Kasiya nodded in silent agreement to Kilik's suggestion of refereeing their match, though as they made their way to the designated battleground, she couldn't help but ponder the situation. She couldn't remember ever battling a Treecko before, and even if she had, she couldn't remember a darned thing about them, other than the fact that they were Grass-type Pokemon. It's safe to say that Nova has the advantage in this, she thought, but by now she definitely knew better than to judge a battle simply by type match-ups alone. Her thoughts were very similar to Keegan's in the sense that she hadn't really seen the gecko battle before, though she suspected that Pan was very fast and agile, judging by the way he'd so easily jumped up onto Keegan's shoulder. Even if we do have the advantage, we still have to be careful. Keegan's a much better trainer than he gives himself credit for. Besides that, Pan's fighting to impress his girlfriend while Nova's only out to settle a score... this should be very interesting.
She could already feel her pulse starting to quicken as she took her position on the battlefield, hardly hearing Kilik as he went over the rules. Not surprisingly, Nova already gotten into position and was eagerly awaiting for the signal to start. Kasiya stole a quick glance at Keegan, smiling inwardly at the plastic flower he'd been given to hold by Pan, but she could already feel the familiar feeling of both anxiety and excitement building up at the prospect of battling the redhead. This would be the first (real) battle they'd have against each other, as she didn't count all the training matches or even that one time she'd challenged him out of pure anger and annoyance.
Kasiya had been so caught up in her own thoughts and emotions that she nearly missed it when Kilik started the match, and Keegan hadn't hesitated to make the first move. So much for ladies' first, she thought as the Treecko sped towards Nova with a Quick Attack, and she suddenly realized that she should have been checking up on the gecko's possible moves as they were walking here. "Dragon Dance," she called. It was their usual lead-off tactic, as it gave Nova a very useful attack and speed boost, but she also didn't want to give away her Pokemon's best attacks within the first round or so. The Charmander had never looked so serious and determined as she danced out of the way, her scaly, orange skin shimmering with a purple hue. A couple of these, and we'll be good to go, Kasiya thought, smiling a bit.

Dante greeted Kasiya and Kilik with with a small smile and a little salute glad to hear about Bahamut doing well. At Keegan's response though he rolled his eyes at the other boy. "At least they can't mistake me for a girl anymore now can they? Besides it looks better then your mop head." He was mostly teasing and if he wasn't he was pretty sure the older boy wouldn't mind to much.
At seeing the little exchange between the two pokemon Dante shrugged at the declaration of a battle and followed the other three outside Hera trailing behind him. The Hera cross was always happy to see a battle and she had a bunch of delicious honey to eat!" Standing next to Kilik, Dante watched the two's opening moves and figured that this was going to be an interesting battle. Occasionally he glanced over at the Treecko on Kilik's shoulder who seemed to have some sort of infatuation with Keegan's Treecko. "This is certainly going to be interesting." Dante commented to no one in particular, watching with dark eyes.

As Robin brushed up on the pokemon in front of her the fisherman didn't wait for the disorganized girl. "Shellos use your Mud Slap!" The small pink slug nodded and digging its crowned head under it tossed its head back launching a glob of mud right into Slowpokes face.
"Ooo! Mud Slap! OK! Umm Slowpoke let's use your," Robin scrolled through Slowpokes moves really quick. " Yawn!" She finally landed on one that she liked. Her dopey pokemon just blinked a few times his face covered in mud before it gave out a small cry of pain a few seconds later. That mud had rocks in it! Yawn? Oh ok he could do that, he was kinda tired.
"Putting a time table on this battle huh girlie?" The fisherman laughed. "Still its not going to help you to much. Shellos use Harden before you fall asleep." The small pink slug was already starting to feel a bit drowsy but it nodded and a slight sheen covered its body for a second as its defense was raised.
Scrolling through more of Slowpokes moves, her memory of them wasn't that great, Robin finally settled on another one while the Shellos drifted off to sleep. "Slowpoke let's try your Confusion attack!" There was no way she could really do any of its physical attacks since crossing the battlefield would waste any time they had gained by putting the other pokemon to sleep. Robin's Slowpoke just stared off for a while before it actually registered that it a)received and order b) understand what that order was and finally c) execute that order. All in all it took around a full minute for the Confusion attack to be launched all the while the fisherman was yelling for his Shellos to get up.

