 Indeed, true, that it is pointy, but a sword it isn't. As with all the other incarnations and variations of the keyblade, Sora uses the part with the frufy little spikes sticking out the side as the edge side. Not only do the various frills and points not make it much of a sword at all, but it actually appears to be the freakish love child of a hatchet having recently mated with a saw. It has no cutting or stabbing value, and could only accurately be used to pound the ******** out of someone until the police arrived or until they bled to death from many traumatic lacerations to the everything. And from what I can see, the hand guard would shatter on the first contact with anything harder than Donald's defense score.

Actually, the ultima weapon is some flowery thing with gilded edges and needles poking out all over... or at least as I remember from the first one. Something that would bend to ******** all over if you actually hit something with it.
It's topheavy, which means that it can only be used for hacking, not swordplay.
And the handle, while a guard if it were only on one side, is blocking the place where you need to put your wrist on the other side. If you hold it wrong you ******** your wrist up when you hit something because you've got to bend it at an awkward angle. If you try and hold it straight, you'll be hitting with an angled blade that won't cut into anything.
And that's assuming it IS a blade. Otherwise you've just got yourself a big metal club.

*Points at the picture.* What would happen if you swung that thing at something? It wouldn't go in. It's got a bunch of little 'teeth' that would catch on anything it's trying to cut. You'd get a bunch of shallow stab wounds, but no cut. Like swinging a hacksaw at someone. It'd leave a nasty surface wound if you jerked it real hard after it hit, but it wouldn't get any depth and you can absolutely forget about it going through armor unless you're trying to poke a small hole.
All in all you've got a spiked club, not a sword. It can be a nasty weapon if used right, but using it as if it were a sword is definately not the way to do it.

I just think the sword's magic gives it that sharpness it needs. When he attacks, it most likely forms itself around the blade in an aura shaped as a blade and enhances it. As for the blade's design, it isn't really tactical, but for the simple fact that it's a video game and being Kingdom Hearts, style was emphasized. So, my only theory is that magic allows it to cut like any other keyblade. And also, the gameplay shows him only wacking at enemies as if the blade was a club. So I take it that the keyblade indeed wasn't suppose to cut at all, but still the reference of "blade" is to show that it is a weapon of sword-like design but the shape of a key to be used for story purposes. And the game is designed with Disney characters in it, so kids are going to play it. They just needed an excuse to not show blood, I bet. >.> I could come up with a more suited keyblade, whenever I get the chance to draw it. So far, I guess one of the best designed weapons in terms of causing any cutting would be OathKeeper.

Sadly, yes. sad But that's the only thing that is keeping my character from getting seriously injured in that match in GTB. I just need to get Genshin off guard and juggle him the right way. And I know just how to do it, too. whee
