Joker shook his head. "Young lady, you must not let these things get to you. It's life. It's good and it's bad. Not one or the other. You know how many people are trying to kill me? I have the devil himself after me but he can't touch me." He twitched a few times. "That of course is not the point. I will say that if you leave now because of these enemies, you will leave yourself open for them and then....they won. You lost everything you acquired that is good now. Sure you lost alot. It happens. I lost alot that I never wanted to lose in the first place. Trust me. You don't want to end up like me." He twitched. One couldn't blame him. I wouldn't want to be like either, even though as the author I created him. "So. Dusk. What will you decide to do? Make it wisely. But know that no matter what, we are all here."

Looking slightly surprised, Dusk contemplated on what she did want to do. Would she run? Did she even want to run? Remembering the incidents a few years ago, Dusk shivered. It was so terrifying to even think about that, and even worse to think of all the things that drove her to it. Turning to Talon, she asked. "Hey...can you go roam for a little bit?" Nodding, Talon left the room, giving Dusk her privacy.
"I don't know what to do. I don't understand everything that's going on." Now facing Joker, she muttered. "I don't even know why you people are offering a shelter...you've met me once..."

"What's that saying about meeting someone the first time? Something about good impressions." He thought abit. "Ah well it's not coming to me. But the first impression you gave us was a good one. One meeting was all that made this shelter happen. Now. You don't know what to do. You don't understand what's going on. I think your not reading the manual clearly." He looked at her with his eyes lit. He had his way of helping people figure things out. Even though the other person had to figure it out with all the wiseman crap he was saying.

Dusk growled. "Reading a manual?" Glaring at nothing in particular, since she didn't want to anger Joker, she muttered, her voice low and deadly. "I've been screwed over by freakin everyone, what is there to think about?! If I'm not around, not only am I protecting myself, I'm getting out of the way of everyone else. What is there to think about? Honestly?" Dusk had to have her arms by her side, her nails digging into her palms.
"And first impressions are nothing to go by. A first impression can easily be a ruse, as it normally is. There is no manual to life, Joker. All there is is just a hand that you had been dealt, and what you do is put up a poker face and get through life. The more chips you get, then the better off you are. But, when you gain the chips, people come after you to get them back. Life is hell with no manual that make people attack their own family because of pathetic mistakes."
She knew that she was ranting, but Dusk couldn't help it. Years of abuse, years of being the one spat on and having to either fend for herself or beg for support made Dusk finally lose it. In fact, Dusk was doing a very good job in not attacking Joker, seeing as she had a history of attacking people who tried to help her.

Joker smiled. "I don't know. You just explained the instruction to me but your not seeing the fine print clear enough." He looked at her closely. "You just ranted exactly what you don't understand. You do things because of them. Just like you do things for those you love. You over look the people around you. What was your impression of us? Of Kyoshi? Of everyone else your close with? Poker has nothing to do with life. It's all in a good hand of dice. Or Craps. That's a great game. Just like the game, only once and once only will you ever roll snake eyes. The rest are free game on how you make it. Keep believeing that your in the everyones way and one day they will tie you down and let you have a lecture." He tilted his head to the side. "You just need to clear up your understanding and figure out what to do. Just remember that everyone makes a million decisions a day. Only one of them make an impact on whether or not they open doors or close them."

Now Dusk glared fully at Joker, twitching slightly. "Ok. I don't understand this at all. Happy? I fully admit that. Now, since you seem to know more about this than I do, which honestly I wouldn't be surprised, tell me this. The longer I'm around someone, the more at risk they are at being killed by either the Hunters, the Collectors, or anyone of my....half of my race. So, wouldn't it make more sense to avoid more casualties than necessary? Why hurt others when me just going back to the Ellwood would hurt only me?"
Dusk despised that place, but that seemed to be the only thing that would solve her main issues. Yes. That would mean leaving behind those that she loved, but most of them dealt with things like loss on a daily basis. The others would live.
But Kyoshi? She tore the thought out of her mind, not wanting to think about that, knowing that any thoughts of him would reduce Dusk to a quivering child, crying in front of Joker.
And that was something that Dusk would not allow.

"It would make sense. In a mad sort of way. Or maybe that's because I mad." He looked at his hands. "Who are you to decide for them? They made there choice to be with you just like those enemies chose to come after you and they chose to seek your death. Fine. It's just like the rest of us. We chose to help you. You put them even more at risk if you weren't around. If you were gone, those enemies will have reason to kill us all because we with hold information about you. If you stay, then you have a better chance to live. You have a better chance to defeat all forces. And you get to live a somewhat normal life with your loved ones. At least you made your own family of rough and trouble making people who would go to the ends of the earth for you." He looked up at Dusk. "What do you get out of hurting everyone if you weren't in there lifes everyday? You will be with the knowledge of hearing that Kyoshi had to be put down because of his awesome powers to try and get to you. You will know the knowledge that my crew is either in jail or dead because we wanted to fight for something that is right. Or the knowledge of everyone living day by day in grief? Kyoshi will smoke until there's no tomorrow and the rest will take vices, leading to a destructive path that when you least expect it, madness sets in. Then insanity. And then...." Joker stopped. Maybe he was getting to far in this. He had no right to rant himself.