Jason was dumbfounded, baffled, this pokemon was talking? And more importantly, it was mimicking him! "This is....SO COOL!" Jason wasted no time, grabbing his bag and opening it to grab his sketch pad, only to realize now that everything he owned was soaked now thanks to his little stunt...including his paper. "....damn. Didn't think that one all the way through now did I?" Didn't think that one all the way through." The bird said over and over, almost in a taunting tone as it hopped about. This of course angered Jason a bit, but his mantyke more and Poseidon looked like he was just about ready pounce when the man finally chimed in. "Woh woh there, calm down kids. Old Squawky here just likes to play around. Don't take it to heart. He likes to imitate people, but I guess they all do that. Ha ha ha ha!" Jason looked at the man curiously, he'd almost forgotten about him with the bird pokemon drawing so much attention. "Squawky? What is it? Is Squawky it's species?" Not having any usable paper for note taking Jason had to commit everything to memory. So this pokemon was just copying him, it wasn't really talking. Just a parlor trick of sorts. "Huh? Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha! No no no kid, Squawky is just what I call him. He's a Chatot, and my little buddy. Tell them you're sorry." "You're sorry." "No no, I'm not sorry. You're sorry! Tell them you're sorry." "I'm not sorry. You're sorry!" "....." Jason could only watch as the old man and his Chatot went at it like this, it was simply to much. Jason burst out laughing, and the old man and his Chatot started laughing as well. "You two are a riot! Oh man I'm glad I came to Sinnoh! Ooo man, ahh but where's the poke center around here sir? I need to dry off." Still laughing a bit the old man patted Jason on the back and smiled. "Nonsense son, come on my place isn't to far. You can dry off there and we can talk some more, Squawky and me don't get to many visitors nowadays, not since the big luxury liners started to ferry people around Sinnoh. Owned my own charter once upon a time you know. Heh heh, anyway call me John, Captain John." And with that John started off towards his house, Jason following promptly still playing with the Chatot much to the old mans amusement.

Should have expected Dragon Dance, Keegan thought as the fiery lizard evaded Pan's attack with more ease than he liked, and the gecko retreated back to his starting position in front of his trainer. Perhaps she's trained with Nova more than I thought. He studied the situation carefully, knowing that Pan only had two moves that could effectively cause the Charmander damage, and Absorb wasn't one of them. "Pound and Quick Attack," he murmured to himself, deciding to have his Treecko stay on the defensive for now. "Pan, give her a good Leer, and keep your distance," he said finally. "Dodging her fire attacks is going to be vital."
The Treecko looked over his shoulder at Keegan, and nodded. Leer sounded good to him, and even though he did want to introduce his tail to Nova's face, he too knew that her fiery attacks would be dangerous and should be avoided at all costs. He held his ground in his current position and fixed his gaze on the little fireball, his yellow eyes glowing with a sinister glare.

Akima's Ice Punch was definitely the strongest move that had been landed thus far, and the Granbull staggered back, holding its head and whimpering in pain. Icy patches had formed on his head and shoulders and he as lucky that he hadn't been frozen. "Come on Chomp, fight back with Headbutt," Terry shouted. The Granbull gave his head a shake and charged forward, lowering his head as he tried to slam it into the Sneasel.
"Dodge it," Riza said calmly, folding her arms over her chest. Akima nodded and jumped back, her impressive speed clearly ruling this battle. The Granbull chased after her but was unable to land a hit on the agile Pokemon. "Now blast him with another Icy Wind," Riza ordered. Akima jumped up and unleashed the icy gust of wind, smiling impishly as Chomp cringed from the cold. Riza smiled, watching her Sneasel fondly. 'We've got this,' she thought, her previous training with Jaden practically forgotten for now.
The older of the Harding siblings had waited in the pokecenter a little longer before poking his head outside, and Jaden blinked in confusion when he saw that Crenu was no longer sitting there. 'I guess he didn't feel like sticking around and waiting,' he thought, walking over to the front desk. His Pokemon were returned to him and he left a message with the nurse to tell his sister he'd gone back home to Blackthorne City. He headed outside and released his Pidgeot, gently stroking the bird's feathers before he climbed up on his back and the two were off with a powerful flap of the Pidgeot's wings. * * * * * Katie and the nice lady trainer enjoyed their walk with quiet chitchat, and Katie found out that her name was Nancy and that she owned a flower shop in Floaroma Town. She was a very nice woman, and she promised to give Katie a tour of her store once they got to town and made sure their Pokemon were healthy. Katie told Nancy about her mother and her job as a designer, the conversation sparked when Katie noticed the handbag she carried was one of Lena's most recent releases.
Katie was actually enjoying Nancy's company as they walked along, Seraphim walking along beside her trainer, very much liking the warm sunshine that beamed down on them. They'd just passed a sign indicating that Floaroma Town was just ahead, though as they continued down the path, suddenly a pair of twin girls, probably about twelve years old, jumped out in front of them.
"We challenge you two to a double battle," they both announced in unison, which Katie thought was a little creepy. "Liv and Liz are going to show you just how awesome twin power is!"
Katie and Nancy exchanged glances before they nodded at the girls. "All right, you're on." Katie said.
"If you insist," Nancy added, and the four females all sent out their Pokemon at once.

