Khamsyn sat in wide-eyed shock at Professor Abrid's unique teaching style. He didn't know what to make of the man, he'd heard he was eccentric, and now the Zero knew it was true. He sat there quietly taking notes and occasionally catching himself staring transfixed before trying in vain to catch up on his notations. He didn't really have many questions at this time, prefering to let the others ask. Their questions were pretty much the same as any he could think of anyways.

Ubel scribbled some notes down quickly, before lifting his hand a little to get Abrid's attention. "Castor Shells are permitted in duels, correct? If so, are there certain ones that are and are not limited, and could you say which?" he asked, purely out of curiosity. Dueling was of great interest to him, so he wanted to know how he could use this knowledge in it.

Lior's eyebrows went up a bit, and he smiled at Ubel's question, as well as Mathiaz. "It would be sort of odd to use the shell to see, only to have it give you away," he agreed, nodding as he cocked a hip out and waited for a response from the professor.

Aysel froze at the display, her eyes darting about nervously. After a moment or two of initial shock, however, she relaxed and listened to Abrid's explanation. A castor shell- that made sense. She quickly scribbled down a few notes, and then hummed softly in thought. Her classmates had all asked good questions, and she could think of nothing else to ask, so she merely sat there and waited for the answers to come.

Sombre shrieked and clapped at the sudden darkening of the room, and her face lit up in a wild grin as everything went infared. Jumping to her feet, she waved her hands in front of her, dazzled by the way the room and everything around her appeared. "To See the Unseen..." she murmured, hugging Scalpel close, "To unravel the deception, to counteract the excesses of the former dead..To See the Outside, In."

Daggart, who had been lingering at the back of the class caught in amazement at the Infrared Flare's effect, finally made his way over to his friend Abacus and settled by the Phlegm's side, "Cool, huh? I wonder what else there is." He spoke in a low tone, as though murmuring secrets and so he wouldn't interrupt Abrid.

As the opportunity for questions came up, Daggart raised his hand momentarily before calling out his own question, "How does crafting a Castor Shot differ from crafting, say, a technoequip? How can you make something like the Infrared Flare?" The other questions floating around didn't really matter as much to him - you wouldn't have any for anything if you didn't know how to make it in the first place. And... well, Daggart had a penchant for making things... he liked working with his hands.

Khamsyn squinted slightly at the infrared light, a look of nervous confusion on his face. The look was not from the castor shell, or even Professor Abrid's teachings, no, it was solely directed at Sombre. He hadn't seen her much prior to this class, but she had always struck Khamsyn as a little odd. Usually quite quiet, she was at the moment anything but. It was kind of creepy just how enthusiastic about the infrared castor shell demonstration she was. After a few seconds of trying to wrap his mind around her comments, he shook his head and tried to focus back on Abrid. Still, out of the corner of his pale green eye, he watched the odd girl and her companion Scalpel.

Having paused and asked a passing professor the way to science class, Cypress was finally on the right path. She tried hard to contain her excitement, but was also nervous now, as she knew she was late! She had just turned into the proper hall when she heard a loud bang, causing her to jump nearly out of her skin. One of the doors half way down the hall now exuded a reddish light that filtered into the hallway, loosing strength as it did so. Cypress checked her schedule and mentally counted the doorways and smiled -- that was her class!

She hurried towards the door and peeked in. The red light had faded and the lights were slowly returning to normal. Figuring it might be best to sneak in when everyone was distracted, Cypress slipped in through the open door and took a seat near the middle of the class on the wall closest to the door. She quickly unpacked her notebook and quill and looked around at all of the other Empyreans in the room. Suddenly feeling very alone and somewhat vulnerable, Cypress shrunk down in her seat a bit, trying not to be noticed.

She looked up at the professor curiously; why was he waving a gun around?! Still, none of the class seemed to be alarmed and it wasn't long before Cypress connected the gun in the professor's hand to the red light. Still, she was already a bit behind. She was just in time to hear part of someone's question from the back . . . did he say "Castor Shot?" and "Infrared Flare"? That must have been what the professor had shot to make the lights turn red. Smiling a bit to herself, Cypress started writing down notes, though leaving enough space to edit in the proper information in case her guess was wrong.

