As he felt the scroll drop to the ground in front of his lap, the young Nara boy let out a low sigh and decided to take a break from his made up tasking and try a hand at a puzzle that his sisters had given him the day prior to figure out. He reached down to the scroll and replaed it into his back pouch and then pulled out a small rubix cube. It had already come pre-mixed up so he didn't have to spend time messing it's order up and trying to memorize how he did such. Much to his dismay his sisters had proven much smarter than he would give them credit for, not that they ever asked for or got his opinion. With the multicolored device in hand the boy began slowly twisting the block about itself. He figured that he'd attack the object by fully completing one side of the cube at a time before moving on.

With all of the yellow squares against one side of the cube, the young Nara boy began to wonder at why people seemed to have a problem with these things at all. Though he soon answered his own question as he began trying to make all of the red squares come together in an adjacent side of the cube. This puzzle was not as easy as he tried to not only make all the reds fit into place but also maintain the yellow squares that he'd already gotten into place. After several slow calculated twists in varying directions the boy looked at his progess on the cube. Even though it had started out as a somewhat simple task, he found himself understanding that it would become much harder in a very short amount of time.

Despite the boys worries as to whether or not he would be able to properly arrange the red squares as he had the yellow, he found that in the end he was able to figure it out fairly quickly. With two colors and thereby two sides of the cube put together correctly the Nara turned his attention to the green squares and decided that they would be his next focus from completeing the rubix cube. As he began turning and twisting the block about he could tell that it was getting increasingy more difficult for him to figure the puzzle out instead of easier as he had assumed it would go. The fact that he had found a mind bender that got harder as he understood more was quite thrilling and somewhat aggrivating to the boy. Sos much so that he seriously considered just putting the rubix cube away as he had the scroll. But he knew that he wouldn't give up on the cube.

After turning and twisting the device about several times he looked at his progress only to find that he ad gone in circles with his turns and had made no progress at all. A soft sigh escaped his lips as he stared down at the small childs toy that was already acting like it was going to give him problems. However thinking negatively wasn't going to get the young lad anywhere, so he cleared his thoughts and put his attention back onto the green squares that he was attempting to get together. The boy stopped and wondered at himself for not trying to find some sort of pattern before now. Thinking back to the book on simple devices that he had read earlier, he realized that this block could only change its form in so many different ways. Therefore there had to be some sort of pattern to the twists that would lead to his victory over the cube.

Hardly even considering what it was that his hands were doing before him, the boy soon looked down at the cube to find that now half of the blocks sides were complete solid colors. He'd managed to somehow find the proper pattern that the device used to get all of the green squares on one side of the block. Next he would turn his efforts to the blue squares and thus was willing to continue with the same turning pattern to see if perhaps he could get lucky and complete the fourth side with the same technique. He knew that it was a long shot but he also knew that he didn't exactly have a whole lot of options for how he would solve the puzzle. So without hesitation the boy closed his eyes and focused on continueing the same pattern of twists and turns for the blue squares of the rubix cube.

As Tenma stretched and flex her fingers in preparation for her next attempt she looked up to see what other people were doing. Rhiam was working with a rubix cube and seemed to be having a difficult time with it, but that wouldn't last too long. The new guy, though she didn't know his name, was still working on handseals like she was. The Uchiha, Kazumei if she remembered correctly, had just finished beating-up on a puppet.

Now that her mind had a short rest it was time to get back to the matter at hand. She placed her hands in the appropriate seal and continued to take it appart and reconstruct, occasionally closing her eyes to increase the difficulty. Then, as she had done numerous time before, she placed her hands in her lap and closed her eyes. She felt her hands come together and, to her dismay, saw that her fingers laced infront of the backs of ehr hands, not in towards her body.

It didn't suprise the boy at all to find that by using the same pattern for the blue squares that he had used for the green squares, that he had not even come close to fitting all of those squares properly. He knew that he'd simply have to fiddle with the device until he found the correct pattern that would have the desired effect on the blue squares. Thus he closed his eyes and focused on the way that the certain spins and twists felt in his hands, similar to the method he had used to master the handseals earlier that day. The main difference now was that he didn't know exactly how it was supposed to feel in his hands for him to get it right. He didn't dwell on that fact though, since it would frustrate him to know that the best he could do in this instance was to attempt a series of guesses based on nothing.

