Keegan grinned and waved his hand to show that he'd heard Flannery's shouts. He didn't know about a gazillion badges, but he'd definitely have a few new ones by the time he came back here again - Flannery's "or else" wasn't anything to be taken lightly. His first stop once he was back into the heart of town was the Pokemon Center, naturally. It didn't take long to get his three Pokemon healed and soon he was heading back home. He had a whole lot of Pokemon to feed and his mind raced as he went through the motions of his normal routine. It felt like he'd been telling himself he'd be going to Petalburg to challenge Norman forever, and he never seemed to get there. That would change tomorrow, however. It almost felt good, having a renewed sense of purpose, even if he wasn't aiming to be the champion of anything. Proving to everyone else that he was just as good a trainer as the rest of them was all he needed. For now.
He spent the rest of the evening doing some basic training with Pan, Eithne and Hades, though the baby dragon was far more interested in playing than training. The Growlithe was showing much promise, and Keegan made the snap decision to use her in the gym match tomorrow, but first he'd have to acquire a Fire Stone to evolve her. He wasn't exactly sure why or how, but he knew she was ready for it. Eithne seemed pleased with the concept of a much larger form, at the very least. Pan made significant progress as well, at least when he wasn't busy admiring himself or telling the other Pokemon just how great he was. At one point, Eithne showed just how much she agreed with the Grovyle by giving him an up-close-and-personal experience with a Flame Wheel attack.
The next morning was much the same, with Keegan following through with his normal morning duties. Logically, he knew he really didn't have to, and he even went so far as to pretend like yesterday had never even happened when he interacted with his parents, much to their mutual confusion. By mid-morning he was ready to set out again, having decided that his first stop would be the Department Store in Lilycove as he wanted to get that Fire Stone and perhaps a new TM or two for some of his Pokemon, if he could afford it. As he slid his arms into his brown leather jacket, he realized he needed a new one of those, as well, for there was a large patch of missing leather from where Hades had taken a bite out of it yesterday. That was like, what, the third jacket that had been ruined on him? Perhaps it was a sign that he needed to pick a new style.
The thought of flying to Lilycove with his Skarmory caused a near-instant migraine, and after a bit of psyching himself up, he found himself asking his father if he could temporarily borrow The Dame to get him there, and to Petalburg. Todd, while still confused by his son's stranger-than-usual behavior, knew what a royal a*****e Alvero was and agreed almost instantly, so long as the boy were to send the Charizard back home the moment he touched down in Petalburg. Keegan wondered if his father's agreement had anything to do with yesterday but he chose not to dwell on it, instead genuinely thanking his old man and even hugging his mother goodbye before he left this time.
Charizard are infinitely cool, Keegan thought as The Dame sped through the sky, and he knew he'd be safely in Lilycove in no time. After a few moments of reveling in the relative silence of the flight, he made a mental note to start searching out a quieter flier. He'd had just about enough of Alvero's attitude. Time seemed to literally fly by as their destination came into view, and Keegan marveled at the fact that he didn't even have to tell Dame where to go specifically. The tall Department Store stuck out like a sore thumb as the duo neared it, but something ahead caught Keegan's eye and he unintentionally gripped the dragon tighter - yeah, his eyes weren't playing tricks on him; Nitro had just landed in front of the building, Mike and Kasiya his passengers. "Up, up!" he urged, and The Dame complied easily, though she seemed confused as to her rider's intentions. "The roof, yeah." The grand Charizard landed gracefully on the roof, looking over her shoulder at Keegan as he hopped down from her back. "I'll... explain later, all right?" he said, the Dame responding by giving the boy a gentle nudge with her nose.

With their opponents down for the count Gigas and Odin decided to let their trainer handle things. Well, Gigas decided to. Odin had gotten distracted and started drawing squiggles in the dirt. Mateus however, had heard all that was happening. The Metapod had been trying to sleep until its nap had been disturbed by all the noise going on outside. Finally fed up with the noise the bug type erupted from the pokeball and onto the scene.
What she found was two low lives threatening her trainer. Only she could harm her trainer! She locked onto Steve's knife and hit the hand with a string shot, smothering the weapon in the sticky substance rendering it useless. As Steve flailed about he yanked back just as Matues used tackle. With the added force of the pull the Metapod flew into Steve's face and dropped the man like a sack of potatoes.
Bob and Kressen simply gaped at the brutal Metapod as it sat atop Steve's chest before Kressen made the first moved and charged to take advantage of the distraction. Bob attempted to stab at him with the knife, but Kressen brushed the man's hand aside by the wrist pushing the knife away and then rammed his shoulder hard in to the center of Bob's chest.

