How about, bass clarinet is a reed instrument, not brass?
Brass instrument are defined by the fact that they are made primarily out of brass, and that the mouthpiece requires your lips buzzing. In a bass clarinet, the instrument's body is made primarily out of wood and the buzzing comes from a reed on the mouthpiece.

wooo!! trombones!! i kind of want to play other low brass...but since i never learned valve instruments...but yeah. trombones are cool. they get lotsa melodies. xD

I play 1st trombone, 1st baritone (regular and marching), and tuba and sousaphone. then i play a bunch of percussion instruments lol

Im psyched there's so many trombones!! It makes me happy.
So we were playing Green Onions in jazz band today, and Im 2nd trombone, but our 1st never showed up, so I had to take the really up and down solo.
It was intense, but I had fun.
