel comfortable with.

I have 6 weeks left. My sister gave birth to a little girl yesterday. She had an epidural for the pain. 6 pounds 3 ounces of girly goo. I can't wait to hold my little boy.

Congrats to your sister RaiRai!! (I saw you today on the Knuffels thread when I finally placed my first order for any kind of art/siggie pet!)
And, froggibabey, are you the same who recently joined the purkle menewsha thread? (EDIT- nevermind froggi! It was a similar name, but not yours!)
I'm pretty sure I read somewhere like What To Expect When You're Expecting that an occasional glass of wine during pregnancy to loosen yourself up for umm.. marital fun, or to celebrate a wedding or something will not harm your baby. I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure I remeber reading it somewhere!

Cup-of-Tea Did anyone have to take antibiotics during pregnancy? sad Like a big dose of them?(4 pills per day) -_-' I did, for recurring sinus infections and then haemophilus influenzae (hib) closer to term. I made sure to eat yogurt to try to prevent yeast infections and other loss of important bacteria! It's ironic.. during pregnancy is when it's ideal to avoid meds (unless necessary) but it's when I was suddenly having to take so mainy different meds for nausea and constipation and hemmorhoids and infections and even for side effects of other medications! I hadn't been taking any meds while not pregnant, so it was no fun!

I have a tour of the birthing center at my hospital tomorrow afternoon. My doctor recommended it saying that studies have proven that women who are aware of their surroundings have easier births. I hope he's right!
On Friday afternoon, I have to spend 3 hours in the hospital. I have an ultrasound, a regular check up and a non-stress test. I wasn't actually told what the non-stress test was for, so I researched it. Apparently I get monitored to make sure baby is doing alright? And that if the doctor believes he's in any distress they could recommend I be induced? I wish he would have explained what it was before signing me up for it. Not that I wouldn't have done it, but it's with a different doctor than normal, so I already feel a little nervous about everything.