"Sounds like a plan," Kasiya agreed, scanning the city as Nitro began to descend down in front of the Department Store. The last time she'd been to this city, before yesterday's hospital visit with Mike, it had been for the Breeder's Gala (the evening before the ship left for Sinnoh, that is) where she spent the night serving as a waitress, thanks to Champion Cynthia's pulling of some strings with the event organizers. Her heart sank a little as she remembered just why she'd tried so hard to get into the gala, as she'd been desperate to talk to Keegan and reconcile their relationship. It seemed like yesterday, but also like forever ago, and she gave a quiet sigh. She was sure that a part of her would never stop feeling guilty for how things turned out for him.
"We sure are! That's how many landings now without a crash?" Kasiya asked once she'd been helped down from the dragon's back. "Seriously, though, Nitro. Thanks for everything." she smiled fondly at the Charizard as he was recalled, and looking up at the building in question. "Yeah, that sounds about right," she nodded. Before she'd boarded the ship for Sinnoh, she'd done a bit of shopping and she smiled to herself as she recalled that peculiar Jason kid and how he'd randomly fall asleep in mid-sentence and then pop back awake like nothing had happened. As they entered the multi-level store, Kasiya had taken out her PokeDex to sift through the entries of the Pokemon she planned to work with, namely Pepper, Alphonse and Zaira for the moment and eventually Ariados too, as the spidery Pokemon was in need of some new moves. She also thought that Seto might like to spend some time with her as he'd been left out of the last mission and gym battle.
Alphonse didn't really need any new moves however, as she'd already taught him how to use Water Pulse and Ice Beam (in theory, anyway as the Piplup had yet to master either technique). A good way to break the proverbial ice with Zaira could be to offer the Shinx a new move, and it wouldn't hurt to see what little Pepper could learn. "Oh, wow," she murmured, looking closer at the screen of the PokeDex. "It says that Minccino can evolve with the use of a Shiny Stone. Never heard of that kind of stone before, though," she continued as they made their way along. "Fourth floor it is, but do you know where they sell evolution stones?" she asked as they headed for the elevator.
=-=-=-=-= Magnemite and Sigilyph had been lingering behind their trainer as he was off exploring and playing tea party with the strange little girl, but the sudden crashing sound from the far wing of the house alerted both Pokemon to the fact that something was definitely wrong. The two odd Pokemon exchanged what could pass for worried looks before they went after him, flying up and over the railing and down the hallway. The first thing the two Pokemon noticed was that there was a giant, gaping hole in the floor, the second being that their trainer was nowhere to be found. Magnemite circled the area before its single eye gazed down through the hole in the floor, and it buzzed loudly to get Sigilyph's attention. The two Pokemon had a very short discussion about it and quickly came to the conclusion that it was likely that their trainer had fallen through the floor. Too bad he couldn't fly.
Sigilyph, oddly enough, was the more worried of the two Pokemon as they drifted down through the hole. It seemed that luck hadn't been on Jake's side today as the force of the first fall had carried him through the floor below, and the two Pokemon eventually found him among a pile of broken boards. Sigilyph pushed some of the debris from him while Magnemite simply observed. He hadn't appeared to suffer any major injuries, but he was out cold, that much was certain. The two Pokemon exchanged glances again but did nothing else, as there wasn't much they could do until Jake woke up again.
=-=-=-=-= It was impossible for Professor Oak not to laugh out loud at Kressen's Metapod's display, and with tears brimming in the corners of his eyes, he looked down at the Metapod he was still holding. "Say, how come you didn't think of that?" he asked the Cocoon Pokemon curiously, receiving only a somewhat irritated stare (as best a cocoon could manage) in reply. In the meantime, Kressen had decided to make a rather daring move, charging in at the distracted Rocket, who's wild knife swings were easy for Kressen to avoid before he introduced him to his rather broad shoulder. The professor was quite certain that this would all be over soon, and he sighed, wondering what other measures of security he could implement around the lab - like perhaps setting up a bunch of pitfalls, complete with swarms of Muk and Grimer at the bottoms of them.

"Same floor as the TMs: the fourth." he said in reply. "And yeah, I've never heard of that either. When I looked at Pumpkin the other day the 'dex said he evolves with a Dusk Stone after his next form. Maybe they'll have that here, too." he shrugged, walking in the elevator and pressing the appropriate number. "Always liked that number." he mused, stepping back as the doors closed and they lurched upward. Mike looked over at Kasiya. He could tell her brain was buzzing with plans; no doubt how to pamper her Pokemon. For once, he was the more single-minded of the two of them. "Cutie." he said, planting a kiss on the side of her head. "Never change."
The elevator ride was over in moments, and soon they found themselves on arguably the most coveted of floors for any Pokemon trainer. After all, who didn't like giving their Pokemon cool new moves? "Split up and search for clues?" Mike said, gently detaching himself from Kasiya and giving her a quick two-fingered salute before walking over to the racks. His Pokemon already had a great deal of powerful machine moves in their arsenals, but he had one particular 'mon in mind today. "As a reward for all your tremendous work lately," he started, scanning the shelves for a specific disc. "And because I am a kind and just master," Aha! There it was. TM80: Rock Slide. "I am giving you this new move, Portabello."
