"Hai, Iyasu-sama! Arigatou gozaimasu! It is a pleasure to meet you, and the both of you as well, Yokome-san, Tanpopo-san!" Reijin found herself smiling unconsciously, the kindness of this geisha infectious. "I will return shortly," she added, quickly bowing and heading back to the kitchen, which had quickly become her second home within the okiya.
Setting a kettle over the fire, Reijin retrieved a tray and set a plate of prepared mochi on it. She then added three teacups, hesitating slightly, holding a fourth cup. "I am but a maid here, is it really appropriate for me to be drinking tea and socializing?" She started to set the cup down as another thought crossed her mind. "However, I was invited personally by a geisha to join her and her two maiko. Perhaps it would be even more crass of me to reject such a generous offer," she mused to herself, alone in the okiya kitchen. Finally deciding, she added the teacup to the tray and fetched the kettle of fragrant tea, setting it down and lifting the tray cautiously.
Moving as swiftly as she could without dropping anything, Reijin climbed the stairs to return to Iyasu's room. Setting the tray of tea and mochi down carefully, she bowed to the room's occupants. "I have returned, Iyasu-sama. I hope this is to your liking."

Luna smiled. "I am glad some get it easier, your a very luckey girl, having the chance to chose you will be a wonderful Geisha and older sister sometimes comming from a good home is better, my mother was a Geisha once..." She said nothing more as thunder again boomed over head. She looked at the girl, this maid was quite pretty she'd do well, perhaps even if she was luckey Luna would get an Onee-san and become a geigha then maybe if the youngmaid didn't already have an onee-san Luna would gladly take the girl. Both eyes closed as she let her mind drift wondering if the girl wanted to ask any questions or if she had more to tell.

Reiko looked down then, she knew her story would bring up some bad memories. Not everyone had it as good as she did, to be able to make the choice about where she wanted to go in life. Some of the other girls here were simply forced into it. Not as fortunate as she was at all. "Gomen nassai Luna-sama." Reiko spoke softly, she did not wish to bring up memories that were painful.

"I'm sure it will be, Reijin-chan!" She giggled as pointed out a seat across the way from her for the maid to take. "Yokome and Tanpopo, watch me as I pour the tea." In delicate motion, she reached with her right hand for the tea kettle and carefully pulled back her kimono sleeve to reveal the underside of her wrist, while she poured each of the girls a cup of tea. She poured herself a cup and set the tea kettle down with gentle grace. "Now tell me, my younger sisters, what did I just do?"

Luna looked at her with tears in her eyes. "I was just like you when I was little, my mother was a Geisha and quite renouned, she was beautiful but due to illness she was forced to retire and married her Danna, I was born. my mother went into Kimono making." she paused and smiled. "She was amazing we spend hours sewing listening to the bird, until the war started my father a general was drafted out then my mother died..." she paused unable to go on for a moment until her voice calmed. "Then I was sent here my father felt that because we lost everything in the war he figured he could give me a chance at a better life and to have all the things he couldn't give me." She smiled then looked at the maid.

Reijin took the seat she was offered, quietly smoothing her kimono of any wrinkles. Folding her hands in her lap, she watched Iyasu give a lesson to her maiko, filing the information away for later use. Pouring tea was an essential skill for geisha, and Iyasu performed the task with grace and skill.
Reijin was impressed with the geisha. Growing up, she had never really given much thought to the world of geisha, and was instead thrown headfirst into it when her uncle needed extra money and decided to sell her to the Hanamachi. Now, watching Iyasu, she was moved by her grace and beauty, and honestly admired her.

"Onee-san, you poured the tea in a manner so that....how should I put this...to impress the gentelman that you are pouring the tea for...sort of 'flirting' too I'm not quite sure how to put it." Yokome said she she took a sip of her tea. "If you show him the underside of your wrist, that is a way of flirting!" Yokome said with a giggle.

