TtheHero Wow. What was THAT all about?!? I mean honestly...
Why target me cause I'm Ike? Do you hate him that badly you'll gang up on someone who can't use him THAT effectively?
This match wasn't worth recording! I didn't even last long enough... We didn't target you, dude. xd
I guess you were just the easiest to hit. Sorry. :XP:
[Fish] Yeah, the last decent improvement was the ATB gauge, but that was in the 16 bit era.

Meta_Fish Tatsuman Meta_Fish Meta_Fish Why don't more developers make games that they tout as breaking the genre from which they came? I want to see an RPG that when I look at the box, it read something like "This game completely revitalizes the RPG genre. You've been playing the same game since the 8-bit era with minor tweaks, but here's *game* to kick some ******** balls into this sucky a** genre. Shockolate!" I'd be for that. To continue, Contact seemed like it would be that game. It really does do some things that I admire, and it changes up the RPG element, by not making you enter a battle, breaking from the action. The battles happen on the same screen as the exploration, and if you want to run away, just run away. It also has a neat stomach feature, so you can only eat so much for so long. Actually, I agree. Not many RPGs are actually worth a s**t anymore. >.> Holy s**t we agree. It's like they've done nothing to improve RPGs since they started out. The genre just has not moved anywhere. I would beg to differ; it's my opinion that RPGs may not have changed much, but they don't really need to. As a matter of fact, the most fun RPGs for me are the ones most remniscent of the start of the genre. But of course Fish hates most RPGs and it's useless trying to talk with him about this. XD Also, I also think college will be much easier. I hear that there's really only two grades per class each year- the semester and final exams. That's much better.

I dunno, Denko. You can only play the same game with a different story for so long.

It's like, all genres have made great improvements and gone great lengths from their beginnings, and RPGs just really haven't seemed to. They look better, yet "gameplay" (if we can really call it that) remains the same.
RPGs could be played on DVD players. BURN.

It's true, most RPGs are pretty much the same thing over and over again. There are only a few that I can sit through to the end.

Tatsuman I dunno, Denko. You can only play the same game with a different story for so long. I guess I'm just one of the very limited number of people that really doesn't mind the mechanics being similar as long as I get a good story. To tell you the truth it doesn't really bother me at all. The more a game tries to change the formula of the RPG genre, usually the less I like that game. Major exceptions are Paper Mario 1 and 2.
