While the original might not have had the stomach to do it, the replica definitely did. Taking the life of its muse was simple knowing what it did, knowing that this was for the best, and all would be well from the outcome. It was logical, and that's all that mattered.

It was better this way, surely... memories filtering in and out like a projector of an old film on paper. The copy watched silently with that gentle smile in tact, calm, unfazed, relaxed. This was better than what would have happened...

it was easier this way..

these words continued to repeat themselves, assurance, that as a replica it would be less painful than for what it was based off to endure the closing off of what life once was to them. And as the cage came down and around, stripping away all that was cherished, held dear, pulled one by one, a tiredness consumed the replica.

It became more and more empty...

what was it that it'd died for now...? who were those faces... what faces? the smile dwindled into a flat expression, eyelids heavy, gaze blank.

This was what was right... right?

Waffleberry - Original

Dead. So many dead, so many…not dead. They were rising again, living. It was just a game, a dream. She tried to smile, tried to turn and look at sombra, but something was wrong. The Queen- ah, yes. The Queen. The purpose for this fight.

“No,” she said. The vines were coming, all around. She knew what they meant. They meant imprisonment. Waffleberry, Sherry, wanted to fight. She knew she should fight, but… it seemed she was fading. Falling apart, and falling away.

It was a Nightmare. Grief would have her and there was nothing she could do. The voice of the Queen was overpowering, and it made the little Hunter shiver.

The voice in her head sounded less sure.

I don’t know. Grief… I’m scared it’s not just a dream. I’m scared I won’t wake up.

Armagnac was silent for a moment, but her feelings were clear. Even she wasn’t entirely certain about things, now. It all echoed to real, to close to home. And the world was a funny place. It was all she said, but comfort oozed from her.

Sherry might have laughed, if she could have. But she was too worried, too scared. She could feel pieces of her breaking off, unraveling, fading and slipping away. She would be consumed. This was not a mere dream. This was an end. She was fading, being devoured. She would not wake up, she would not see the sun again, or Jake. Oh, no! He was there, too. Or was he not? Was this only her dream? She hoped so. Just her dream, just her and Armagnac to stay with the Queen. Let her be the only one to not wake up.

She had no problem dying, but not here, not like this. I don’t want to stay. She didn’t, she really didn’t. But she could feel herself fading, falling, disappearing. Even Armagnac seemed distant. I don’t want to stay. Please.

She couldn’t fight it. There was nothing to fight.

It was over.

SNAP

The world broke; the cage broke. Shattered. Senses came back to her, and Waffleberry, Sherry, the hunter, fought to keep them. She fought to regain herself, to keep all of her. Away from the Queen. She was whole, she needed to stay that way.

It was like waking up from a dream, even though this nightmare seemed to last forever. She’d nearly let herself sleep into oblivion. But something had…something had changed. A door? An opening door…and out of it came many, many figures. Puppets. Like her, like the others. They even looked like everyone. Like before. The ones in the room, only alive this time. Awake and alive.

One stepped in front of her. Her double. It spoke to her.

“Everything? What do you mean?” Sherry was confused by that. She was confused by the ‘Thanks’ and by the weapon the other her drew. It was her weapon, her’s and her double’s. “Goodbye?”

The blade of bone cut through her as though there were no resistance. She had seen it coming, but her mind had been to slow to process it. She was attacking herself. Her container, whatever that meant, was killing her.

It didn’t hurt. And this time, it didn’t feel like she was being slowly devoured as she faded. She simply… ceased to be in the dream any longer. It was over.

The End.

Waffleberry – Replica Version

The puppet went lifeless, all spark gone. She had look so confused in the end, and she probably had a right to. After everything, well, it would be shocking. It had been.

But it was for the best.

She remembered the voice. Telling her of dreams and memories, in the time before she knew was such things were. In the time when she was young and knew nothing, when everything was new and nothing was strange because she had not yet learned what strange was. The voice told her was she was then, a toy, a container for dreams. Something to be used when needed. A sacrifice.

It made sense now. It hadn’t back then.

So many memories. A whole life, filled with dreams and possibilities, all swirling around where there had once been nothing. She was a container for these things. Her whole purpose was to take them and hold them and carry them to where the original her could not. She was that original, in a way, filled with her life as she was. That was why this would work. That was whey she’d been made.