"Very good, Yokome!" She smiled and gave a wink to Reijin, "Now, this act is a way of 'flirting.' Men find that the underside of a woman's wrist is, well, sensual. Also, the back of the neck of as well. That is why we make the prongs with our white make-up." Iyasu smirked a little, "I know it might be a little over bearing at first, but I promise you'll get used to it. Now, with food . . ." Iyasu separated mochi as if it were different forms of sushi and then served it to each of the girls. "It is important to note to separate some foods and also to cut the food into smaller portions for the patron. Does that make sense?"

Reiko's heart went out to the girl as she heard her story. She had the perfect family it seemed at first and then, the fates took a horrible turn for her. "I'm sorry Luna-sama..." Reiko whispered as she had inched closer to the Maiko, resting a hand on the woman's shoulder. "I'm sure though, wherever your mother might be, she is looking down on you and smiling. Praising the Gods that she has such a wonderful and kind hearted daughter."

Lunas wrds were ment to be soft but ended up comming out cold, "She's the luckey one... My mother had so many plans for my sister and I before her illnesss took her life, but she did leave me one gift." Luna smiled. "A kimono... her greatest ever made, my father was forced to sell the others to pay for use to eat and live but he kept one, just for me. so when I became a Geisha I could wear it in honour of Selena." She hadn't said her mother's name in many years but ti felt good to admit her feelings to th maid, she liked this girl and hoped they woudl be able to go to the same colasses together.

"Oh arigato dear." Kyoku took the tray from the maid and set it on a small table near her futon. "Thats all i need right now, enjoy your night." Kyoku gave a small, but pleasant bow and smiled. "I'll be retiring for the rest of day." With a delicate motion towards the door she stood and walked over so she could close the door after the maid had left.

"I'm sorry Luna-sama." Again Reiko expressed how she felt to the woman. Really she had known nothing of the hardships of some of the geisha and even the maiko until she came here. She had thought all of them willingly picked this hard road. She was very wrong though, and knew now, that she had been foolish in thinking that everyone had it the same as she did. "I must seem like such a child to you with my thinking... I am sorry if I offended you in any manner."

Luna shook her head and smiled. "It helps to talk about things, and I like your company it isn't often I make friends and there are very few I actually know here, Popo is my best friend another Maiko like I am, and soon you'll be one aswell." Luna smiled. "Different situations build different people, you are the way you are because of how you were raised, as am I by being through what I have I understand loss and I pity and sympathize, you though had a good upbringing which in turn tuaght you kindness respect and acceptence of choice." She had a point though it was rare to hear such realism from her especially on such a day Luna didn't often say what she felt or thought.

Tanpopo watched intently, then looked away. She stared at the wall wondering, 'How will I ever make a good geisha..? Or maiko for that matter! I don't know how to be a good geisha, a good maiko, a good person...How will I ever be successful..? And what about Sasami and Luna? How will I ever tell them that I have an older sister when they do not? I have an older sister and they do not...I don't want them to be without. I feel bad for having one when they are without. I cannot help but thinking about them without one...why? Why? WHY?!' Tanpopo's face fell into her hands and she began to weep. She felt terrible for her friends, especially because she felt the same way after one was promoted to maiko before she was. She did not want to hurt her friends.
Popo then rose and ran away. She ran down the hall and then outside. She hid in the garden where she wept as quietly as she could. She did not want to be bothered and was well hidden. Popo sat, holding her knees to her chest and resting her head upon her knees, and simply wept. She did not know how to face the trials ahead of her and feared destroying the relationships she had with others. She was unsure if her concerns were founded or not, but knew in her heart that she did not want to ruin her friendships..ever.

Luna paused and stood up. "Reiko, wait here I'll be right back." She rose and walked out picking up the umbrela she new that cry and the voice, popo's. It wasn't raining as bad as before but it was very cold and she knew the girl would get soaked and sick if she stayed out in this weather. Luna looked for her friend until she found Popo. "My dear Popo-chan! You'll catch cold and get ill in this rain!" She held out her hand to help the young Maiko up and smiled holding the umbrella over them to prevent being soaked herself. "Something wrong? why are you crying?" She knelt down forgetting about the rain and hugged her friend.
