"Koto keeps my things locked up most of the time, so I don't play around. Or at least that's his excuse. Maybe you can stop by when he's distracted and I can fish them out and show you." Which was yet another reason she didn't like staying with the master strategist. But you had to live with some things, this was one of her current things to live with. But a little nod. "You can have that one, I'll make another. Just change the candle when you need to, slid it out and pop a new one in. Flint cand be replaced too."
Turning a look back to Shyrae. "I come up with odd ideas, or so I've been told. Currently working on something that involves spyglasses..." Though a perk up as she was handed over a seemingly instrument of some sort. Gently taking it, she looked it all up and down, running fingers over the etching in the side. A dragon. "It's beautiful...and it was a rather accurate call. Impressive in itself...not easy to mimick a dragon...though the purring thing is rather popular to mimick." Shrugging lightly and handing it back. "It has a dragon on it, why? Is it only for them?"
She gave him a suspicious look as he proclaimed no bragging and then showcased manners as well. Was there a full moon coming tonight or what? So for a few minutes she seemed to think on it then fixed her hat some before clearing her throat. "Wipe your boots first..." Walking back along the back of the beast and stepping down onto the deck, resting her hands behind her back and waiting for him.

"I would like to come along as well if you don't mind, I don't even know half of the things you have invented so it be cool to see what you managed to bring along." He said as he took the spark candle from Shyrae when she passed it to him and tested it as well, smiling when he opened the lid. Though when Jae mentioned Koto Caden rolled his eyes, he has met the man in the past and the guy was a little odd still he felt sorry for Jae that she got her stuff locked up. "That's sad really, you should be allowed to show off your work when you want to; so if I have the time I will stop by and check out your work...if you can make something as interesting as a spark candle then I would like to see what else you have made." Though when she told him that he could keep the spark candle Caden grinned though he kept himself from putting it in his pocket since it was still soaked. "Thanks Jae."
But when Shyrae pulled out what she had used against the dragons Caden blinked and looked at it while it was still in Jae's hands. "I agree with you Jae, this is an amazing piece of work...Shyrae how long did it take you to make something like this? i've never seen anything like this at all...what a great piece of work." Though when Jae handed it over Caden sighed a little and remembered about the spyglass for a second, the only interesting thing he has and yet it's cursed. "Remember that spyglass I bought? Seems that it's cursed, it's weird but I'm keeping it just for the fact it's an odd yet interesting item."

A solemn nod as he stopped rubbing at his temple. The throbbing seemed to be dying, which was good news. Why did it seem like he was getting hurt so frequently now? "Us..." More Laerethe, all together somewhere. Now that was a surreal image all in itself. "He works very hard for the city. I'm truly lucky that he is my father and that he is willing to teach me so much... The Lady Eilynne is also very competent, though shrouded in mystery." And then a blink to Rahsaveer. "How did you arrive to the ship during the storm? Some form of teleportation perhaps?"

Hunter's expression didn't change, and he swung one rope over to the Claw, landing lightly with barely a sound on the deck.
"No bragging rights. I didn't win, though I could have, under my own merit or even my own orders. it's one thing to issue a challenge and win with everything in your arsenal at your command. quite another when someone uses magic to hijack your ship becuase she thinks your being too 'rash'. So I came to apologize for the obviously overwhelming advantage that was neither ordered or at my disposal that cause the Claw to come behind the Chimera."
A slight grin.
"And for using the term 'old' in an attempt to goad you into the storm. though you did miss out, it was quite fun."
which could be seen by the fact his was half naked to the eyes...his shirt was still drenched through and his pants were skintight as it was. at least he wasn't dripping water. just waterlogged.

