She gave a laugh that was obviously fake and nowhere near her normal way of such a sound. "Knowing my clumsy self, I'd probably be a prime lightining conductor too. I was hoping it was only going to rain..." Resting her hands over her ears again at that rumble that she hated...before sliding into Kaz at the abrubt movement of ship. Though she quickly righted herself and flopped her wings around her person. No need to make things awkard adn well...if she tried hard enough she could probably hide in her own wings. Don't appear wimpy about this. "No...I think I'm fine." Said as she let her tail wrap into some rigging present with them. Okay...what was idle okay conversation that was distracting? "At least it's just a regular storm, you know?"
Ears twitched at the sounds that was clearly heard over dripping rain and she scratched at Chylithair's feathers as he gave a soft croon when Shyrae came over, offing up some comfort. And thus lean she did...hated feeling so pathetic about it though. But she couldn't help it...water made sound do all kinds of funny things. "I would rather it bite over bark." Sighing lightly, trying to listen and get her bearing on things...stupid drips. "How bad is it out there?" Shyrae was wet, so it wasn't hard to tell she'd been out there.
Ah heavy long coats, they made rain so much more bearable. But of course she was on deck as well, passing out orders either through herself or Thobias. A look over at Chimera as Hunter yelled at them and duely passed out orders, an inspection of her nails and then a look back to Thobias. "No, stay on our course and give me half sail...I'm not going to follow him and get my sails all ripped up and my rigging tangled...also, make sure everyone has a nice hot meal passed around to keep the chill off our bones. Necessary deck crew only please." Calm, collected, rain seemed to calm her a bit.

Hunter looked back and jumped up on the back railing of his ship, nevermind the heavier rain comgin as the storm loomed up closer.
"What's the matter Gem? getting a little frail in your old age?"
that should rile her. and then a look up at the crow's nest, and a slight frown.
"Mister Richards, get the rum ready. nothing warms the body like some good hard rum...and get that damned canopy off my crow's nest..I need one of them up there to help with the look out, not to mention it's causing drag."
To which Mr. Richards nodded and had orders for rum to be dispensed..as well as hot soup. after all, he knew better than to try and ride through a storm with half drunken sailors...before climbing the rigging to the crow's nest.
"Afraid you two are going to have to drop canvas. we coudl use a solid lookout and the canvasing is creating lag. the mast has been damaged enough already, can't afford to break ti completely in the stormwinds."

Shyrae reached up and pushed her hood back gently then began to pull her fingers through the other elf's hair, avoiding beads and such that would snap against her fingers and hurt. "Starting to come down harder and the lightning is pretty bad too. I stayed out longer than I should have. Spyrit was not pleased." She couldn't help herself though. Daddy hated the surface and while he didn't forbid her from going up there, it was highly frowned on. Her mother was afraid something unfortunate was going to happen and had limited her romps. And there were no storms in the Underdark. Every once in a while they got some drips when it rained nonstop on the surface and filtered through to the soil, but that was pretty rare.
"I'm no expert but it'll probably pass pretty soon. Have you written your parents lately?" Inane conversation sure, but it might take her mind off of the storm. Though her stomach didn't take too kindly to the sudden pitching of the ship and she held onto Savvy so she didn't go tumbling.
Thobias rolled his eyes and watched the Chimera head off straight towards the worst of the storm. "Is it too mean to wish he would fall off and become a plaything for a sea slug?" A shake of his head and he snagged a crew member and counted off the necessary then sent the rest below deck. "Tell Adam to get his famous soup on the boil. We're going to need it in fair amounts today." He wasn't leaving the deck, always at the Captain's side.

That was not a normal laugh, rather one that was designed to ward off suspicion or maybe in this case, concern. "It's at these times that I really start to miss the safety of home." The sudden lurch also caught him by surprise and he instinctively brought an arm up to grab the rail and brace both of them against the crow's nest wall. "As opposed to the red ones, you mean? Yes, we're lucky not to have experienced one of those."
Though another surprise soon greeted him, announcing itself first as drops of wetness fell down his neck and then as the first mate appeared. Blinking as the rain attacked his face and eyes, he merely nodded and quickly gathered up the blankets they were using into a canvas bag. "I understand. Take Jae down below deck and get her something warm to drink." Giving her that 'be careful' look. Quite obviously the first mate had come on behalf of Hunter but Kaz wouldn't argue with the captain in a situation like this, though he was slightly apprehensive about the mast potentially breaking...