With a frown temporarily staring at her hands she shook her head. If she let this frustrate her she wasn't going to get anywhere in the academy. As a distraction she decided to study her illustration again while twisting her beaded strand of hair around her finger. Shortly after Tenma felt like she needed to try again. Deep breath. Focus on the hands. Close eyes. Try.

Tenma shook her head at the result. This was a pathetic excuse for a horse seal. It looked more like some deformed shadow puppet.

To his utter surprise and satisfaction the first pattern that he guessed with turned out to be the correct one for placing the blue squares exactly where they needed to be. The young Nara held the cube outstretched for a moment to examine the last two remaining sides and develop at least some sort of strategy for how he would talk the problem of the device. In the same glance he took note of how close the small girl across from his was getting to mastering all of the handseals. He wanted to put up the cube for a moment and return to helping her, but he didn't want to quit his project and he knew that she'd feel more accomplished in the end if she did it on her own. At least did when finally finished. With that he brought the cube back to his person and began rotating it about.

Alright, time for another try. Tenma's eyebrows furrowed as she attempted to get a feel for the positioning of her fingers. She would get this right, if not this time the next time. Forcing herself to relax Tenma prepared herself for the next attempt. She placed her hands in the seal form and closed her eyes. Dropping her hands to lap she took in a deep breath and soon let it out. She would figure this out. Bringing her hands back together in the seal she opened her eyes. Allowing a smile to come onto her face she realize that she finally had it figured out. Only one more to go!

The fact that he'd spent so much of his focus on the thoughts of helping the girl in front of him had caused him to overlook critical aspects of the method that he was trying to use to figure out how to get the fifth side of the rubix cube. However in the end it was his own fault that he had failed and it would not do him well to do anything other than re-focus on the device and commit himself to its defeat yet again. He did not like the idea of an inanimate object out smarting him like the cube currently was doing. So the squinty eyed boy closed his eyes and focused all of his mental capacity on turning the block about in his hands in exactly the manner he intended. The click and clack of the parts moving became a slight rythem to him as he worked.

Reza turned around startled at the voice of the other student. He blushed to himself at being caught unaware and letting out that little shout of joy. Shame show more dignity you fool. His eyes dropped to the ground as he realized that this student was the source of the battle sounds he had heard earlier. With great effort he forced himself to raise his black eyes and look at the boy. His widened slightly in surprise as he saw the x shaped wound on his face and the blood that was pouring from it. All at once the medical training he had kicked in.

“Looks like you hurt yourself training. Would you mind if I cleaned it up for you?” He asked in a professional tone that was slightly tinged with worry.

The slight rythem of the click and clack of the rotating block may have made sense to him in his mind but on the block it didn't seem to have any productive results at all. In fact it appeared to the boy that he wasn't getting anywhere with this fifth side of the rubix cube. The wasn't to say that he was going to give up on this little object, in fact this actually seemed to spur the child on to redouble his efforts in achieving his goal. Rhaim knew that he wanted to move on in his Academy assignments but the fact that they were required assignments sort of kept him at bay with the toy. So long as he felt like he was training on his own terms he was finne with the task, regardless of the truth of the matter. With that he began the dance of his hands to manipulate the cube about.

Realising that by the end of his movemnets that the rubix cube had not actually changed its formation in any way, Rhaim set the device down in front of him and simply stared at it. He had to find out exactly how every square of the puzzle was related if he wanted to solve it, that included both the squares that he had yet to finish and the yellow, red, green, and blue squares that he had already finished. It was critical to develop some sort of path to get the unset squares to their predescribed destinations without leaving his progress that he had made thus far totally ruined. The boy closed his eyes and nodded his head as he was ready to take it up again. He reached out for the rubix cube and picked it up, rolling it over in his hand to get his mind focused on it.