He's using Leer? I guess he's trying to play it smart, Kasiya thought, aware of just how much distance the Treecko had put between himself and the Charmander. The Leer from Pan had certainly shaken Nova up, and though she had put on a brave face, the evil glare had certainly frightened her a bit. It chilled her to her very core, and somehow she felt a little more vulnerable because of it. "Shake it of, Nova!" Kasiya called, already deciding upon her next command. "Dragon Dance, once more!"
Nova really did love using this move, and her little feet moved swiftly beneath her as she hopped and twirled, feeling her power and speed increasing as a result. Her dance came to an end and she took up a defensive position, watching the crafty Treecko carefully. "Your move," Kasiya called over to Keegan, her heart still racing with excitement.

Crenu watched, impressed with Riza's performance. And the way she told off that trainer about Metronome, he couldn't have said it better himself. She was really starting to come along as a trainer, and Crenu was clearer on just why he admired her like he did. That Granbull trainer was out of his league, this was almost embarrassing to watch. still Crenu of course wanted to jump in and tell him off as well, but decided to hang back for a while, watching in secret. Showing up now might throw Riza off and it really wasn't his place to go around enlightening all the world's fools.
++++++++++++++++++++ Kenneth had watched Crenu go off towards the poke center, but he didn't follow. For one his pokemon were perfectly fine, and two Crenu was probably better off with some cool down time. That last match was sure to be an eye opener, and while Ken didn't want to be mean he felt it was necessary. "What is it again? Ah yes, tough love. Sorry buddy, but now you know what you can expect out there." Kenneth just sorta hung back for a while, didn't really do much of anything really as he just observed his surroundings. Crenu went off to find Riza he presumed, and it looked like Jaden was off as well. "And he didn't even say goodbye. Honestly." Ken sighed, grinning a bit as he decided that he should try and find somethign fun to do in Vermilion. Although, having delivered the message he was suppose to and pushing Crenu in the right direction in terms of his current goal of coordinating, it probably wouldn't be long until he also left these kids on their own for a while.

"They've got something planned, what with all those Dragon Dances," Keegan muttered to himself, aware of the fact that Nova's speed could now closely rival Pan's. There was that, and he wasn't sure if he should try another Leer or if he should attempt an attack. He glanced over at Kasiya, both glad and somewhat irked that she looked so confident. Granted, she had gone into this with the clear advantage, though another idea came to mind as his gaze fell back upon his Treecko. "Pan, use your special move," he called. We'll just have to take that advantage away, he thought, now wearing a slight smirk. Let's see how well Kasi deals with a sleeping Pokemon.
A grin also appeared on the face of the Treecko at his next command, and he was very glad his trainer hadn't forgotten about it. He'd used this move to help get him out of trouble so many times before, and he was sure that it would be of great use right now. His eyes scanned the grassy field they were currently battling upon and let out an excited "Tree!" when he found what he was looking for. He sped forward and snatched a long blade of grass from the ground, holding it up and waving it around like a tiny banner for everyone to see before weaving it through his fingers. He took a deep breath as he brought it up to his mouth and he blew against it, causing a curious, yet strangely soothing melody to fill the area with his Grasswhistle.

What's he grinning for? Kasiya thought, not liking the way Keegan was looking at her. Why do I have a bad feeling about this? Nova didn't seem to sense that anything was amiss, as she was slashing at the air with her claws, eager to get them into that mean little gecko. Neither she nor her trainer knew what Pan's special move was, though the Charmander quickly got herself into a defensive stance, her tail flame still burning bright as ever.
It wasn't until Pan held up the blade of grass that he'd grabbed that Kasiya realized what move the Treecko was about to use. She tried to call out for Nova to use a Smokescreen even as the Grasswhistle sounded around them. Nova had started swinging her tail around to create a smoky haze within which to hide, but the soothing sounds coming from the Treecko made her feel very drowsy, and within a few moments she'd succumbed to sleep. "Dammit," Kasiya muttered, refraining from kicking the ground in annoyance. She needed for Nova to wake up, and now! "Nova, you've got to listen to me! Get up and attack!" she called, but the Charmander was soundly asleep.