She narrowed her eyes. Did he just call her old? If she ever got hold of him she was stringing him from her yardarm and then using him as target practice. " Tilting her head and crossing her arms, rain trickling off the rim of her hat. "Your bait tastes like idiocy hunter! Wreck your own ship, not mine!" Though giving a rather stoic chuckle as if she was emulating the serious nature of the storm. "Of course it's not too mean. It's right mild in fact. On second thought, give me full sail...I'd like this behind us as soon as possible so we can sea clear skys and open sand ahead of us...there's little mountain ranges and rock reefs in this area...I'd like to not run aground or into any of it at all. And we're faster than Chimera...two rubies says that even going around, at full sail we'll beat him."
She squinted an eye, what the hell were they doing up there? It wasn't pleasant though. But she did note the increasing activity of muting rain and the like. Not pleasant once more. "Well...that's good to know. The sooner the better this is over." It was a pity, she actually loved the way thunder sounded, but it always had to come with damned rain. "I wrote daddy yesterday, asking for some supplies and such and also to make sure your parents knew where you were. I either expect to see him or get a letter back from him soon enough.
"Yeah, those. Just uneasy to think about sometimes even if we are too young to have experienced it." Before blinking as their little nice dry sanctuary was intruded upon. Well that sucked now didn't it...adn didn't make her happy at all. About to say something when Kaz interjected with his own orders that apparently concerened her as well. Folding back her wings she took a moment to untangle her tail. "Stay safe, okay?" Before letting herself be led down to the deck and then below it...hm, wasn't feeling any better still.

He had his spyglass out, and noted the Claw's sails.
"Mister Richards! tighten the rigging and the misen ropes. I want this sail so full of wind it makes the mast groan. I'll not have the Claw beat me around this storm we're going through."
Mister Richards chuckled lightly and did what he was asked.
"Dragon-kin! keep watch if you can for any kind of obstacles. we'll need your eyes!"
the storm picked up, and the rain was fierce enough to have everyone above the deck soaked through. lighting flashing around, a few cases even cracking on the sand near them. and there was Hunter, laughing and daring the storm to strike him down, one hand on the helm and the other on a bottle of rum.

Watching the other Captain, he shook his head. "On second thought, let him fall into a whirl fish's pool and drown slowly and highly painfully. That would serve him right." Nobody called his Captain old. Hunter was damn lucky it was that windy out or he would have had a bullet in his...well...he should just be glad it was windy. Bullets coming back at them were less than pleasant. He turned to the crew a moment later. "You heard her you sea slugs! Full sail ahead! Let's show that excuse for a pirate ship the way a real vessel works!" He turned back to Gem and glanced at the storm for a moment then at the other ship. "Four rubies says we leave him in the dust and he cries about it too. Then he tries to board our ship and get you into bed but that's an additional two rubies."
"Oh...well that was nice of you." So now her parents knew without a shadow of a doubt where she was and who she was with. She wasn't quite sure how to feel about that considering they probably weren't pleased in the least. So far they hadn't come to get her but then Savvy had just sent the letter so...maybe they were on their way right now. That was a frightening thought, wasn't it?
She glanced up as the sound of heavy footsteps caught her attention and saw the female dragon who was friends with Kaznec coming towards them. Of course at that moment, something strange was goign on above the deck and the ship pitched sending her and Savvy tumbling from the hammock as it flipped. Before they could get their bearings, the ship pitched again and they went tumbling in a ball-like form straight towards the dragon. "Look out!"

yes hunter was enjoying this, spinning the wheel one way and the other to avoid fast changing obstacles and flowing into the rain and wind and turnign this way and that for the boosts in speed that stormwinds can give when harnessed, drinking and laughing like a manic the entire time. or at least a maniac to those that didn't enough such weather. yes by now everyone above deck was drenched, clothing sticking to skin, some see through by now, revealing tattoos and such. the Captain had no such marking, but it did show just how well built he was under the loose shirts he wore.
"that Kronos clown still on my ship? why don't he put that board of his to good use and help with the sails and rigging!"

