Emerging onto Route 31, Ben searches for the bug-catcher he'd met the night before. "Hmm... He said he'd be around here, somewhere..." Walking quietly through the tall grass, he stops and scratches his head a bit, looking at Pichu. "What do you think, Pichu? Do you think he got scared?" Ben laughs with his Pichu, the familiar sight of a bug net appearing before him while the bug-catcher runs out of the bushes, panting a little and grinning. "Sorry I'm late! I was this close to catching a Kakuna..." Straightening up, he holds out his pokeball with a big smile. "But I'm ready! My name is Wade." Nodding and smiling, Ben looks to Pichu on his shoulder. "My name is Ben, and this is Pichu." He grins a bit. "It's showtime, buddy." Pichu hops down to the ground, spinning a little and hopping up and down. "Pii! Pii! Pii!"

The bug-catcher laughs a little, his head tilting with confusion at the Pichu's behavior. "What a cute baby pokemon. Hope he can fight!" With that, he tosses his first pokeball. "Go! Caterpie!" The Caterpie appears, rearing up to make itself look taller and sounding off a strange sounding battle cry, Ben's face looking a little creeped out. "... Bugs..." Laughing a little, he points and commands his Pichu, "Go! Let's do it! Pichu, give it a Tail Whip!" Pichu runs toward the little caterpillar pokemon, spinning and lashing out his tail.
=======================================================
Wade wasn't about to let that happen. "Caterpie, String Shot!" Without hesitation, the Caterpie shoots out a spray of sticky string, coating Pichu's tail so that it's impact is much slower, giving Caterpie time to crawl away.
=======================================================
Pichu lets out a startled cry, his movement a little off balance because his tail is weighted down. Ben clenches his fists. "It's alright, Pichu, it can't evade your Thundershock!" Pichu nods as his cheeks start to spark, a stream of electricity unleashing toward the bug. "Piii!!"
=======================================================
Wade looks on with shock as his Caterpie gets fried, gulping a little. "Caterpie, Tackle it while you still have strength left!" The Caterpie turns around and charges for the Pichu as fast as it can go, its movements obviously labored.
=======================================================
Pichu's tail weighs him down, and he doesn't have time to react before he is hit with the Tackle and knocked backward, shouting out a little before getting back onto his feet and looking at the Caterpie -- Ben looking, too, in shock. The Caterpie's body seemed to really be struggling now, to even move a little bit. It was paralyzed. He looks to Pichu with wide eyes. "Did you do that, Pichu?" Pichu blinks and looks down to his staticky fur, bouncing excitedly. "Pii! Pii! Pii!" Ben laughs a little and nods. "Awesome! Hit it with one more Thundershock while it can't move!" Pichu stands still, his cheeks buzzing as he shouts and lets loose another shocker.
=======================================================
Wade looks on in horror as his Caterpie is hit again, its body ceasing to struggle as it falls unconscious. Sighing, Wade pulls his Caterpie back in. "Good job, Caterpie. You put up a good fight."

Grinning slightly, he looks back up at Ben. "You know, Caterpie isn't my only Pokemon. Are you ready for round 2?" Chuckling, he lets loose another pokeball. "Go, Metapod!" Ben looks on with anticipation as the Metapod is revealed, looking much sturdier and heavier than the Caterpie. He looks at Pichu with a quiet swallow. "... You think you can hack it, Pichu?" Pichu looks up, obviously getting tired but nodding slowly. "... Pii." Ben nods, looking back to the Metapod. 'Pichu's Tail Whip is out of the question... and that Pokemon doesn't look like a Charm would work on it... The only option is Thundershock...' Ben knew what he had to do. "Pichu, give it all the juice you got! Thundershock!" Pichu nods, clenching its small fists while it lets loose a heavy stream of lightning. "PIII!!!"
=======================================================
Wade starts to sweat. "Metapod, use Harden!" The Metapod's body glimmers slightly as its shell gains more toughness, even as the electricity surrounds it. But how long could he keep it up?
=======================================================
Ben swallows as Pichu continues the attack. He knew that his electricity would soon fizzle out.. What could he do? He gasped as the electric attack suddenly stopped, Pichu collapsing with heavy, panting breaths, his cheeks all fizzled out. His eyes worried, he looks back up at the Metapod, whose shell is charred, but intact as it stands still. Ben hangs his head slowly. "... You win, Wade... Your Metapod is too tough."

Wade grins slowly. "Awesome! Great job, Metapod!" He recalls it quickly, then runs over to Ben and Pichu. "Hey, it looks like you need another trip to the PokeCenter." Ben nods slowly, picking up his weakened Pichu. "Yeah... I'm sorry, Pichu..." Pichu looks up at his trainer, curling into his chest and nuzzling as if to let him know that it's alright. Ben smiles sadly. "You did a great job, Pichu. I know you gave it your very best." Turning quietly away from the bug-catcher, Ben walks with his Pichu back toward the PokeCenter, vowing to himself that he would train even harder to beat Wade's Metapod.