The cage grew around her. The Queen spoke, and Waffleberry, Sherry, the Replica, felt herself fading. Bits of her breaking away as memories and dreams and hopes and all the things that made up life swirled and unraveled and flashed before her. She had shined brightly, for just a moment, and now she was fading. All that she was, slowly drifting away to stay with the Queen.

It was okay. She was not afraid to die. This was why she was created. The other her would live and wake, for she could not stay. But I can. I will. It was her purpose.

She faded, gently, slowly, a smile on her face for as long as she was conscious of it. This was fine. This was her ending, and she was happy with it. Her time was over.

Fin.

[ Death Solo | Part 1 | VoiceofNature/Ev ]

It was like waking up from a heavy slumber, having all her memories and feelings rush back to her so suddenly, gasping in shock when they hit her like a ton of bricks. It felt like she'd just narrowly escaped being gobbled up alive, in a depressing presence that pushed and pushed and pushed. She had to gain her bearings a little, breathing a bit ragged as a hand placed to her chest to calm her beating heart.

But her eyes were distracted by the opened door, and the figure standing there before it. It was familiar, and made the ghoul step a little closer for a better look, uncertain if her eyes were playing tricks on her or not.

But they weren't.

Right before her stood a copy, that looked exactly like her own self that it made the normally calm ghoul widen her eyes slightly in surprise. That... was interesting. But... at the same time, she was more than curious at the sight before her. What should she say? what did one say to someone who looked just like them. And when the other spoke, it only made more curiosity swirl about her mind.

"You are my container? Just what does that mean exactly?"

But the copy just smiled, and gave a small cant to her head. "Exactly what it sounds like~" it replied pleasantly, happily.

Container. But what would she need a container for? was this creature apart of her since it held what she knew? Or was it simply injected with the knowledge? When it spoke again, for that brief moment, followed by a thrust of some sort of weapon. So swift, and sudden, that there was no time for a reaction, as the life was drained out of her body. A last breath given, vision closing to blackness.

[ Death Solo | Part 2 | VoiceofNature/Ev ]

Death really was a beautiful thing, to the one whose memory the replica held. Life and death both equal and valued in their own right, neither good nor bad, a neutral necessity for there to be balance. Such a curious ideal, the replica though, sifting through the various memories in which such instances had occured to lead VoiceofNature to that mind set. But perhaps it had already been there at the beginning, a simple seed, flourishing once acknowledged and cared for.

Smiling to itself, the replica watched the last of the remaining original disappear. Such a pity... but it had to be. This was the way it was supposed to play out. That was the only outcome that could possibly be less painful.

As the queen takes what she desires, the replica goes through those memories some more, the ones that remain until they slip away.

Such a pity... a beautiful life taken, when only barely unfurling the petals from the delicate blossom stage it was in. The core just barely starting to peek out. So ready it was to expand and reveal itself to a much brighter world, to absorb and grow, and continue shifting and spreading its roots deeper, and deeper. It truly was a shame. What a life it seemed to be, filled with unending possibilities, promise, and hope... how the replica wondered how it would be to experience that life. But even that was yanked away with the disappearing of those treasured, precious memories. Never to be seen again, or any more chapters added on. Forever it would be an incomplete book, sitting on the dusty bookshelf, never to be touched again, never to see the light of day. Would it decay and crumble? or stand the lengths of time, growing rigid and stiff?

Such a shame, such a shame, it truly.. really... was.

[death solo part 1 || RockerReaper ; Caiden Tsukino]

Rocker had been on the lookout for any other memories or reflections that would turn into people attacking him, somehow having managed to avoid his own reflection besides that first one. Then before he could blink, the rest of the mirrors shattered at the same time. He ducked and covered his eyes to avoid the shards of glass,

When the glass rain settled, he looked up again, trying to find his sister. That's when he saw them move. The replicas. They weren't dead, not really. They were getting back up. Of course they couldn't die, just like he couldn't die. This was a dream, a game. It wasn't real. It was, however, pretty ******** creepy.

He stared as the white queen started...melting into the floor, and fading. But the dream wasn't over yet. The white queen started extending those creepy, thorny vines at him and he wanted to back away but it was like he couldn't move. Then the vines formed a cage around him and he really was trapped. Trapped like a rat.