"Would at least be amusing." But a pleased smile as Thobias went about carrying out her orders and such, making sure she never had to scream out things and make her throat raw. Though a raise of an eyebrow and a smile as her first bet was being upped. "A dozen rubies and a diamond says that not only does he do that, but he stinks of rum and is shaking with the sheer amount of adrenaline in his system." Which was slightly appealing...or would of been if he hadn't of called her old. The nerve. "Mister Robins...let's show why we are faster, deploy my Wings, and bring them to full." The Gale Claw's little extra, side sails. One on each side to catch extra wind and thus burst speed, extendable at will through port holes in the hull. Wonderful innovation.
"Don't worry, daddy wouldn't betray me and you either. I worded things a certain way." Though a yelp as they went tumbling from the hammock into a pile of each other, Chylithair giving a screech and taking to the air as Savvy had released him so that he wouldn't be crushed. Then another yelp as the two went rolling again..and into someone else, all of them smacking into the other side of the ship. Of course she took to flailing as something thing and almost rubbery feeling had flooped over them. "By Innoruuk Cauldron! What in the nine hells is that!?" Flailing freaked Savvy wasn't good, usually meant necromantic things.
Sent down under deck like a child...that was horrible wasn't it? Or at least that's how she was taking it. Wasn't too fun...and perhaps not seeing the storm was worse than seeing it. Though she stumbled a little as the ship took rather sporatic movement and someone yelled...to which she turned her head in time to see the ball of elves heading toward her, smacking into her and she falling, getting caught up in them and the three ending up in a pile on the wet floor, her tail tangled amont them and her flings flopped awkwardly over all three of them, and...what the hell was on her horn? She couldn't see. "Ow...are you two alright?" Giving a noise as one took to flailing. "Careful! That can rip!" The membrane between her wings that granted her flight, of course.

Kaz, on the other hand, was not enjoying this storm too much. He too was now throughly soaked through as well and even with a hand and his tail wrapped around the mast, it was hard not to slip and fall while the ship took such sharp turns. The rain kept pounding, seemingly fiercer, and he found himself having to shield his eyes to be able to to at least vaguely make out the terrain around them. It was difficult however, and when he spotted the shadow looming ahead, he blinked a moment to register what he was seeing. Then shouting down to the nearest pirate who was in the rigging below, "Cavern ahead, port side!"
Lighting up from some sleep like state, the Seon floated up to hover by Kaz's shoulder, seemingly unaffected by the rain and the wind. "Looks dark, ominous... Think he'll go in?" At least no one would be wet inside.

"Hmm, dozen rubies and a diamond it is." He knew he was going to lose that bet but women loved jewels and for his Captain, well, he'd give up part of his treasure. He gave her a grin and nodded, "Aye aye, Captain." Turning his gaze to the crew. "Hoist the Sails, sea slugs and be quick about it!" He turned and watched the secondary sails come out as they caught the wind and gave the Claw a major boost as they continued on the sandseas. "Planning on kicking him off your ship or inviting him to swing for a while?"
"Oh well that's goo-" And she was thrown off the hammock to roll into a pile of elves that become elves plus a dragon and a falcon. That was...not pleasant. She rolled slightly and then reached out and grasped Savvy carefully. "Calm down Savryn. It's alright, it's just a dragon." She pushed the wing that had landed on her off carefully and untangled her hair from Jae's horns. "I'm so sorry Lady dragon. The Captain seems to really like storms...." She slowly pulled herself into a sitting position and then helped Savvy into one as well. "Are you alright?" Asked to both of them.

"Brace yourselves lad!" Planting her own feet on the slick deck in preparation for the extra burst of speed, the woman barely rocking as said thing took place. She may be running the edges of the storm, and thus it would take her a little longer in theory...she had her tricks to cut her time. This was a recent new addition to her ship...she probably rivaled Black Dagger now. "I haven't decided, we'll see how I feel when the time comes, you know how I am when storms are about."
She calmed somewhat as Shyrae took hold of her and explained things as well. "A dragon? We hit a dragon?" Oh right...those dragon things whatever they were. Sitting still for a moment and letting Shyrae fix things as well as getting them somewhat in comfortable and stable position. "I think he needs to like them a little less." Brushing a hand through her hair and looking to her shoulder as Chy landed back on her shoulder, giving some reassuring noises. "I'm alright..at least I feel like I am. Though I do think I'm starting to get seasick..." Apparently that was possible without water around too...
Bell made sure to keep relatively still since someone else was doing all the untangling and the like and there was no need to mess things up or get herself hurt...she had already been hurt enough recently. Waiting for everything to settle, she wrapped her tail around her where she was sitting, again wrapping her wings around herself at the noises of storm above deck. "No, I'm sorry, I'm clumsy and have bad luck...should of been able to hold all of us up." Giving a light sigh. "But I'm fine...I'd say you're the ones to be worried about. After all, I'm used to taking tumbles." Shaking her head. "Captain is taking us right though the storm instead of the edges...I don't think it's going to be a pleasant ride.."