Raimundo stared at the Dragonite which stood before him, a curious expression on his face. "Well," he said after a few moments of silence, "this certainly does make things more entertaining. Or at least, I hope it will. After all, just because Krystal evolved doesn't necessarily--"

Whitney, who had been entirely quiet for the duration of the battle, let out a sudden shriek of joy; she bounded over to the Dragonite, wrapping her arms around the Pokemon. "Oh my gosh, Krystal!" she squealed. "I can't believe it! You-- you finally evolved, after all this time! I can't believe it, you're so cool-looking and you're so big, and, and-- ah!"

Whitney's sudden hug almost caused the dragon to topple over; Krystal wasn't used to these "leg" things just yet. She wiggled her arms a little bit, not really used to them either, but when she realized what they were for she leaned down and hugged the Gym Leader, letting out a funny little baroo! kind of noise, unintentionally wagging her tail as well. As she hugged Whitney, however, she shifted her gaze to Nina.

The girl had her arms crossed over her breasts, a satiated expression on her face as she looked to her newly-evolved Pokemon. "This has certainly been a long time coming, hasn't it?" she asked, a smile forming on her lips. As that smile manifested, it caused Nina's hair to revert from black to its natural color; her eyes changed back, as well. Within a moment, the girl approached her Pokemon, embracing her into a hug as well; this was one of the proudest moments of her life. All the work that she had put into raising Krystal had finally reached fruition, and it felt as though it took so very, very long. That didn't matter, though, because in this moment, Nina knew that everything had finally paid off, that everything was worth it-- all the lost battles, all the times she had questioned her abilities as a Trainer, all the times she got frustrated with herself. All those things were so far away now, and the true evidence of her prowess stood before her, in the form of a six-foot-tall dragon.

Sabrina watched from where she stood, a smile on her face. She remained silent.

Raimundo, on the other hand, couldn't have cared less if he tried. "This is all so very touching," he said in a terrifically bored voice, "but in case you've forgotten, I'm trying to destroy you. Whaddaya say that we get back to the action, hm?"
Nina poked her head out to look at her adversary. "Oh, right, the battle-- the battle between you and my sister and I, the battle where Sabrina might have just murdered your girlfriend's Pokemon, the battle where you're trying to reclaim your worth as a man by picking on a group of girls. That battle?"
"Yes, that battle!" Raimundo screamed. "Now, enough of this and let's get back to business!"
Nina supressed a laugh by snorting, letting go of Krystal in the process. "Jeez, no need for yelling." She reclaimed her position next to Sabrina, Kyrstal following, and watched as Whitney went off to the sides.

"Now, let us see-- whose turn was it?" Sabrina asked. "Nina, I do believe that causing Krystal to evolve during the midst of battle would technically be considered your turn. Excellent decision, by the way-- it's as if you've taken a page from my own book."
Nina waved a dismissive hand, chuckling. "I don't know what you're talking about-- honestly."
Raimundo watched as the girls chatted; his right eye began to twitch and his fists were clenched at his sides so tightly that his veins within them began bulging out a bit. "Enough!" he hollered, becoming increasingly more furious at how the girls were being so dismissive of him. "Since neither one of you useless whores are going to do anything, then I will! Typhoon, I want you to destroy them with every ounce of your power! Use an Outrage attack!"

No sooner had Raimundo issued his command did the Kingdra's body begin to glow in a red aura; his eyes turned red as well, signifying the fury that was building up within him. The Pokemon looked to each of its opponents for a moment-- should it attack Oracle? Maybe Krystal instead? But then again, that Alakazam did prove to be a problem with Phoenix...

Within a few moments, Typhoon found himself overwhelmed with rage and stopped contemplating which of the two Pokemon it should attack. It shot towards Krystal with a tremendous speed, and a matching power to boot. Without wasting any time, the Dragon-type prepared to smash into its opponent, certain how badly he would be able to harm her with this attack.

Krystal, however, had other plans. When Typhoon was within striking distance, she reached her new arms outward and grabbed the dragon mid-rush; she squeezed her arms around its body rather tightly, fighting against his resistant thrashing, doing the best she could to retain her own sense of balance. Her grip tightened greatly and the issue of balance soon became a thing of the past; when she felt as though she had Typhoon right where she wanted him, she bent over backwards, slamming the smaller dragon's head directly into the earth. Not missing a beat as her adversary was now upside-down and had half of its body buried beneath the soil, Krystal quickly whirled around and slammed her tail into the Kingdra's body with the force and the precision of a professional golfer teeing off.

And, just like a golfer, she watched as the struck object flew off into the distance, seeming to shrink as it got farther and farther away.

'Now that's more like it,' Jasper thought, noting that Paras looked a helluva lot more confident now than he usually did. He also thought that perhaps the Mushroom Pokemon was at a higher experience level than Bird Keeper Rod's Hoothoot, which would help things considerably. The owl could barely stand up due to its paralysis and both Jasper and Rod knew that this battle was more than a little one-sided, even with Paras' severe type disadvantage. The green-clad youth looked forward, feeling surprisingly confident himself. Soon he'd be facing Falkner, and not long after that, he'd be walking out of here with his first badge. While Jasper was lost in his thoughts, however, Bird Keeper Rod decided to take advantage and order yet another Peck. His Hoothoot managed to right itself and rocket forward by springing off one foot, driving its beak into a surprised Paras.

