Finally! The dragon sensed how close they were to finishing and threw on a final burst of speed. Aurian raised her lance as the dragon charged. The tip smashed into the target, dead on centre. Aurian whooped as the dragon slowed. The target behind them was all but obliterated.
"We did it," Aurian said as she slid from the saddle. Her arms wrapped around the dragon's neck, hugging him tight. "Now let's go find food, and then sleep."
The dragon rumbled agreement and trailed after her.