"Hey Daggart," Abacus greeted quietly, offering a grin and a small wave to his friend. "Very -- not to mention more about it." He glanced at the area in front of his desk, then focused his gaze on Abrid again. "Makes you wonder what's going to happen next," he added quietly, unwilling to admit that he was still jumpy from the sudden shot that began the lecture.

When the door opened, however, Abacus flicked his gaze over to it. I wonder who it is...? He blinked in surprise when he saw Cypress, offering her a grin as she quickly took a seat. "Hey," he murmured quietly to Daggart, "Cypress is here. Remember her? She's sitting behind us somewhere."

Abrid was pleased to see so many questions. Diligently he made his way through each of them, trying to extemporate as clearly as he could. "The Shells are rated based on the level of difficulty of the spell trapped within it, both in how hard it was to cast, and how much damage it can do. Sometimes its not a matter of how much damage so much as how difficult it is to defend against, or what sort of lasting effects it might have. The Infrared Flare is a Level One." Abrid twirled the gun about in one hand with a grin. "There are spells that create silence, and augments that can enable you to cover up the flash of light. But these are modifiers you must learn on your own in time; there's no simple switch on the gun that can do these things." Abrid grinned and strode across the room a little ways, taking the gun from his hand with his whip tail and holding it aloft with the prehensile appendage. "Shells are allowed in Duels, but those participating must make sure to use only those levels that are equivalent to your Stage. There are also some that come with an express warning not to be used against Empyreans. There are some that are simply too dangerous, like the #84: the Anti-tank shot for fighting against Outsiders, or the #93: the Anti-Monster Shot which is rather self-explanatory." Abrid cocked the gun again and pivoted towards the class. "Crafting a Caster Shell is similar to technoequips in principle. Basically, a Technoequip is made in a hybrid of crafting skills and magical components to create objects that retain magical properties. Caster shells are actually Spells that have been designed for very specific purposes and then sealed within a Shell. The Shell is actually a physical container and barrier for the spell magic. The Caster Gun is a machine designed to unseal the contained spell and direct it in a safe way. One who becomes a Caster Shell Crafter will endeavour to learn how to cast specific Caster Spells and learn how to safely seal them. It is a difficult and tempermental art." Abrid lifted the gun in his whip tail and pointed it at the class. "It should be said that not all of the Shells are designed to do damage. There are many purposes they can be used for, like the #86." And with that he fired off another shell. This one let out a black intangible circle that ricocheted around the room pulsing like a sound wave and then disappeared. It left behind a tingling sensation in the air, a hightened sense of awareness in those present in the room. Abrid simply smiled and waited for someone to ask what it was.

Cypress wrote down almost everything Professor Abrid said, not having heard the questions, but more than able to figure out what they were from his answers. Spells trapped in bullets and a gun designed to release them safely? Didn't sound too safe for the recipient, but Cypress had an expression of sheer delight on her face -- this was too cool! There were way too many things she could think of that this gun could be made to do. Her face fell only slightly at the mention of difficulty; if she set her mind to it, she knew she could do it. The idea of technoequips interested her, as did crafting things. She'd have to learn more about it later.

In the mean time, she squirmed at all of the motions of the gun, especially as Professor Abrid went over all of the dangerous shots. When he pointed the castor gun at them, she did her best to stifle a squeak. However, when he fired the shot and the circle of black exploded, she did squeak and almost fell out of her chair, she was so shocked. When she re-gained her seat, she noticed that she felt rather . . . tingly . . . She smiled, a bit giddy, as she heard a cricket chirp -- little did she know the thing was outside. She wanted to ask what it was, what it had done, but she was still a bit too shy and didn't want to call much attention to herself yet.

Nadyrr had been attempting to keep studious notes the entire class, however he was finding himself more then easily distracted by the caster gun. Nadyrr mumbled slightly as he listened to the teacher, concentrating on his notebook. In rather sloppy but detailed, for him, writing over the page Nadyrr made his notes.

Level of spell in shell for duels must make sure it is within your level...

Technoequip = hybrid of crafting skills and magical components to create objects that retain magical properties.