But he has already learned the maximum amount of moves possible. a ghost protested, rising from behind the rack.
"I was wondering where you guys were!" Mike said, grabbing the disc. "And I know that, duh. I'm going to make him forget Sludge Bomb. He hated using that move anyway." Not that hearing things was anything remotely out of the ordinary for him, but the boy could have sworn he heard a familiar voice thanking him for his most recent acquisition. Mike looked down at the Ultra ball that housed his Breloom.
Has his power grown that considerably where he can sense outside of his confinement? the phantom pondered.
"Wouldn't surprise me in the slightest." Mike said with a grin. "Portabello always finds a way to surprise me! Even more of a reason to spoil him rotten." Disc in hand, Mike walked over to the counter and presented it to the cashier. A scrawny boy about his age with shaggy blond hair. "You wouldn't happen to have dusk stones in stock would you?" he asked. As it turned out, they did.
"TM80 and a Dusk Stone." the cashier repeated with practiced sincerity. "Your total comes to $6,000." Mike frowned. He was just short; only $100.
"I'll just take the TM then, please."
After all, your Litwick will not be evolving any time soon. You can always acquire one at a later date.
Mike nodded in agreement. "Yeah, it's no big deal." Thanking the cashier, he turned around and placed the disc in his bag. As he did, his hand brushed up against the Red Orb and his stomach clenched a bit. "Just a bit longer." he said to himself. Clearing his throat, Mike walked over to a nearby bench and waited for his lovely company to finish up her part of the trip. She could take all the time she wanted, he was more than content to lie down and relax.

As excited as Riza was for Faustus' evolution, hers was nothing compared to what Selena was going through. Despite having distanced herself to practice her newly learned Vine Whip, the Dratini's evolution hadn't been subtle and the Snivy turned to look as the bright white light lit up the entire area. Selena couldn't believe her eyes as the Dratini was suddenly much, much bigger, faster, and strong looking! And did she mention he was bigger?! The way he ran over the Quilava practically made the grass-type's eyes bug out and she inched a bit closer. That was so cool! Would she get bigger like that some day?
Riza still pretty giddy about her newly evolved Dragonair, even as she walked over to the zonked out Eris and picked her up. The Quilava was dangerously overconfident sometimes and she sighed, petting the fire-type's head. "You kinda had that one coming," she said, giving the Quilava a kiss on the nose before returning her to her poke ball for some much deserved rest. Faustus meanwhile had made his way back over to his trainer somewhat apprehensively as even he was a bit taken back by his new size. Riza smiled up at him and placed her hand on his nose. "Pretty impressive," she said, smiling brightly. "Clair has definitely done a great job with you. I only hope that I can do a good enough job now," she added, the last part a tiny bit sad. Faustus cooed and nuzzled her hand with his nose. They hadn't been together very long, but he liked Riza, and most of her Pokemon too.
Speaking of the others he had noticed that Selena was openly staring at him though when he turned to look at the Snivy she gave a yelp and went back to slapping the nearby boulders with her vines. The Dragonair nudged Riza and she looked over at the grass-type, grinning broadly yet again. "Selena, when did you learn Vine Whip?" she asked, walking over to the Snivy and kneeling down beside her. Selena gave a bit of a shrug in reply. "Wanna try it again? You're gonna need it for when we take down Brock!" The Snivy nodded and turned her sights on the boulder again. Her eyes narrowed in concentration and she unleashed two strong whips, both landing in the same spot one after the other. The boulder even cracked a little, much to Selena and Riza's delight. "That's the way! Keep it up and that next badge it ours!" * * * * * "Well, we got the data at least," Katie mumbled to herself as she got back to the pokecenter. She felt good about that part at least and by now her guilt over the whole egg thing had given way to worry about what would happen about what would happen when she met up with Mai again. Would she get kicked out already? The orange haired girl sighed as she plopped down on one of the sofas.
Maybe she just wasn't cut out for all of this. She must have been a bit tired because before long she'd fallen asleep, only to be woken by the chirping of her phone. She rubbed her eyes as she dug it out of her pocket and checked it, it was a message from Kilik, complete with a photo. Smiling, she hit reply but stopped, staring up at the ceiling. She didn't know what to say so she simply closed it, holding her phone in her hands as she continued to stare off into space.
Katie knew that she couldn't put off going to Veilstone forever as eventually the Rocket second in command would probably notice and she sighed again, looking out the window in the direction of the daycare. Her eyes narrowed and she stood up, heading back outside. Now wasn't the time to sit around here and mope. She had a gym battle coming up and she wanted to be damned sure that all of her Pokemon were ready, even obstinate little Darla. "Come on guys, let's go find some trainers to smack around," she said to herself as she started up the route.