The end of his legacy? What did that mean? And then he was fading, getting smaller. "What the ******** are you doing to me? Stop it! They're not your memories, they're mine!"

But why should he fight? She was only going to win anyway. She was the White Queen. Clearly it would be better to just fade away, to go to sleep and not...wake...

SNAP

Immediately he came back to himself and wanted to fight the fading again. What the hell had he been talking about!? Letting go? ******** that! He had to live, he couldn't leave Cadence by herself!

There, behind the queen! It was a door! Could he get out that way? But how would he get out of this damned cage?

Yeah, no. There would be no going through that door. He could do nothing but stare as an army of replicas came out of the door.

And then there was him. Literally, the ******** puppet was him. And it had a death grip on his hands. "Let go of me!" he said.

In a voice that was painfully his own, the replica of him spoke. And it was possibly the most frightening thing he'd ever heard.

Before he could even say anything, the replica took out a weapon, his weapon, and ran him through with it.

Shockingly there was no pain, there was nothing but surprise and then....

[death solo part 2 || RockerReplicant ; Caiden Tsukino]

He watched as his original died. There was a swirling of emotions and memories inside him that was almost overwhelming. He turned to face the White Queen and felt...complete.

This was what he'd been created for. To hold the memories of his original, and to serve the White Queen. And now that his task was complete, his Queen would give him something else to do...right?

Wrong. He was fading. There was a choking feeling of fear that settled in when he realized he was fading just like his original. Grief was coming over him, as his short existence was ending.

And at the core of it all...

"Thank you...my Queen...."

[ Post 1 - Mimi Magloire ]

Usagi felt herself fading, but in the next moment, she was back, perfectly fine. Why was this? Had she accumulated enough points for a bonus life? But then... why was the boss...

She let out a cry as the cage surrounded her, fear settling in.
Was this... a sudden death match against the queen? But... but... this wasn't fair! Why... why did she have to...

Tears blurred her eyes, but then the cage suddenly shattered, and she heard a door open, lifting her head at the sound.
A gasp escaped her lips as she saw an army of soldiers march in. No, not soldiers. Them. The people all... looked like them?

Was this the bonus life they were given? Then, maybe...
Someone took her hand, and she turned to see an exact replica of herself, and beamed.
"Oh, thank you for coming! I-"

"I know everything."
"All your memories, everything you've gained in this dream. I am your container."

She frowned deeply.
"I don't... understand..."

The replica smiled back at her, but it was one devoid of emotion. Empty, and lacking.
"Thank you..."
Usagi's eyes widened as they raised the giant pocketwatch

"...and goodbye."

[ Post 2 - Replica: blanc_usagi ]

Only until they saw the other fall and disappear did they finally lower their weapon, and turned to face the queen.

"In dreams, new memories are created."

"You are these new memories, the container for the old. You were created just like me. Perfect containers, one day to be used and then discarded. It is okay to be a toy, we are all toys here. We all exist, just pieces of us, just barely enough. We are the sacrifice."

She understood this, but still tears flowed. She remembered when she first came here, remember how excited she was to begin her journey. There was so much to see, so much she experienced, and yet... none of this was her own. No, it didn't belong to her, but still... she...

The replica lowered her eyes as the cage wrapped around her, closing it as the door closed.

"This is the end of your legacy."
She felt bits and pieces of her fall away.
"This is the rebirth of Grief. I will take your essence, your memories and make them mine. You will stay. I will stay."

She shouldn't be afraid, shouldn't cry, and yet, she found herself doing so when the cage grew smaller and smaller. She was... going to die, wasn't she? She was going to die, and no one would remember her, because she wasn't important. She was... nobody.

She let out a soft bitter laugh as the cage completed its cycle.
Even if despair was all that awaited her in the end, she would continue to laugh. Keep smiling... despite it all.

After all... wasn't that what hope was for?

[ Post 1: Consumed ]

Phones didn't quiet understand what was happening until the cage started to close in on him. On them. He couldn't blame the person who had struck back at him, though he hadn't meant to attack them at all. Now, it seemed like it had all been useless anyway. His shoulders slumped and the frantic pace of the music pounding in his head and heart slowed. This was how it ended, huh? He knew that it was a dream, and yet this seemed all too real. Too final. If the queen trapped them here ... he would never wake again.