Dusk stood up having to do something before she choked the life out of Joker. "I never asked for their interference!" Her eyes were clamped shut, voice finally raised. "I warned every single person that had come into contact with me, or I had told them to just forget it! It was there fault for still trying to fix what they can't!" Dusk wasn't talking about now anymore, she was talking about the incident years ago. Her memories, suppressed before, were now taking over.
"He didn't have to help me, he didn't have to fight for me. I told him that he would get hurt, just like I told her! They didn't listen, and I can't fix that!" Dusk's body was shaking, partly in rage, but also in some other emotion. "I don't care what happens to me...that's why I don't want you guys in this..." She finally broke.
"Kyoshi...he should never have helped me...if he wouldn't have...then none of you guys would be in this..." She knew that that was a lie. Somehow they would be in something similar. "Even if I did leave...I'm not important enough to destroy someone's life over..."

"I see." He just looked at her calmly not one bit angry at her now explosive emotion or really concerned that she might choke the life out of him. "You know. If you tell someone not to do something they are always going to do the opposite. It's in our natures as living beings. No one is asking or wanting to fix the past. If we could, I wouldn't be here. I would be with the family that I lost. I would be a father by now. Kyoshi would be a manager of a warehouse or still in heaven next to his master. Gambler would have been happy with the man she fell for. Everyone of us would be happy and all this," He waved his hand around. "Wouldn't exist. Only peace. You can't control the actions of others and nor can they control yours should you let them. But you can't and won't." He clasped his hands together. "Kyoshi loves you. I can see it. If you weren't important, then you would be out there already in the hands of the enemy."

"Why though?!" Finally turning to face Joker, Dusk his sadness and pain with anger and rage. "I'm not that important! I don't understand how he even cares about me! I've been an absolute brat to him!" Dusk knew that you couldn't control the past or the actions, but it didn't mean that she had to accept the outcome.
"I don't understand how someone who gives you so much trouble can be counted as something to love." Again, her memories were overcoming her, making her sadness greater, so Dusk increased the anger. the girl knew though that this facade wouldn't last for long. No longer was she talking about Kyoshi and Joker and Gambler, but she was speaking of Talon and Elianna.
"I just don't understand...."

Joker got up and pulled Dusk into a tight embrace. "There will always be things you can and can't understand and understanding why someone loves you is one of them. You can never question someone on there reasons to love someone. I used to know love once, even though I twitch and do things of madness. But she loved me without restrain. I love Gambler because of the way she is. We all do. She loves us because of the way we are. It's nothing carnal. It's a family-like love but with people who are insane. At least I'm the insane one." He stepped back and sat down with his hands folded together. "Those in your past, present and future will love you because of the way you are. Your one of a kind and they can identify themselves with you because of it." He wasn't talking about him, Kyoshi and the rest. He was talking about in general. He looked at her calmly.

(Tch, it's fine. Awesome, really.)
To say that Dusk was surprised didn't give the emotion justice. When the girl looked at Joker, she didn't know what to say. Finally, she just looked down and shrugged. "I don't care about your twitching...kinda amusing...I'm not gonna lie, it really is..." A smile was finally gracing her features.
Talon was walking, wondering really, around the house. Dusk was the only one that the pyro listened to, and if anyone else had told him to roam some stranger's house, he would have flicked them off and told them to go eff themselves.
"I guess that's what love will do to you..." He muttered.

"Well I'm glad that you find that amusing. Others are scared or creeped out. It makes me feel good that you don't care about my twitching." Speak of the devil he twitched a few times and then calmed down. "Soooo. Are you feeling better in letting some of the pent up energy out? If not, then please continue. It will help you." He smiled.

"I'm fine...or at least I will be." She looked at Joker and tried to smile again. "I just don't know what to do. I know that if I go back to Ellwood, Kyoshi will be left alone by quite a few people that I now know are after him, Mist will be a lot safer, Ziggy won't have to cover me all the time and Talon...Talon won't... he won't have to be a scapegoat for me." Dusk was close to Talon, very close. She actually didn't know who she really cared about more, him or Kyoshi.
That could cause problems later, but she refused to think about that right then.
"I don't care what happens to me as long as others are safe...well, as safe as you can get in this hellhole."

Joker frowned inwardly. He noticed a delima that he wouldn't comment on because that was one thing she needed to figure out herself. "Come sit down and let's think this through. But first...Would you like a drink?"