Jasper winced, feeling a tad embarrassed as it was twice now that his own hesitations had cost his Pokemon. He had to get it together, as he had no plans to lose to this kid. Even with the level difference, that attack looked like it had hurt a lot, and for a moment Jasper worried Paras would freak out and try to run away. However, Paras had seemed to have found his big-boy pants for the time being, as despite the ridiculously super-effective hit, he scuttled forward and delivered another Scratch attack. This would prove to be the deciding blow as the paralyzed owl gave a weak hoot and slumped over. Paras inched closer to his fallen opponent, and Jasper had to hold back surprised laughter - was Paras actually growling? The boy adjusted his bandanna and stepped forward. "Is that it? Are we done here?" he asked, planting his hands on his hips. He liked this feeling of superiority, but he knew better than to let it go to his head.

The annoyance was clearly written all over the Bird Keeper's face as he recalled his owl, and he glared daggers at Jasper. "Yeah, it's over, you win," he grumbled.

"Okay then, good," Jasper nodded, recalling Paras before the mushroom could start frothing at the mouth. "So like, take me to your leader, or whatever. That was the deal, right?"

Rod's glare didn't soften. "You're kind of a jerk, you know that right? Just keep going, you'll find him."

Jasper gave a curt nod. "Yeah, sometimes," he admitted, giving the kid a bit of a salute as he passed by. 'I may be a jerk, but at least my name's not Rod.'

Hayley's excitement over Cynder's evolution hadn't waned in the slightest as she darted into the Pokemon Center, the Pikachu now perched somewhat contentedly on her shoulder. The newly-evolved Charmeleon trudged along behind them, clearly exhausted but absolutely refusing to be recalled into his Pokeball. As Team Hayley approached the front desk, however, Cynder relented and she placed her four Pokeballs on the desk as she waited politely for the nurse to notice her.

"Hello, would you like me to treat your Pokemon?" she asked cheerfully.

"Yes, please!" Hayley said, nodding eagerly. "And this Pikachu, too. She's not mine, but we got into a bit of a tussle with some very angry Beedrill and I just want to make sure she's fit as a fiddle before we take her back. The mouse nodded along with the brunette's explanation, though she'd hardly call the incident a 'tussle'. Life-or-death struggle seemed a lot more accurate. Regardless, the nurse took Hayley's Pokemon plus one off for their much-needed treatment and the brunette allowed herself to relax. She hadn't been out on the road for very long but her first few days had already been pretty hectic. She got herself a bottle of water from the vending machine and found a comfy beanbag chair to plop down in, and though she was tempted to do some sketches she found that she was just too tired, so instead she picked up a newspaper and began to thumb through it. Even Pokemon Watchers liked to be caught up on current events.

Back at the PokeCenter, Ben handed over his Pichu once again with a sheepish smile. ".. He got hurt again..." With a small smile and shake of her head, the nurse takes his Pokemon and sends it away to the healing station. ".. You might want to give it a bit of a rest... It is still in its baby stage, and not very strong..." Ben looks up with a slightly betrayed expression, then back down with a slow sigh and a nod. He knew that his Pokemon may not be strong right now... But he also knew that his Pichu had a strong heart, and would work very hard. And in his eyes, that more than made of for his lack of power.

While his Pichu was being healed, Ben decided to go and have a rest in the Trainer's Lounge, contemplating ways in which his Pokemon training might be more efficient. And how could he beat that Metapod....?

A little waiting, and Ben's Pichu was right as rain again. He smiled as the nurse returned his Pokeball, and he released the Pichu before quietly clipping it to his belt and turning to leave again with a "Thank you" to the staff. Once he was back outside, he took in a deep breath of the mid-morning air, already starting to warm up. For some reason, it filled him with confident energy, and he chuckled and punched a fist into the air. "Yeah! We're gonna get stronger and nobody can stand in our way!" Laughing, he takes off at a run deeper into the city, pausing with a slight gasp when he sees an impossibly tall building at the other side of a bridge. 'What is that place?' he wondered as he walked quietly closer, Pichu clinging tightly to his shoulder and gazing up in awe. He had never seen such a big building.

Getting closer, Ben noticed a sign at the entrance that read SPROUT TOWER. Ben's lips twitch slightly, glancing to Pichu. "Hey, you wanna go inside? I wonder what's in there..." He tilts his head quietly as he steps inside, looking up at the giant pillar in the center shooting all the way up to the top. "Whoa..." Looking around the room quietly, he notices a monk standing off in the back beside a ladder that seems to lead all the way up to the next floor. 'A... monk..?' His brows furrowing curiously, Ben slowly makes his way over toward the bald man clad in a dark colored robe, who greets him with a smile. "Hello, Trainer. Welcome to Sprout Tower, where battles are waged to test the bonds between Trainers and their Pokemon. Will you take the challenge?" Ben blinks and looks back up to the ceiling, the pillar in the center shaking with the heavy blows of battle as he winces slightly, looking to Pichu. ".... Pichu..? What do you think?" Pichu stares nervously at the towering pillar, clutching to Ben's hat. He obviously looked kind of scared. 'Maybe if I seem more confident, Pichu will be too,' he thought. Not to mention he was still thinking about trying to catch another Pokemon. "It's alright, Pichu. We'll do some more training so we'll both be super ready for this." Smiling quietly, he looks back to the monk. "We'll be back. You better be ready for us!"