The sun was shining brightly as Benjamin biked up Route 30 from Cherrygrove City, his Pichu clinging tightly to his shoulder. He had bought a potion from the local Mart just in case he ran into trouble, and he had five pokeballs that he was itching to use on wild pokemon. If he found any, that is...
Coming upon a grassy area next to a pond, Ben decides to take a little rest, hopping off his bike and resting it onto its side while Pichu hops down and sits in the grass, waggling its arms happily at its cool, refreshing feel. Ben smiled and sat down next to his friend, who hops into his lap and lets him stroke its ears with a small chuckle. "It's a really nice day, isn't it, Pichu?" he said to it, grabbing a little Pokemon food out of his bag and handing the small yellow Pokemon a bite, who takes it and nibbles it happily while Ben takes a long drink from his water bottle. He had made sure to take a couple of bags of the Pichu's food from home, since he didn't know the next time he would find some. They hadn't been traveling for too long, Cherrygrove was still just an hour south from where they were at. But with all of this beautiful scenery, Ben couldn't pass up to opportunity to sit and take a rest. And Pichu seemed to be enjoying himself, too, now walking around in the grass around him and sniffing at the flowers curiously. They would rest here for a while, and then continue on toward Violet City.

A little while of resting at the pretty spot on Route 30, and Benjamin was picking up his bike and looking to Pichu, who was still snoozing on the grass. Pulling its Pokeball from his belt, he pulled it in to let it rest in peace while he mounted his bike and set off at a steady pace up the route. It was mid-afternoon now, and he could see lots of Pokemon as he passed by: Weedle and Caterpie crawling around in tall grass, and even some Pidgey flying between the trees and digging in the ground for grubs (maybe even those wriggling Caterpie nearby...). 'I can't still can't believe I'm on my very own adventure!' he thought to himself as he sped up the path. He hoped to be in Violet City by nightfall, or he'd have to make camp somewhere. At least if he was stuck outside, the Summer night would ensure that he was warm. The only other thing that he might have to worry about were wild Pokemon, but he figured that his Pichu should be able to handle anything that was around here. Bug type Pokemon were pretty weak, and he knew that his Pichu's Thundershock would take care of any pesky Flying type Pidgey that gave him a problem. 'Who knows, I might eventually be able to snag a Pidgey', he thought. 'A Flying type Pokemon would make a good addition to my team.'

A little further up the route, and Ben could hear the cries of battling Pokemon. Excited, he pedals faster until he sees two kids battling each other with a Pidgey and a Rattata. The Rattata was quick, but the Pidgey had the advantage of flight as it took to the air to evade the Rattata's Tackle attack. Quietly, Ben gets off his bike and inches closer to watch the battle. It was so cool! The Pidgey was tackling the Rattata from the air, and it seemed to be losing -- but then, all of a sudden it leaped and knocked Pidgey out of the air with a Tail Whip! The Pidgey crumpled to the ground, its wings twitching tiredly while Rattata finishes it off with speedy Quick Attack, making the weak Pidgey roll across the ground with the impact, defeated. Ben's mouth was wide while the Pidgey's trainer calls it back into its pokeball. 'That Rattata is fast,' he thought with awe. Suddenly, the trainer's eyes catch his and he feels his spine stiffen with a nervous gulp. He was caught.
