((Orrin's still in the hangar. he was ostrasized from the group.))
Orrin stared at the navcom station, partly bitter at the situation unfolding. Not that he really had much concern, mind you, it just seemed wrong.
"Well, if they crash, they'll need a rescue team. Oh my, what spirits I'm in."

Takashi walked into the hangar looking around. Prety much standard issue Hoth parka, heating gear, goggles and gator-mask. "Excuese me" He walked up to Orrin. "Would you happen to know where the leader of Emerald Squadron would be?"

"Yea, they've just taken off to perform routine flight checks on the new speeder modifications. Of course, at the rate we keep gaining and losing recruits, 'leader' is just a more... temporary term it seems. I suggest if you want to catch up, get yourself into a speeder and boogie."

"Ah will do" Takashi nods and heats back. He jumps on the wing and starts to get in "Ah, T-47s.." He gets in the pilots seat and starts up the Icom Systems engines. "Modified for the cold, great" He pulls down the canopy as the craft started to hover in the hangar, then takes off as he hits the throttle.

After a couple of test laps around the base, Kefka decided it was time for a long range test.
"Okay folks, this is how it's gonna go down. Two of us will go out about fifty klicks, while one of us stays behind. This way, if one craft fails, the other is there to back up the fallen craft and whoever remained back here can come to rescue. And if the com between craft starts to falter, I want Base Speeder to move further up so that a proper connection is made. Got it?"

After some testing with the controls Takashi got ahold of controlling the snowspeeder. He starts out on the waypoints his new allies had went. He started picking up a transmission. "And the fourth craft?" Takashi makes a quick circle around the speeders. "Pilot Takashi Ookami reporting, sir" to whoever the leader of the squadron was.

Owen watched the other new recruit take off, without any regard to the fact that speeders such as were present on Hoth usually took two people to be used effectively. Looking over at the bitter man at the navcom station, he handed him his transfer slip, and asked "Why aren't you out flying with them?"

Orrin stared at the slip.
"What's this? Orientation day?" Orrin rolled his eyes, up and down. "If you're part of the new recruits, why aren't you in a speeder? We're only testing out flight controls. Gunnery stations require no extra manpower. Its only a flight demonstration, if you're curious as to what everyone's going out with no backseat fliers."
Orrin listened into the radio garb going through the station.
"As to why I'm here, its very simple Owen. Old farts like myself tend to be cranky. Young farts like Kefka, whose position is solely dependent on the fact he's the only survivor of the original course that hasn't died or been sent to the brig, don't think too well. I'm here to make sure when those speeders crash, that I can be fully agitiated to rub it into his nose. Basically, I get to stay inside the base, and should.... when they find their maneuvering veins fail, I got to ride out on a hairy lizard and save their a**. Orrin's the name by the way."

Owen nooded to Orrin, saying "Thank you sir." before getting into another of the vacant speeders, and fired it up. "Just like a taxi back home, but deadlier." He said, starting the liftoff sequence, finally he got off of the ground, sighing in happiness that the air in the speeder was warmer than the air out of it, and left Echo base for the air beyond. "Emerald leader, this is new recruit Owen Kurn, reporting for duty sir." He said over the radio, hoping that the appropriate person would hear and respond.

Kefka got no reply except a hail from some guy named Owen.
"T-47 Speeder, this is Emerald Leader..requesting clearance" he asked, waiting for the man to transmit the clearance info to his speeder.
"Okay, you're good. Revise plan to twp speeders out and one in," he told the rest of the group.

"Thank you sir." Owen said, looking around the frigid wasteland for signs of more speeders. "What are your coordinates?" He asked finally when he realized that he couldn't see anyone anywhere.

"Oh, ok sir." Owen said, slapping himself when he turned off the com-link. He made his way to where the Emerald Squadron flew. Falling into position behing them, he asked over the com. "Any further orders?"

"Seems I'm not the only new pilot anymore." Azure said as she got into position behind Kefka. "This place looks more Barren than Ryloth."

"Snow, and more snow...okay who wants to fly out?" he queried as he checked the systenm settings, which were for now okay.