Turning quietly out of the tower, Ben walks with Pichu back toward Route 31, smiling at his Pokemon. "Just you wait, Pichu. We'll blow them away. Let's get some training in! There are lots of Caterpie and Weedle you can fight out here until you feel more confident in your abilities. Kay?" Pichu seemed happy with this decision, as he bounced and landed on Ben's hat with a punch to the air. "Pii pii!" His eyes gleamed with ambition, making Ben grin proudly. His Pokemon might be little, but he had a lot of potential.

Kasiya carefully the four TMs she'd picked out, double-checking their prices and doing the math in her head several times. She was sure she had enough, though she had made the executive decision to sell her Calm Mind TM. She wouldn't be left with a lot of money, especially once she added the Shiny Stone for Pepper to her purchases, and she decided then that she had enough, though that thought was very short-lived as her gaze came to land on the TM for Sunny Day, and she recalled how useful it had been for Rosemary during the last battle. Kasiya grit her teeth but finally decided to grab it, as she knew that the Meganium would eventually learn Solar Beam and it would also make her Synthesis that much more effective.

The blonde's heart was racing with excitement at the thought of teaching all these new moves to her Pokemon, and as she walked up to the counter to pay for her items (and inquire about the Shiny Stone, as she hadn't seen a section for the special evolution stones anywhere), she went over the math again in her head. She'd sold TMs before and if she remembered correctly, stores would buy them for half their value, which wasn't bad considering she hadn't paid for it in the first place.

As she approached the counter, however, her pace slowed when she spotted a head of bright, red hair and her heart sank a little. Logically she knew that there was more than one redheaded person in the world, but that brown leather jacket and surly tone of voice more than gave it away. Keegan, she thought sadly. She also knew that they'd likely cross paths again, but she definitely wished it hadn't been so soon. Mike had also spotted the redhead and the blonde smiled at the question. She, of course, knew the answer (unless Keegan acquired an Eevee in the past few days, but stranger things had happened). "Ooh, I know," she said, also attempting to be friendly as she approached the redhead from the other side, but she was polite enough to let him divulge as to what Pokemon he needed it for.

It was becoming increasingly difficult for Karrigan to not notice the fact that her dark-haired opponent was talking to someone, though she hadn't yet ruled out the probability that he was just crazy. Either way, she felt confident with her oldest partner now out on the field. Ikouma was a strictly no-nonsense Pokemon, though Karrigan did notice that he did not harbor the so-called vicious streak that was apparently common in the Sneasel species. He was relentless in battle but not needlessly malicious, but if anything, he was reliable.

The Drowzee had started to charge forward for a Headbutt, and Karrigan was sure Ikouma could dodge it. The Hypnosis Pokemon didn't appear to be all that speedy. "Dodge, and use Metal Claw," the redheaded girl said, giving a nod. Ikouma's eyes narrowed and he attempted to sidestep the angry Psychic-type, but he misjudged her speed a bit and got clipped anyway, even as he lashed out with his claws, which were glowing with a silvery, steely hue.

Oak grit his teeth as Kressen proceeded to hand the poor Rocket an impressive beatdown, at one point finding it necessary to cover the eyes of the Metapod he still hung on to. All in all, the whole thing didn't take all that long, and soon the two Rockets and their Pokemon had been wrapped up by Kressen's Metapod's String Shot. "Oh yes, he's just fine," Oak said, patting the Pokemon on the back, and he set the Pokemon down. "I guess I should call the authorities and let them deal with this..." he paused, gesturing to the two caught Rockets as he searched for the appropriate word, "mess."

The professor sighed and massaged his temples with his index fingers. "Yes, yes, a fine mess, indeed." He'd also have to find out if his insurance covered "damage by morons" and he'd need to hire a contractor for repairs. "Thank you for your help, young man," he said, turning to Kressen. "It's nice to see young trainers with such a strong sense of justice. I feel I may have kept you too long, however, as I know you wanted to find a Water-type. I have to thank you some how... oh, I know! Hold that thought." He held up his hands and disappeared into the manor, the sounds of the professor rummaging around through boxes thudding from a distance. He reappeared a few moments later, holding a blue and white sphere with black lines criss-crossing over it. "This here is a Net Ball. It works quite well on Water-types. And Bug-types, for that matter, but regardless, it should come in handy." He held the sphere out for the redhead to take. "Go on, I insist!"

Riza trained with Selena for a bit longer before she headed back to the pokecenter to get the Snivy healed, as well as Faustus and Eris. She was feeling positively giddy over the morning's events, as her Snivy now had a Grass-type move and her Dratini had evolved into a Dragonair. Not much could remove the grin from Riza's face as she handed her trio over to the nurse for treatment. The nurse had easily noticed the raven haired girl's excitement and questioned it and Riza didn't hesitate to explain everything in great detail. She'd run into a few bumps in the road since she'd started this journey but overall she was quite pleased with her own progress. She got herself a bottle of water and an apple from the cafeteria while she waited, checking her phone messages and generally wasting time. The moment her Pokemon were ready she claimed them. After thanking the nurse she headed back outside, and though she contemplated a bit more training, she decided against it for now and chose to make her way to Pewter City.

