A Star Trek phaser can also be turned into an explosive.
It was done a few times in TNG. Phasers can be set to overload, resulting in an explosion once they reach critical levels.
Hmm, random thought here... What's the crappiest blaster that ever existed in the SW universe?

I'd like to amend that to say "the one targeting a main character". Picking on Luke isn't quite right. All of the main characters seem to have an invisible shield protecting them from all non-plot-related harm.
Alternatively, the one held by a Stormtrooper in any of the movies.