"You will stay. You will stay in this cage. Your existence, your memories, will contain my Grief."

Maybe that was better. He had seen in the mirrors things that could happen in his future. Only one had been ... good. The other visions had shown him trapped, or fighting with someone he was close to ... he didn't want to do that. Didn't want to be the person in those mirrors. And maybe, maybe he wouldn't have been. Maybe he would have been able to forge his own path, become a leader and change the beat of his world.

But more likely than not, it would have never happened. He'd just end up disappointed, and alone. Or taken by the humans in white and enslaved for who knew how long.

Perhaps this was better...

Snap

The cage was suddenly open, and he could see a door ... freedom. Life. Memories. He took a step forward, and then froze as the puppet army came through. Maybe ... it wasn't the way out?

Confused and unsure, his gaze darted from figure to figure - and jumped when his own hand was taken.

"Don't worry, I know all about it. Everything will be fine. I was made for this. Maybe you're made for something more."

Donovan blinked, staring at himself, at a painfully familiar wry quirk of the lips, swirling shadows in the eyes, a pale and gaunt face. "I'm your container. I'm here, so you can be free."

There's a slight pause, but Donovan didn't reply ... how could he? This was surreal and yet somehow, he understood. Words weren't needed, because the other, the replica, he understood.

"Thank you," the other said. "And goodbye." Then, the weapon was swinging toward his head, and the world exploded into white.

[ Post 2: Replica ]

As the other fell, "Donovan" sighed softly and looked up and around, seeing the others also completing their tasks. He hesitated only a moment, then moved toward the queen, no longer looking from side to side.

And he remembered. He heard again the voice that had spoken to him at the beginning, telling him what he was, what he was created to do. He hadn't understood what it meant then. He wasn't sure that he understood what it meant even now.

Yet, here he was. Here they all were. Their originals were dead, and they marched as one to the fate they had taken from them. Sacrifices. Created only to die.

"This is the end of your legacy."

His lips quirked. Yes... it was. A short legacy, but perhaps it was important still? Maybe his words to his original were true, that he was meant for something more. He had no way to know, no way to find out. He glanced down as his hands began to fade.

The memories of his original played in his head, as he relived them all in moments, instances of time there and then gone - as each was taken, ripped from him by the queen. Taken and taken and taken, until there was almost nothing left.

His last thoughts... it was better this way ... this was his purpose. And he could die content, with the hope that his sacrifice had not been in vain.

[ Part 1: Rhiannon/Briar_Rose ]

"You're welcome." Briar_Rose looked at the Cheshire Cat warmly, a genuine smile on her face. "Um, Miyu, I wanted to-"

And then:

Chaos.

It all started with a bang as the mirrors shattered one by one, the shards making a sound like crystalline rain as they crashed and pooled all around her the other players. The White Queen-- Grief -- seemed to be losing her power, as her once terrible form had begun to fade into the hungry dark. In a desperate move, Grief sent hundreds of thorn covered vines to surround each and every one of them and she was pulled away from her friend amidst the confusion. The vines only reached higher and higher, creating intricate designs until it had become a cage. The rose it seemed, had been trapped within its own thorns.

"You will stay..."

It was all Grief spoke of, how they all would be trapped here forever, living in an eternal nightmare... The walls of her cage seemed to be shrinking, getting smaller, and smaller, making her feel so helpless and alone...

Then they came, the multitude of puppets marching through the open door like hundreds of small soldiers. But there was something odd about them all-- they all looked like someone else, some she had seen on her journey, some fought with; other players... including her.

"I know everything, Rhiannon." Said her doppelganger in a voice that was exactly like her own. "All your memories, everything you've gained in this dream. I am your container." She said it with finality, in a happy lilt that was in characteristic of her.

"What are you talking about?" She couldn't help but be fearful of her mirror-image.

"That I wanted to say thank you," she said, reaching for the claw that Rhiannon herself had owned. Her doppelganger lifted it high it the air with deadly purpose, "and goodbye."

It was too fast for Ri to even register it. She could feel herself drift, her body suddenly weightless and tired as it dissipated into the darkness...

And then she was gone.

[ Part 2: Briar_Rose ]

Her original faded with a look of betrayal and confusion upon her face as she struck her with her weapon in a single, hard-hitting blow.