Along with various other notes started to fill the page, Nadyrr had a sinking feeling that his notes were going to be more then slightly hard to understand at the end of the day. With a sigh he rested his quill and found himself looking over the others in the classroom. Looking that is until the second shot was left off by Abrid, blinking slightly Nadyrr looked around with wide eyes attempting to concentrate on what happened.

Belwen had slide into a seat at the start of class and instead of working on notes instead gave her full concentration to Abrid. And then a bit after the whole silliness of the lights going out and then the infared, she'd taken time to look herself over in a small compact kept in her bag. Resting back and listening over how the shells were created she smiled slightly, it was all very exciting of course but also seemed at least a bit interesting.

When the second shot was sent off, Belwen looked wildly around the room sending her cotton candy colored curls bouncing. Not actually being able to see anything she rubbed the goosebumps from her arms as the tingling clung in the air, "What was that?" her voice was somewhat startled and demanding.

It had just been a crazy day for Yalitza, after the last class she figure she would be able to stop at her room to drop a few things off. Little did she know, she would end up late in the process for the next class as she lost track of time.

Practically running down the hall to get to Professor Abrid's class, she shakes her head as she already heard it had begun. Taking a deep breath, she pushes the door open slowly to not make a sound as she peeks in. Glancing around, she spots a seat close, that was open. Slipping inside, while Professor Abrid continues to talk, she quickly takes her seat just as she pulls out her notebook and quill.

Flipping to the next empty page, she situate herself as she starts to take the notes. She would have to gather some of the notes later form one of her fellow classmates, but for now she wrote down where she came in.

Cypress looked up as another Empyr snuck in late to Abrid's class. At least she wasn't the only one. She looked at the stylish girl and smiled, offering a little wave under the desk. I snuck in late too! Watch out; he likes shooting that thing Cypress offered, tilting her head towards Professor Abrid and the castor gun. Even though she was half terrified, she was still having quite a bit of fun in the class so far, though she was still curious as to what the last bullet had been.

Khamsyn noted down Professor Abrid's answers to his fellow students questions. Although he never really considered using a castor gun himself, let alone crafting the shells, he did take note as the Professor spoke of the spells contained within. Magic was one subject that Khamsyn took seriously and devoured knowledge of like a starving bear just woken from it's wintery slumber. He dreamed one day of being a potent Seraphim, and that required the knowledge of magic. Perhaps castor shells warranted more study for him, if they were simply another way of casting magicks.

Straightening himself in his chair, he raised his hand to ask a question just seconds before Abrid fired off the second shot. He instantly forgot what he was going to ask as all his senses seemed to come alive at once. The sensory overload was almost too much to cope with, but he, and apparantly the other students, seemed capable of handling it. At least for the moment. He heard Belwen ask what the shot was, and quickly shifted his attention back to the Professor for the answer. He didn't seem to realize that his hand was still raised.

Glancing over to the other student, Yalitza chuckles before giving her a small wave. Leaning to the side alittle she holds her hand over her mouth "I'm seeing this, and lets hope that he didn't notice. I'm Yalitza by the way, your fellow sneak into class phlegm." pulling back, alittle she watches the teacher making note of what caster shell is what.

As she thought over the caster shells, she figure it would be best to look more into them. The magic within each was something she knew she would need to know. Depending on what she chose to do as she transcend to the next level, she wanted to make she covered all the grounds.

Oh, and Daggart too! Mat quickly scribbled down everyone's questions in his notebook, including his own. And then he wrote answers out beside and below them when Abrid started talking again. Then Mat glanced up, and jumped slightly when Abrid fired off another of the shells.

Ooh, and this one did something different. He wondered how many shells there were in total - and quickly spoke up. "And how many different shells are there in total?" he asked, tagging onto the end of other questions.

When the effects of the infrared faded, Morrow blinked at the return to normal colors and then closed his eyes for a moment or two, trying to fix the infrared images in his head to do something with later on. Glancing around just a bit, he scooted a little closer to Dariyn and waited to see what might happen next.

Emrys jumped with a little yelp as the next shell went off, almost missing the questions that came up afterwards. He frowned at his paper where his pen had slid across the page when he was startled. "I wish he would warn us somehow before he does that..." he murmured softly, almost to himself.
