(( I'm not sure why I rolled... habit I guess .___.;; ))
The girl's lavender gaze widened for a second before she smiled. What luck! They had come across a Growlithe! It was a strange Growlithe but nonetheless it was one of the pokemon she was looking for! It did seem to have a lot to say.
The Larvitar looked to the Growlithe curiously. It did seem a little strange, but he knew by the look in Riku's gaze that she wanted this pokemon as her own. ">The death was accidental.<" the Larvitar remarked to the strangely polite fire pokemon. ">We came seeking a new addition to our team for our mission to be complete. Would you be willing to join us?<"

">Well I dare say I'd hope...<" The Growlithe paused a moment ">...heavens ta Blissey! Straight to the point aren't ya old boy?<" He barked gruffly,tail swaying slightly ">Now why in Arceus name would I do a daft thing like that lad?<" The Growlithe tilted his head, quickly turning it back to it's normal position when his monocle began to slid.
>I've got everything I need right here wot!<" The Growlithe declared, gesturing to their surroundings ">Got ma territory just how I please. Got plenty oh vittles n' water. I'm the master of my domain wot!<" Again he tilted his head to the side as he began to ask a question, but quickly corrected the motion as he recalled the results of the last time ">What would I gain by following you lad! I'd have to toss my turf n' food aside, and I dare say that sounds like a pretty big loss to my wot!<"

The Larvitar knew that the Growlithe had a point and was curious as to why the other pokemon had paused for a brief moment, almost like he had something to say but hadn't said anything. Instead he reverted to informing the Larvitar of the benefits of why he liked living in the wild. It just seemed to comfortable of a life for the fire pokemon to want to live. Well it was true that the fire pokemon would lose his land, but if he was already the master of his domain didn't it mean there was no pokemon to challenge him? It seemed rather boring for a creature such as himself. ">Doesn't it get boring for you?<" Ryuu questioned. ">If you go with us, of course you'll have the basic necessities such as food and water along with terrain, however you also will come across many enemies like never before seen and a power that couldn't be obtained by staying here. You must be the master of this domain simply because there are none that can beat you. Doesn't that ever get boring not to have challenges anymore?<"

">Just how old are you lad? I thought only old codgers like ma self were supposed to repeat themselves so many times, wot!<" The Growlithe said with a husky chuckle. The Larvitar spoke as if he had many points, but really he just kept repeating the same one. Not exactly a convincing argument. ">What's wrong with boring lad? Such a rough ' tumble lifestyle is for the young<" The canine answered clearly, giving a faint nod ">I've fought plenty over the years to gain dominance here. I've earned my rest, wot.<"
The Growlithe turned, and slowly he began padding away...though almost as he had begun, the hound stopped mid-step and looked back ">Course I do miss the old days. Can't say I've never wanted to relive some oh ma glory years.<"
Abruptly, the fiery canine turned about-face ">Tell ya what lad<" He spoke, a faint gleam coming into his good eye ">Lets see if you can beat me in a duel. The master of the territory is always the strongest; and if that's you, well I don't have much reason to stay here now do I, wot?<" The Growlithe gave something of a smile, barring his fangs ">I'd normally recommend pistols at dawn; but that's a ways away, and sadly I like the opposable thumb required to actually activate such a device...so we'll just have to settle for the old fashioned way, wot!<"
Placing for paws together in front of himself, the Growlithe inhaled sharply, turning his attention skyward. Without much more warning then that, the aged hound let out an ear splitting Howl. It came as both his challenge, as well as his first move.

The Larvitar did look somewhat embarrassed. It was true that he had said the same things several times, accidentally of course. Only the old were supposed to say things repeatedly only because they didn't remember what they had said. Ryuu was still pretty young, age wise. As the Growlithe agreed to duel to decide what to do, the dirt eater was relieved. Trying to convince this pokemon to come with them had been a little frustrating and it really hadn't been going in either good nor bad direction. Battling against each other was something that was a much easier and normal way to settle things for both wild pokemon and pokemon that had trainers could all agree on. As the pokemon started off with a Howl, the Larvitar started backing away slightly trying to put some distance between himself and the fire pokemon.

((A note lass, when dealing with a none offensive move like Howl, you're supposed to do something to distract or otherwise break your opponents focus. Backing away or dodging isn't really gonna do jack to stop a Howl. It still fails because you out rolled me of course, but it sorta ruins the theatrics of it all.))
About mid-Howl the Growlithe began to slip out of tune, promptly coughing and hacking a moment after. He wasn't as young as he used to be, and doing that was a dreadful strain upon his weathered lungs. Heh, look at me! Thinking like some old coot. Never thought I'd see the day, wot! The hound thought idly as he lowered his head.
The move had sadly failed. Rather then invigorating himself with a battle cry, he'd only managed to remind himself of just how old he'd gotten.
Shuffling his paws slightly, the aged Growlithe brought himself lower to the ground. Growling up a storm, the canine kept both eyes trained upon his foe. It was a simple defensive stance, but it had proven it's effectiveness over the years. He could dodge at a moment's notice, rolling out of the way; or lower himself closer to the ground, cementing himself their to brace for any impact!

