"Oh and how's that?" Jack asked, not knowing if he should take that as an insult or not. One one hand, he wasn't wise. On the other, he wasn't a know-it-all. So he wondered what she meant by that.

She shrugged, still laying in the sand. "Well, most Athena kids are buried in books in their cabins. Or even rarely, in the Arena planning out battle strategies. Nice to know there are a few kids that don't drown themselves in things like that." She grinned up at him. "It's called fresh air. It does the body great."

"Well, I have no one to talk to in my cabin, so I have no choice but to come outside." Jack said, thinking about it. He had a brother, but he hadn't seen him since Nicole kicked his butt, so he only had sisters.

"Why do you think I'm out here? To enjoy the scenery?" She joked. "Our cabin smells like an old gym sock. And it also reeks of old blood. Fresh air is something I need almost every minute of every day."

"And my cabin is crowded with computers and bookcases. So its not exactly easy to hide away from the outside world." Jack added. It was also fun, since it had computers, but he thought that might ruin the point he was trying to make.

"I love to read. If I even tried to bring in a regular book inside by cabin, I'd probably get kicked out. At least until it was gone and done with." She chuckled, and sighed. She was getting bored.

"Well, all the Ares campers can't be like that." Jack said, disbelievingly. There had to be at least one other nice Ares kid. "Bored?" he asked, hearing her sigh.

"Kinda. But it's better than being alone back at the cabin, I assume." Sitting up, she leaned her back against the boulder behind her.

Jack shrugged and went back to looking at the water. It was pretty peaceful without hundreds of screaming campers running around.

"So... I dunno if I asked you this already, but when exactly did you get here?" She asked, desperate to fill in the awkward silences that came up every now and then.

"I don't think you asked me that." Jack said, thinking about it. "I think a few months. I'm not exactly sure. How long have you been here?" he asked.

"Oh, about a few weeks. But I've done almost everything there is to do around here. Except swimming." She stared a bit blankly at the ocean, biting the inside of her cheek, contemplating whether or not to go swimming. It wasn't that cold. A bit humid, actually.

"Then you should go swimming. It isn't cold." Jack said. It was a good day for swimming, but he wasn't sure why she hadn't golne swimming. It was a little odd.

"I never went because I was always in the Arena, or it was packed here. I almost never come here when there's a ton of other demigods here, too." She stood up, and brushed off her jeans, taking off her sneakers and tossing them off behind her.

"Well, would you want to go swimming?" Jack asked, then realized that she was probably already planning on it.