"Hey!", the trainer said while his Rattata returns to his side. "Hey, are you a Trainer? Let's battle!" The Rattata still looked hyped up and ready to go, sounding off a battle cry while it's eyes gleamed with fighting spirit. Ben knew that now, he had little choice. He just hoped that his Pichu was strong enough. He had never battled with it before, so this was a good opportunity to test its potential. Nodding, he steps forward to the other trainer, pulling Pichu's pokeball from his waist. "I'll accept your challenge. My name's Ben." The other trainer grinned, his Rattata getting ready. "I'm Joey, and my Rattata's ready to pummel you! Let's go!" Ben grins slightly, excitement flooding through him. His very first Pokemon battle! Stepping back, he pressed the button on his pokeball, releasing Pichu and smiling down to him. "Alright, Pichu, it's time to shine! Let's get ready for a match!" Pichu tilts his head, his cheeks sparking slightly before he bounces up and down and stands on its head. "Piii~!" ======================================================== Without any hesitation, Joey calls his first move. "Rattata, Quick Attack!" This was the move that Ben was intimidated by the most, and he watched with anticipation as the Rattata takes off at a blinding speed, darting toward his little Pichu. ======================================================== Pichu stares at his oncoming attacker, eyes wide while he waits for Ben to tell him what to do. Ben thinks hard for a minute before finally shouting, "Pichu, jump up high and hit it with your Tail Whip!" The Pichu quickly jumps at the last minute, thwacking the charging Rattata with his tail and knocking it off balance before landing behind it. Ben grins at his luck and nods. "Great job!" ======================================================== Joey glares as his attack is evaded, shouting out, "Quick, Rattata, use your Tackle before it moves away!" The Rattata catches its balance and turns around, bounding into a flying tackle and hitting Pichu square in the chest, sending him flying. Joey smirks, thinking that he's got the advantage now. "Gotcha!" ======================================================== Ben winces as his Pichu is sent flying, his hands balling into fists. "Pichu! Are you okay? Come on, get up!" The Pichu struggles to his feet, looking back at his trainer and nodding that he is okay, then looking back to his foe with angry sparks in his cheeks. "Pii!" Ben smiles proudly at his pokemon. Pichu really wanted to keep going. Nodding, Ben points a finger straight at Rattata. "Pichu, use your Charm!" Pichu snickers and shines cute, beady eyes at the Rattata, bouncing around playfully on his head and tail and waggling his body adorably to get the Rattata's attention. Even Ben's expression softened. He couldn't believe how adorably cute his pokemon was. ======================================================== Joey's head tilts with confusion at the Pichu's odd behavior. "Rattata, don't let it fool you!" The Rattata sits back, its head tilting just like its Trainer's, and it's eyes shining with a little fondness for the cute little Pichu. Joey, shakes his head and commands quickly, "Rattata, come on! Give it another Tackle!" Rattata looks back and nods at its trainer, running toward Pichu with a little hesitation before giving it a weak tackle, almost not wanting to hurt the little pokemon. ======================================================== Pichu gives a somewhat startled cry when it it hit just hard enough to make it fall over, a little tear coming to its eyes before Ben shouts out, "Pichu, that was great! Quick, before Rattata changes its mind! Give it another Tail Whip!" Pichu quickly spins, smacking the bewildered Rattata strongly in the face with its tail before hopping away and giggling. ======================================================== The Rattata looks startled as it is struck with Pichu's tail, looking back at the Pokemon with an angry gleam in its eyes, obviously feeling insulted. Joey growls out before commanding his pokemon, "Quick Attack, Rattata! Finish it!" The Rattata turns and speeds off toward the Pichu, putting all of its effort into its final move. ======================================================== Ben's eyes widen at Joey's command, looking to Pichu quickly. "Pichu, dodge it fast! Hit it with your best Thundershock!" Pichu yelps and scrambles away from the onrushing pokemon, leaping up high when the Rattata turns to follow him in an attempt to hit him a second time. Once in the air, the Pichu's cheeks spark brightly before it releases a sizzling stream of electricity, shocking the little rat pokemon strongly for several seconds before landing back to the ground, panting while his cheek sacs fizzle out. ======================================================== Joey looks on with horror as his Rattata struggles feebly to get up before collapsing to the ground, unconscious. He couldn't believe it! Looking back to Ben, he recalls Rattata to its pokeball and concedes defeat. "You win, Ben. Good fight. Rattata never gets beat..."
Ben grins widely and rushes to pick up his Pichu, nuzzling it with a laugh. "You did it, Pichu! You really did it! You won our very first Pokemon battle!" Pichu looks up at his trainer tiredly, nodding with a happy expression at having made Ben so proud. Smiling gently, Ben returns Pichu to his pokeball to rest while he goes to Joey and shakes his hand with a nervous laugh. "Thanks for the match, Joey. Your Rattata is really tough!" Joey smiles slightly and nods, returning the handshake. "Yeah, thanks. We'd better get our Pokemon to the PokeCenter... The nearest one's in Violet City, a couple hours from here. You probably shouldn't battle until your Pichu gets a rest there." Nodding quietly, Ben goes and gets his bike, picking it up and mounting it. "Yeah, that's a good idea. Thanks for the tip." Waving with a smile to the other Trainer, Ben rides off and continues on his way, pedaling quickly to try and make it to Violet City before dark. That battle had taken up a good bit of time...

Kasiya nodded along as Mike spoke, as she recalled seeing something similar when she'd looked up the baby Litwick and Axew in the PokeDex the other day. She wasn't sure what she was going to buy, but she had a healthy amount of money saved up and it was practically burning a hole in her pocket. She beamed slightly at Mike's kiss, her smile impossibly huge. As she watched him wander off to do some browsing of his own, she couldn't help but think of how she'd never grow tired of little moments like that.