It was quick, she made sure of that.

"It's okay, my Other." Briar_Rose looked at the place where her huddled form had once been, pulling her claw from the thorns of the cage. "I was made to protect you from this fate."

She turned forward, answering the White Queen's silent call. The memories rushed to her in a steady stream, filling her with things she had experienced and ones that were completely new to her...

"In dreams, new memories are created," the all-knowing voice called to her incomplete form. "You are these new memories, the container for the old. You were created just like me. Perfect containers, one day to be used and then discarded. It is okay to be a toy, we are all toys here. We all exist, just pieces of us, just barely enough. We are the sacrifice."

The cage formed around her now, the vines closing in...

"There's so many trees here..."

"I'm Briar_Rose..."

"Glass. A greenhouse is made of glass."

And that's exactly what she was, a glass case made to protect the fragile rose.

"Well that's an improvement."

"I'm never using a gun again ."

"Is this really what I will become?"

"If this is dying, then I guess I'm okay with it." She watched as her cage became smaller and smaller, the thorns squeezing closer, threatening to overtake her...

"I will destroy you."

"I'm not afraid of the dark anymore."

"Please come back..."

"I will stay."

"Goodbye Rhiannon..." Her body was disappearing, fading into nothingness... Tears fell down her face as she remembered all that her original had seen and experienced, every action, every word, every thought etched into her being. She smiled sadly, knowing that this was what she was made for, who she had come to protect... There was only one thing she felt before she was taken by Grief:

hope.

"Stay strong."

[ POST 1: DEATH SOLO ] (VeryGrey/Xareoli)

She was still running and avoiding getting near any mirrors scared someone would crash through and hurt her. She was really sure she was going towards the Queen just as she wanted. She saw several others around her doing the same.

Suddenly all the mirrors shattered leaving nothing of them behind. She saw alot of other around her now. Some hurt, some looking scared or confused, some looking very serious and ready to battle. She saw however even more people on the ground motionless. Not doing anything at all till the all suddenly got back up somehow. Something happened to her too.

She was now suddenly trapped in a cage. A cage that was slowly getting smaller and smaller. "What is going on? Help! I - I don't want this!" She started to panic and felt she was slowly disappearing. Grief was consuming her. She felt so lost. She obviously lost this game. She could see parts of her fading away now. She was really sad it had to end like this. Even if it did go slow and painless.

Just as she thought she was going to completely disappear the cage suddenly shatters freeing her again. She quickly stands up again and slowly walks away from the Queen. This had been so close!

She stopped when she was the door open. An army filled with familiar creeple started to surround the queen. She looked at it really confused when she was gently grabbed at her arm by someone. She turned around to see herself. An completed replica of herself was standing there.

"I know everything," the other said in a voice exactly the same as her own. "All your memories, everything you've gained in this dream. I am your container." She stared at the replica slowly taking in what it just said. This was sounding ver interesting. Very interesting indeed. "Thank you," said the replica while drawing out an really sharp weapon. One she recognized. "and goodbye." the replica said. "What? Wait what are you doing? Stop!" The replica completely ignored her cries and stabbed her in the chest. "Why are you doing this?" She cried one last time and realized she didn't feel any pain. It was all happening quick and painless. She it was still very scary to have this happen to her and why?

She looked at the replica one last time and fell to the ground. She was nothing but an empty puppet now.

She faded away and was gone... forever?

[ POST 2: REPLICA ] (VeryGrey/Xareoli Replica)

The replica made sure her original was fading away when she finally took back her weapon. She was happy her other real self had looked into her eyes at least ones. She waited for her to be completely gone before she slowly turned around to face the Queen.

This was what she had to do and she was ready. Memories that were her own and also not her own started to flow now. She saw many different memories. Good and bad ones, memories that were confusing and ones that made perfect sense.

She was in the cage like the other had been in before and just like the one the real one was in it started to grow smaller. She was there to sacrifice herself for the original. The cage was almost complete and she started to fade away. The door she came from seemed to be gone but it didn’t matter. She wasn’t getting there anymore anyway. She was being consumed and was almost gone now. But this was why she was here she was here to spare the original and her task was almost done.

Fading away happened slow and painless. The cage was completed now and she herself was gone…

She completed her purpose.