"Yes, you didn't think Eilynne was the only one did you? She might think she is, but no. There's many of us." A ghost of a smile twitched about his lips and he nodded. "Isn't she though? That is the very reason she was sent." At the dragonlord's question, he waved a hand over the ball that lit up and began sparking inside. "Secrets, my boy. All secrets. We do not reveal that which you are not ready to have."
Eilynne joined him a moment later and quirked an eyebrow. "Talking about me? It certainly seemed that way. Are you alright Kaznec? I know you took a knock to the head." Then a shake of her head as she witnessed Hunter talking to Gem. "He will never change, will he?"
"Who is Koto and why must you listen to him?" Shyrae took the pipe that she and her father had worked on together and ran her fingers over the etching of the dragon. "This one does. I have another that mimics anything I wish it to. This one was my first one and it was just a theory I had. When it worked, I began working on the mulitpurpose one. My father helped me..." She smiled and tucked the pipe away once again. "The pirate in port told you that, Caden. I was shocked you still took it and I'm not so sure it's a good idea to hold onto it. Cursed things...well they generally act up at inopportune times."

He took a moment to wring out his very wet hair, then nodded. "It almost seems that way sometimes. You are all so rare, most of us think of the Laerethe as more godlike legends than an actual race." Today was just full of surprises though, wasn't it? He witnessed another one as Eilynne more or less popped out of nowhere to join then. He moved to a standing position to allow for more comfortable space inside the crow's nest. "Very minor, Eilynne. I'll be fine, since your... friend was gracious enough to heal me. What happened on deck? Was the captain causing you more trouble?"

She raised an eyebrow as he went into explaination of things and even apologies. Though she did take the time to hand off her hat a moment and take to drying her hair some as he did so. No one liked frizzy hair...especially when it was red and such. She was nowhere near as soaked as he was, yay long coats. "So...you're apologizing..." Which was odd and she had to take a moment to process all of this. Chucking the towel to the nearest crewmate, she plopped her hat back on and took a moment to walk around the man, walking him up and down before coming to stand boot toe to boot toe with him, looking up to keep his gaze. "Never ever...call me old. But...perhaps another time we'll have another race. A fair one." Giving him a smile then, after all...it was fun to see him apologizing, what with hsi pride and all.
"Be in the right place at the right time Caden, though if I'm unlucky, I'm going to end up living with Kaznec and Lycear...not that that's a bad thing...just the circumstances under which that could happen isn't the most shining example to put on my record." Shaking her head lightly...sometimes it was hard being so clumsy and getting pinned with things that weren't true or were exaggerated. "Koto is the Master Strategist of the Guardians, I'm got at planning and I'm a cartographer, so by series of certain events, I got taken on as the apprentice for the position. But...I also don't have any place of my own or any family...so I kind of stay with him. He doesn't think I can do any of it right and I'm more trouble than I'm worth. When he precieves I do something wrong, I get kicked out and such. Spend more than one night sleeping in hte desert or the barracks."
Shrugging lightly though, trying not to think too badly on it. After all, she should be greatful right? Dragon-folk were long lived, it wasn't like housing a pet or a teenager for a few years. But back to Shyrae who was a nice distraction with her explaination. "Wow, really? That's quite the thought process there...after all, sounds are much much harder to acheive than mechanics." Tilting her head lightly. "Father's seem to be rather helpful in thier ways of passing knowledge..." After all, what would she know?

Caden gave a light nod to Jae and had to smile a little. "Don't worry I'll do my best, my mind is itching to see what you have come up with." His smile was now a grin because he was interested to see just exactly what Jae has come up with. After all having the job he has Caden doesn't do too much really, yeah he is able to read, maybe even play with the orphans but he doesn't have that much time to invent things like Jae does. Though as she went on to explain Koto the guardian listened a bit and was a little upset at how he treated Jae, still she seemed to be fine with the way she was so what could he say to that? she had her own way when going about things with Koto. "Well hey if you don't want to live with him anymore you could live with me." He was joking of course, though still Caden did live alone, not that he had a choice though still an offer is just an offer even if it's just a joke.
But then he looked to Shyrae as she pointed out that he was warned before hand that the object was cursed before he bought it. "No I don't think so, not once did he say to me that the spyglass was cursed during the conversation, and before he left he said he was glad to be rid of the accursed thing which really sounded like he was just glad to sell it." Well that's the way it went, not once did he hear the phrase 'this item is cursed' at all and if he did he would of never bought it. "The reason why I want to hold onto it though is the simple fact of why let someone else be bothered with it? After all it's just a stupid cursed item and besides I like to collect rare items whenever I get the chance, at my house I have an assortment of rare books and trinkets that I've found or was given, this spyglass I bought could go into a wooden box and placed away where no one will be bothered with it ever again." A nod to that as he mentally checked where he left the item, in one of his bags of course since he didn't need to carry it anymore.