"Let's see..." she murmured, PokeDex still in hand as she started along the closest aisle. "Ooh, Normal-type moves! Pepper's a Normal-type!" The little blonde was practically giddy with excitement as she examined disc after disc, picking one up and then putting it back as she grabbed another. She could already tell that it was going to be quite difficult to pick only a few of them, as she didn't have quite enough to buy out the whole store or anything like that. "Ooh right, Twilight needs a Dark-type move..." she murmured to herself, completely lost in her thoughts as she sifted through the literally hundreds of discs lining all the shelves. It wasn't too long, however, before she found one that seemed just perfect for the Umbreon. "Dark Pulse, awesome!"
Before long she'd also picked up Attract for Pepper, giggling to herself as she knew it would be perfect as the Minccino was so utterly adorable. She also picked up Dig for Ariados, as losing to that girl's Raichu yesterday had not been fun and she thought that it would suit the Bug-type. She considered getting a Thunderbolt TM for Zaira, but after a bit more research she discovered that the Shinx evolution line seemed to prefer physical moves to special ones. "Who would have thought that?" she thought, finally selecting an Iron Tail move for her cute little blue and black electric kitten.

Once The Dame had been secured inside her PokeBall, Keegan paced the width of the roof twice before he stopped and stared at the nearest vending machine as though it would give him some sort of answer. The redhead sighed and paced another lap before stopping again. "The universe really hates me," he told a decorative potted palm plant, not that it cared one way or the other what the universe thought of one Keegan Summers. "What are the chances that the happy couple would choose to come to the Lilycove Department Store at pretty much the exact same time as me?" The plant, unfortunately, had nothing helpful to offer on the subject as it was not in the mood to exchange dialogue with Keegan, and finally the irate youth stomped towards the stairs, muttering to himself. He had a schedule to stick to and he didn't feel like hiding up on the roof until Mike and Kasiya left. Even then, there was a good chance they'd spot him as they flew off into the proverbial sunset and that thought made him even angrier, if it were at all possible at this point. "Whatever," he growled as he kicked open the door to the stairwell. He couldn't avoid them forever, he knew that much, so he figured he'd just get in, get what he needed and get out again.
It had been a while since he'd last set foot in this place, however, so he didn't really know where anything was anymore. He looked anything but inconspicuous as he poked his head out of the stairwell door to gaze around the fifth floor - gaudy and overpriced decorations for Arceus-knows-what. "Nope." Of course, the logical thing to do would be to ask someone where the TMs and evolution stones were being sold, but that was far too easy. The redhead hopped down several steps at a time as he made his way to the next floor and he opened the door somewhat cautiously, sighing when he saw rows and rows of TMs staring back at him. He rubbed his hands together, only momentarily overwhelmed by the many different options for moves before he remembered that he'd made a list. He'd done his own research during training the night before and he'd been clever enough to jot them down.
Despite how pleased he was at his own thoughtfulness, Keegan knew he would only have enough money for the Fire Stone and perhaps one TM, until he remembered the cache of discs he'd accumulated from his previous gym battles. If he sold those, he'd be able to afford a second TM and he was quite all right with that game plan. He didn't plan on using them anyway so why let them take up space when he could be getting a bit of extra money out of them? He managed to find four in all that he wanted to sell - three TMs and the HM for Rock Smash, though he wasn't sure what he'd be able to get for them. He grabbed an Aerial Ace for little Hades and an Energy Ball for Pan and he'd done almost a complete circle of the floor before he remembered that they kept the evolution stones behind the counter. Feeling only a little bit stupid he marched right up to the counter, giving the scrawny blonde cashier a hard stare. "I need a Fire Stone," he practically demanded, his tone barely civil. ===== Damien wasn't at all surprised to see the Vulpix recalled after Drowzee's attack, and he leaned back on a heel, arms crossed with the egg nestled against his chest as he awaited the redheaded trainer's replacement Pokemon. His expression did sour slightly when she finally did make her choice. He'd never been a big fan of Dark-types to begin with, and it certainly didn't help that one was now staring down his Drowzee. He'd immediately opened his mouth to call for another Hypnosis, but the redhead was quicker on the draw, ordering a Taunt.
Figures, the dark-haired boy thought, casting an irked glance to his right as the woman he'd seen before had made her way to his side. She seemed thrilled as he looked her right in the eye, and he sighed. "You can see me, can't you?" she asked.
Damien looked back at the redhead, trying to act relatively normal. "Uh, no, no I most certainly cannot. You've got me confused with someone else," he said bluntly, now having to make an effort to ignore her as she'd started to pout. He refused to look at her even as she walked a few quick circles around him and then vanished, appearing right beside the redheaded girl. When it became clear to even her that Damien was ignoring her, she disappeared again, and this time stayed that way, at least for now. Ghostly women aside, he was almost entirely certain, however, that the girl and her Sneasel would end up winning this, but it didn't really matter in the long run, even if he was quietly wishing that his Shroomish had already evolved into a Breloom and could smack that grin right off the Sneasel's face. He didn't know a lot about the species, however, but he could hazard a guess that it would be wise to stay away from those dangerously-sharp claws it was sporting. The only moves Drowzee could use right now were Pound and Headbutt, unfortunately, leaving them with few options. "Headbutt," he demanded sharply. It was difficult enough to focus on a battle without ghosts interfering the whole time.