Ryuu had gotten lucky that the Growlithe managed to make his own mistake when Howling causing it to fail. The dinosaur pokemon had realized that he should've tried to distract the fire dog but it was too late to worry about that now. Listening to the growls from his opponent hadn't fazed him at all. Instead he charged towards the pokemon- preparing to Bite onto his opponent!

Nimble of paw even after so many years, the Growlithe did exactly as he'd planned and rolled out of the way. ">Is that all you've got? I say, if that's all you can dish out this will be a dreadfully short scuffle won't it, wot!<" He called out, sneering slightly as he back peddled slightly.
">Take a lesson from your elders lad, this is what a real Bite looks like, wot!<" Ryuu wasn't going to receive much more warning then that, as the Growlithe charged forward, fangs bared at his opponent. If the Larvitar didn't move quickly, not even his rocky hide would save him from the hound's attack!

The Larvitar looked a little annoyed, for some reason the older pokemon had managed to avoid his attack and so easily. As the Growlithe charged at him, something inside snapped. Oh, so it was going to be a contest between who had the stronger Bite? Ryuu didn't plan on losing as he charged in with another Bite attack, ready to prove how powerful his Bite really was! He wouldn't let some old pokemon make a fool out of him!

Growlithe HP: 0
With that single Bite, the aged Growlithe would pass out. He didn't grunt, nor growl, nor even whimper in pain. The hound simply fell over in a heap, eyes closed. The aged Pokemon had been defeated, knocked unconscious no less.
It was a total victory...and a significant problem. As every trainer new, Pokeball's didn't work particularly well on a Pokemon that had been knocked out.
Abruptly, the Growlithe's tail flicked. The beast stirred, if only for a moment. He was at the brink, the point between consciousness and slumber. It was a risky move...but perhaps, just maybe, if the girl threw a Pokeball the capture would succeed.
That was her choice to make however; though it was her Larvitar that would pay the price. A capture had a tendency to remove the glory of the defeat, making memories of the experience fleeting at best.

Riku had been watching the battle anxiously. As the Growlithe collapsed, she looked disappointed. But her violet eyes caught the movement of his tail and she looked up hopeful. Maybe there was still a chance to catch the Growlithe. Grabbing a pokeball, she tossed it directly at the pokemon. Would they finally have one of the pokemon she truly wanted on her team?
The Larvitar watched the pokemon wearily. There wasn't a high chance that the pokemon would suddenly rise, but there still could be a chance couldn't there? He watched carefully, ready to move if something should happen.

The PokeBall soared through the air briefly before coming into contact with the Growlithe's soft fur. What came next would be a bit of a shock to the girl...as the ball rolled off the canine's body and hit the sand below. It seemed at first the capture had failed; but then the Growlithe stirred once more, an action which seemed to make the ball react.
The capsule opened, causing a flesh of red light as it pulled the Growlithe inside. Lazily the ball rocked back and forth, until at last, a soft click, and the motion halted.
Riku had done it. She'd managed to capture the Pokemon.[RIKU CAUGHT A GROWLITHE!][Jingle~!]Growlithe [M]

Riku couldn't believe it! She practically jumped into the air happily, but of course that wasn't really physically possible for her. Instead the girl let out a happy girlish squeal and then leaned down and hugged her Larvitar. Picking up the Growlithe's pokeball, she then clipped it to her belt. There it was, one of the pokemon that she had been trying to obtain all along, a Growlithe! So far, their mission was a success! They had obtained two new pokemon and also the chrono stone. It was time to report back to the Professor, though who knew what he would say about the state she was in. The girl then headed back the way they had come, hoping it would be easy to reach the beginning.
The Larvitar padded alongside of the girl. His opponent hadn't been too difficult but in the long run, it was still a good battle. Ryuu glanced around occasionally, making sure that they wouldn't be taken by surprise. It was good to stay alert, just in case.

Far off and in the distance, a little Diglett lurked among the dunes. He shuddered once lightly. He had seen it all, the horrible scene. The carnage of it all! Though not as bad as the terrifying female he'd seen in the crater. Oh the chaos! Oh the havoc! Oh what a world, what a world!!!!
Shivering slightly, the Diglett zipped back into his hole. No, no way. He wasn't dealing with any humans so help him!

The girl was so focused on the ground in front of her that she hadn't noticed anything out of the ordinary. Instead she was just relieved when nothing tried to attack her or anything as she trekked along. Thank goodness. There in the distance, she could already see the ocean. They were getting closer and closer! Hurriedly, the girl tried to pick up her pace so that they could leave the island sooner.
The Larvitar thought he heard something behind of them. Turning, he glanced around but didn't spot anything. Seemed whatever it was had retreated and thus the pair could keep going forward.