Rahsaveer nodded, "Many think that very same way. But no, we are not gods, merely beings just like you and your kind, the elves, humans, and various other races that all exist here on this plane and many others." He gave a smile as his companion popped up and shook his head. "Never, Eilynne. We wouldn't do such a thing."
"Well, I'm very pleased to hear that and also pleased that you approve of my dear friend here. Rahsaveer, it has been too long." She splayed her fingers across her chest and dipped her head. Then turning back to Kaznec, she rolled her eyes. "Just being his normal, arrogant self. Though I think we struck a truce at some point...but I'm not really sure."
"Teachers misunderstanding their students?" A shake of her head, "I know that well. It really is quite sad, isn't it? He cannot appreciate what you can do because he refuses to even take the time to understand it." A pause for a moment and she rubbed at Savvy's back to make sure she was doing alright. "At least you know what your future holds. It is very hard to find a job when you are only a Trainer and an unknown one at that. I have yet to find a place where I can truly sell my knowledge and make myself a name instead of standing in the shadow of the one I bear."
Snapping her brows together as a frown line appeared on her forehead, she stared at Caden. "Accursed thing. That implies either broken or cursed and since it was coming from the pirate, of course it would be cursed." Though she blinked quite confused for a moment. "You expected him to tout that particular aspect as a clincher to the sale? Humans do things rather strangely, don't they?" Who would buy a spyglass they knew was cursed or accursed, which implies the very same thing. She certainly wouldn't. So they had a cursed spyglass on board? Lovely. "Just keep it locked up. You don't even know what it can truly do and underestimating the powers of something unknown is not a wise move."

he gave a devilish grin, and a spark of fire to his eyes. and then without a question, swept her up and planted a nice firm kiss on her, before spinnign her away and up on the railing with him.
"It's a date then...and nice to see your lips are still as soft as ever."
a chuckle and back to his ship. Gem knew him well enough to know he was being sincere...but always there was a the devil in him.
"Alright...everyone accounted for, everything in order...drop canvas, and lets see about getting to our next port of call!"

"Erm, thanks for the offer Caden, but a human home is not the place for a dragon-folk. We're simply just too big in most cases...and well we eat a lot. And sometimes randomly have innante breath or magical weapon problems...or maybe that last part is just me." Giving a shrug though...after all, she was who she was and was never bothered by that before so why start being bothered now. Bell knew she was weird by most stanards. "And you know Caden, that spyglass is a blessing as well, if you make it a curse on your enemies." Nodding then turning a look back to Shyrae.
"Well to him, being clumsy is something that he doesn't find at all a good quality, and I'm never going to grow out of it." Raising her tail and giving it a sway in the air. "No natural dragon balance." Thus a shrug of white scaled shoulders to it. "Hm, not so sure about my future. Koto pretty much decides if I can have the eventual Master rank in place of him. Till then...well I'm just a little inventor. Though others believe I should set up shop." Kaznec did at least and as far as Kaz was concerned, Koto was a problem as well. "I just look like I know what I'm doing." Giving somewhat of a smile and scratching at the base of her horns.
Savvy looked up in the general direction of her friend, giving her a nod and a very very rare and covert smile. "I'm starting to feel better..." Which was nice because being sick was not a fun thing at all. Well...the dripping had stopped in steady ways so that meant the rain was gone...which was a blessing.
Gem raised an eyebrow at that look and spark. Oh wait she knew that look, that meant he was going to-...and he just did. Though she didn't fight him but nor did she offer to the exchange either. He had still called her old after all, and well, he would have to be punished for thing. This was one little form. A roll of her eyes at him as she swiped a gloved hand back across her lips. "Nice to see you still have an honest word about you...and I am a woman...I'm soft in all the places that count." Because she baited whomever she pleased. But a turn back to her own crew. "Get back to work, I still see water on my deck! Give me two half and one full sail. And then you may all have a muffin, Galley's making some."