She followed the rocky road down from the mountain, quickly passing the area where she'd done her training. The rough landscape smoothed out the further south she got, with the colour green starting to creep up more. This little area of Kanto was rather nice, and Riza looked up as a small flock of Pidgey flew overhead. She smiled to herself and let little Selena out of her poke ball, deciding that she might as well try and bond with the Snivy as much as possible before their gym battle.

Pewter City was within her sights when Riza heard a voice calling after her, and she turned to see a big man, probably in his early thirties, following after her. He was dressed to the letter in heavy duty hiking gear and he seemed almost out of breath. "Hey!" he called again, waving at her. Tentatively, Riza waved back as she glanced around to make sure there wasn't anyone else he could be yelling at. "Wait just a minute, I need to talk to you!"

Katie couldn't help but find it somewhat irritating that when you really wanted another trainer to battle with, there wasn't any around. But when you were in a hurry and didn't want to stop and battle, that's when every trainer under the sun seemed to be seeking you out specifically. She headed north, finding that it didn't take long to get to the outskirts of Solaceon as it wasn't a very big town to begin with. She still didn't see any trainers but it was still fairly early in the day. There were a lot of hills in this area and the grass was very tall as well, Katie could easily disappear into it if she wanted to as she wasn't very tall to begin with.

Katie was a bit hesitant to even poke her head in the grass as she wasn't sure what kinds of Pokemon could be roaming around out here. With plenty of difficulty she scrambled up onto one of the easier hills, able to see a large amount of the area. There were some trainers way off in the distance but she'd have to go out of her way to reach them and she wasn't sure if her work here in Solaceon was quite finished yet. As she climbed back down from the hill, she spotted a strange pink and blue Pokemon making its way along the edge of the grass. Quietly, she withdrew Darla's poke ball and clicked it open. "Darla, Astonish!" she whispered harshly.

The Solosis quickly eyed her target and drifted toward it, and the little Pokemon, a Mime Jr., happened to turn around at exactly the last moment and in time to be forcefully shoved over by the Solosis. It cried out but hopped back up to its feet, waving its hands around to create a sturdy looking glass wall in front of it. Feeling pleased with itself, it stuck its tongue out at Darla. "I think that's a Mime Jr.," Katie mumbled to herself, getting confirmation from her pokedex. "And that must have been Barrier. Darla, use Reflect," she said. Darla made an irritated noise but did as she was told, creating her own shiny light barrier, The two psychic-types glared at each other and Katie quietly wondered if it had been a good idea to challenge the Mime Jr. in the first place.

A self healing move, very useful to have. Crenu wasn't aware that that was something grass types had in their arsenal of tricks. Maybe he should look into obtaining a pokemon with something like that in their own move pool. Maybe he should look further into the grass type, if nothing else to better understand and be effective against them in battle. The move Moon Light however he did know, it was very similar to Morning Sun. The nicer the weather, the more one gained from it's restorative properties. But in bad weather, such as a hail storm, it's effects were minimal at best and there wasn't a lot of health gained. Still, the hail was starting to let up and the sky would be clear very soon. The fact that Erika hadn't countered the weather by turning it bright and sunny for her Vileplume all this time meant that she probably didn't have Sunny Day in her learned moves, and as that would be a risky trump card to hold for this long he was about ninety percent certain of it. Still even neutral weather meant a good chunk of restored health, so they could not let that happen no matter what. This wasn't an issue though, and Crenu would gladly give up a chance to attack to do it. He could keep the pressure on without doing damage, that was what ghosts were good at after all. "Disable." Korra was feeling good, feeling confident. She had a fierce look in her eye as she danced around the field. At first the big flower scared her, and even now it was intimidating, but she could do this! She was so fast and flowing, the big flower's feet may as well have been frozen to the ground! Perfect for pulling pranks on it. She moved away from it getting some distance from those very poisonous petals, not liking one bit the way that they moved and the glow she was receiving, but no more! Korra stared down her opponent and wailed eerily as reached out with her mind, set on robbing the toxic plant of it's biggest hope. But there was no denying the blow she'd been dealt, the internal burning of the poison she'd been filled with growing more intense as it drained her stamina. Crenu wasn't unaware of this either, he knew he was going to have to take the Vileplume out soon if Korra had any hopes of pulling this off.

Ben spends the next few hours training with his Pichu, seeking out tons of Bug Pokemon to practice on. Next up was a Weedle.

"Alright, Pichu.. Just like we practiced. Be careful of it's Poison Sting." Pichu nods, his eyes focused as he has a stare down with the bug. Ben waited for just the right moment, when the Weedle launched its head toward Pichu, ready to sting. "Now, Pichu! Thundershock!" At his command, Pichu lets loose a jolt of electricity, catching the Weedle mid-jump and shocking it onto the ground. Ben nods and grins. "Excellent! Now swat it away with your Tail Whip!" Pichu runs to the Weedle and does a quick spin, flicking the bug strongly with its tail and sending it flying a few feet away. Ben chuckles as he goes and picks up his Pichu, letting it rest on his shoulder. "Great job, Pichu! You're really getting your battle moves down!" Smiling, he turns to head back toward Violet City. "Let's take a short rest in the PokeCenter before we go out again. I'm starved!"

