Well, at least Lucine and Daybreak could agree on one thing: the Rockets must be turned over to justice for this travesty of science. Another super pokémon… as if just the mewtwos weren’t enough! And what were they hoping to get from this little group anyway? She nodded at the espeon’s comment and closed the book with her paw. It was best not to think about such negative things and just focus on getting them all out safely, humans and all.
The smell? It really was awful… Lucine thought about it, trying to figure out a way around it. Sweet scent! Yes. That was the way around it! Eevees normally didn’t know such attacks, but a mewvee… well, apparently pink mewvees did know the attack. A soft smell billowed out, pervading the room.
“…Excuse me.”

Zyk stopped shaking and edged away from the misdreavous. Never go looking for sympathy from a ghost type, he admonished himself. He took deep, steadying breaths to calm himself. They wouldn't kill a human, Zyk told himself. That's murder. They can kill pokemon and call it abuse, but it's still not as serious as a human killing a human. Plus, Zinnia is on Team Rocket... Once she explains to them and shows them identification, she'd go free... Zyk tried to smile, using these thoughts to buoy his spirits.
It didn't work.
Who am I kidding? he asked himself forlornly. Zinnia didn't bring any identification to be safe in case the camp checked her... Well, how were we supposed to know the camp was run by Rockets?!

Merlin turned to Daybreak. "Well my hair was singed because of all that. Thank goodness I'm a ghost and didn't get caught in your explosion! At least I can pass through some things...
The Misdreavus then turned his attention to the sobbing Zubat. "I'd like to help... but I don't see how I can. In any case, these Rocket buffoons seem to be more the Pokemon torturing type than the killing type. I'm sure your trainer is alive, if horribly mutated.((Merlin, you FAIL))

Zyk's mouth fell open. His body went limp, wings hanging uselessly at his sides, though his brain was going into overdrive. Grotesque images of Zinnia that would make anyone scream popped into his mind (in black and white) and his panic reached the highest level.
The tiny zubat wobbled, then fell over in a faint. It had been too much for him and his vivid imagination.

Sniff.
Sniff-sniff.
Dakota's tail nub wagged a bit as the bad smell went away. She grinned while still holding onto her pillow as trotted into the room. It might have been a bit late, but now she looked around for the source of the crash.
However, it wasn't very evident as to what caused the noise. She was just about to ask, when she noticed something.
New Pokemon! With a big puppy grin, she began to sniff the other Pokemon, starting with the pink Eevee.
"Hi there!" she greeted as she pushed her nose (and indirectly her pillow) against the normal-type.

Merlin looked at the fainted Zubat. "What?!" He exclaimed, sounded somewhat offended, "At least she'd be alive! I was joking about the mutations! Worst I can imagine would be eye color change or ears like yours! That would be ok, right?" Merlin was obviously not skilled in social interaction.

Suddenly, Lucine’s world was filled with fur, a big downy pillow, and a very energetic puppy. Well, this was nice! Other pokémon hadn’t been so willing to play with her. Of course, the place was a little… well… awful for playtime. The death stench was mostly gone for the time being, but it would return. But the feeling was still there, the simple knowledge that so many living creatures had suffered here… it weighed heavily on the sensitive Lucine.
Well, it was time to focus on the good things. In an attempt to get the pillow out of the way, she bit down on it and tugged. Of course, the tiny eevee couldn’t match strength of a growlithe, so this maneuver didn’t go over too well.

The puppy Pokemon's brown eyes widened a bit. This other Pokemon had latched onto her pillow. That meant it was time to play, right?
Her nub wagged even harder than it had been before, and she bared her teeth in a friendly gesture (though it frequently was mistaken for the opposite). She let out a playful growl and began to tug back towards the entrance she had just come in through.
OH HOW FUN IT WAS TO PLAY TUG, OH YES!

