Schizophrenic Spork I might be getting a trumpet tomorrow!!! I've been learning on the school's cornet in the hope of marching trumpet next year, because we're really short on them, and I play flute and piccolo. So I'll play those in class and trumpet in marching band and possibly jazz band senior year. But first I actually have to GET a trumpet, because the cornet is crap.
*fingers crossed* I really want my own trumpet! blaugh Aww...I hope you get one soon! =3 I got one for Christmas and I'm learning it right now. QUITE different from the flute. xD

I've got two. A silver Bach Strat for concert season and an old gold Bach for Marching. I hate how most trumpet players confuse playing ability with range. A good player can't necisarilly play very high and someone who can play very high isn't nesicarilly a good player =/

i can play high (as in high c,d,and e), and play pretty good. im playing on a Bach Omega, so yea. it depends on how you like to play i guess

A good player can't necisarilly play very high and someone who can play very high isn't nesicarilly a good player =/ finally, someone else that believes that! everyone is always going on about this boy in my section because he can play high. but his tone and just overall playing quality is terrible. and yet all these people think he's good. i don't get it. neutral

Well, when you get someone that can play high and well, it sounds amazing. Of course, the first trumpets this year aren't all that great...They monopolize our lesson time with their mistakes. gonk
My first concert is tonight, for jazz band! Thursday's my second, for actual band.
And, last night, I discovered something that I likely should have known all along... Trumpet players need to clean out their mouthpieces, too. >.> I never knew that, but for kicks I started cleaning it last night, and there was all this junk inside it... And then, after I cleaned it out, blowing through my instrument was as easy as breathing! (I always had to blow harder to get air through my instrument; I thought it was just the trumpet I had!) So, today, I showed a fellow trumpeter who also didn't know, and she has good sound too, now. *thumbs up*

I GOT MY TRUMPET!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It's a used Yamaha in decent condition, it was the best we could afford. Waaaaayyyyyyy better than the cornet. And it's MINE!!!! heart
I think I'm doing pretty good too, I got some trumpet copies of a piece we're playing in class and I can play most of it (although I have to work on my range)
But geez, it is REALLY different. Still fun though!

I'm new to this guild. I own one trumpet and one coronet. Between the two I have 5 mouthpieces. My coronet is Getzen and my trumpet is Grand. The Getzen definitely plays better. I have a Getzen trumpet. I love it only someone toke it out of my coby and dented up the bell pretty bad.
