When he saw her watching him he smiled at her, finished with the bills and putting them out in the mail box before coming back. Walking in he noticed Shilo's face as she drank and pulling her out of her high chair, setting her on the table and studying her. "Open your mouth baby."

Shilo looked up at him, removing her bottle from her mouth and opening wide, not liking that her gums were getting all warm again.
Moya walked over so she was on the same side as Nik to look at Shilo as well.

Holding her chin gently he studied her gums, seeing the faintest pearl peaks poking through every here and there in her mouth. "Your teeth are coming in Shilo." Letting go of her chin he went over to the freezer, pulling out a teething ring and sitting in front of her again. "This oughta help a little bit." Holding up the ring to her he waited to see her reaction.

Shilo took the ring and felt that it was cold. She put it in her mouth and starting to naw on it. It made her gums feel better so she left it there.
Moya rubbed Nik's shoulder as she kissed Shilo's head and picking her up. "This isn't going to go well is it baby?" She rocked Shilo gently as she looked at Nik.

He shrugged as he sat back in his chair, watching them. When had they gotten here? When had they gone from two people in the world to the parents of a little girl who was teething? "It's not going to be comfortable. Her gums are going to be sore until her teeth grow in, but she'll be able to eat more foods once they do."

Moya nodded and kept Shilo close. "What do we to do help? Surely there is more to do then to just give her cold things."
Shilo rested her head on her mom's chest, keeping the ring in her mouth. She turned it so she found another cold spot, the other spot starting to get warm.

Moya was worrying again. That wasn't going to be good. "Not really Moya. This happens with every baby, until their teeth come in they go through a little bit of discomfort. The cold will help her though, and who knows? Afterwards she might not even really feel anything. But if she runs her tongue over it right now she'll feel her teeth coming in."

Moya sighed and sat down, running her hand on Shilo's head as she went quiet. She didn't want Shilo to feel any pain, but she couldn't stop it.
Shilo looked up at her mom before looking over at her dad, not knowing what to do about her teething.

Uh oh. Nik knew that look. Shaking his head he came up behind Moya, rubbing her shoulders lightly and watching Shilo. 'Just keep playing with your ring Baby.'

Shilo did what she was told and just continued to chew on the ring.
Moya looked up and then grabbed one of his hands. "I'm sorry. Its just that if I talk right now I'll get into a pointless disagreement with you and right now I just don't want that."

It wouldn't be pointless though. Every mother wanted to help their child in any way they could. "We could always go ask the doctor if there's anything else we can do while her teeth come in."

"Moya, it's ok to argue. Not every view or idea I'm going to have is right." Finishing rubbing her shoulders he kissed her head, going into the kitchen and getting a glass of water.

"But most of the time it is." She went back to smoothing Shilo's hair on her head, starting to think again what she could do for her.
Shilo shifted and laid down in her mother's lap, her teeth feeling better in this form.

Seeing Shilo switch to wolf form and hearing Moya's words made him shake his head, a little exasperated at this point. The way Moya saw him.... it was like she thought he was God, that he was all seeing and right. "I'll be back." Heading out the door he locked it behind himself, walking through the forest for awhile.