Lucine let out a muffled yip as the growlithe on the other end of the pillow pulled more. The mewvee dug in her claws and attempted to stop herself from moving, but it really was a lost cause. Slowly and inexorably, Lucine found herself being hauled outside of the Death Room. Not that she fully minded being out of the room, of course. At least it meant that the feelings were lessening; there was no longer that sense of doom, gloom, and a great many other ‘oom’ words over her fluffy little head.
With a soft playful growl of her own, she shook her head, trying to gain some sort of advantage. Now that the oppressive feelings were gone, it was easier to just relax for a moment. At the very least, it was something for them to do.

Oh, her opponent was a feisty one! Dakota's head jostled around in a near empty manner when the pink opponent shook her head, but no damage had been done. Once more she growled out playfully before resuming the game.
The black Growlithe clearly had the upper hand, so she wouldn't have to rely on her usual "dead weight" strategy of just laying on the ground and letting gravity take care of the tugging for her. Instead, she actually pulled back, yanking her head in the direction she wanted the pillow to go.
However, pillows were only so strong as a tug-toy. If things quieted down, the opponents could hear the threads slowly snapping under the stress.

Dodger was sitting back from everyone, still very confused about the pokemon around him. The rockets had always been his friends, but these pokemon were fighting against the rockets weren’t they? So didn’t that make them the bad guys here? They didn’t seem bad to him though…it was all very confusing.
Out of the corner of his eye he caught sight of the black Growlithe playing tug of war with another pokemon and his eyes lit up as he trotted over to observe. His head tilted to the side as he watched the game being played in front of him. It looked like fun. Why hadn’t his rocket friends ever played games with him like this?

What fun this was! After all of the stress of battling and dealing with the angst of losing her human and then reading those horrible, awful words in that journal, Lucine was glad for a bit of playtime. It was a very welcome change, even if, in the back of her mind, she knew it would have to end. Her claws scrabbled on the ground, trying to find a purchase that wasn’t there.
The pair had just left the Death Room when the pillow suddenly ripped apart in an explosion of feathers. It was actually rather pretty, watching the feathers slowly drift down like autumn leaves. This was of little comfort to little Lucine who, as according to the laws of physics, went tumbling backwards as Dakota’s force suddenly vanished. The tools on the table clattered as the mewvee slammed into a table leg, leaving her slightly dazed. In true form, though, she got up again, shook her head, and bounded after the feathers, trying to catch one.
If she was going to have fun, darn it, she was going to have fun! She yipped a few times at the poochyena, inviting him to play. "Come on! Help me catch the feathers!"

Merlin's eyes widened as a feather drifted across his face. In a moment of total lack of dignity, he sneezed, sending himself flying backwards through the mewvee, growlithe, and pochyena, eventually slamming into a wall.

A feather tickled Zyk's face, causing him to wake up. He wobbled and clambered to his feet. He felt too weak to fly, so the walked clumsily away from the rowdy canine trio-- wait, canine? There was a mew there, judging by the shape, which was similar to Shadow Mew's. Hm. Guess the mew had transformed to be an eevee. Unsurprising, since most would be startled to see a legendary in the camp...
Unconcerned about the mew, Zyk waddled away, wondering if the trainers would be found soon or not. And if Zinnia really was now a lumpy monster with hands growing out of her skull... No, don't think that... She was fine. Stupid ghosts were all liars and pranksters, anyway.

One moment, the puppy Pokemon was pulling with all her might, then next moment, the puppy had tumbled backwards. Letting out a yelp, she bumped into the wall. Blinking a few times, she shook her head a bit, then looked back to where she had been.
Now that she was no longer concentrating on Tug, she managed to notice something.
"Oh, HI, I SAW YOU BEFORE! LET ME SMELL YOU!!" Dakota barked out upon spotting one of the Poochyena from the day before. She didn't wait for a yes, but immediately zipped over and began sniffing him. She sniffed the front, the back, and even his sides. Oh yes, she remembered this smell. It belonged to her friend (who probably wasn't aware he was Dakota's friend).