"Though yours is by far the most resourceful and innovative, I would have to say." Bowing his head slightly to accompany his compliment and then turning to look down onto the other ship, catching sight of Hunter and Gem. "He does seem rather... forward and tends to act on his own whims. Though I have faith that he will learn to trust in powers other than his own soon, Eilynne." Watching as the captain returned to their ship and gave orders. He wanted to go down and check on Jae too but wasn't sure if he was still needed in the crow's nest. He certainly hadn't performed an adequate enough job last time... "At least the storm is now at our backs. It should be a relatively safe journey until our next destination, which are the ruins correct?"

Eilynne nodded, "Yes we can only hope for that to happen. And sooner rather than later." She glanced up at the sky and watched the storm for a moment then nodded. "Ruins and then the caverns. We are hoping to find even one piece of the gift nearby."
Rahsaveer put his splayed fist at his shoulder and bowed in response then gestured to Kaznec. "He's doing just fine but I believe he has some things to do below deck. Don't you, Kaznec?"
"Clumsiness tends to be a bad thing when working, I've found." She frowned for a moment and then studied the dragon for a moment. "No natural dragon balance? Isn't that what your wings and tail do?" She hadn't had a whole lot of experience with dragons but she knew a little bit. She leaned against her friend and continued to pet through her hair. "If you really want to, I say go for it. Teachers rarely know enough about their students to be able to pass that sort of judgment."
Thobias was not pleased at all by what he saw between Hunter and Gem but he knew better than to get involved. He walked over and quirked an eyebrow at Gem then glanced at the Chimera and back at her. "You're wet and not happy. Shall I take care of that for you?"

"Well that's the way Koto is, he can't see the brains behind the wonderful person that is Jae so he keeps on trying to put down her little inventor side, I'm just glad you decided to keep on going at it Jae you really know how to make things work." A nod to that as he tried the spark candle again, what an interesting little item and it would be really useful when needed that's for sure, especially if no one could use magic. "Alright then if you don't want to live with me that's fine I don't mind." A grin to that before he turned to Shyrae when she decided to go at him over the whole spyglass thing, and Caden just looked at her and listened quietly as she spoke until she was finished. "Hey don't worry about it, it's stored away in a good place, if I have to take it out then I will but right now that won't be happening." Though he smiled at Jae and said. "We'll see bout that." Then went looking back at the spark candle as he listened to the women speak.
A blink though as he looked back at Jae and smiled a little, someone told her she should set up a shop? Sounds cool. "I say go for it, there are a lot of people who would like to purchase your spark candle I know that, so it wouldn't be such a bad thing to try to sell your inventions out on the market, Koto can't really stop you from doing so." A small nod to her as he leaned against the wall of hull watching her with a light smile, he could see her opening a shop and she would have a good chance of succeeding in being profitable if she is able to turn out unique items like the spark candle, but that's up to her.
"Hey don't worry about your clumsiness...I see it as another part of you that makes you...well you...and I don't see it as much as a big deal, you just need to be careful that's all never midn what Koto thinks." So she didn't have proper balance, he didn't see it as such a big thing, if Koto wanted to make it seem bad then let him but to the guardian leaning against the wall he found her whole clumsy bit kind of funny but not in a harmful way just a sweet kind of way.

Brow knitting for a moment as he looked back to Eilynne. "We haven't found one single piece yet, have we? And there does not seem to be any apparent pattern in the places where they were found before by Guardian search teams." But a surprised glance to the other Laerethe then. He read his mind? It sure seemed that way but whether he was merely suggesting it, Kaz couldn't tell. "I was just thinking of seeing how Jae is doing, she doesn't care too much for storms." But duty oriented as always. "Do you think the Captain would mind if I left my post then? He was the one who assigned me to it in the first place but the storm does seem to have passed..."