As Ben re-enters the city, he makes a beeline for the PokeCenter, politely asking the nurse to refresh his Pokemon again. He made a bashful mental note that he seemed to be using this place an awful lot, but he didn't want to wear out his Pichu too badly. While he waited, he went to the lounge for a quick bite. He would try to save the Pokemon food that was in his bag for when they were back on the road, as he knew the PokeCenter would give his Pichu something to eat to help him get his strength back.

The cashier's neutral expression faltered slightly at the redhead's demand, but he nodded, managing to get back into business-mode relatively easily. "Sure thing," he said, turning to retrieve the stone in question.

Keegan sighed and set the two TMs he'd picked on the counter, and had started to ready the ones he intended to sell when he thought he heard a familiar voice from nearby. At first he figured it'd be best just to ignore it, but before he could formulate another thought, Mike was by his side, trying very hard to act casual. Despite his frustrations with absolutely everything, Keegan had to admire Mike's attempts at civility. He'd opened his mouth to respond, but then Kasiya was on his other side, and he very suddenly felt like a Rattata that had been cornered by a pair of Persian. Despite the very uncomfortable feeling that had overcome him, the redhead remained calm, looking each of his friends in the eye before answering. "Yeah," he chuckled, amazed at how... normal he sounded. "Growlithe. The one I caught on Cinnabar," he added as the cashier set the fiery-coloured stone on the counter. "You might say that I was... inspired," he added, unable to stop himself from smiling back at Kasiya. The blonde would be the death of him, he knew it. "I would love to raise a Flareon though, he added, remembering his other purchases. "Oh, these, too," he said, nodding to the discs."

"One Fire Stone, one Energy Ball, and one Aerial Ace. Okay, your total comes to $9,100." The clerk looked at the redhead expectantly, yet professionally.

Already knowing he didn't have enough on hand, he produced the discs he planned to sell, finding himself slightly angered that they only sold for half their value. Regardless, he very nearly doubled his monetary total, and when it was all said and done, he was left with a modest $2,650, and he stepped back, still feeling slightly cornered by Mike and Kass. "So, what are you two shopping for?" he asked, managing to smirk a little. "China? Or matching outfits, perhaps?" So maybe he was being just the tiniest bit sarcastic, but he figured he'd earned the right to make a few free jabs at the couple's expense.
=====
Unsurprisingly, the Sneasel was fast, and Damien's sense of dread seemed to grow with every second that passed. Though he would likely lose, it never hurt to scope out another trainer's Pokemon, and he knew that he'd fare much better against the redhead the next time, if ever, they battled again. "Your Sneasel's speed is impressive," he said somewhat casually as the Sneasel's Metal Claw tore a chunk out of Drowzee - at least it hadn't been a Dark-type move yet - and he grinned, peering at the girl from over the rim of his glasses. "At least this one seems obedient enough."

Having those steel-hard claws rake against her skin hadn't been pleasant, and it only further angered Drowzee. "Headbutt again," Damien called loftily, still looking at the redhead. "By the way, I never caught your name," he added as Drowzee charged Ikouma again, though she was being quite reckless in her anger and the Sneasel would probably have an easy time dodging it.

Quick, you have the flanking bonus. Go now!

"Oh?" Mike said, ignoring the phantom's less than helpful 'suggestion', as amusing as it was. "Growlithe are always nice. I trust you've raised it enough so it won't be stuck with Ember and Tackle, right?" The fire type enthusiast couldn't help but poke and prod when it came to his favorite group of Pokemon. However, as Keegan was the son of a well-established breeder and a damn fine trainer in his own right, Mike knew that the pup was in more than capable hands. "Flareon are wonderful. Walking pillows, basically. I'd love to raise one, too!" Mike thought back, Keegan had always had a soft spot for the little fox. Speaking of said company, he was much calmer than he originally presented himself, even when surrounded by probably the last two people he wanted to run into. Hope! Keegan's joke caught Mike a little off guard, but couldn't help but smile and raise an eyebrow. He was well within his rights, indeed.

"Please," he began, putting his hands on his hips in an overly dramatic fashion. "First off, you know better than anyone that any sort of finery in my hands might as well be dust. Remember when I broke your mom's dishes that one time and I thought she was going to kill me?" Not that she did, obviously. Mrs. Summers concocted some story about how she actually always hated the set and needed a reason to throw it away. Whether it was true or not, it certainly put the then eleven year old Mike's mind at ease. However, he was instructed to go inspect silverware earlier this morning, so it wasn't too far of a leap. "Second, only one of us is tacky enough to dress up like a sports car, even though my current outfit is a bit more...normal and less, well, standard?" He looked down at his aptly titled outfit, which didn't have a hint of flames on it. "Not to mention, I don't think I could rock the shorts like she could." He fought the urge to make any sort of expression towards Kasiya signifying how nice she in fact looked in the aforementioned shorts. He didn't want to rub anything in. "We just got back from trashing Tate and Liza's gym." he said casually. "Oh and we won a badge, too." Mike added a laugh, holding up his hand for a high-five from Kasiya. "But seriously, I hope you weren't planning on challenging them anytime soon. We kinda broke it. After this I'm going to head over to Mt. Pyre to put...something important back in its rightful place." He gestured to his bag, but then realized that Keegan might not have been exactly privy as to what he was speaking of.