Drowzee, for some reason, felt inexplicably angry, which was fairly new emotion for the relatively laid-back Pokemon. She felt a mighty need to introduce her hard skull to that cocky Pokemon's face, and when Damien gave her the command, she charged forward, head lowered as she prepared to ram it into the obnoxious Dark-type.

The sun was beginning to set as Ben pedaled his way onto Route 31, whizzing past the scenery and a few Hoothoot that were beginning to wake up. 'Almost there,' he thought. As fast as he was going, he didn't notice the terrain starting to become rocky, completely caught off guard when his bike wheel catches a stone and tosses him into the air with a startled shout before he lands and skids with a thud and a wince. Looking up a bit blearily, he notices the entrance to a large cave.. the inside of it incredibly black. His eyes widen slightly as he gets up and picks up his bike, wiping some of the dirt from his clothes and noticing the scrapes on his palms and cheek from the fall. "Aw, man..." He decides to walk away from the cave for now, the darkness a little intimidating. He had no idea what sort of Pokemon were lurking in there, and his Pichu was in no condition to fight.
Standing beside his bike, he continues to walk it down the path as it leads west, following the signs that point toward Violet City. Pushing his bike through the tall grass, he notices a funny looking hat and a large net, pausing and tilting his head as a boy leaps out at him and laughs. "Hey! I'm a bug-catcher. Did you know there's tons of bugs around here?" Ben blinks at him, nodding a little slowly. ".. Yeah.. I saw a ton of Weedle on the way up..." The boy grins and nods. "Yup! Bug Pokemon are my specialty! Do you wanna battle 'em?" Ben winces a little, looking down and shaking his head slowly. "Not right now... My Pokemon is hurt pretty bad from our last battle, and I'm trying to get him to the PokeCenter in Violet City..." The boy tilts his head with a "Hmmm," smiling with a nod and packing up his gear. "Right! I'll take you there, it isn't far! But afterwards, you gotta have a battle with me!" His lips twitching into a slight and cautious smile, Ben nods and follows with his bike once the kid starts walking to lead him. "Thanks.. My Pokemon is in pretty bad shape, so I'll take any help I can get..." His thoughts wander back to the battle as he trudges through the thick grass on the path to Violet City. He was kind of sad that his Pichu had gotten so beat up, but the Pokemon had seemed happy to fight. And he knew that fighting would make it stronger, and even help it to evolve. This made Ben feel a little bit better, a smile coming to his lips. If his Pichu wanted to fight for him, then that must mean that he was a good Trainer.
Ben follows his guide for a little while longer, until they finally reach a paved road that shows the beginnings of Violet City. There were a few buildings scattered around, all painted natural, earthy colors. Even the PokeCenter was painted in a duller shade than the one back in Cherrygrove. Reaching its entrance, Ben smiles to his companion. "Thanks a lot for your help. If you want, I'll be happy to have a battle with you tomorrow morning, after me and my Pokemon have gotten some rest. Will you be back on Route 31, where I found you?" The bug-catcher grins and nods, holding his net a little tighter on his shoulder. "Yep! I look forward to it, Trainer!" As the boy turns and leaves with a wave over his shoulder, Ben turns and walks into the PokeCenter.
Walking up to the reception desk, Ben smiles bashfully and hands the nurse his pokeball. "Please help my Pichu to recover... It had a rough fight, and it used up all of its electricity." The nurse smiles gently and takes the pokeball, turning and putting it into a machine that transfers it to the healing station. "That will be no problem, young sir.. In the meantime, why don't you rest in the Trainer's Lounge? You can have a bite to eat, and there are blankets and pillows if you need a place to sleep for the night." Ben smiles tiredly and nods, looking down the hall where the nurse is pointing. "Yes, thank you, Nurse.." He turns quietly and walks into the lounge, finding a comfortable looking couch and sitting down with a weary sigh, sliding off his bag and opening it up to pull out his first aid kit. He'd better cover up the scrapes on his face... Dabbing a little ointment on the raw skin, he quietly tapes on a bandage before packing it up and setting the bag at his feet, leaning back with a sigh. 'I hope Pichu will be okay...' While he waits, his eyes wander to a table set up with canned drinks and sandwich fixings, his stomach suddenly rumbling loudly. With a small chuckle, he heads up to go and get himself some food.

