Has anybody ever noticed how highly marketable orphans are?Anime, Video Games, Books, everybody loves an orphan story.
Harry Potter alone captured the world's attention for a decade. Lets look at some examples of popular orphans. Mario and Luigi never knew their parents. The stork dropped their asses. Almost all of the Links have nobody, except Wind Waker. Fox's mom is never really mentioned, and his dad got... well something. Not to mention all of the orphans out to get revenge for their parents/village/whatever being attacked. Even the pokemon trainer who still has one parent is the hero.
I am not even gonna get into anime. The stupid Naruto series alone has enough orphans to sink a ship.
Why does everybody always make the orphan the hero? Wasn't the loss of their parents enough?