"What about you?" he cleared his throat, blowing past the previous subject. "Oh, one second." he leaned over and grabbed the Fire Stone and pressed it to his forehead. Nothing. "Damn. Worth a shot." Mike said with a doofy smile, handing the stone back to his friend. "Kinda hoping for cannons."

Before long, Ben was able to retrieve his Pichu and be on his way. Exiting the PokeCenter, he decides to wander the city a little.

His hands in his pockets and Pichu riding on his shoulder, he looks around in a few areas he hadn't visited yet. 'A lot of old buildings,' he thought. Up ahead, he could see a small crowd of other kids coming out of a building labeled TRAINERS' SCHOOL. Ben could help but grin at his luck. "Wow, a whole school just for Trainers? I bet there's a ton of really useful information in there..." Smiling to his Pichu, Ben decides to head in that direction.

Stepping inside the building curiously, the class seemed kind of empty -- after all, those must have been its students that he saw exiting just now. But it looked like their lesson was still up on the blackboard. Walking closer, Ben read what was written. "Poison.. Paralysis.. Sleep.. Burns.. Freezing.. Hey, Pichu, this is a list of common ailments in Pokemon battles! And look, it says what you need to cure them!" Continuing to read, Ben looks up the cure for poisoning - an Antidote, available at most PokeMarts. "Hmm," he says. "I bet that Weedle's Poison Sting attack could make you sick if you got hit by it.. You think I should buy an Antidote at the Mart just in case?" Pichu looks at his trainer and nods vigorously. No way was he gonna chance getting poisoned. Smiling, Ben nods and turns from the building. "Okay. Let's go pick one up before we start training again. I should have enough money, I think.."

Walking back out of the school, Ben heads for the PokeMart. He might decide to return there later and read up on more cures for ailments, but right now he wanted to get back to training. Pichu was getting really good, and might even be able to tackle some bigger Pokemon soon.

Coming into the Mart, Ben wanders the aisles quietly for a moment before finding what he is looking for. Taking the Antidote off the shelf, he smiles and goes to the front counter to ring it up. "One Antidote, please.." The cashier smiles and rings him up. "That's 100." Handing him the money, Ben receives his product and puts it into his bag with a smile and a "Thank you." Looking to Pichu as he exits, he smiles. "There, now we're all set. Are you ready to train some more, or do you want to look around?" Pichu flumps against his hat in a relaxed manner. "Piiii....." Chuckling a little, Ben nods. "Okay. We'll take a break for now. Let's go see the rest of the city, kay?"

Setting off at a steady, relaxed pace, Ben walks off to go and see what else Violet City has to offer.

Riza took an apprehensive step back as the hiker approached her. "Do I...do I know you?" she asked, her hand instinctively reaching for Akima's poke ball. "What do you want?"

The hiker quickly raised his hands defensively. "Whoa, whoa!" he said, nodding to the girl's belt of pokemon. "I'm friendly, I swear!" Riza narrowed her eyes as she was not convinced. "Really, it's the truth! You were just up at the pokecenter by Mt. Moon right? Well the nurse said you'd left your phone behind and asked me to bring it to you." He pulled the black device out of the side pouch of his bag and held it up for the girl to see. "See? I'm a good samaritan!"

Riza's hand went to her pocket immediately and she let out a small gasp of surprise to find that it was empty. She must have left it on the counter at the pokecenter, and she gave a sigh. "Yeah, that's mine," she said, looking a little embarrassed now. "Thank you for returning it to me," she added, meeting the hiker half way before he handed it to her. She hadn't missed any messages or calls, but the fact that she left without it was unsettling. It wasn't like her to be forgetful.

"So you're heading to Pewter then?" the hiker asked.

Riza raised an eyebrow, thinking that answer was a little obvious. "Yes," she said, folding her arms over her chest. "I'm going to win a badge from Brock."

"This may seem a bit forward, but how about you have a battle with me? It'd be great practice for your gym match. I'm Daniel by the way."

Riza's brow crinkled at first, but at the offer of a battle, she relaxed. "Sure," she answered, taking Selena's poke ball from her belt. "My name is Riza, and thanks again for getting my phone back to me."

Katie watched her Solosis and the Mime Jr. curiously, as neither Pokemon seemed to want to be the one to make the next move. The little mime would eventually be the one to do it though, giving a cry and rushing at Darla. He jumped up and smacked her several times with his little hands, and even though the little guy was currently attacking her Pokemon Katie couldn't help but smile at how cute the Mime Jr. was.

