He didn't even try to hide his frustration as his chakra gave way once more. This stage was longer than the last, but he would get through it if given enough time. Shinichi settled into a traditional sitting position and closed his eyes, trying to think of anything but the long wait ahead of him.

"Maybe.." he mumbled going over to his bagpack.
He rummaged through his bagpack looking for something. Finally, he came up with a book. It was a small guide called 'The All-Purpose Ninja Guide to Jutsus'. He flipped it over to the genjutsu section looking for tips.

The tips didn't mention anything on how to inflict pain, maybe that is why the book was so cheap.
"Damn my lack of money..." said Shinji as he stood up to attempt the jutsu again.

Shinji threw the book into his bagpack, and began to deelop his own methods, maybe that way would be better. For future genjutsu, this tips he was telling himself might also help. He closed his eyes to concentrate first.

Shinji thought of some tips that might help. Like, try to feel what the other will feel perfectly before yoou transfer the technique, or think of something really intense. The point was, that mind power was what he needed. He put in use this tips, and concentrated. SUCCESS!

Shinji jumped happiky around as his jutsu succeeded. Just one more good try would do for him. Afterwards, the jutsu was pretty much learned. He thought of this excitedly, but was too desperate to learn it that he messed up.

Concentrate. That's what he kept telling himself. Just one more good try would do. He concentrated really hard and thought of his tips. They had been good earlier, so he decided to use them again.
"Magen: Narakumi No Jutsu!" he said.
Success. He was very happy he had learned a good techniqu. He danced around a while before leaving the training grounds.

Shinichi rubbed his neck with a gentle palm and ran his fingers through the soft skin until he located his pulse. It had been too long since he last did something like this. The forefinger danced on the fragile, tanned skin and came to rest just under a muscle. There is was. His pulse was running much slower that it had been since Koro-sensei measured the class' pulse at the Academy.

That was enough. Shinichi hopped to his feet and scanned the area of grassland in front of him. It made enough sense that this village was named after the 2 metre tall stalks of bamboo and grass that surrounded the forest around them. He knew that many underestimated the sheer power that plants had, but they made up the very foundation of all advances, ninjutsu or medicinal. Plus, there was nothing in the world more graceful than the long, elegant strands of grass that danced about this earth. Shinichi grinned silently and ran forwards, doing a somersault at the last second. He would do his best not to disturb the vegetation that lay beneath his feet.

Unfortunately, he landed with a sound thump. Shinichi scowled and remained motionless for a few moments while his chakra restored itself. Maybe he should concentrate on going laterally next time.

"I'm so close!" Aya yelled as she moved the water once more. She didn't make it perfect that time, but it was damn near being close to perfect! She took some deep breathes and tried to concentrate once again. "Focus, chica!" she said to herself. Sometimes, when Aya was on the brink of meeting that burn-out point, she started speaking in different languages at herself or objects.

Yes, yes, that made perfect sense. Instead of dropping from several metres where the increased gravitational force would propel his body to hit the ground at a faster rate, he would first control his chakra on flat ground. As much as he regretted it, Shinichi knew he would have to start small, then work his way up.

Shinichi lifted himself up and scanned the area with his deep green eyes. He finally decided upon a large patch of beaten grass approximately 20 feet away. There was a group of butterflies feeding on some pollen just to the right of the direct path. If he could move stealthily enough to sneak past the insects, then Shinichi would truly know if his muffling was effective. He directed chakra to his feet and dashed forwards.

He heard nothing and the butterflies remained in their places as if nothing had happened, even though he just barely avoided touching them by a mere centimetres. Shinichi breathed a sigh and frowned as the butterflies scattered. There was something wrong with this whole scene. He raised his eyebrows and crouched, drawing random battle tactics in the dirt to pass the time. If his genin teammates were to go through another mission like the Suna one, then they would need strategy and not just brute strength.

Let's see... there were three worms... but it was dangerous for them all to take on one worm at a time. Shinichi frowned as he thought back to each of his teammates strength's and weaknesses. Kohki-san was weak physically, but his intellect and skill with kikaichu were not to be underestimated. Perhaps he should have stayed in the back and attacked from a long range. Now that he thought of it, Shinichi recalled that he was suited for both roles, but his own stinginess prevented him from wasting any materials. That would be something he would have to fix. Now, Myobi-san. She was also intelligent, strong, and a genjutsu user. However, she was also much slower than either he or Kohki-san. What, then, should she have done? Shinichi put a hand to his forehead as the planning overwhelmed him.
