The stairs were endless and the woulds of the Voice had Temes rattled. the best thing she could do was try to keep climbing and see what awaited her at the very top.

Were the others there?

Also....her voice...really was gone this time. No stars, no moon - no sounds.

Nothing.

As he was startled back into reality again, Thackery stiffened up and squeezed Henry for dear life, legs tightening around him. He wondered if they might be able to take a break, just to sit a while, but wasn't sure how to get that request across without the ability to speak.

The Voice spoke in his place, of treading into disappointment, but he wasn't treading anywhere, he bargained. Therefore, he had found the loophole and would inevitably be the opposite of disappointed. Everything was well again!

Did she... want to know?
Was she ready for the truth?

Her mind said yes, but her heart said no.
She jumped as the voice spoke out again.

"Remember your Kingdom, and why you were created into this world. Without it you will be lost. Without it you will become discarded and thrown away. You are a fragment that I created. Without me, you will cease to exist in this world."

Silver... or Green?
Both were her home, though, she guessed now she was a silver once again.
She didn't want to be thrown away, but... was it really worth it to live a life of lies? To still exist even though nothing here was real?

No... that wasn't what she wanted.

They reached the top, and Ashford was beyond ready. Like, take the ready you say when the food is done, and the chicken is done cooking, and then you just leave it in the oven. For another hour. The charred sort of done, soot black and dry and not any good, that nothing can salvage. The king of done when you look at the misery you've created and dump it all in the trash.

Her work had barely begun when she heard the Voice.

"If you tread further, then you will see only disappointment." Her eyes began to roll, when she stopped, noting the sigh she heard. Was it all out of its huffing and puffing then? Replaced by exhaustion and resentment, Agsil had to admit some kinship with the Voice on that matter. She was sore, she was drained, and she wasn't sure she was ever going to see the end to all these blasted stairs.

She'd never let her feet touch the ground again after this if she could help it.

"I wish only for one True King. I do not wish for anything else. What will you gain from reaching me other than what you already know?"

"I will have closure." The response was instant, enough that it made her pause in her climb for a moment before continuing on. She hadn't realized she'd become so... accepting of things. Perhaps the climb had been therapeutic? "I will know the source, I will hopefully learn why I am here... and then I can just... go. Quietly. Without much choice, but for while I am here... it will be all I need."

The door was so very close, and...Henry was going in without him?

Not again.

Thackery had enough of Henry leaving him about 25 leavings ago. He stomped after him.

Temes tripped and fell, though thanks to her weight and the way her body was her falling had her tumbling forward up a few stairs.

She got up and looked around, dusting herself off before hoping that no one had seen it happen. Having no voice meant she couldn't have cried out and it also meant no one could laugh...but that didn't stop her from worrying someone was mocking her.