Cute was the last thing Darla thought the Mime Jr. was as she was smacked several times across the face by his Doubleslap and that certainly didn't make her very happy. "Try your Shadow Ball," Katie called between giggles. Finally, an opponent she could actually use it on! Darla gave a cry and began to build up the shadowy orb, and she flung it at the annoying Mime Jr. The young Mime Pokemon gave a cry as he was bowled over by the Shadow Ball and he jumped up, glaring angrily at the Solosis. He gave a cry and then just like that he flung it back, much to both Katie and Darla's surprise.

"What was that?" Katie asked, once again going for her pokedex. "Copycat? Again?" she sighed, shaking her head. First that Happiny yesterday and now the Mime Jr. "Hit it with your Psywave!" she called next, watching as Darla then unleashed the psychic waves at the Mime. The Shadow Ball had hurt her, and both Pokemon were already looking tired, but that was often the case with younger Pokemon. Even Kord still seemed to get tired pretty quickly, but that's what all this training was for after all.

Coming upon another large, tall building, Ben stops to look at the sign out front. It reads, "VIOLET CITY GYM -- Leader: Falkner, The Elegant Master of Flying Pokemon". Blinking, he looks up at the tall building once more. "... The Gym...? Whoa..." Looking to Pichu, he grins slightly. "We've gotta challenge this gym, Pichu, before we leave Violet City. We have to get a lot stronger by then, right?" Pichu's eyes light up as he bounces excitedly on Ben's hat. "Pii pii!" Ben smiles and nods, placing his hands on his hips. "And you know, Pichu, your Electric attacks will be really strong against this Gym Leader's Flying type Pokemon. So we'll have a little advantage!" Smiling, he turns away from the gym to start wandering again. 'Don't you worry, Falkner,' he thought to himself. 'We'll definitely be back.' First things first, though, Ben had to get strong enough to tackle the Sprout Tower challenge. He hoped he'd be ready after a little more training with Pichu.

Still feeling pretty pleased with himself, Jasper continued along the platform. He knew he could have been a little nicer to that last trainer, but he'd gotten off to a shaky start the moment he walked in here, and Jasper had a tendency to compensate with both humor and sarcasm. He was glad he'd won though, as losing to that kid probably would have made him walk away right then and there. "Okay Falkner, were are you?" the boy muttered to himself as he looked around. Another trainer was walking toward him, this one a girl. She was kind of cute, but the fact that she looked so dead serious took away from it, and she glared at Jasper. "Do you know where Falkner is?" he asked in what he hoped was an innocent voice.

"You can battle Falkner, but only if you beat me," she said, already in the process of whipping out a Pokeball. "One on one," she added as her Pokemon, a Spearow, appeared in front of Jasper. It looked just about as pleasant as its trainer did.

'Here we go again,' Jasper thought, his hand inching towards Croconaw's Pokeball, but he stopped himself. He'd be relying primarily on Ditto and Croconaw and he didn't want to send out either of them just yet. Zorua was zonked out and he wasn't sure Paras would want to go into battle just yet so that meant... "All right, Koffing, let's see what you can do," the bandanna-clad boy mumbled as he released the Poison Gas Pokemon. Koffing appeared, wearing her usual dopey smile as she polluted the air around her without even trying. "The name's Jasper," the boy added, still attempting to be polite. "What's yours?"

"Bridget," the girl answered sharply, her expression, if anything, a little sterner upon seeing the goofy Koffing. "Spearow, Fury Attack." Well, she wasn't wasting any time in issuing commands, now was she? The little bird shot off like a rocket, its eyes narrowed into slits as it closed in on Koffing and started jabbing her with its sharp little beak.

The poison type let out a pitiful whine, clearly not happy about being on the receiving end of the attack. "Poison Gas!" Jasper called, hoping that with the Spearow being so close, it would be impossible to avoid Koffing's counter. Koffing gave a cry, sending out a thick cloud of green smog that quickly surrounded both she and her target.

For the most part, Hayley didn't find anything too exciting in the newspaper. She'd just started to read an article - something about the leader of Team Magma being arrested in what the journalists were calling a "daring raid" when she heard her name being called. The article was quickly forgotten as she raced across the lobby, skidding to a stop in front of the counter. "Your Pokemon are fully healed," the nurse said, her voice as cheery as ever, and she handed Hayley a tray with her four Pokeballs in it. Pikachu sat next to them, looking a lot happier than before. "And this little one, too. She's feeling just fine."

"Pikachuuu!" the mouse cried, giving the brunette a thumbs-up to show her agreement.

"Oh, that's great," Hayley sighed, the relief apparent on her face. "What a day this has been," she murmured, reattaching the spheres to her belt (which she'd clipped on over her pajamas at some point during the trek from the forest). "Well, I guess we should take you home then. I bet all your forest friends are wondering where you are!" The Pikachu responded with a fairly weak smile but jumped up on the girl's shoulder regardless. "Thank you!" Hayley called over her other shoulder as she grabbed her bag and jogged toward the door, her own energy seemingly limitless at this point. "I'm sure we'll be back again!"

"Any time!" the nurse called after Hayley, unable to hold back her laughter as the girl ran out of the Center. Her assistant Chansey had wandered over to her side, sharing in her amusement. "Do you think I should have told her that she's still in her pajamas, or do you think she already knows?"