((some time later))
"... Benjamin Thomas? Benjamin?" The voice called out in the Trainer's Lounge. Ben was snoring softly on one of the sofas, exhausted from his day's adventure. The kind nurse came to him, patting his shoulder quietly and causing him to open his eyes with a slow blink. ".. Hn..?" The nurse smiled and handed him his pokeball. "Your Pichu is all better, now. I'll let you get back to sleep, young man. You'll need it for a whole new day of training tomorrow." Watching her as she turned back for the front desk, Ben smiled sleepily and pressed the button on his pokeball, Pichu coming out of it and sitting on his belly with bright eyes and a healthy buzz in his cheeks, his tail and ears twitching softly before he lets out a wide yawn. Ben smiles. "You did really good today, Pichu... I'm very proud of you..." Ben then lets out a long yawn, himself, while his Pichu curls up on his chest, the Trainer's hand resting over it's tiny body while they both sleep.

Bob gave a pained grunt and dropped the knife as Kressen knocked the wind out of him. His back hit the lab wall and he tried to hit the boy with a clenched fist. The blow landed, but in a poor spot on the red heads back dealing little damage. It just pissed Kressen off more and her responded by hitting the man several times in the kidneys.
Bob slumped down in pain giving Kressen time to deliver the knockout blow. Grabbing the man's head he slammed his knee into Bob's face and pushed his unconscious form over onto the grass. Breathing heavily he adjusted his disheveled clothes and called out to Mateus. "Mateus, be a dear and string shot the lot of them into a big cocoon so they can't escape."
Mateus believed that to be an excellent idea since it seemed like fun. Plus it was practice for doing it to Kressen later. Soon the Rocket's and their pokemon were bound in the string shot unable to move and easy pickings for officer Jenny to claim. Breathing slowly to stop the adrenaline from pumping into his veins Kressen turned to the professor."Is that metapod of yours okay?"

((the next morning))
Ben woke up bright and early to the bright morning sun, not groggy at all, but positively revving with energy. "Pichu! Come on, get up, we get to have a battle today!" The Pichu sits up and rubs his eye with an audible yawn, flomping onto its butt and staring at Ben with a blink. ".... Pii...?" Ben laughs and hands the pokemon a handful of food pellets from his bag before running over to the food table, the contents of which have been replaced with breakfast fixings. He wastes no time in stuffing his face with some fruit and a muffin, chasing it down with a tall glass of milk (his mother's voice was ringing in his head again, 'Don't forget to drink your milk, or you won't grow anymore and your bones will break!'). Finishing the glass, he returns to Pichu, who looks a little more lively after finishing his meal and looks up at Ben with bright eyes. "Pii!" Ben grins. "Good to see you're alive! Are you ready? I said I'd meet that bug-catcher back on Route 31. You'll get to battle some Bug Pokemon!" Pichu tilts his head curiously before darting and hopping up onto Ben's shoulder, who grins and runs out of the PokeCenter with a wave over his shoulder. "Thanks, Nurse!" Pichu turns and and waves as well, his eyes happy and bright. "Pii Pii!"

Mike had since laid back on the bench, his head resting back comfortably on his arms. The spot was right next to the window, and the afternoon sun covered him like a blanket. "Sure beats sleeping on rocks." he murmured letting out a long breath.
"I need a Fire Stone." a familiar voice said with an equally familiar tone that brought a smile to Mike's face.
"Heh. Silly Keegan." Mike lazily replied. "What do you need a Fire Stone for? You already have a Ninetale-" his eyes sprung open once his brain was kind enough to catch up with his mouth. Keegan?! He flailed around on the bench, a small amount of smoke reflexively puffed out from him like a frightened Koffing.
What's he doing here? asked a ghost.
"I don't know!" Mike whispered through grit, momentarily forgetting that there was no way for the redhead to hear the phantom. He may have heard someone else, however.
Do you think he heard you? another questioned. Mike smacked his head in hopes to shut them up, looking up to see if he'd been spotted. Thankfully he had not. He may have been in a crowded mall, but seeing his old friend made him feel like there wasn't anyone else around for miles.
Just try talking to him. Maybe he's not mad?
"He's Keegan Summers. Mad is basically his middle name." Sidebar: what was his middle name? He'd never actually picked that up over the years. Bah! Distraction! Despite the spirit's misinformation, it wasn't the worst of ideas. He would never hope to get things back to normal if he didn't at least try to act it. Then again, normalcy was never the boy's forte.
What's the worst that could happen? More broken bones?
"Your vote of confidence fills me with untold glee." Mike said out of the side of his mouth. But I mean, it was Keegan. His old buddy! Sure there has been some recent issues between them, but when has there not? That was the real question. The day the two boys were on consistently perfect terms would be the day to start digging. What was the worst that could happen? "Here goes nothing." His scars glowing a dull orange due to his pounding heart, Mike stood up and with as much casual grace as possible, walked over to his irate friend. "Growlithe or Eevee?" he asked, wearing what he hoped was a disarming smile.