Hunter nodded as the information was directed at him, one hand still looking through the storm now with spyglass, and the other both on the wheel with the rum bottle in it...okay, mental check of long memorized maps...oh that was going to be a real treat. and, it would put him out ahead of the Claw even with her Wings. provided they made it through. this storm was a hard one, and that cavern would be awash with fast moving rapids. just the thrill of a storm for him.
"Put on a fresh pair of panties mates! we're going down the gullet!"
which made Mr. Richards look up and shake his head, and made sure everyone was well damned secured. the Gullet was a fast moving sand tunnel. pourous volcanic rock siphoned in air currents like a wind tunnel, and the sands in accord were fast and hard moving. add a storm's water runoff and you got a very dangerous and very fast mode of travel.
"You are out of your damned mind, you know that!?"
Hunter smirked at his first mate.
"You've been telling me that for years...but your still here, aren't you? so don't complain, you can always jump ship!"
Mr. Richards looekd up at the crow's nest. why couldn't he have just said ' rocks ahead'.... as into the depths of the Gullet the Chimera went...and Hunter actually set down the rum to have both hands on the helm, and gone was the wild storm rider and a serious, experienced sailor took it's place. This was going to be fun...but it required concentration and precision.

He merely grasped one of the ropes that was ever present on a pirate ship and held his own weight, well used to the swish and sway of a ship dead set on it's course. Gazing out at the worst of the storm, he lifted the spyglass and glanced through then shook his head. "Foolish. Captain, Chimera has headed into the Gullet. If he's lucky, he'll make it out of there alive. If he's not...well gods be with anyone else on that ship."
Shyrae shook her head and patted Jae's arm lightly. "No one's at fault for this. We couldn't have seen the rocking movement of the ship in enough time to prepare, that's all. As long as everyone is alright?" Getting confirmation on that end, she glanced up as Sundance came up and laid down in front of her whining softly. Reaching down to pet lightly at the wet fur, she sighed. "Captain Deacon will do anything for a little bit of excitement it seems. We'll just have to wait him out." She reached back and rubbed Savvy's back soothingly. "Do tell me if you're going to expel anything. Would you like a potion?"
Eilynne reappeared on deck ten minutes after he chose to make that turn and shook her head. "I will not have this, Captain! Your foolish shortcut is going to get us all killed!" Which then meant that drastic measures had to be taken. Highly unpleased, she snapped out an order in an unidentified language and it appeared that a vortex opened right on the ship. From it a creature, easily identifiable as a Laerethe stepped out, though he was male.
Dresed much the same as she was, his long blue hair was caught back in a half ponytail. His green eyes glittered with a silver star and he stood slightly taller than Eilynne herself. Lifting his hands, he waved a short staff with a swirling ball on top then closed his eyes. Seeming to ignore all of the storm sounds and feelings going on around them, the wind picked up to hyperspeed and blasted them through the tunnel that had become as if a straw that a child had blown into. Landing safely on the other side, the Laerethe continued, directing the ship out of the worst of the storm and back to safer sands.

And apparently they were going in. Rather, down. The Chimera dove straight into the dark cavernous tunnel, rushing forward on the sand and water to pick up speed. Kaz was more apprehensive now. Sailing for indeed not for him. He preferred open spaces where he could extend his wings and fly at will, not this and not this wet either... Looking up at Xeke distracted him a moment and he was hit on the side of the head by an uneven outgrowth on the tunnel's ceiling. A small part of the topmast was cracked off, falling below to the deck as Kaz himself was knocked out and fell to the crow's nest floor. Well, there went the captain's inexperienced lookout. At least he seemed to be handling this ride rather well.