Keegan sighed with relief when it was apparent that Grasswhistle had worked, though on a small scale he did feel bad for Nova. After all, he'd given her to Kasiya when she was still just an egg, and he'd been present at her birth, as well, so naturally he was very fond of the little Charmander. Even still, this is a battle, and I know it would be a great boost of confidence for Pan if he can overcome a massive type disadvantage, he thought, looking over at the Treecko. Pan was currently striking a flashy and heroic pose for the benefit of his lady Treecko, and the redhead sighed. Or not, seeing as his ego is already way larger than the rest of him. He glanced at the sleeping Charmander, and grit his teeth. "Pan, use Pound!" he called. There was no use wasting his good fortune and delaying the inevitable.
Hearing his trainer's orders, Pan snapped back to attention and raced on all fours towards Nova. Gee, he sure liked the Charmander better when she was sleeping! He sprang up so that he was on his hind legs and when he was close enough to his target, twisting his body so that his powerful tail would strike a fierce blow to the sleeping Nova.

Kasiya winced and tried not to cry out as Pan's tail slammed solidly into the sleeping Nova, actually causing her to roll over a few times. Her tail flame flickered a bit, suddenly burning less intensely than before, and Kasiya began to worry for her Pokemon. Even being attacked wouldn't guarantee that Nova would awaken. "Come on, Nova!" Kasiya called. "You've got to wake up! Wake up and use Scratch!" Nova slept soundly through being pounded, and her trainer's cries went unheard as she slept on.

That looked like it really hurt, Keegan thought, turning his gaze away from Kasiya and Nova. He knew he shouldn't feel guilty about attacking, as putting the opponent to sleep was a good tactic, and normally he wouldn't, but for some reason (or the fact that it was Kasiya's Charmander he was wailing on), he couldn't help it. "Pound, again," he said coldly, still choosing not to look at his opponents. He knew Kasiya wouldn't hold it against him; if anything, she'd be more annoyed at him if she knew he was holding back.
After landing that previous hit against the lizard, even Pan was beginning to feel slightly sorry for her. He hadn't meant anything mean by his previous actions, he was just playing around with her. But, orders were orders, and he jumped up again, swinging his tail downwards for what would most likely be another solid strike.

Kasiya continued to call out to Nova in hopes of rousing her from her sleep even as Pan slammed her with another strong Pound attack, the flame on her tail beginning to dwindle even more than before. However, this came at the price of jolting her awake, though the Charmander remained perfectly still for now. She could hear her trainer's voice, calling out for her to wake up, and she squeezed her eyes shut. Even though she wanted nothing more to jump to her feet to show Kasiya that she was all right, she remained motionless, her eyes opened just enough for her to be able to make out the redhead across the field from her. She could see the Treecko, too, and she felt the anger start to build up inside her stomach. She would show that pesky gecko a thing or two, just wait until he tried to attack her again!
"Please, Nova, you've got to wake up," Kasiya said again, her voice quieter than before. She wasn't sure how much more the poor Charmander could take.

It shouldn't take much more to finish this, Keegan thought, having looked up in time to see Pan's second Pound attack land solidly on the still-sleeping Charmander's body. His slipped his hands into his pockets. His fingers closed around the pack of cigarettes and he sighed, desperately longing for one. "Do another Pound attack," he said, hoping that this attack would end it so that he could finally go off by himself and have a smoke.
Pan nodded, deciding to put his all into this attack to try and knock out the Charmander so that she could retain some semblance of dignity. He knew for sure that she would be very embarrassed and humiliated due to the fact that she'd lost to a grass type Pokemon, but that was something she was going to have to live with. "Treecko, tree!" he shouted, running forward and preparing to slam his tail down on the helpless Nova one last time.

"Come on, Nova! Please!" Kasiya wailed, dropping to her knees. She'd had no idea that Pan knew how to use Grasswhistle, otherwise she would have had Nova let loose with Flamethrower right from the get-go. Pan was coming in fast for the attack, and she was sure this would be it.
Just as Pan's tail was about to slam her for what probably would have been the final time, Nova rolled out of the way, the weak flame on her tail still hot enough to ignite some of the grass and make it smolder in her wake. The Charmander jumped to her feet, her fangs bared in anger. That Treecko had made a fool of her long enough; it was payback time. "Nova?" Kasiya asked, quickly getting to her own feet and taking a step forward. "Are you okay?"
"Chaaarr," the Charmander replied, looking over her shoulder at her trainer and nodding. "Mander." Then, without waiting for a command, she threw back her head and spewed an intense jet of fire in the general direction of the Treecko, though she wasn't going out of her way to hit him. When her Flamethrower was finished, she let out a heavy sigh and dropped to her knees, her body suddenly overcome with that familiar, unmistakable white light. Nova's body began to shift and change and she gave off a tremendous amount of heat, scorching the grass below her black. The light surrounding her vanished as quickly as it had came, and she slashed the air with her much larger claws before letting out a fierce roar. The newly-evolved Charmeleon was in the mood for a little Treecko snack - barbeque style.
